There's nothing about Covington, GA that screams Thai Food and Eat Here but my sense of adventure and chase for the perfect Tom kha gai soup gets the best of me! A dear friend and I met here for lunch and had an enjoyable meal. Amazingly, you can have a conversation in the place... there's no over produced blaring music acting as a distraction. We were served one of my favorite table snacks when we were seated- prawn chips- and ordered from the lunch menu... which comes with a couple of soup choices- yes, you guessed it- Tom kha gai! Very reasonably priced and the service was on point. Is it a Michelin worthy place- no, however, the combination of service, price, and food quality earns all five stars in my book! read more

If this place has closed its doors, thank goodness. I placed an order for pick up when I first moved to the area not too long ago and when I walked in, the at the register was borderline harassing me with his eyes. He proceeds to hit on me when I made it very clear I wasn't interested and just wanted to get my food. I wish the nightmare ended then but when I got home and opened the containers, there was a rancid smell coming from the rice and lo and behold they served me moldy rice. Mind you, rice costs pennies to make. The rest of the food was also below average, below mediocre. It's disappointing too bc there's not a lot of Thai options in the area so you'd think the owners would want to be the best to retain their customers. Awful awful awful. read more

There is a very unassuming Thai restaurant in this strip mall. The food didn't look amazing, but it sure tasted amazing! Was the secret ingredient butter? I'm not sure, but if I'm ever in Covington again, I will definitely go back to this Thai place. The portions were also very generous (probably 3 servings in the one entree of fried rice). read more

The food is decent and refreshing for the area, however, their customer service from the owner is beyond rude. I ordered pick up through the phone because their kids menu is not available to order online. I ordered the fried rice with chicken and shrimp, the sweet and sour chicken with what I thought was going to be fried rice instead of the jasmine rice, and a kids chicken fried rice with no spice. Like I said the food tasted pretty fresh. Definitely not the best Thai I had but sufficient for the time. It seems to be more of a Asian mixed variety place than just a Thai place. The fried rice with chicken and shrimp had a mild spice to it, and it was pretty tasty. The sweet and sour shrimp was just okay. I requested and paid extra to switch the rice from jasmine rice to fried rice. Upon receiving the rice it looked as though it was just seasoned jasmine rice with a specks of egg. I contacted the store thinking it was a mistake and the owner rudely responded saying that was the fried rice that came with the entrees which is a bit deceiving. The rice is just seasoned and not fried so the menu should state that and the fee should reflect that. If I am in the area I can't say I would return solely based on the customer service received with the rice mix up. Coconut Shrimp as an appetizer were extremely tasty. Oriental Chicken Salad was very fresh! Loved the mandarin oranges and water chestnuts. The Shrimp Chips were plentiful as a pre meal munchie. Service was good. Will go back so can try some of the soups! read more

I had a terrible experience tonight I ordered teriyaki steak and it was tough, watered down and flavorless. The owner/chef, refused to refund my money even though I exchanged the steak for pad thai, which is five dollars cheaper. I know we don't have a lot of great food options around these parts, but I will take my hard earned dollars to Conyers and spend them there. See my reviews on "Thai In the Box" or "Baan Thai". They're both very much better, both in taste and quality of their dishes and in service. They are worth the short drive to Conyers. read more

Wonderful! My taste buds were dancing with every bite! We started with the pot stickers because I haven't met a pot sticker yet that wasn't good but these are made in house and really, really good! Main course - I had the cashew nuts with beef over egg fried rice. It comes with peppers, onions, cabbage, green beans and your choice of meat. I chose beef. I just moved down here from Virginia, and I wanted to look around for good, authentic, Thai spots in the area since back home it was around the corner. And I really, and I mean REALLY, wanted to give this place a shot because of the amount of reviews they received. I had ordered the massaman curry, Thai tea, and Thai tea boba through doordash. Massaman curry is suppose to be rich, dark, and brown/yellow colored. And I checked previous pictures on yelp to confirm. And the curry I received was very runny, with a light pink/red to it. I will attach pictures for reference. It was an OKAY curry. Not something to really wow over. Every curry dish is served with jasmine white rice. And to my surprise, my rice had brown spots sitting at the top. Probably from the bottom of the rice cooker where it tends to cook the rice faster. But it's still not a delight to look at first thing when trying out a restaurant for the first time,The peanuts were more on the larger side than what I'm used to. And the chicken was rather chewy. Potatoes were undercooked and the carrots tasted fishy....? I was very throw off and did not bother finishing the rest. The dish itself was not as appealing, but who knows? Maybe they just prepared and packed the wrong curry for my order. But most definitely was not like the ones pictured before. I was so excited to try the Thai tea boba just for them to be out of it!!! No call, no text, nor notification to let me know! I would have been fine with just one regular Thai tea had I known they'd be out of the Thai tea boba. They gave me two regular Thai teas and no compensation for the miscommunication of the Thai tea boba being out, nor offered to charge me the price of a regular Thai tea instead, if I may add. Now finally, the most disappointing of all, the Thai tea itself lacks flavor! It's not even sweet! And I don't know if it's because of their recipe or the fact that my driver missed a turn at my neighborhood and went from 5 minutes away to 15 minutes away, thus watering down the teas, but this is also quite a bummer. And for the price of the tea, I am not surprised at how flavorless it was. Thai teas back home were much more vibrant in color, along with the perfect amount of sweetness and in a fair size. 32oz cups to be exact! They use 12oz to go clear cups and leave all the syrup sitting in the bottom. Will also be attaching a picture for reference. They did not pack any to go utensils or napkins. I absolutely adore thai food. I'm a vegetarian, so my options were very limited, although they had a section for vegetarians which was helpful. I wanted to get something but they were out, so I ended up getting a curry. I thought it was better than most but not phenomenal. The server was really nice, and kept checking up on us. The place itself was really cute, very small place. It's in a small complex, you almost miss it. I would recommend it! Most likely coming back when I'm back in this area! read more

Bangkok Grill is operating as take-out only due to COVID precautions since March 2020. They have hand-sanitizer at multiple locations in the dining room, and a plexiglass shield between the staff and customers at the cash register. Their menu on Yelp is detailed and up to date. We ordered the Cashew Nut with Chicken (spicy good!), and the Ginger Pad with Pork. Both were flavorful, arrived hot, with ample servings to save leftovers for another meal. They accurately predicted when our food would be ready and their service and food were great. We will be back! read more

I'm a vegan so I like the fact that I can eat a few things from here such as the spicy fried rice and curries with the addition of tofu. Most places only offer a salad and white rice. (rolling eyes) The staff is always nice via phone and in person. I usually get takeout, but every time I've come there has been a mixed crowd of people eating. The only issue I would have if I dined in would be the low lighting. It's too dim for my taste. And it's not low light for effect...or to make it "intimate," but it appears to be dark because of the absence of enough light fixtures. read more

Had the chicken Pad See Ew and Thai tea with Bobas. They bring to the table a basket of what I think are shrimp crackers- those things were good and addictive!! The lunch came with a soup- I picked the tomato bisque. Although this is an odd choice for a Thai place, it was quite good. The pad see ew was great but I wish they wouldnt cut up the noodles into bite sized pieces, I really enjoy eating the noodles as they normally are, long. Thai tea was delicious- a tad too sweet but I just let the ice melt a bit. They were very generous with the bobas and I appreciated that because I live for bobas good portion and good prices. Been here a few times and almost always had the Pad Thai. This is not the best Thai food you will ever eat in your life but if you are in Covington this is one of the best places you can go. Once I went with a friend and she did not like her food and the owner gave her a FREE MEAL instantly. How does it get better than that? I felt bad for the owner as she did not have to do something like that. Also, the shrimp chips are very good and on par with what they serve in more expensive Chinese restaurants in New York. This was my third time to eat lunch here. It is a small place, family-run, nicely decorated and very clean. All three times, customers were constantly streaming in and rolling out (very full from the food!) The kitchen turns out dishes consistently and no one waits overly long for food. Prices are fair and ingredients are similar to ones you would see in Thailand. My concern is that the food seems to be getting sweeter and sweeter, which is not how I remember Thai food. I hope this restaurant is not running down the road that many Chinese restaurants have gone. The dishes start becoming so sweet that they no longer resemble the cuisines that they are supposed to be representing. Please re-find some of the chili fire that makes Thai food so exciting and what made me come back two times. You had that fire the first time I visited. We had a wonderful experience dinning at Bangkok Grill on Mother's Day. The service was friendly. The restaurant was cozy and happy. We loved every dish from the complimentary shrimp chips (light and crispy) to the home-made rum cake with vanilla sauce. The papaya salad was refreshing and definitely had a kick. All the dishes (Pad Thai, Panang Vegetables, Spicy Basil with chicken, and Masman with chicken) had its own distinct flavor, each was tasty and made with fresh ingredients. I can't rank them because while we enjoyed all of them we all loved the dish we picked individually the most. Their rice was pearly and delicious. We will definitely eat here again. read more
