My dad, younger sister and I came for breakfast the morning after the Fourth of July. It was super busy, but we were able to get sat pretty quickly. Everything that we ordered was SO good. Dad got the Hungry Man meal, his eggs were cooked perfectly (over medium); sister and I both ordered the two egg speciality with a homemade biscuit, some gravy, their version of home fries and some bacon. EVERYTHING. WAS. AMAZING. Cooked perfectly, no complaints from our party, and honestly some of the best breakfast we have ever had. Cow Patties is our breakfast spot whenever we're in residence at our home in Warsaw. (We're dreaded, part time lake folks! lol) This is a down-home, small town Missouri diner, not First Watch, folks. The decor is a little aged and the furniture and floors a little time worn. They're clean and neat, however. (I too am a lil aged and time worn, so I don't judge! lol) I want to mention the smoking before I say more because soooo many people are giving negative reviews because of it. So I don't smoke. In fact, I'm the worst kind of non-smoker. I'm a former smoker who quit years ago. Many of my family members are smokers, but it bothers me enough that I don't allow smoking in my car or in my home. I have never once been bothered by smoke while dining at this restaurant. In fact, several times we've been there and not a soul was smoking. Other times a handful are smokers, but never, ever has the place been "filled with smoke" or so bad I had to leave and I am a person who can smell a smoker from several feet away. I firmly believe the negative reviews on the smoke are people who find it a nasty habit and because they don't smoke, you shouldn't smoke, either. (You ain't in Johnson County when you're at the lake, kids! lol) That said...... The breakfast is amazing, delicious AND ever so affordable. Huge portions, friendly servers and staff and I say have the biscuits and gravy because oh, Heaven's is it good! Their omelets are my second favorite. Even when it's a full house, we have never waited more than 20 mins or so for our food. As a rule it's more like 10-15. They keep your coffee cup full while you wait, so relax and enjoy visiting with your family if you have to wait a little bit. The last time we were there for breakfast, we noticed a little zip lock baggie thumbtacked to the post by the cash register. It contained a set of dentures. Apparently, someone dined and left their teeth behind, so the staff kindly bagged 'em up and put them up for the owner to reclaim. I was looking forward to trying this place for breakfast but the first thing that hit me was the smell of smoke. We would have gone to Cosmic Coffee but they are closed on Sunday. We didn't actually eat the food. We walked in and sat down and were hit by a nasty smell. That is when we noticed people smoking inside the building. I get sick from tobacco smoke and the others I were with don't care for it either. We got up and told the waitress why we were leaving. This place was great! The staff were friendly, my glass was never empty and the food was good. Smoking was allowed so I didn't really like that, but overall the bathrooms were clean and the place was nice. My boyfriend got the haystack meal and it was huge it cost $7.99 I ordered the Meat lovers omelet which was $8.29 with an iced tea that cost $1.49 and my mother in law ordered 2 French toast and 3 pieces of bacon which cost $6 something. I would like to give this establishment two stars simply because our waitress was very nice and attentive. She was genuine country and I love that as I am, too. I truly love my neighbors here in Warsaw. However, the SMOKE SMELL throughout the entire room inspired visions of vomit spewing from my mouth. The customers smoke. The staff smokes...even in the kitchen while cooking your food. Now, I'll move on to the "food". Let's be honest. Warsaw is a black hole of disgusting plated slop in dire need of a new, QUALITY restaurant that serves delicious meals in an appetizing manner. There is no REAL FOOD in Warsaw, food that comes from a farm instead of Walmart's processed-food, freezer section. Nothing we ordered was real food. The burgers are flavorless hockey pucks unworthy of consumption. The "Swiss cheese" on the Mushroom Swiss burger isn't cheese at all but processed cheese food. It seemed more like the white, individually-wrapped American singles pretending to be Swiss but falling miserably short as it's just "processed cheese food." The crinkle cut fries are straight out of a Great Value freezer bag. They are not homemade, hand-cut French fries. Fries are POTATOES. How hard is it to make French fries from scratch, from real potatoes instead of pulling them out of some freezer bag of over-processed trash? And fries DO NOT come with their burgers. A bag of potato chips does. You have to pay $2.99 for a side of fries with your hockey puck. But you never get the potato chips that have already been factored into the price of the burger. What a sham and a sneaky trick on the restaurant's part. If you're thinking you could get a salad as something healthy, think again. Their choice of "salads" is basically nil. A side salad is a decent size, for sure. That was nice. But it's Iceberg lettuce, plastic-like, generic shredded "cheese" and a couple diced tomato pieces. The "chef" salad comes with some sort of meat, the same Iceberg lettuce and fake cheese as the side salad, and like two stale croutons, I'm sure taken from a Great Value bag. How hard is it to make homemade croutons that kiss your lips with an instant crunch to adorn a salad? This not-so-edible mess is served with dressings brought to the table in squeeze bottles OR half-used, greasy, store-bought bottles of the cheapest possible brand. If you order an "appetizer", it comes out with your meal and on a shared plate with other items. So you pay full price but receive half as much as if it were plated properly. There is NOTHING here that can't be thrown together at home for 1/10th the cost. It's all generic, low-quality slop which speaks volumes about how the owner must feel about our beautiful, local community. As General Cornwallis says in the movie The Patriot, it's a horse blanket. I would love to give pointers and tips to the service staff, cooks and owner but I think I'll just consider starting my own restaurant in Warsaw, MO that serves REAL, QUALITY FOOD, freshly-picked from a local farm that's both delicious and health-building yet still affordable. I think a restaurant's fare should aptly reflect the heart of the owner and management, don't you? I'm truly sorry, Cow Patties, but your name says it all. read more

The more time we spend in Warsaw and going to the local (non chain) places we find the locals exceptionally friendly people and fun to hang out with! This is a small restaurant and they allow smoking. Seems like everyone in the place had a cigarette lit up. The smoke really took away from the food for sure and almost unbearable.
