I had a great experience with Cowboy Cooling. I called them about a week ago about a quote for insulation. Jon came out within two days and gave us a quote and suggested some duct work. I never felt pushed or talked down to when Jon was explaining the issues with the set up of our current system. I never felt the pressure of an upsell. Jon was present on install day so there was no questions or really any attention needed by me other than to make sure the dog didn't run out while they were blowing in the insulation. Last night we finally slept in a master bedroom fit for polar bears. I have bought every "bamboo" sheets, Cooling mattered pad cover and fan known to man. I could saved myself some money by calling Cowboy Cooling earlier. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. Between a Friday no-show and a Sunday 'disappearing act. I'm Extremely disappointed with Cowboy Cooling. After a no-show on Friday night, I was told they had an accident and rescheduled for Sunday morning. The technician arrived, said he was going outside to check the unit, and then simply drove away without a word. I sat inside for two hours thinking he was working, only to realize he was gone. When I called the office, they promised to find out what happened and call me back, but I never heard from them again. They charged a service fee and provided zero service. Frauds!! I had them come out to my house because my heater stopped working. The technician diagnosed it and ordered the part that the unit needed, I was told it would take one week to arrive. Well, one week turned into 3 1/2 weeks with no heat, no updates, unless I called Lacey myself. I tried to cancel and asked for a refund, but Lacey apologized and said she was going to make it right. So, after all the hassle and headaches I was told by Lacey that for all my patience and the inconvenience caused to me, I would receive a full refund, and they would still come and install the part. Well, that did not happen. The technician came and installed the part but there was no follow-up or refund issued by them. So, I contacted my bank and disputed the charge, my bank agreed and issued a refund and then investigated. I was then notified by my bank that the decision was reversed after research with her bank. Very disappointed!!!!! Scammers. A technician came to my house today because our A/C was throwing hot air. Technician stated it was not the thermostat, but possibly the unit itself. He then states it could be the motherboard, which would cost $598 to replace, but could not guarantee that it would fix the problem. Second option was to replace the whole unit at $5,900. WHAT?!?!?! Our current unit is 2 years old. Told him, we would get back with him. We called another technician out for a 2nd opinion. Technician stated, "I think I know what it is", before he even looked at the unit. The Reversing Valve plug was disconnected. He plugged it back in and added a little bit of freon. Unit was back up and running and house was cooled down within a short time. SMH. Pathetic family owned business!!!!! read more

I paid $216 for an annual maintenance contract. They performed my fall 2021 maintenance with no problem. However, when it came time to schedule my spring 2022, no one would call me back to schedule. I have requested half of my back and still haven't heard from them. I even left them a message this week and still have not received a call back. The most terrible customer service that I have ever received. And, they just tried to charge me another $216 for the service contract renewal. So beware, they will take your money and not perform the services. read more

I was sent Cowboy Cooling by my warranty company, Landmark Home Warranty. The initial tech did not arrive during the scheduled block of time. I eventually had to have my entire AC system replaced. The service team arrived late. Left parts inside and outside of my home, and vented the freon from the old unit to the atmosphere instead of using a capturing device. Very unprofessional. To top that all off, they left me no paperwork so that I could file the warranty. Lucky for me, I took a picture of the boxes before they installed the unit and was able to complete the warranty sign-up with that. My new system doesn't get as cold as my older, less efficient one. I think it actually needs more freon. I have pictures that I will try to attach later. read more

We had cowboy cooling install a new ac/ furnace. 3 months later we had hot water heater problems. The plumber from the home warranty company stated the hotwater heater had been moved and broke the seal on the drain in addition the exhaust pipe was removed. I know from being in the attic before cowboy it was there. A rep from cowboy came and was very adamant that they didn't do anything wrong. In addition he brought another individual of size as to intimidate me. It didn't work. ITS a shame there is no accountability. Would never recommend them. read more

Cowboy Cooling has been one of the most dishonest businesses I've ever hired. They were sent to me through a home warranty company to repair an AC coil that was failing. They replaced the AC coil but in the process didn't properly refit the plenum to create an air tight AC system. The plenum didn't fit exactly to the new AC coil so instead of properly modifying the existing plenum, they simply tapped and put mastic around the gap b/w the AC coil and plenum.  At the same time, they FAILED TO SECURE the plenum appropriately (with straps or supports) and it collapsed in causing hot, dirty attic air to be pumped into my AC system and creating a potential mold issue with humidity and condensation building up around the system. Upon trying to contact them over the weekend of the collapse, they did not return calls.  I had to spend my own money to have another AC tech come out and fix the plenum so that my AC worked correctly, safely over the weekend when it was 90 degrees outside. The contractor sent a tech out on that Monday and all he did was apply mastic around the tape the second tech I hired put on to close the gaps in the system. The plenum should've been secured with a strap from the roof or with supports. They did neither and as a result the plenum collapsed and separated from the AC coil unit. I have pictures of their poor work (see attached). In addition, the furnace exhaust vent was damaged when they replaced the AC coil and was taken off by the contractor's techs and I have pictures that show where they reinstalled it with different screw holes clearly evident! The next rain storm caused water to leak in from my roof where the vent pipe reached the roof. There was no leak in that vent structure prior to the AC coil "repair".  The roof inspector I had come out showed me how the roof vent had been dislodged due to shifting of the exhaust vent pipe. I now have to pay an additional $900 to have the roof vent and exhaust vent repaired so water doesn't leak into the system or my house. Upon trying to contact Cowboy Cooling for 2+ weeks, I only got voicemail and they never returned my emails or voicemails I left. I called at least 20 times over two weeks. Also, I never got the warranty paperwork for the AC coil that was installed. Buyer beware with these guys. Totally unprofessional and I have filed a BBB complaint as well. read more

They made no effort to set a follow up appointment after turning the system off. Multiple attempts to the scheduling supervisor but did not receive a return call. This company is awful. I've had two different dealings with this company through our Home Warranty company. The first time was last summer. They came out diagnosed the problem and said they didn't carry the parts needed and then they told home warranty the problem was my problem, so I had to call another place and pay out of pocket. The second time was today 7/8/19, my appointment time was from 8am to 12pm. I haven't seen or heard from them, and can't get them to answer the phone. Wow this place really sucks.. Don't use and tell your home warranty people to use another company.. This place just finds reasons not to fix your A/C so you have to pay out of pocket, plus they get paid through your home warranty. read more

Cowboy cooling was sent to my house under Landmark Home Warranty because an AC blower fan had stopped working. Cowboy Cooling said the fan had malfunctioned because dust was in the system and cause was lack of maintenance. They quoted me an outrageous amount to repair it out of pocket, and Landmark denied the claim due to lack of maintenance. Never heard anything like it in my life, and sounded like a scam so that the warranty company could avoid coverage and Cowboy Cooling could make an extra buck. I immediately canceled my policy with Landmark after this event and found another company who came out and said the dust was completely normal and repaired it at a fair price. Don't waste your time and money with either Landmark or Cowboy Cooling. read more

Usually I am happy to leave a review for a local business, not the case with Cowboy Cooling, the worst customer service I had in YEARS! If you have a chance to go with other company, you better do just that! I didn't really had a choice due to my home warranty used them (home warranty company is also notified). It has been over a week after payment for the part is made and still nothing has been done. Mid summer in Houston and no AC, the "office manager" Lacie was not helpful at all - could not say when the AC will be fixed, when the part will arrive, constantly talked over me with all kinds of nonsense and eventually hang up. To sum up - if you want to pay right away and wait for unknown amount of time with absolutely horrible customer service, that's the place to use - a horrible Cowboy Cooling. UPDATE: after leaving the review - presumably owner called - yelled at me and canceled the order.... very classy! Horrible costumer service, money hungry. I had Robert come out to my house for a cooling issue he is in my attic for 5 minutes tops and tells me it's my Evap coil "it's leaking". He tries to charge me a arm and leg so I called around and it was a installation problem. Then he proceeded to call me and asked me politely to f*** off so professional. Called a couple friends and one worked with him and he told me that he goes out for maintenance calls and insist trying to replace things that aren't broken and nothing is wrong like contactors and capacitors. Cowboy Cooling and Landmark insurance are working together to try to scam people. My elderly mother in law and father in laws insurance company (Landmark insurance) hired them to come fix their air conditioning and they quoted them $4000 out of pocket to fix the air ducts and come to find out Cowboy Cooling had unhooked the air ducts causing the problem. We hired someone that came and verified they had caused the issue and fixed the problem they created to scam my in laws. Please everyone BEWARE of these scammers! read more

In Dec2020/Jan 2021, we lost our downstairs heat and called them to check it out. They said the heat exchanger was rusted out and the furnace needs to be replaced. We got a price quote and by late Jan 2021, had a new furnace and heat back in the home. April 2021 we decide to take a vacation. My family lets us know when we get back that our house had a massive gas leak during the time we were away. My grandparents went to check on the house on April 21, 2021, and encountered a "wall of gas". Centerpoint was called out and detected a massive leak originating from the furnace. Apparently, the thousands I spent on the furnace was enough and they couldn't be bothered to replace the supply valve that was as old and rusted as the original furnace. Nope, they just slapped a pipe from the rotted valve that had a newer, up-to-code valve that went to the furnace and didn't bother to let me know or even price it out! Centerpoint said had I not turned my A/C to off the week I was gone, the click would have ignited the gas and blown my house up. I have been trying to get in touch with the owners, or really ANYONE besides the poor receptionist who finally gave me a cell number that lead me to Lacey, who now blocks my calls and has not responded to a single text, call, voice mail, or email. Lacey, who as I understand is the Co-owner or married to the Owner, is REFUSING COMMUNICATION WITH A CUSTOMER WHO ALMOST LOST THEIR HOUSE OVER THE REPAIRS THEY PERFORMED. It's been over 6 months. I had to get another contractor to fix the issue and they have pictures and documents of the repairs. edit: Scary that we were also given Cowboy Cooling from our Home warranty company LANDMARK HOME WARRANTY. Oddly enough, they also diagnosed the "Loss of heat" as a blower motor initially. The airflow had stopped completely, they said the "blower motor had failed due to dust build up and lack of maintenance" which I got super irate over because the blower motor is THE ORIGINAL 40 YEAR OLD BLOWER MOTOR. Yet that wasn't covered. These guys are definitely in cahoots with Landmark Warranty. If you call with your warranty company, expect zero fixes and zero coverage! read more

In August of 2019, I was assigned to Cowboy Cooling through Landmark Home Warranty. It took several visits to get a proper diagnosis and fix. They are very hard to get by phone and wait times for even follow up appointments are long. Eventually, after 2 visits, they convinced me that purchasing a new coil and extended warranty service through their company would save me time and money in the long run. This extended warranty included reduced prices and guaranteed shorter wait time in addition to annual service twice a year. Total cost was around 2k. Now it's May, and again, my air is not working. When I called them for service on the unit, I was told that they could not even service the unit without going through Landmark to get the part approved. I was directed to call Landmark again to request they come back out for service. Again, they are very hard to get by phone for any decent customer support. However, I did as I was told, only to later be told by Landmark that Cowboy Cooling declined to come do the service. I was shocked. I called back and finally reached the front desk clerk who assured me that the supervisor would speak with me today, regarding this matter. The supervisor did not return my call. However, she did cancel my extended service agreement that was paid up until August 2020. This company is highly unprofessional. Please be very cautious when assigned to this company. Professionalism is sorely lacking, and efficiency is worse. They will take your money and not follow through with service. God bless the lady who answers the phone. Initially had good luck with minor repairs but that all changed when there was a major problem. Just like the others with Landmark Warranty and Cowboy Cooling as the servicer it suddenly turned into a band aid on a hemmorage with substantial cost to me. The Service Manger "explained" how their integrity was on the line if they recommended a replacement of the system instead of just replacing the shattered compressor. He didn't have a clue about the service history and really couldn't have cared less. It was all about their integrity with Landmark, not about me. So as others have said just say no Cowboy Cooling. They are just running a shoddy ripoff business in companion with Landmark Home Warranty. I would give them zero stars if that were an option. read more

Landmark Warranty sent these guys out to do some warranty work. Just like Landmark Warranty it was all about squeezing every penny out of you and telling you very minimal is covered under warranty. They came out and misdiagnosed my system, charged me $2,000 out of pocket and the same day it was installed it stopped working. They came out the next day and told me it would me another $1400 for cleaning or $2000 out of pocket for a new unit or the AC compressor would burn up. I called and spoke with the supervisor Lacey and she hung up on me for no reason and then refused my calls. Landmark wiggled and dances their way out of this situation too. No wonder these two companies work together. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH EITHER OF THEM OR YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU EVER HAVE A PROBLEM. I'm cutting my losses and moving on to work with some honest companies. My grandfather has been in the business for over 50 years and he said these two companies were ridiculous. Landmark was making me pay for parts that were essential for the unit. I feel like I got scammed. Just my opinion. read more
