Then GF now wife spent our Saturday at the Stockyards ahead of our Monday nuptials. Why not see someone other than me and my olden body get bucked off some bulls and horses. Considered some VIP treatment above the gates but settled in ringside for hundreds less. Snuck out for a few drinks and a couple of smokes. Expect about a 2 hour experience for the matinee. Enjoyed the show; most important she had a great time. Like another Yelper I wasn't thrilled with the DJ. I mean, I get music. Lived it like no other. Entire house including the patio is set up for listening. I live on a working cattle ranch in Central Texas. I also get that there could be an international audience here. Go with the hits I suppose Yet, as a Texan NOBODY should ever play Neil Diamond at a Rodeo. Other Yelp peep mentioned Skid Row and arena gags. Gags are some comic relief. For our visit the some of the music was annoying but didn't overrun the master of ceremonies. I'd still go again next trip. read more

Such an amazing night to the coliseum for the rodeo! Overall it was a blast from the vibe, great view, well kept arena, and the Saturday night excitement. We bought out tickets Friday night online and I'm glad we did. If I lived here I'd probably come as much as I could because I live for the events and watching these athletes fulfill their passion! We been on a tour here and also attended one of the rodeo events held weekly during part of the year. The venue is very kitschy and cool and a very comfortable place to view events. The seating is very good and we enjoyed watching the ride so. They are friendly and also have plenty of good eats and drinks to choose from! The cost of the events are also reasonable IMO. read more

Great experience and my daughter's first rodeo. Awesome staff and very helpful finding seats. Lots of action with a great announcer and a variety of music. We sat in the B section and the seats were great for seeing the action behind the chutes and as the bullriders came out. The pretzels were good but skip the bbq sandwiches. Lots of drink options inside and out of the coliseum. Nice area to also walk around before or after the events. read more

Husband and I always take our out-of-towners here for a real Texas experience. We've been here about 5 times now and each time we were sitting in different locations, including the VIP area with their own bar and restrooms. If you want to really enjoy the action, I would suggest sitting at one of the regular seats. Try to get a spot in the middle of the arena. Also, maybe not too close to the front because I saw someone get hit with some dirt one of the times we went. If you want to relax and have a nice restroom to go to and your own bar, I would definitely recommend the VIP area overlooking the bucking chutes. You also get a photo op if you do the all-inclusive. The all-inclusive includes drinks! On our last visit with the VIP pass, we were lost on where to go to enter because we heard conflicting things from different people, which had us walking around outside and inside. At least we got our steps in. Everyone we encountered were super nice and helpful to try to get us to the premium section. 100% would come here again if we have visitors from out of town. read more

The rodeo should be wonderful here but it is ruined by the DJ desperately playing 80s hooks for two hours and drowning out the announcers. People genuinely want to watch and learn about the sport, the riders, the family, and the rules, however it's impossible because the announcers are completely drown out by the cheese-ball music and arena gags. It's disrespectful to the announcers and to the crowd who walks away not learning anything because Skid Row, and "Josie's on a vacation far away" are way louder than the hard working announcer. I suggest the Texas State Fair rodeo, less dumb antics and a more relaxed focus on the sport. You'll learn more, you can hear what's going on and understand, and actually be WAY more engaged. Rodeo by nature is engaging. I won't come back here and won't recommend it because all the schticks and musical anthem schizophrenia are the focus and take a backseat to the sport. Sad. read more

I visited Fort Worth on a Thursday, and while walking around, I noticed Cowtown Coliseum was having Professional Bull Riding that night. I was able to go to the ticket booth out front and purchase 2 tickets for the front box seats. This cost about $140 for the day of, but it is a little cheaper if you were to purchase online before the day of the event. The lady who assisted us at the window was so helpful. We arrived back later for the show. There were local colleges in the front passing out merch and free ice cream. We were taken to our seats by staff, and this was such a smooth process. The seats were great, and I liked that we were close to the side where the bulls came running out. The show was great. The Coliseum was large and grand. The videoing of the show made it easy to see. I recommend it when in Fort Worth to make this a stop on your trip. read more

This was my first rodeo, and I was thrilled, amazed, and moved by the show that Cowtown Coliseum put on. We were there on a Friday night, and there was so much to see: bull riding, barrel racing, roping, and bronco riding. The show opened with a thirteen-year-old girl who sang an awe-inspiring rendition of the Star Spangled Banner and also sang Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (RIP, Toby Keith -- you are much loved and missed). I was moved by the fact that the introduction to the rodeo included prayer for a safe and joyful event. These horses are animals of valor and strength. They stole the show. Without them, there would be NO show. Their speed, their agility, their willingness to work so closely with their riders -- I was riveted to their beauty. Patriotic, skilled, talented. These people, both men and women, are in a class of their own, with bravery and abilities that deserve the highest caliber of respect. The rodeo clowns kept riders safe -- what a job! I was on the edge of my seat watching them. The adorable 9-year-old boy whose job it was to get the crowd going did just that. What a great kid. The Cowtown Coliseum embodies everything I love about Texas and country: strength, skill, American pride, faith, teamwork, bravery, and a can-do attitude. The history this coliseum holds!! The number of legends that have come out of this place, where rodeo experiences began, and PBR was created. I just love the history of it all. Now, do be warned, the strong smell of livestock will impact you as soon as you walk in! But everything is organized and well kept. A trip to Fort Worth isn't complete without checking out an event at the Cowtown Coliseum. While the building is an older design/set up, its rustic vibe is perfect for the gateway to the west and picturing cowboys around every bend. We went to a rodeo this visit. The venue is on the smaller side of other rodeo arenas we've checked out in DFW. You definitely feel like you are a part of the action, but there appeared to be fewer rodeo participants and events (which may not be bad if you are mindful of how much time you want to spend). We ate dinner at a nearby restaurant so we were partaking only in their beverage concessions. The servers did a great job of keeping the lines moving and the canned items were cold...the perfect thing for a warm Texas night! read more

This was in fact my First Rodeo. Now I am not from a place that does Rodeos, this was a whole different amount of culture and atmosphere then I expected. This is truly some peoples life! And I get it, the showman ship and atmosphere was in fact entertaining. The show started with LOUD indoor pyrotechnics of some sort, startling but the horses were not bothered so neither should I be. There was a LONG US propaganda-esque and religious themed intro, which in Texas I understand but it was very jarring and abnormal to me. That said, the woman who rode the galloping horse around the arena for the entirety of the national anthem with a large flag in one hand, congrats. The core and arm strength of her is commendable. After that, the show was amazing. The athletes and animals created a great watching experience that had me fully enthralled. I know the big show is the bull riding, but to me the bucking Broncos was where it is really at. I was up in the Cowboy Corner section, I say its worth it to spend a bit more for nicer seats higher up that allow a good view and more spacious seating. As well as your own Bar. We also got a good view of the cowgirls and boys prepping the animals and themselves for each round. I enjoyed this as I am the type to want to know all the details and set up stuff that bored many others. Snacks were ok, basic stadium food. There was a taco section I didn't get to but that looked a step above the rest of the concessions for sure. Staff was very kind and efficient at the concessions as well as helping to navigate around the coliseum. I cannot applaud all the athletes and performers more, from the support rescue staff that get the riders off and away from the animal safely, as well as guide the animal back safely. To the barrel racers, calf wranglers, All the way to the Rodeo clowns, why someone sees an angry bull and thinks, hey I wanna run upto that and touch its face for funsies, is beyond me. But its amazing to see. Plus the lasso act, I mean wow, I still don't believe my eyes, his skill was magical to say the least. They also had an intermission that had kids games to get the young audience involved directly which was very sweet. Bathrooms are spread enough to allow everyone use even in these busy times. Well worth the experience, I will seek out another show next time Im neat a rodeo, especially if I am at the Cowtown Coliseum again. read more

You shouldn't go to TX without catching a rodeo! All the seats are pretty good, some of the higher up sections have poles that kind of block your view, so be careful when you pick your seats. We saw a variety of roping and barrel racing performances. There are snacks and beverages available to purchase. It's a bit cold in here, even in Sept., so you might want to wear long sleeves or bring a sweater. We had a great evening here. read more

Great experi nice for my first rodeo! Came on a Saturday night and great tickets and good pricing. Super close to the entrance where the cowboys and cowgirls come in and love every minute. They had bull riding, bronco riding, roping, and even some stuff to get the kids involved. A very entertaining and wholesome night for all ages! They also have alcohol and snacks for purchase as well as a pretty cool gift shop. We are in Ft Worth for the day and night doing touristy stuff. I booked tickets a few days ahead of time online. I was in section F, row 2. Although these are good seats for calf roping and team roping, they were a little far away from bull riding. The arena was built in 1908 and is historic and shows its age. The rodeo itself was full of new talent or amateurs. Such as only 2 men could ride the bull 8 seconds, missed roping of the calves, barrell racers knocking down barrels, etc. I was actually cheering when the calfs run off without getting roped. They have "God bless the USA" song, a prayer, and star spangled banner at the beginning. There were 2 events where kids chase a calf and sheep to remove a scarf. Cowboys in Affliction shirts, you get the drift. Bathroom line was super long so I skipped. They only take credit cards at concessions, no cash. Water was $5 a bottle. I'm from out of state, so probably won't be back. It was fun regardless. Review 5 in 2025. read more

This was my first rodeo so I had no idea what to expect but it was a lot of fun! They had bull riding, which was probably the "main event" as well as roping and bronco riding. They have limited food options - hotdogs, popcorn - basically things you'd find at a baseball game. I wish we had eaten before we went because the lines were long and the food is pricey. Arrive early if you're driving because parking is tricky! They have several lots in the area but we tried 3-4 before we found one with openings. Granted, we are in town for the eclipse so I'm sure this weekend was extra busy. I'm glad I experienced a Texas rodeo - definitely something that was on my bucket list and Fort Worth is the place to do it! read more

Buy rodeo tickets ahead of time online if you can, because it might be more expensive and also more limited in seat choices in person. I was personally a little worried that the rodeo would be a little too aggressive for me. I've heard they really love and care for their animals, but I've also read one or two things on Reddit about animal lovers being concerned with the animals who felt like they were in distress. It was manageable. I still wouldn't recommend it to those who strongly do not want to see animals in that position. I ended up finding the rodeo very exciting. Watching people compete. Visited Cowtown Coliseum on a Saturday to attend the Bill Pickett rodeo. I'd never been to the venue or this type of event so it was all new to me. This venue is near the Stockyards and to say it was crowded is an understatement, so be prepared to spend a lot of time inching through the area looking for parking--we had to overshoot the venue to find a paid lot. We had kids in tow, along with a stroller and this isn't the most accessible place for that. However they did have an area where we could drop it off and pick up again before we left. The venue was cool, didn't seem like there was a bad seat as everyone seemed to have a clear view of the arena. We did try out the concessions which were disappointing, especially the soft pretzel (the kids literally spit it out, and I tasted it and did the same). I'd bring my own snacks before buying from here again. Overall, cool venue and the rodeo was fun but give time for parking and navigating the area an skip the concessions. read more

Wow this place is a lot of fun! If your ever in the area on a Friday or Saturday evening make sure you buy your tickets to the rodeo and get there so you can pick a good seat don't pay extra to sit in the box seats there's no reason to pay extra your just waiting money. You can send me the money you want to waste? Sit in the middle to the front where the pins are that the cowboys come out of on the bull. It's an EXCELLENT evening of bull riding and many other events. And if you don't enjoy yourself go up to one of the Cowboys after the show and explain to them why your upset and ask for your money back. If your an animal activist stay away, people don't want to hear your crying the poor animals. These animals are better cared for than most people. This is how people live and make there living. NO animals are injured and if the cowboys do do an illegal take down they are disqualified. And the kids chasing a sheep around to get a piece of tape OMG the children are having fun the sheep is not hurt. read more
