For years this has been our favorite spot. We usually only come Sept/Oct. Another fabulous lunch outside on a beautiful fall day. Lobster stuffed mushrooms to die for. Red pepper bisq amazing! We also had the salmon special, delicious. I believe the name of my drink was the Montauk mule outstanding. Just a wonderful day/ lunch at Cowfish. Property alone is breathtaking. Love the fact you can enjoy a drink after lunch in one of their many sitting areas. If I can say just one thing. Would love if they could space the time out a bit before they serve your lunch. Highly recommend Cowfish; my husband and I had a great lunch from start to finish. The service was friendly, and attentive. It was crowded and people were complaining about the wait, and at NO time did ANY of the staff have anything but a smile on their face and a kind word. They did their best to keep patrons happy and get them seated as quickly as possible. We were a small party of two and willing to sit wherever they could seat us so our wait was relatively brief. We started with the deviled eggs with brown sugared bacon, and skillet cornbread with honey butter. The eggs were delicious, I'm a big fan of sprinkling bacon bits on deviled eggs and the hint of brown sugar gave a great hint of sweetness with the savoriness of the deviled egg giving a delicious balanced full flavored experience. The cornbread was the perfect, sweet, accompaniment to the savory eggs. You could tell this was made from scratch, it was fresh and delicious with corn kernels. The generous dollop of honey butter was the perfect spread that complimented the sweetness of the corn beautifully. For our entrees I got the jumbo diver scallops, pan-seared, with maple risotto, brown sage butter, beets, and a spiced nut medley. The scallops were cooked perfectly with a beautiful caramelized sear. Complimenting the scallops was the maple risotto and beets. This was a beautifully executed, well rounded dish. My husband got the brunch burger special which was an 8oz CAB patty with bacon, cheddar cheese, avocado mash, chopped Bermuda onion, lettuce, and sunny-side egg on a brioche bun. Simple, and to the point, the burger was perfectly medium rare, juicy and flavorful, the toppings were fresh, and delicious. What more could you ask from a burger?! He ate half and had to tap out before finishing the other half. This thing was colossal. I brought my mom who's literally always a hand full; she's got a big personality! She was ecstatic and enjoyed playful banter with the staff-- this was so rewarding you have no idea how difficult it can be to please her. 5 stars to the staff! The lighting is so crisp and bright. The rooftop has a beautiful view of the sunset. The environment is like fancy farm but relaxed. Every angle is beautiful and a photo opp! The BUFFALO SHRIMP is L I F E. My next plan is to just order one as a side for every course. The deviled eggs are so smooth and easy to eat. YUM! The ribs melt off the bone-- butter! What a beautiful location! This place is odd... odd but awesome! Like an awesome little adventure. Starting with getting to the place you'll see a small sign on the side of the road or much like my friend did, pass it, oblivious to the fact your phone GPS telling you to go back behind another restaurant on the main road to get to the windy, shared, dirt road. (sort of inauspicious for such a nice place) Once you find your way back to the parking lot you'll be parked by valet and it's on to the main event. Walking down the path to request a table will remind you of the winding road to initially find the restaurant, and walking into the restaurant will do a bit of the same. Cowfish is a bit of an odd design in that its so... sectioned off... There's the staircase immediately to the left which takes you up to a bar area which overlooks the water and restaurant below; there are a few picnic-style tables up here and you can eat at the bar which is what I highly suggest you do. After putting your name down and giving them your phone number so they can text you in an hour to tell you your table is ready, shoot upstairs for a drink and watch the seats like a hawk... "follow me if you want to live [eat]." this will be the best bet as I sat just after ordering my drink and skipping the wait; we had a great view from above and avoided an hour long wait. If instead of making that left to go upstairs, you continued down the winding path, you will enter the main restaurant through again, a rather odd feeling way; the bathrooms will be the first left turn -FYI. There are a few tables and chair outside just past the second entrance and there's also another bar. It was all a bit confusing for a split second until I asked if there was a bar we could sit at. it was a game where I had to ask the questions to get the full picture. "Can we sit at the bar?" "Can we order food at the bar?" .... apparently the downstairs one you can get a limited menu, the upstairs one a full menu... or something like that, like I said it was confusing. All of these words and I haven't even spoken about the best part, the food! yeah, the view is nice but the food's even better. We started with the Maui Wowi Roll; wowi was it good, and a pretty unique roll to experience. It was all a blur after that as my taste-buds were on a trip. The burger was awesome, the blackened white fish sandwich was so bomb, and I had no room left but I'm craving that banana cream pie. So lets go back! We had a reservation for a party of 12 for 9PM on a Saturday night and the table was ready just as we got there. The waiters there were nice and efficient. They explained to us the special dishes of the night and were sure to always refill our glasses. The uncorking policy there is very generous, with the first two bottle being free and the ones after for $15 each. I got the jumbo diver scallops and they were jumbo. From other yelper's pictures, I was expecting 3 scallops, but luckily got four. They were delicious and cooked perfectly. I'm not a fan of risotto usually, but the one that came with this was okay... a little on the sweeter side. Overall, it was a nice atmosphere right by the water. I feel like this place would be definitely nicer if we went a little earlier for the sunset or in the summer when it's warmer. Good food, okay price, great environment for a big party. read more

We sent my daughter, who was visiting from Florida, her boyfriend, his 3 boys, my daughter's best friend(who happens to be a emergency room pediatrician from NYC), her 2 daughters and her husband to Cowfish for dinner Monday night. (The day after Easter Sunday) I couldn't think of another local restaurant that would seat them outside with heaters. They stayed there for more than 2 hours and thoroughly enjoyed their dinner, drinks and the amazing accommodating staff. Was it pricey? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely! Thank you, Cowfish! This summer we decided to revisit the Southhampton. However, we didn't like it as much compared to the last time we were there. So, we decided to move away from it and check some of the restaurants near the Hampton Bay Area. Cowfish restaurant came up on top of the list. We called to ask about a table for two. Since it was late afternoon and early evening, the person who took the call said not a problem. After a few mins we arrived at the destination (sounds like Waze!). The parking area is big, valet parking too! While entering the restaurant, it felt like entering a nice garden with a beautiful home overlooking the water and the boats all around it. In short it means a beautiful place! We got a table by the window right away, nice! We ordered the Brussels sprouts for appetizer but this one was a bit salty. We also ordered Swordfish entree for me and and Cowfish burger for Hubby. We had a nice waitress, Allegra. She handled our needs really well. Of the two entrees, we thought that my swordfish was madd perfectly in terms of the taste and presentation. It came with corn, white beans and couscous, healthy as it can be! The burger was all right, maybe between average and above average but not more than that. The fries was kind of homemade style, not average fries. It had salt and pepper taste to it. I took a bite! Get the swordfish if you like fish! After our late lunch we took a walk outside by the water to enjoy the scenery and the boats. We miss the boat, especially during the summer. I try to make a trip here every summer. The food is consistently good, and the view is great. This summer I went after Labor Day, and (why I am giving 4 stars) the outdoor bar was closed, which usually has great vibes, and they stop serving sushi after Labor Day??? They didn't have their sushi when I went last summer either, due to COVID, so that was unfortunate because it's really good! We had to wait an hour without a reservation, which was to be expected. I ordered the tuna, and it was cooked perfectly. The fried rice it came with was just okay, but overall the dish and meal was really good. For the prices they charge I was expecting to be "wowed" but unfortunately after spending $220 (for 2 kids, 2 adults, NO alcohol) we were left underwhelmed and unimpressed. Appetizers- we were wanting calamari, but to our surprise, they didn't even have it as an option, so we got the buffalo shrimp and crab cakes. The buffalo shrimp should have been called BBQ shrimp, because it had no buffalo taste, it was really just BBQ sauce. The crab cakes were ok. Dinner- I got the lobster roll. It was ok. I just had The lobster roll from Gosmans in Montauk the week before and it was sooo much better there. Fries were good. My husband got fish special dinner, I forgot what it was, but he was just ok with it too. I included a picture of it. My girls ordered of kids menu, shrimp and burger. They were sad looking. Lol We got 2 desserts. Banana cream pie and cookie sundae thing. They were ok as well. Coffee had way too many bits coffee grounds on the bottom We just weren't impressed by anything. Clam chowder could have been hotter, an egg benedict dish with pulled pork over cornbread was ok , it was ordered because the delivery of fluke I was planning on getting had not yet been delivered. Other people in my party each had the burgers and they were good as were the hand cut fries. I think food may be waiting in the kitchen under the lights for more time that it should and because of this I think quality suffers a bit. Coffee was good and the banana cream pie was very rich. I was out here a few extra days beyond Labor Day this summer and I had the chance to have lunch at Cowfish. Friends always said it was a great place, and now I know why. I sat in the upstairs bar and the first thing I noticed was the view, just an absolutely beautiful setting. It was early so it wasn't very busy, but it was exciting, nonetheless. After a few minutes of taking in the view, I turned my attention to the bar. The bartender was as stunning as the view. She turned to me and said, "I'll be with you in a minute sweetie". I immediately felt how warm and genuine she was. She came to our table and explained all the features that day. As she rolled down the list, I could tell she has been doing this for quite some time. She had Just the right balance of warmth and professionalism. While the featured Salmon sounded amazing, I decided on the scallops. I've had them at their sister restaurant Flora, and they were just as amazing here. Needless to say, I was thrilled that my last day here this summer ended on such a high note. *East End Restaurant Week Price Fixe Menu Review- Delicious Food, Beautiful Location, Mediocre Service Cowfish is a place I've been wanting to come and try for quite some time now. I thought what a great opportunity to come during the Restaurant Week Menu and try a variety of dishes. They Offer a FREE boat ride from Cowfish to Rumba during the summer which is intriguing for me and would love to visit in a few months. In the summer they also have an outdoor bar & live music playing. Located on a beautiful part of the canal. The views were drop dead gorgeous. Easy to find as it's right on Montauk Hwy but might not be as easy to drive to. This area gets extremely crowded during the warmer months so keep in mind the traffic may be heavy at times. There wasn't any Valet while I was here (in April) but I'm assuming they do offer valet during the summer? The lot was all gravel so be careful walking in those heels. Don't get Cowfish confused with the Fish Store you'll see right as you pull in. Keep driving and follow signs to Cowfish which is located in the far back of the property. The Prices are great, especially for being located on the East End. Make your Reservations right on Yelp. Check In for a Discount! The vibe was smart casual- Some people were dressed up and some weren't but it was all very laid back which I enjoyed. The Restaurant itself had so much natural sunlight coming in and I even got to watch the sunset without leaving my seat. The restaurant was very clean and well decorated. The Service was mediocre at best which unfortunately made my overall experience bump down 1 star. Ticket times were long in the beginning and after I felt rushed throughout my meal. I don't like when the servers attempt to take away my plate while there's still food on it because they assume I'm finished. I also had to ask multiple times for drink refills which got aggravating. I felt that the Restaurant needed more servers. The Food was delicious and I will be reviewing what I tried: Unfortunately there were no bread baskets offered, no chips, NOTHING complimentary which was a huge blow. I typically like to sit and snack on some bread while I wait for my meal to come out but not here...especially if I'm spending $$$ like I did. -Corn Bread App (Not included in Restaurant Week): Definitely an acquired taste but it had my name all over it! The Crab was in fact crab and not imitation which was a relief to see. The Hollandaise Sauce mixed well with not only the meat but also with the Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Seasoned Asparagus. 5 out of 5 stars -Banana Cream Pie (Price Fixe Portion which looked like half of what is regularly served): Very Decadent with a fruity flavor. I absolutely loved this dessert and thought it was the perfect portion without being overwhelming. This time 5 of us went by boat on Father's Day and fingers crossed. Many preferred tables went to reservations (totally understandable) which we did not have.. We actually arrived just before the 1130 am opening and stood in a short line. They graciously seated us inside by a window and the feeding frenzy began. Full bar to choose libations with our appetizers of brussel sprouts and deviled eggs. The lunch and brunch menu were available so we dined on burgers (with eggs on top), rueben, blackened fish sandwich and ceasar with chicken. Everything was hot, delicious and plentiful. We ordered apps for the table pork belly moist & delish, hot spinach dip with tortilla crackers & burrata atop sweet juicy tomatoes..yummy. Dinner was a tender delicious strip steak, salmon with asparagus & from the special menu a perfectly grilled veal chop with the required grill marks..mouthwatering delight. Some had hamburgers & my granddaughter loved her grilled cheese. Needless to say the place was bustling & I have to say the staff was tops each pitching in where needed. Dessert was a most delicious banana cream pie with a nut crust that had a layer of chocolate over the bottom crust what a treat..I could go on & on. Other than the food being great, everything else was abysmal. We dined here last night for my future sister in laws bachelorette party. There was 11 of us. My chief complaints: 1) My vegan cousin specifically told the waiter she was vegan and asked how they could accommodate her so she ordered accordingly. Her vegetable plate came with BACON AND CHEESE!!! She couldn't eat it. 2) Half the table ordered an entree because they came with Brussels sprouts. When the entrees came, no one had Brussels spouts, there was corn. Our waiter said "oops, sorry" and by the time the BS came, dinner was almost over. 3) My entree was supposed to come with corn and it didn't. One of the other ladies entree DID come with corn (she was supposed to get Brussels sprouts) . When I said something to our waiter, he had the other girl scrape the corn off her plate 'bc he didn't want to be wasteful', (his own words) and hand it to me!!!!!! 4) There was 2 waiters helping us and they collectively screwed everything up because they didn't communicate with each other. Had reservations at 1pm on a rainy Saturday and were promptly seated. The food was excellent and wait staff was friendly. We started with the lobster stuffed mushrooms which were good and then had the jumbo scallops and risotto dish and also the Mahi blackened fish sandwich. Everything tasted very fresh and was cooked to perfection. We would definitely order everything again! We finished things off with the Oreo ice cream and it was good but not "to die for", like it looked like when we saw somebody else had ordered it. Though I rated this place 4-stars, it almost lost a star for the disgusting bathrooms and poor parking lot area. In the bathrooms, I think they went for the ol' lobster shanty look and it just is disgusting: old wooden doors and barely enough room between the toilet and the door. Maybe I'm just picky, but if I'm paying for a high-end experience, I expect the bathrooms to match. The parking situation is not ideal either. They make you use their valet parking and when I picked up my car, I felt like there was no care taken to avoid the ruts in the gravel/dirt parking lot. I know I'm not the only one there with a fancy car and do NOT appreciate my car being driven like an ATV. Also, it was raining and there was another group waiting for their cars that were already huddled under the little tent, so we had to wait out in the rain: I suggest a more permanent structure or a larger tent. Seemed kind of low quality. All in all, I would visit again, but now I know what to expect. I may park my car far and just walk, and I'll be sure to go on a nice sunny day so I can take advantage of the outdoor space too. read more

They have plenty of inside seating but it was a beautiful day so we sat upstairs outside . View from the table was even better. Full bar upstairs also. Our food was good we tried the cheeseburger , Rueben and a Cesar salad. Our waiter was very funny , kind and checked in with us just enough and didn't make us feel rushed at all. My friend had the rum punch and we were disappointed we didn't get that instead of wine! It was very good. Would love to try another time for dinner.
