I've been coming here for 17+ years. Back when it was Dr. Wu senior, and since Ginna left it's so different and difficult. I really love Dr. Wu Jr but I won't be back. This place has a whole different vibe now . The office girls are very unclear and uncertain about things. I took my daughter to get contact lenses. The eye doctor quoted me a price on my first visit. They ask we come back a week later. When we returned, the front office ask we pay a $115 fitting fee, there was no fitting done. They said put them on and come back in a week. The amount I was told it would cost was a lot less than what they were trying to collect from my daughter. They were not honest when we talked to the doctor and front office staff. My family and I will not be coming back. I can get the same service cheaper somewhere else. read more

Needed new eyes, so I came here to do my annual eye exam. I called and the receptionist was super nice and friendly. I got an appointment for the same day. Dr. U did my exam and he was very nice and informative. He showed me what the back of my eyes looked like and what everything meant. Previous doctors never showed me this before, so it was pretty interesting to see what it looks like back there. The office was also very clean, so I felt COVID safe. The level of customer service has gone down. I simply don't like any of the frames that they offer here, and in the past this wouldn't be a problem because I could request a pair that I do like and they would order them for me. However, I called today to place an order for a pair of frames I wanted and they said they weren't taking any new request because "they ordered too many of the existing frames from their vendors". This sounds like a company problem, not mine. I don't see how I shouldn't be able to place an order for new frames due to poor purchasing planning on the office's end. I've been getting my eyes checked here regularly for several years now and the front desk staff continues to be friendly, and Dr. Wu is still very knowledgeable and personable. He literally "fixed" my vision... I was apparently getting overcorrected at Costco (didn't even know that was possible), and when Dr. Wu fit me in the correct prescription (lower too), I actually see more clearly. He definitely knows what he's doing. But yeah their recent office renovation makes the place look great. I'm a happy customer here. read more

My wife bought me a sweet pair of Gucci sunglasses for my birthday. I always have prescription lenses put in and I really disliked the last optometrist I went to so once again I turned to Yelp for some help. I found Covina Eyecare and gave them a call due to their rave reviews. The receptionist was nice and I told her I was in kind of a hurry to get my sunglasses finished, so the sooner I could get in the better. She found an opening within two days (almost unheard of at most optometrists shops these days) so I jumped on it. My appointment was with Dr. Edwin Wu and he couldn't have been any nicer. Super kind, mellow person that makes you feel at ease instantly. The office also took all necessary precautions due to Covid going around, and I was appreciate of that because I've got a few Karens in my family and I've seen enough of that, lol. I brought it two pairs of sunglasses with me; one that I had done years and years ago that I really liked, and my most recent pair that the Optometrist I didn't like had done. I told Dr. Wu which one I liked better and, after my exam, he said he was surprised at the prescription of my most recent glasses because it wasn't close to what I needed. I finished my appointment, left my new sunglasses and waited for them to call me letting me know my glasses were in. In less than a week, the office called and said my glasses were ready. I picked them up and wow, what a difference to my most recent pair! These were great! What I didn't like about my last pair of prescription sunglasses was that they worked ok for seeing far away, but for things that were up close or even "semi" up close, they were horrible. I could use them to drive and stuff, but when I went golfing, I couldn't focus on the ball so I'd have to take them off. Basically, I would wear my old glasses every day of the week "except" on the days I went golfing. So in essence I needed two separate pairs of sunglasses. However the prescription from Dr. Wu is now PERFECT! I can wear my new sunglasses ALL the time! My wife was so impressed with how I felt about them that she said she's going to switch too. So the next time she needs a prescription for her contacts, she'll be heading over to see Dr. Wu. You should too. read more

I bought a pair of expensive Armani frame and had put bifocal lenses in, shatter proof, darkening in sunlight, the work. The Cadillac package. However, there was only one problem; I could only see cowardly out of a tiny point up by the top of the frame. I returned them and asked them to fix that and I was told that this is the way they are because if the square frames and bifocal lenses. My old frame however is even smaller and I can see in the distance perfectly out of the whole top half of the lens. I was told that's the way it is. So I threw them away because I couldn't use them. That was about $500 down the drain. I'm not going to return there nor would I recommend this place. read more

I'm so disappointed and upset. I've had to have my glasses adjusted 4 times since my visit in March and I still can't see. I paid over $350 for them. Everything I'm there they made me feel like it's me and they are paying out of there pocket to adjust them and the prescription is correct. I called in to see if the doctor could see my daughter ASAP due to an emergency...she lost vision in one eye...and he made room in the schedule and saw her within the hour. Dr. Urriquia is very professional and thorough in his practice. He ran every test on my daughter, kept her comforted, reassured her several times and was caring and compassionate. The time and patience he had with my teenager was commendable and much appreciated. We made a follow up appointment and she got new glasses and I even switched over to this optometrist and got my own prescription filled here too. This is simply the best place around to go to for your eyecare needs. The staff here is amazing, especially Dr. Urriquia. Sometimes, it's difficult or intmidating to try and develop a good rapport with medical professionals, as they see many patients all the time and most times than not, you're just a name on a list to them. But that is not the case with Dr. Urriquia. He is truly awesome and there is no one I trust more! He is kind, friendly, super attentive and knowledgeable, and he really genuinely cares about your eye health and overall well-being. He took the time to go over with me how my daily habits impact my vision issues, and provided me with helpful tips to properly rest my eyes and alleviate some of the stress that I was experiencing with regards to my vision. l am very grateful to him for providing this extra information and always looking out for my best interests. I like the doctors here. All the great review here is spot on regarding the doctors. However, I want to point out that the last time I came here, I was not greeted by a lady that was sitting at the front desk. Not an eye contact and no acknowledgement that I was standing there until somebody else came in from behind her to greet me. It was a good moment of silence. Even if it's not her job, would it hurt you just to look up and smile? You can always say that somebody will be with me shortly. I hate patronizing places that do not have employees who value customers. Without us, you have no jobs. Besides, it's common courtesy. Please stress that to your employees! I don't have any experience with optometrists to compare this to, but I loved it! The people at the desk are friendly and warm. The waiting room is simple, but has a table for kids to color at. Dr. Wu (the son) is awesome! I haven't been to an eye doctor in years! He's very easy to talk to and made it a comfortable exam. Maria is great too! I had been avoiding the optometrist for several years. Some people have a thing about dentists, I have a thing about the eye doctor. I hate that glaucoma test and flashlights in my eyes. Focusing on a finger that goes in and out and around, causing an instant migraine... the worst kind of torture. But the time came when my glasses were so broken, I had to find an optometrist and get my eyes checked. I found Dr. Wu on yelp and decided to give him a try. I was able to get an appointment, right away. The staff was very friendly, and prompt. When I went for my appointment, I began having doubts. The area, coming from certain directions, can seem a little ghetto. But once I arrived, and walked inside the office, it was very clean and bright. I was pleased to see a large selection of glasses, and not just gross, nerdy ones. I was seen almost immediately by the younger Dr Wu, who noticed right away that I have a little bit of an eye phobia. He was very understanding about it, instead of annoyed and disgusted, like most optometrists. He was also very friendly, and was able to determine my prescription quickly. He explained the problems with my eyes in a succinct, thorough way, and asked if I had any questions. (Also, they've updated that ghastly glaucoma test, and it's not bad at all now.) The assistants in his office were also helpful in trying to help me select glasses. It wasn't like other offices where they just dump you in a room full of urkel glasses and say, "everything with the blue sticker is covered by your insurance." I found a nice frame right away, and was out of there in less than 45 minutes. Best optometrist/optometry office I've ever been to. read more
