    On Friday, February 23, 2024 I purchased a 2024 Mazda CX-50 from Cox Mazda in Bradenton. I was immediately impressed by the sales rep, Carolyn Watkins. She was knowledgeable, patient, enthusiastic and actually listened to what I was looking for in potentially purchasing a new vehicle. Carolyn accomplished this without having the typical overbearing characteristics we, as consumers, have become accustomed to from Sales reps when purchasing a vehicle. Her handling of the transaction was a pleasant experience. However, I cannot say the same for the finance experience. While the Finance rep was not rude or overbearing, it was clear he was less enthusiastic of completing the finance transaction perhaps since I made it clear I did not want any of the "additional" coverages being offered. To add insult to injury, while we were in the process of obtaining Fianace for the new SUV, we then had to wait for their Finance person to go into and finish up with a staff a meeting (which I'm comfortable to say he was aware we were waiting to complete the finance transaction prior to going into the meeting). I'm guessing at Cox Mazda there is not an urgency to attend to their customer's as a priority over attending a staff meeting especially when there weren't many customers in the dealership. After purchasing the vehicle, I decided I'd like to purchase an upgraded rearview mirror for the CX-50 to include the built in remote for the garage door and auto dimming. The purchase for mirror was approximately $320 which was a little on the expensive side but a convenience option I wanted to have in the vehicle. Initially, it was thought the process would be relatively simple and I made an appointment to drop off the CX-50 the next morning (Saturday) at the service center to have it installed. I was issued a loaner while the SUV was being worked on. Later that morning I was advised the work could not be completed due to a need for a harness (for the electrical) and was given the option to either leave the SUV at the dealership where the technician can continue working on it Monday and also keep the loaner car till then. Or, I could pick up my new SUV and schedule a date for them to complete the installation. I opted to leave my SUV at the dealership so the work could be completed on Monday. on Monday, I received a message advising me the installation of the rearview mirror was completed and I could come pick up my SUV. When I arrived to pick up my SUV, I was presented with an invoice that completely caught me off guard with the total cost for installing the rearview mirror. The installation cost was $386.22..... So now I'm a bit upset that I just paid an additional $707.00 to have a rearview mirror installed in my new SUV. I paid the bill, voiced my disappointment in the outrageous amount I was charged and had I known it was going to be such a ridiculous amount, I would've opted not to have it installed, but that fell on deaf ears. When I arrived at my home, I looked at the invoice and saw the following written on the actual invoice "Estimate ---- Customer Hereby Acknowledges Receiving Original Estimate of $399.00 (+Tax)"... This infuriated me even more so because 1) it was a total false statement and 2) if I had been advised of the ridiculous estimate/price, I would not have move forward with the installation. My advice to anyone purchasing a vehicle from Cox Mazda, be sure to read everything they ask you to sign and make sure you get EVERYTHING in writing (especially any type of estimate). Good luck if you decide to go ahead and purchase your vehicle from this dealership.

There was no documentation, no visual inspection shown, and no real breakdown to justify the added work--just a verbal claim that it was required. On top of that, the final charge ended up being more than 3x what the same OEM part is listed for at Ford, which raises serious concerns about how the pricing was marked up and presented. The issues didn't stop there. This happened on a Friday. I was told my car would be ready before 4:00 PM, but around 4:30 PM I only received a last-minute text update. I arrived at approximately 5:09 PM, and the shop was already closed. There was no one available, no way to speak to anyone, and no reliable way to get updates or access my vehicle. Because of the timing and the fact that it was already Friday evening, my car would have been stuck there all weekend until Monday, which directly affected my work schedule. I had to go out of my way to find and contact the owner myself just to avoid being left without my vehicle for multiple days. While I did get my car back, the overall experience felt inconsistent, poorly communicated, and not handled in a transparent or professional way

The initial purchase and offerings as explained at that time appeared to be inconsistent with our understanding of services actually offered by Gettel. Specifically, this involved a maintenance and touch up body work policy we purchased at the time of sale. The policy ends at 100,000 miles, or seven years. We have 40,000 mile on the vehicle. We recently sought a meeting for clarification with the General Manager, Rocky Santa Cruz. Mr. Santa Cruz eventually introduced us to EriK Grenesko, the Collision Center Manager. Both Mr. Santa Cruz and Mr. Grenesko were patient listeners, they politely offered clarification where it was needed and they offered sound solutions regarding the Gettel maintenance policy and the incidental touch up for body work. They took the car on a Monday and returned it five days later. We received a vehicle that was immaculately detailed from the pin stripes to the incidental marks that were completely removed. The work was show room quality. The interior was cleaned as well and was certainly outside the scope of the agreement. My wife and I have many years of managerial service in the Services industry. From our experience we want to extend our appreciation for Rocky and Erik's time and their outstanding ability to represent the customers interests and the interests of Gettel in terms of customer satisfaction. You both are a credit to the Gettel organization and the Toyota brand.

I was literally told they were too busy for this and that I couldn't get it because they changed computer systems and had no records previous to the change. I hung up and called Gettel Toyota. The girl on the phone treated me like a person, not a number and gave me the information I needed to get to the people who could help me. I drove over there and spoke with David in the service department who was absolutely amazing! He was knowledgeable, personable, and helped me obtain as much of the record as he had access to, and told me where to go to get the rest. I would work with him any day of the week! Then I went to see Hector (who turned out to be the sales manager). I explained the situation to him and he immediately printed out all of the information that I needed. He was friendly and very knowledgeable. Turns out he's been here 19 years! I made sure to tell the manager of this facility that he was blessed to have such people working for him. Every single person that I came in contact with who works here, treated me like a human being with needs, rather than a money-making opportunity (which is what I felt I was to the other company). I highly recommend this business! When you walk in the door, the whole atmosphere is different. It's calm, peaceful, and inviting. I will be bringing my business here from now on. Thank you all for making what was an extremely stressful day become a peaceful one!

I reached out to the service department to see if there was anything they could do, and they directed me to David Brown in the used car department. Unfortunately, because the vehicle was purchased as-is, the responsibility fell on me. That was a tough pill to swallow. Not ready to give up, I contacted the GM, Erika, and she immediately stepped in with a plan that worked for everyone involved. What started as a stressful and disappointing experience turned around completely because I chose to communicate instead of getting upset. By the time everything was resolved, I wasn't just a customer anymore, I felt like part of the Nissan of Bradenton family, and they made sure I knew it. I went from worried and overwhelmed to genuinely happy with how things were handled. I'm one very satisfied customer.
