My dad stopped by today and picked up some takeout food, and I could not help myself. This food was delicious and felt healthy (not salty). I had the steamed red snapper, fried okra, and some red potatoes. We even argued over sharing the plate. The red snapper was large and well priced. The Jamaican lady working in the establishment provided excellent service. My father mentioned how professional and friendly she was, and she prepared the food. She did an amazing job seasoning everything. The restaurant may have changed ownership or recently completed renovations because it looks different from the pictures in other reviews. read more

I've been in Covington for about 17 years now. I like this place a lot more when it was owned by the first owners. They had better attitudes and we're less rude. The food is great though. I don't know who the new lady is, some people say it's TI's mother. That would explain a lot. I don't know though. She's alright sometimes though. I have to give her that. It's just 50/50 read more

Although the food taste good the aggravation of having to wait to order or pickup your order can be aggravating. There was only one customer ahead of me when I entered, no greeting or someone will be with you...We take a seat while the talkative lady behind the counter carries on a conversation with the customer ahead of us. Then the phone rings and we wait until the order is taken, we are finally acknowledged with "I'll get you'll in a minute". The lady proceeds to get raw fish from the freezer and begins to weigh it, by this time we are thinking been here ten minutes and still haven't ordered we got up and left. This is the second time I have left because of slow service and I don't plan to go back. Fish looked great & we ordered fresh shrimp (meds) & had them steamed & deveined w buttah. they were awesome! Even went back for seconds. I love this seafood market. They sell both fresh and frozen seafood as well as cooked, your favorite fried rice, boiled and steam foods; shrimp, lobster, crab for crab lovers. They proprietor(s) are helpful, respectful and friendly. I have spent over $100.00(one-hundred dollars) collectively in my 2 visits. Furthermore, I have recommended this fish market on 278, Covington to friends and acquaintances. The business is clean, well-lighted and there is ample parking space although pavement is a bit rough but at all terrible. I enjoy giving them my business. read more

Ms. T that works there has a very nasty attitude! I put up with her attitude for some time but today was the last time! I ordered my food over the phone and waited 30 minutes out in my car for my name to be called to come inside to get my food. After that I called in there to see what was taking so long. Ms. T tells me my order been ready and that she had came outside twice. When she came out she called someone else name not mine. I've been coming to the place for years but after she said she will eat my food and hung in my face I will never come back there again. She also has a negative review on Facebook from someone else. Do you enjoy standing at the counter alone for ten minutes waiting to be handed the raw shrimp you just bought? Do you like it when your raw shrimp disappear into the back for ten minutes with no explanation? Do you like it when, upon asking where your shrimp are the answer you get is, "I dunno"? I visited for the first time after the family said how great this market was and they were right. I had them steam a pound of large shrimp for me so I could test the freshness before attempting to cook them myself. They we're excellent! I can't count the number of times I've purchased "fresh" raw seafood, only to discover quite the opposite. I am grateful to have found such a good place to buy shrimp here. A very negative experience with this business. I placed and order and was specific that I wanted no seasonings and steamed plain. I arrived home (30 minutes from location) to find everything smothered in heavy seasoning and butter. I attempted to rinse all the shrimp and crab but was unsuccessful in removing the nasty seasoning. I immediately called establishment and asked for manager. I spoke to a person named Ty who stated she was the manager. She took my name and number and told me if I return the following day with the receipt I would be refunded. I ended up throwing all the seafood away as it remained inedible. I returned the following morning when establishment opened and Ty had changed her story. She asked for the product to be returned. She did NOT tell me that I needed to bring it all back when I returned. I told her I had to throw it all away and asked for the promised refund with the presented receipt. She pointed to a handwritten sign that stated "no refunds" that I do not recall seeing the previous day. Coincidence? I don't think so as the only handwritten sign I saw the previous day stated "no food stamps accepted for drinks". I expect to receive the item I ordered and I expect when an establishment fails to provide me my order, as I ordered it, and paid for in good faith, that my business be honored. Not only did I pay $48 and get nothing in return that I could eat, the manager blatantly lied to me and stated she would refund with my receipt. However, once presented, refused to do so. As I stated to the two individuals, including Ty, at the end of the day, you are judged by your honor. It's nearly impossible to receive quality service anymore and this establishment certainly didn't provide quality food nor keep their word regarding my promised refund. I hope they enjoy the $48. They could have had a long term customer as I love seafood. Instead, they lied to me so they are ultimately out hundreds of dollars in business. I won't darken their doors again. read more
