They were both exceptional. The corned beef was the best I've ever had and was tossed with crispy tater tots. We wanted to try the Buffalo and elk sausage and they were both fantastic. On a road trip from California to South Dakota and back home through the Gran Tetons we found this little gem. I have eaten Cobb Salads for years and am from the state the Cobb originated. The Cowboy Cafe Cobb is the best I have ever had. Topped with 4 large warm seasoned shrimp and the rest of the ingredients mixed rather than separated was a nice touch. The entire salad had a hint of seasoning and my blue cheese dressing was definitely cafe made bit stock bought. Definitely a come back if I was in the area. read more

There are not a lot of food options in Dubois and you can't go wrong with the Cowboy Cafe. Good food, friendly service, and a great mix of tourists coming and going from the national parks and locals. Stopped in on a Friday night and was not disappointed. Chef salad, cowgirl burger, and chicken tenders were great. Grilled cheese was good (a bit too much cheese). Highly recommend upgrading to sweet potato fries. Jewel in the hills !! Being a really small town, Dubois has very few choices when it comes to food. We picked cowboy cafe based on good reviews from other yelpers. Menu selection is pretty similar to most brunch places but I did notice how they described their menu selections in a fun, unique way (e.g. Cow Girl!!). Portion sizes are pretty big !! We ordered a couple of omelettes , a skillet egg pesto sandwich and some sides of french toast and . Food was exceptional and fresh In summary, 5 stars since the location is rad, the food was very fresh and well balanced... also the staff were really nice. I would recommend this as a MUST for anyone traveling through Dubois with a hunger for good breakfast/brunch. read more

This was so good we ate here twice during our four day stay. There was always a waiting line but they were very efficient without rushing you. Highly recommend. We spent the night in Dubois and got takeout from the Cowboy Cafe for dinner. After several nights of burgers I was thrilled to see salads on the menu. Everything we tried was great. My mom hailed the Cali BLT as the best she's ever had. We also sampled several pies and gave those 2 thumbs up. But probably my very favorite thing is that they have online ordering. For dinner, the jack mushroom burger and the crispy rotisserie chicken were home runs. And, the pie was homemade and delicious. The staff was efficient and friendly. Overall, a tasty burger! Absolutely loved the Nutella Pecan Pie. A couple of employees weren't wearing masks correctly (over the mouth and not over both the nose and mouth) and I watched a cook come out of the kitchen without a mask on. Our server was lovely. read more

Like Dubois itself, this place is friendly and unpretentious and a favorite with tourists and locals alike. It's hoppin' all summer long, so plan accordingly. You'll be waiting in line for a table most likely, but it's worth the wait. Friendly, excellent service and good food. Awesome. Stopped here for dinner last night because my wife had seen trout on the menu. We both had the trout and it was great. Pies looked great, but we resisted. I think we were the only 2 people on the place that could resist the pies. Today, we returned for lunch. I had seen a "Housemade Ruben" last night and couldn't leave town without trying it. Again, wonderful!! Possibly the best Ruben I have had. My wife had the a Chili Lime Chicken Sandwich. We both loved our lunches. Still no room for pie. If in DuBois, give this place a try. Service was excellent, even when they were getting slammed. Don't think you will be disappointed. It is small, so expect a wait, but it is worth it. Wow! Our meals here today were fantastic! I highly recommend the chicken havarti sandwich. The flavors all meld together into a wonderful sandwich. The cheddar broccoli soup was a great accompaniment. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the cran-Brie chicken sandwich. But the pie! Oh my! There were at least 20 options and I went with the peach caramel crunch ala mode while hubby chose the apple caramel crunch aka mode. They were spectacular! This spot is a gem. Great staff and food. Located in Dubois, nearing Yellowstone. It closes a little early, so try to be there before 8pm.

On a drive outside of the Jackson Hole area of Wyoming we found this place. Dubois (pronounced with the s because the people here didn't want it to sound French) is a pretty small town as most of them along this part of 26/287 are. Not too many food choices here, but I'm glad we stumbled upon this little gem. It had that look from the outside that it should be good. Sometimes you get that feeling from a place when you walk inside. I had that feeling as soon as I stepped foot in here. The place was packed as it was around breakfast time. The food coming out of the kitchen looked pretty good. I had the elk sausage which was spiced with jalapenos. That came with eggs and a side of toast and hash browns. As you can see from the picture, it was a good amount of food. My friend went with the chicken fried steak. It was huge. The amount of food you get and the prices they charge are very good. They did advertise homemade pies and I am definitely a pie fan, but we went without. If I ever find myself back in this part of the country, I will be sure to try the pie. read more

Who'd a thunk??? Traveling out of Jackson, we decided we wanted to have an easy first day traveling and not go too far. We had an incredibly beautiful trip through the valleys and mountains leading to Dubois. And once we got there, not a nothing town, but a cute little downtown area, with a number of bars, restaurants and gift shops. We checked YELP before going into town for dinner, and glad we did. We tried the Cowboy Cafe, and as we sat waiting to order, EVERYTHING that came out of the kitchen looked fantastic! My wife had the Ranch steak, and not quite sure what cut it would be, was pleasantly surprised that it was cooked perfectly-- thick, tender and delicious. I was shocked to see some of the gourmet options on the menu. What caug ht my eye -a chicken breast covered in pesto, with blue cheese and walnuts. It was absolutely one of the best meals I've had anywhere. Excellent. We had read that the Cowboy was known for its pies, so, of course, we had to check that out as well. We had the mixed berry pie a la mode and we ended up fighting over the last piece, fresh, juicy and mighty tasty. We never imagined we'd find such quality food in the little town of Dubois. The best kind of surprise there is when traveling. read more

If you are staying in the city of Dubios, this is a must stop location. We only stayed one night, but had dinner at this business. The food was excellent but the real surprise is the dessert. They probably have different types of pies depending on the season and they do run out of slices. The A/C inside worked a little to good that I had to put on a jacket when it was 85 degrees outside.
