They sold me a truck with engine damage because they used the wrong oil. I bought a 2024 Ram 2500 with the diesel engine and they installed 15W40 oil. There is a technical service bulletin from Ram that says you cannot use 15W40 oil because it would cause engine damage. Cox Chevrolet refuses to undo the deal they change the oil with the correct oil and are acting like everything is fine now. After speaking with the local Ram dealership they said that the wrong oil would cause it to void the powertrain warranty and cause engine damage and potentially engine failure. They do not want to help me address the situation other than the oil change that they already did. read more

Had an appointment to drop my car off at 8:45 AM this past Monday. They finally called me Tuesday afternoon to tell me what was wrong with the vehicle that needed to be fixed. I don't understand why I had an appointment for Monday morning if they were not even gonna be able to look at the vehicle until Tuesday? They said it might be Wednesday or even Thursday before I get it back, I told him I needed my vehicle back no later than end of business Wednesday because I have no transportation. Service manager Richard called me at 5:15 PM Tuesday night and said I have 15 minutes to pick up the car because they're closing. Reminded him I have no transportation because they refuse to give me a loaner even though items were covered on a warranty. I also reminded him that I live at least 30 minutes away and there was no way I can make it in 15 minutes to pick up my car. Reminded him I needed the courtesy van to come and pick me up. He assured me he would arrange for the courtesy van to pick me up first thing Wednesday morning. it's now noon have not heard from anybody at the dealership. I have called five times starting at 9:40 AM. I've left four messages. The service advisor Richard apparently is off on Wednesdays. Called his back up. Jeff has not called me back, even called the manager Eric and he has not called me back. Finally got through to a live person that was able to set up the courtesy van to come and pick me up so I can get my vehicle out. She said Richard never submitted that request. I would not recommend the dealership whatsoever. Worst customer service experience ever. read more

Took my new Blazer EV (5700 miles) in for service on Friday along with a non functioning Navigation system. After several hours I was told that there was a defective part in the navigation system and the part was on INDEFINITE BACKORDER and they didn't know if or when they would have it. Nothing else. I called Chevy after getting home and the person I spoke to said he was going to call the dealer and find out what the part was and make sure that he helped track one down and follow up with me at every step to let me know what was going on. Called Chevy Monday the Case manager was not available. Called today and same thing. Spoke with another case worker and they said the part had been ordered but there is a delay in parts shipment to Chevy. Nothing about any kind of time line. Pretty bad when you have a brand new vehicle with 5700 miles and Chevy can't find a part to fix it. Don't buy Chevy as they don't have the parts to fix your vehicle read more

I had a turn signal light burn out. I took it to Cox and they told me the problem was not a bulb but the entire LED kit. The cost to repair would be over $1400.00!! I almost paid it but I was crunched for time. I ended up moving and took it to another authorized Chevy dealer. They replaced the $17.00 bulb today. The service manager said he could not explain why Cox wanted to fix the LED kit as it would not even have fixed the blinking light. Get a second opinion. Be Safe. read more

Not happy with this place. Long time customer and brought my car in for AC service. After having it 3 days I got it back. They fixed the problem $1800 later. When the next morning I got up a puddle was under my car. I took it back and they damaged my radiator when fixing my AC. They did the right thing and did not charge me for the repair. It took 3 more days to get the radiator because they had to order it. I am grateful they did not charge me for the radiator repair but I will not be back there again. Not even for an oil change. They better have parts on hand and get better mechanics. read more

I returned the car in 7 days with 240 miles. an employee created at me alleging I couldn't read and refused to honor their guarantee. The finance screamed and yelled at, accused me of being uneducated and illiterate. the General manager ignored me. they tricked me into paying over $55,000 for a $36,000 car. I looked at a used 2016 Chevrolet Cruz. It was clean. I was allowed only to drive it in the lot - policy with low priced as is cars I was told. The price was right and outwardly all looked fine. It ran fine for as fast as one can drive a car around other cars. But luckily I asked for a hold on the vehicle so that I could get a pre purchase inspection from a mobile PPi business. Out of a possible 100 this car was given a 26. The oil had been changed according to one of the managers and that is the only thing they do with the as is cars. But the oil was the biggest issue. The entire bottom of the chassis was covered with oil from a large oil leak. Several other things were wrong and the inspector was appalled that the car was even for sale. So buyer beware. read more

I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Cox Auto Body in Bradenton regarding repairs on my Silverado 1500, which got rear-ended. I dropped my truck off on 6/27/2024, expecting the repairs to take the estimated 10 working days. After two weeks, I called to check the progress and was told they ordered the wrong tailgate. They had even painted it before confirming it was the right part, and they couldn't return it because it was already painted. They blamed this mistake on the insurance company. On 7/23/2024, I called again and was told the truck was in the final stages of reassembly and would be ready soon. On 7/26/2024, I was informed that the truck was completed but waiting on insurance to pay for supplemental costs. When I called the insurance on 7/29/2024, they confirmed the supplement was already sent out. Shortly after, I received a voicemail from Cox Auto at 9:31 AM saying they were finishing the paperwork and I could pick up my truck that afternoon. I never received another call that day. On 7/30/2024, I drove to Cox Auto Body to pick up my truck. I was told they were just finishing the paperwork. Upon reviewing the work completed, I noticed a charge of $679 for a hitch receiver and other plastic parts that were supposed to be replaced. None of these parts were actually replaced on my truck, amounting to $1113.26 worth of parts that were billed and paid for by insurance but not installed. I did not take possession of my truck at that time. After emailing with the body shop manager, he said the parts were on the rack and added, "I'm not even going to tell you why the technician didn't install them." My truck was ready later that day, and they gave me a gift card for my inconvenience. This experience has been a nightmare, and I wouldn't recommend Cox Auto Body to anyone. Their incompetence and dishonesty are beyond frustrating. I'm not sure how many other customers were trusting and did not inspect the repairs completed, but it makes me wonder how much other fraud Cox Auto Body has committed. Avoid this place at all costs! I will not be a returning customer nor recommend Cox body shop to others. read more

Repair was appropriate and corrected problem. However, don't expect your car or any communication about your car any time soon after dropping it off. I left my car Saturday morning yet no one even looked at it until Tuesday, I didn't get an update until Monday night when I called. Then when I was told the problem, estimate of repair, etc I was told to expect it Thursday night, Friday at the latest. Great. Friday happens, I call and leave a voicemail. No response. I call again Saturday morning first thing, to find my rep was out of office. I call back repeatedly until I get a person who promised someone would call later. I wait all day to get no phone calls. I reach out to my rep to leave another voicemail. Finally received a response that it would be ready Tuesday and I'd have to work through my agent to arrange pick up. After holding my car hostage for 9 days, I finally got it back. Like I said mechanically it's great. But my freshly washed car was returned covered in dirt, so much I couldn't see out the window. We were treated miserably here. While I was thinking of buying the car the salesman Nick answered my questions and responded. As soon as the sale was over, I could not get a hold of anyone and he would not return calls. When the brand new car had transmission issues at two months to the day of purchase, the repair department said the only replacement vehicle was a giant Silverado truck with no step bar/running board (which is not reasonable for many people-if you have a bad knee or people who are short, or injured, or mobility issues, or elderly, or who have small children, or 1 million other things). When I asked for any vehicle that I was physically capable of getting in and out of, (i.e. sedan, coupe,SUV, or basically anything but a giant truck), I was told that was not an option - the service department claimed it's the only option they offer for anyone. The next day I came in and spoke to a sales manager because the service department was closed, and he yelled at me and stormed off, saying that the Silverado was my only option. Once he was no longer talking to me (a woman) and my boyfriend went into his office alone, he then agreed to have us come back the next day for a rental car. We were shocked and dismayed at how unbelievably rude the employees there are, how little they care about their customers. We are happy that we no longer have this vehicle, I have no interest in ever owning a Chevrolet again, and I will tell every person that I meet to avoid Cox Chevrolet like it is the plague. I took my girlfriends car to Cox on Friday June 7th, 2024 for an 8:00 am appointment to have the tint on the rear window of her Cruze replaced. It was bubbling and warrantied fro life. It was my day off. I went in to see the service advisor Erik W., he told me that the process should be a few hours to strip, clean and reapply the tint. I told him that I was expecting 2 to 21/2 hrs wait time so I would be waiting in the lobby. He took my cell phone number down and said he'd call me when the repair was complete. Around 11:00 a.m. no communication not even a text so I figured maybe around 11:30 a.m. I should hear something. Nope! My girlfriend called me at noon on her lunch break to tell me Erik had been texting her throughout the process to say the tech was having issues removing the tint as it had been on there so long. Finally, my girlfriend called me to say that Erik had called to say the job was complete. I spent 5 hours at Cox Chevrolet waiting on a repair that should've taken a few hours and the service advisor never texted me to keep me updated as I was the person who was there due to it being my day off. No, he chose to bother my girlfriend at work instead of communicating with me. He had my cell number. I'm guessing due to it taking so much time to complete the job he didn't want to upset me would be my best guess. I'm more upset that there was no communication. Horrible experience on my day off to be sitting in the waiting room for 5 hours as if I had no other plans. Two thumbs down. read more

Dude, where's my car? 12/22/2022 (Friday) 07:00: Checked car in for 07:00 service appointment for A/C failure. 09:30: No update on car status. Walked around service lot and found car parked. Asked "Service Consultant" what is going on with my car? His reply was waiting on the "A/C Specialist" to become available to look at car. 11:00: Diagnostics determined that there was an A/C line failure. And even though it was covered by the warranty, they would have to have an off premise consultant approve the repairs. And earliest availability for off premise consultant was 12/27/2022 (Monday). Hmmm...if repairs are covered by my warranty why do they need off-site approval? 01/05/2023 (Thursday) 11:30: Called and left "Service Consultant" several messages. 14:08: Finally was in contact with "Service Consultant", and was informed that the Chevrolet Certified Service Experts initial attempt to repair A/C failure was not successful. And at the moment the car was being repaired and hoping repairs would be complete at end of business that day. Great! Been two weeks, and was never updated with repair issues encountered. 01/05/2023: End of business...No update from "Service Consultant" 01/06/2023 (Friday) No update from "Service Consultant" 01/07/2023 (Saturday) 12:17: Attempted to contact "Service Consultant" left a message. 12:22: "Service Consultant" returned my call and stated that he found my language in my message was offensive, and "he would call me when my car is ready". And that he would play my message for the owners to hear (Boo Hoo). 12:30: Called "Service Consultant" and left a message asking for him to arrange for a rental car which is covered by warranty. Still waiting for information about my rental. Review: 1- Why does a dealership need outside approval for repairs that are covered by warranty. 2- Why wasn't customer (me) contacted when service provider (COX) was not able to effect repairs as promised. 3- Why did customer (me) have to call to get an update, and assigned "Service Consultant" not reach out to update. 4- Why did customer (me) have to contact the service provider (COX) for an update on 01/07 (Saturday). When "Service Consultant" stated that he "was hoping" repairs would be completed by end of business 01/05 (Thursday). 5- If "Service Consultant" found my language offensive, then he should of request that my car service be assigned to a different More Competent "Service Consultant". 6- COX Cheverlet needs to hire more "Service Consultants" or update "Service Consultant" training to include Customer updates with progress / setbacks of ongoing repairs. read more

Very bad experience. Ordered a truck with the salesperson waited several months for its arrival. Agreed upon a price prior to delivery. After the vehicle arrived they added numerous additions like two tinted windows maybe 200 dollars on the high side, stupid third brake light gizmo....18 bucks on Amazon and nitrogen in the tires....free at Costco all for a 2000.00 bump sticker! Told them keep your truck and I'll keep my cash. Purchased the truck at Estero Chevrolet for way less and NO PRESSURE and NO ADD ONS. Sales manager was extremely rude at COX. Never Again would I waste my time stepping foot in their showroom even if they were giving it away free. read more

They gave me a dud battery replacement. I drove with it for a year and it broke. They warrantied it, but still charged me $70 to "service" in 5 min. They then replace it with another dud battery. I come in about a year later and they tell me this new "dud" battery is not covered under a new warranty. So I have to pay full price and get it "serviced". Just another shady dealership. Saw an ad for a car on their website & was interested. I chatted with a salesperson online & even put in my trade-in car based on my Florida tags, made sure it pulled up the right model, mileage, options, color, etc. & was given a value range (fair, average & excellent conditions). I made an appointment to come look at the car I was interested in. I made an appointment with Ty. I got there & he showed up a few minutes later, no biggie. He told me the car I was interested in had a dead battery so they were changing it & it'd be just a few minutes. He came back & got the keys to my car to start the appraisal process & repeated the same trade-in value range that I saw on their website. A few minutes later another older gentleman showed up, introduced that he would be taking me to go see the car (can't remember his name). We got in the car, looked everything over, then he took my license & insurance so we could go for a test drive. While he was inside I noticed the front driver headlight was out. I mentioned it to him when he came back out but he didn't say anything. We went for the test drive which went well, & went back to the dealership to discuss numbers. This is where it went downhill fast. He told me there's a major issue & I owe way more on my car than it's worth. I asked how much they were giving me for my car & he told me, which was over $3,000 less than the value/appraisal I was quoted on their website. I told him what I saw & what Ty repeated to me & he said it's just opinion, & that people don't accurately put in their info correctly when documenting a trade-in & everyone thinks their car is the best/prettiest/nicest out there. I said no, that's not what I'm saying - I'm saying you guys have me a rough appraisal based on all the ACCURATE info I provided on your website & now that I'm here in the seat you offer me $3,000 less than fair condition on your site? He proceeded to pull up KBB which showed a different value & was more than what they were offering but within range of the original appraisal I received online. I mentioned all of this again & even offered to show appraisals I've received from other dealers & he again said it's just opinions & the trade-in tool on their own website is just "data" & isn't accurate. I was like that doesn't make sense any dealership I've ever worked with before what they tell you online is fairly close to what you'll receive in trade-in value when you visit the dealership in person. He said "well, now someone physically looked at your car & that's that". & still was proceeding to tell me that people still put info wrong, the math doesn't add up, blah blah. I said ok, that's shady to offer more then provide an insultingly low number once my butt is in the seat at the dealership, asked for my keys, & left. As it turns out the quality was not as good as I thought. The exhaust manifold bolts were only hand tightened when they installed the warranty replacement engine. I started getting a pinging noise and after tightening these bolts it mostly went away. I started getting error codes and despite changing out oxygen sensors and other parts the codes never went away. Now I am finding out the exhaust manifold gasket probably got ruined from being too loose and that this may be my problem. I have had some great service from the parts department, and I know a few of the salesman who are good guys too. read more

Buyer Beware, LIES and More LIES, We purchased a used vehicle here 12/2023. First day check engine light comes on and is flashing, bring in for service and they kept the truck 4 days. Tell me to come pick it up as the engine got wet from detailing. Drive it a few more days and the check engine light is flashing again. Drop it off for 3 days. Tell me it's fixed. All this time I am telling them I am driving to St Louis 2 weeks from when I purchased. So for the first 2 weeks of owning this Tahoe it was in the shop 7 of those days. Leave to head out of town and get half way to destination and check engine light returns flashing.Have to stop and get a hotel for my family ( wife , daughter and 2 year old grand daughter).Next day it drives fine to finish my drive. First day at my sons house and the check engine light is flashing again. Finally I decided to fix my own damn car. Had to purchase a spark plug . switched that out ..still get code. swapped coils from 1 cylinder to another and code moved with coil. Had to purchase a new coil for a NEW used truck. What pissed me off most was the service dept or sales dept decided to not fix my car and take the chance of leaving my family on the side of the expressway at night for a $50 coil and probably a hour of service time. I will never do business with this company again. I don't even want their free oil changes. I will make sure.everyone I know knows as well. read more

What part of "I need my horn replaced" didn't they understand? I made an appointment to have my horn replaced. It's a dual horn, and one of the two went out. When I get there, they tell me they have to diagnose my vehicle... I just need my horn replaced. After a $192 diagnostic fee, guess what... my horn needs replaced! An hour and half later and $350 for a $20 horn, they want an "Excellent" rating for their survey... LOL! read more

DO NOT purchase a vehicle from Cox auto group. Purchased a third vehicle from them and they agreed to put new tires on it as part of the deal. Was very happy with that but when I went to pick up the truck they only put 2 tires on instead of the agreed upon 3. When I called to speak to a manager they refused to put on the third tire claiming they only agreed to 2. My paperwork states "tires" and not the specified amount we verbally agreed upon. They lost a repeat loyal customer over a $200 tire and how they treated me on attempting to have the issue rectified. Shame on them. Again, DO NOT purchase from them. Horrible service. Dropped off my fleet vehicle for a fuel pump had the same problem last year. Waited 10 day for them to replace a gasket for the catalytic converter and they did the brakes $1200. Drove 3 miles had to go back with the same problem. They assured me it was an O2 sensor. Waited 5 days for an O2 sensor. Drove it home and had to return it the next day. I asked can you rush this I have already missed over 2 weeks of work. It took them 8 days to get a fuel pump installed. Tom in service was the only one who gave a crap. I have a Chevy Corvette Z06 with barely 18,000 miles. Has been garage maintained almost it's whole life except for maybe one year. It is a 2010 model. It has a leather stitched dashboard and about two weeks ago started detaching from the plastic dashboard underneath. I've gone onto many forums and corvette chats and quite a few people are having issues with this. Some people are having luck and getting it fixed through the dealership and having them cover under a manufacturing recall. Other ones are having luck in having the dealership pay for half or work with them on getting it fixed by lifting the glass and fixing the leather versus replacing the whole dashboard which is upwards of $3000 to $4000. I gave this specific location three stars because the service was absolute shit. When I walked in the front door, no one even asked me if I needed help when I was checking out the cars in the lobby. I pulled up in a Corvette Z06, not like I don't have any money. I had to go to the receptionist and ask her where To go. Then I pulled around to the back to the service department. The service guys in the back, the two older gentleman who checked people in where rude and condescending. The only person that was ok, was one of the guys in the service department. Although he told me that the part to get the dashboard fixed would be twice as much as the Chevy Dealership in Sarasota. Sarasota Chevy told me it was going be about $2000 and I was quoted over $3000 at this dealership, just for the part. That's not even counting labor! Not sure why there's such a huge difference. He didn't even try to go talk to the manager or try to negotiate anything better for me, unlike the Sarasota Chevy dealership. Then to make things even better, one of the older gentleman got in my fucking car and moved my vehicle, as I was sitting 5 feet away in the office. I don't even let valet get in and drive my car. And he did so without permission. It was ultimately my fault for leaving my purse and therefore the key in the car. I will definitely know better then coming to this dealership ever again! read more
