I went here yesterday on a rainy Sunday afternoon at 2:30pm with a small group of 3 total. They do not do reservations for groups under 10. We were told there would be a 25 min wait or we could order at the bar upstairs. Do we went upstairs. We all ordered the Ruben. We had clam chowder, fresh guacamole with chips and the buffalo shrimp for apps. We also had a rum drink. Everything was very good. Very solid. Excellent ingredients and execution. The pastrami on the Ruben was succulent and delicious. The bread was delicious too. I can't wait to go back and order the sushi. I was told that they serve it Friday-Sunday starting at 4:30PM. We were headed to the Hamptons for the day to enjoy the sun after a week of rain. I looked on Yelp to find a good spot for lunch with great views and came across Cowfish. This was the perfect stop in Hamptons bays before heading to the beach. The service was extremely slow even though the restaurant was not packed but the views and the food were worth it. We asked for a table on the patio. The wind could get cold at times but it was still worth it. The views are great and peaceful. The starters were my favorite of the meal. We had the cornbread and chowder due to Yelp recommendations and I agree. The cornbread was delicious although we had to ask for extra butter (it was a bit dry without). The chowder was also delicious. It was thin compared to most but the flavor was worth it. For the entrees we had the fish sandwich (tasty), the ceasar salad with chicken (average) and the NOLA shrimp (shrimp were good but the sauce was not for me). All in all I would come back just for the apps and enjoy a drink on the patio. If you are around the area I would recommend stopping by. read more

I requested to come here for my birthday and wow we had the best experience as a large group since COVID! They do not require you do wear masks, just reccommend, and the whole atmosphere is dreamy. From the moment you walk in the back, along the water and to the inside/outside is the perfect scene. We sat at a lovely circke table for 5-6 people inside in the corner of the windows, great table! I've been wanting to come to cowfish for ages and I finally got the chance to come with three of my friends. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor space where all the tables are safely distanced. Indoors there were only a handful of tables and the fans were circulating the air. All of the staff are wearing masks. To see the menu you need to read a QR code with your phone. Personally I couldn't get the menu to load because I didn't have service but our waiter was kind enough to hand us paper copies. For starters we got chips and guacamole & the spinach artichoke dip. You could tell they use fresh ingredients. We all got the Cowfish Burger which were all cooked to our liking. The burger was delicious! You could tell it was made from high quality beef. The fries were a little bit thin to my liking but that's just preference. They weren't quite shoestring but definitely on the thinner, more petite side. Nonetheless they were crispy and perfectly salted. Ketchup was provided in small containers. I wish I took a photo of the burger but it was quite large. I was stuffed after eating it. Regardless I went ahead and got dessert. I split the cookie cake and banana cream pie. The cookie cake was hands down my favorite and one of the best cookie cakes I've ever had. The banana cream pie wasn't overly sweet which was a nice complement to the cookie cake. It was certainly refreshing though! I'd recommend it to someone who isn't a fan of sugary desserts. I would highly recommend making a reservation as this place was swamped when we got here. Especially for larger parities. There's a small waiting section by the hostess stand and a bar in the back to sit at while you wait for your table. It was a lively atmosphere with a gorgeous view of the harbor. One thing to note is that they do have valet parking in addition to self parking. The self parking lot is usually quite full though. Overall it was a fantastic choice for dinner on a summer evening! So to start my dining experience, me and my wife are looking for a good seafood dish for Father's Day and of course, cowfish came to mind as it's nice location offers a view and some good seafood items once we arrive for our reservation at 4pm we are seated immediately and we took to the menu to order some appetizers Which being on the water wanted to order some items from the raw bar. Hostess comes over and says that the entire raw bar is out! mind you this was Father's Day Sunday at dinner time and none of the items from the Raw bar were available. There's a seafood market right next-door. How do they not have oysters? available for their dining experience, nonetheless not a dealbreaker, We decided to order soup and salads instead. My wife got the clam chowder soup, and after about four spoonfuls of it, she spits her food into the bowl and finds a chunk of steel wool from a brush that's used to clean pots and pans that she spit out of her mouth //gross. she was disgusted by it , waitress came over took the soup away, offered a replacement, but of course we declined as who knows what else that pot of soup might still have floating in it. The manager came over and apologized and said we will take care of you guys. The rest of the meal came out at different times for my wife and my two children, but the rest of the food was good enough for us even though that kinda spoiled it for my wife. Lobster rolls were ok for us. when it came time to leave we got the Bill and surprisingly enough after all these hiccups, they didn't comp anything on the bill not even a drink just didn't add the soup to the bill that had Brillo metal floating in it. Guess that's managements way of "we'll take care of you guys". accidents happen and I'm understanding to these things slipping up, but there's a way of management going about these things to improve the dining experience of its patrons as a manager, I would be appalled. What kind of customer service experience are they trying to show with quality control going out the window my bill was almost $350 for the four of us and it was very disappointing , we dine multiple venues all over and this has been by far the worst experience I had two cocktails, which were double shot of tequila on the rocks and they charged for that $68 alone! $17 per shot! is a bit much but with a great dining experience service and good food I'd pay it. There's a way to make things right and this was not one of them no raw bar at seafood place on the water on Father's Day Sunday at dinner time is inexcusable will not be coming back giving two stars because the young girl serving us was very polite and agreed that it was gross and unacceptable but management seems to think that a oh well will suffice it's ok live and learn read more

I have been going to Cowfish on and off for the past 7 years and always enjoyed my experience... until tonigh. The food good...and ambiance great , but the service was subpar. Our waitress could not have been less engaged or friendly. The only time she perked up was at the very end of our meal when she knew her tip was coming. My sister and I are usually very generous tippers. The service has got to be horrible for us to tip anything less than 20-22%. That changed tonight. I think our server forgot what industry she was in. It's called hospitality for a reason. She gave off a I'm better than you vibe. She barely smiled, didn't say anything back multiple times after I said thank you. We were not difficult customers, so I really don't understand what her problem was, but I would say she isn't cut out for the hospitality restaurant business. I would still return because it's still a cool place but if I got that server again I would have to ask for a different one. read more

Though I had heard of Cowfish and always wanted to try it, I never had the opportunity to go until the other day, when I found myself in the Hampton Bays area at dinnertime. The restaurant was close by and they were offering takeout orders to go. Since we were far from home, myfriend and wanted to get food that we can eat with our hands. He ordered the blackened fish sandwich and I ordered the Gibbs burger, with gruyere cheese and dijonnaise. Absolutely perfect! We ordered a pint of delicious rum punch to wash it all down and found a great spot by the Shinnecock Canal to enjoy this most delicious meal. The service we received over the phone and then picking up the food was great. I would add though,that if you don't know the place, it's kind of hard to find. You have to go through the parking lot of another restaurant, Out Of the Blue Seafood, at the corner of Montauk Highway and Canoe Place Rd.to get to Cowfish, which looks like a great place to dine. Except while we were waiting for the table we asked if we could sit outside on the railing overlooking the water and the waitress was not happy we sat there meanwhile we were told it was ok to be there while we waited . We ordered drinks so not sure why we got an attitude . Then we sat at the table after about a half hour . We ordered the seafood tower. I don't eat oysters but my wife said they were good . The shrimp was ok, lump crab was good the lobster tails were not fresh . I wanted the lobster roll but after the tower decided not to get it . The tower was a avg amount not worth 135 dollars . So I only had an app for lunch after . I got the pork belly . It's was ok not great . My son got the fish sandwich which was good and wife got the ceased salad it was good but too much dressing . Our server was great no complaints about her ! The restaurant itself is nice . Lots of bees outside in the summer . Overall experience was good not a five star place and thought it was over priced . Ordered Brussel sprout app- WOW. blown away delish. 2 Fish sandwiches - both very nice size and absolutely fresh and cooked to perfection. Came with. Went here a few times for weekday happy hour and some yummies to nosh on. The sushi: wonderful. The Cesar salad: my mouth just started watering. The oysters: sweet & salty. There weren't any seats left outside so we sat right at the open-air bar looking out over the water. The bartenders were attentive and super friendly, I loved the small talk and what seemed like sincere interest in our light conversation. We originally thought we were going to miss out by not sitting outside, but to be honest it was even better inside. Can't wait to go back this summer for happier hours and also try dinner! read more

We sat at the bar because they were super crowded on a Saturday night in the summer and we didn't have a reservation. We ordered a local Pilsner on tap, Brussel Sprouts, oysters, and burgers. The oysters were excellent, super fresh! We really liked the Brussel sprouts, they were nice and crispy without too much oil and had a great Dijon sauce. Our burgers were really great, a nice sized patty and with fresh items on top and a good Mayo-mustard sauce. I had a baked potato instead of fries and my fiancé had fries (both solid, nothing fancy). Oysters were fresh, small and perfectly shucked. Nola shrimp entree was delicious, seriously what is in that sauce. There both were definitely a "must have". The stuffed baked potatoes that came with the prime rib specials were a meal in itself. The horseradish condiment for the prime rib was scrumptious. However, when our prime rib dinners served, they were so rare that - they were purple. we asked for MEDIUM. We all sent them back. The waitress who was just a delight, retained our potatoes on a separate plate so we could start eating them . The prime ribs were returned and they were just fine. Moist, flavorful and tender. Perhaps it was our fault for saying "medium"... . However, really don't think so. ‍. That's why I'm giving only 3 stars!!! We sent my daughter, who was visiting from Florida, her boyfriend, his 3 boys, my daughter's best friend(who happens to be a emergency room pediatrician from NYC), her 2 daughters and her husband to Cowfish for dinner Monday night. (The day after Easter Sunday) I couldn't think of another local restaurant that would seat them outside with heaters. I went here once years ago with my mother for my birthday after returning from college. It was the perfect ending to our day on wine tours. I came here again for my birthday 6 years later and it was just as good! I had scallops with fall flavors over risotto the first time (I remembered it 6 years later, that's how good it was) but this time I got steak with their special butters and crazy loaded baked potato. The steak was so tender and juicy, but that baked potato was wildly good! It was very quiet being 4pm on an overcast weekend in late October but it was still so beautiful and just as hospitable as I remembered.
