My cousin brought my boo and I here after we did some touristy Fort Worth stuff (the historic stockyard, shopping- buying a book tie & cowboy hat, for example). I got a margarita or two, my cousin got a couple micheladas, and my boo got a margarita & a Bloody Mary. All were good, and we loved the ambiance in the place- all the convoy hats on the ceiling. However, take some time and check out the elephants! They are everywhere, and each one has a story! Just like the hats on the ceiling! This is a great spot if you're looking for a true blue country bar - they have a stage where they host local talent, and the music always feels perfectly on point. We ventured out here during the snow last weekend, and it was perfect: a handful of people at the bar, an awesome duo singing country hits, a pool table in the corner, and a very chill crowd. Service was perfect, and my only regret is not checking if they served food! Located in the heart of the Stockyards, White Elephant Saloon almost feels like a rite of passage for nightlife seekers in this part of Fort Worth. It's got a classic Texas feel to it, complete with extensive cowboy hat decor, reminiscent of a dive bar but carry that nostalgic Stockyards theme so well. Come with good company and make it a fun evening. It doesn't look that big, but trust that the place is deceivingly spacious. My group and I had zero problems finding seating for the dozen of us and I appreciate that it was fairly well ventilated and not too crowded on a weekend night. The place definitely smelled old, which was surprisingly not an issue in the bathrooms (#2) and I loved the elephant decor pieces that were practically glowing from their display case. Bartenders are a tad slow, mainly because there isn't enough staff to handle the crowds at the bar. (#3) With enough patience the bartenders found me but I could see this being an issue if the place was more crowded. Drink prices are surprisingly affordable for an area so touristy, but I think that's part of the charm. There is also billiards and shuffleboard for anyone looking to play games and countless articles on display about the history of this place. Discriminatory establishment. If you want respect and dignity, go somewhere else. On August 15th at about 7pm i went to the White Elephant Saloon at the Fort Worth Stockyards. I paid the $10 cover for myself and my friend ($20 total) and asked DoorMan if the wristbands would still be good after the rodeo, happening across the street at the coliseum. DoorMan said yes. I came back after the rodeo at about 10pm and showed my wristband to DoorMan, who was now accompanied by DoorCop. No issues, so I had a round and stepped out to vape. When I tried coming back in, Doorman said they reviewed the cameras and that I never paid the cover, accused me of LYING and COUNTERFEITING this flimsy blue paper wristband (see pic) to gain entry. For a ten dollar cover!? That is INSANE! I was the only middle eastern person in the building so this level of discrimination and treatment must be scrutinized. The bartender fortunately remembered me from earlier and told DoorMan that I was in at 7pm (thanks bartender!). Despite being confronted with his dishonesty and bigotry, DoorMan did not offer any apology when I was leaving noted that he was wrong for lying about reviewing camera footage. If you want to be treated with respect and dignity, go somewhere else. Crazy that I survived Fredericksburg and Bastrop without any incidents of overt discrimination, but on my last night in Texas, the DoorMan at White Elephant Saloon decided to change that. read more

The blonde bartender was not the friendliest. She ignored my friend and I at first. Helped the customers on each side of us. Then she only spoke to my friend completely ignoring me. She got my friend her vodka soda lime and water and my friend was like did you want something? I was like mmmm nah not anymore, just water. Bad vibes from the bartender. My friend asked her if I could get a water and the bartender looked at me as if I was a pest or something and got a water for me but didnt say anything. I was like thats a little rude she didnt intially ask if I wanted anything when she took my friends order. I loved this little bar when I was in Fort Worth. The sweet Texas tea was just right, the live music was amazing, and the crowd so friendly. I went there a couple times and each time met some wonderful people from all over the US. The service from bartenders was great. I came with my two sisters and one of my sisters boyfriends Saturday September 20th between 12:30 and 1:30 I tried ordering drinks and this one lady and this guy were very rude and assuming my sister was "drunk" when she wasn't, they tried to cut me off and limit me to one when I was getting a drink for my other sister and not the sister they were assuming was "drunk" and I found it very disrespectful after she clearly wasn't drunk. They were very unprofessional about it the whole time and especially felt disrespected. Mind you my sister they were assuming was drunk was drinking a ginger ale and water the whole time while I was the one drinking. I will not be returning to this establishment and I hope they learn to be more respectful and professional. read more

If you go to the Stockyards you have to at least stop by the White Elephant Saloon, even for one quick drink and gander. It's iconic Fort Worth; a laid back saloon with a busy history, cowboy hats lining the walls and ceiling, live music, a small dance floor, cheap drinks, and a chili parlor. No other food y'all, just chili. That's the Fort Worth way. The White Elephant is the site of the last gunfight in Fort Worth's wild west history! It's also the bar Chuck Norris hangs out at in Walker, Texas Ranger... haha. For decades guests have brought white elephant figurines into the saloon as an offering, which fill up shelves upon shelves against the west walls. They're strange and fun (the Fort Worth way). You'll find live music most evenings and a few folks will be two-stepping. Get a drink in a to-go cup for keeps and so you can walk around the Stockyards with a cocktail in-hand. It's way more fun that way. Expect leisurely but friendly service at the White Elephant, and an overall festive atmosphere. read more

The bartender was beyond rude. We walked in, paid a $10 cover charge each, and left before we even finished our first drink because the bartender verbally accosted our friends. Our entire group of about 16 people left because of it. On the way out, my sister and I stopped between the bar and the door to finish our drink and the bartender told us to finish our drinks outside and leave. Totally unnecessary. Maybe because we're not locals? It's one thing to not like out of towners but it's another thing to treat customers like garbage because you don't like the way they look. The White Elephant Saloon. Classic Fort Worth. Although this saloon has had three locations over it's long and tenured history (the original saloon opened in 1884 and was a few blocks south), but changed ownership quickly until Bill and John Ward took it over in 1885. It finally found it's place on Exchange Street in 1976 and has been a staple there ever since. The original saloon was touted as one of the wildest of the Texas "wild west" saloons. Frequented by Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson. It was one of the many establishments that was on the gambling circuit. Gambling often led to shoot outs and the most famous of The White Elephant's was between the professional gambler Luke Short and Timothy Courtright. "Little Luke" Short was part owner in the Saloon and Courtright a disgruntled gambler and former city marshall, who called Short out. They both stepped into the street on February 8th, 1887... Short coming out on top and by the 9th it was declared self-defense. They reenact the shoot out every February 8th... so mark your calendars. The White Elephant also had other claims to fame, but in our modern times, it became the local hang-out of Walker, Texas Ranger... being featured as CD's bar, it can be seen at the end of many episodes of the now infamous show of the same name. We stopped in for a few drinks and a couple games of pool... and the atmosphere was laid-back. The bartenders were personable and competent, making a tasty Rye Old Fashioned or three and the patrons friendly as well. I can only imagine what a Friday or Saturday night is like, and would probably have been my kind of place (20 years ago). I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of mid-day though... plenty if room to move about and easy to carry on conversations. I highly recommend this saloon as a place to stop and quench your thirst... I will be back to check out a loud and wild Friday night, eventually and I may even stop in on February 8th, and do the touristy thing and watch the shoot out. The White Elephant Saloon is a must for anyone visiting the Stockyards in Fort Worth, and there are plenty of good places to eat all over. Cattleman's is down and around the corner (ask for the calf fry pizza I'm told) and H3 is serving up some amazing steaks on the corner of Main and Exchange. 5 stars was given because of the history and cleanliness... as well as the solid drinks and friendly employees. This is a classic Ft. Worth Stockyards bar. I love it. It's nothing fancy, but it's got a lot of heritage. My friend and I stopped in for lunch and a beer on a Monday afternoon. Live C&W music, a variety of seating choices, and a decently stocked bar (although it wouldn't hurt to add ONE citrus-soda (Sprite, 7-Up, Red Bull, Mountain Dew, Splash - whatever). Good drink specials and a fun crowd. The ladies loved the Banana Pudding (flavored) Shots, and we made new friends before we left. That doesn't happen in every crowded bar! The worst I walked in after a conference with 60-70 people and a very short Hispanic man kicked me out in about 5 mins of bringing the crowd there. Three women in our party stopped at what I took as the front desk. As I spoke to them this very short Hispanic bar tender came up to me and told me I had to move. As I moved he stated no "leave the bar" stating I violated the area I was not supposed to be in. As an AF officer I stated I'm so sorry if I violated any rules. He stated I could leave the bar or he'd call the cops. I asked if he was serious he said he was and cops were on the way. I asked the next bar tender. " I think there is a mistake I'm not trying to cause any trouble" they responded that he was the guy and indicated I had no other option. So I left and called an Uber. Super disappointed and definitely don't recommend to any service members or regular guys trying to enjoy and have a drink with friends. read more

While in Texas for the first time, we walked into this bar named "White Elephant" and we were so impressed with the atmosphere we had to go back at night and see what it was all about. When we got there and walked in... can you just say O MY :) LOL.... Kenny and Donovan took such good care of us and they are the sweetest too! The music and the dancing was awesome we went back every night during our stay. We met a lot of amazing people, some just to chat with and others to actually hang out with on the town and become new friends, who I hope to see in CA real soon.
