Can't really call yourself an internet provider when your internet never works and you refuse to fix it.

Internet service drops constantly and I pay around $170 a month just to have my work and personal life interrupted. They make it nearly impossible to fix. Switching to Verizon. read more

If I could give no stars I would. Cox is currently with an outage in my area for cable TV , internet for 3 days now. Their tech support say they don't have any info when I call and neither does their website. I am livid, that as a paying customer they won't give any info. For 3 days they keep giving estimated time when service will return and keep pushing back the time. I don't think they are being truthful and forthcoming. I have trouble in the past with there boxes abruptly stop working, losing my DVR, getting a new upgraded box with the promise of getting back all my lost DVR then finding out it's not true, promising a new plan and then the details and cost are not what the promised. I have been with them a long time, years. But now I think I'm done, their service has really gone downhill over the years. They are quick to send emails for payment reminder at one day past due, but they won't give me info about the 3 day outage? Do not use this company at all for any products unless you want to be miserable. read more

Signed up for service and set an appointment for an issue with connectivity. My appointment was scheduled from 8-10am. Technician no showed, no call no text. I reached out to customer service and spent an hour on the line with a rep and then a supervisor, who took my cell number in case I got disconnected. Of course I end up getting disconnected somehow. I then call back and have an additional supervisor tell me I did not have an appointment from 8-10am, I was misinformed. Which is crazy because I received several verifications confir.ing my appointment from 8-10am. Now apparently I am suppose to wait all day for a tech to arrive by 6pm. I pay 95 dollars a month for an up to 500 connection. My internet goes out at 7:15 every night. I've never had any speed even close to 500. So if I drop down to thee 300 plan, I'm guessing I'll have no internet at all. I'm switching to 5g this week. Kept getting mailers saying cox is now in Maricopa. I called to switch from Dish and set up fiber optic install. Waited weeks for tech to come out and when he did I was immediately told no can do. They didn't lay any cable on my side of street. Seriously?! They didn't know this when I scheduled instal? I guess Cox was only planning to service one side of the street. Called the office to find out more. Rude associate tells me it will take weeks for them to lay cable over to my side and for me to keep calling back weekly for an update. They want me to call them for an update?! I told the guy if you want my business you need to call me when ready and I may decide to switch over from Dish. Most likely I won't be switching. read more

My service is always going out. My service (internet and TV) is out several times a day two or three days a week. I have been working at home and the service will go out and I cannot participate in a remote meeting unless I use my hotspot. Cox always recommends resetting my equipment. I don't think I should have to reset my equipment three or four times a week. I pay a lot of money for my service, and like clockwork, I can always count on my bill increasing several times a year. I'm not sure why I am paying so much for such bad service. I have started calling in and requesting a credit on my bill, but my service is out so much that I would be calling all the time. And don't get me started on the wait times for customer service. I think they make you wait so long hoping you will give up. About a month ago, I was the phone with CS for an hour and a half and that was on Superbowl Sunday. I missed the second quarter and halftime because my service was out. Moved from one apartment to another in the same complex. Did my transfer online. Everything online checked out, said the new place was already set up. Try plugging in my equipment. Does not work. Tech support said try all plugs. One semi worked flashing white light. Tech support said need to have someone come out for $75 do I want to schedule. I said no I will contact someone during business hours. Just paid my bill at my last apartment and already they are trying to charge me for a month at new apartment. Finally get a person on the phone to find out the people that used to live in the apartment were supposed to leave the equipment. They were evicted. They did not leave equipment. Had to take my equipment to the store and swap out for the non existent equipment. Still waiting to see what they are going to do about the bill. There is no other internet provider in my area at this time. I had CENTURY LINK before and they were the absolute best. I wish they would get service in my area soon! read more

Have spent literally hours on the phone dealing with our bill with cox. Kept getting charged more and more for data with no increased usuage in house, they finally convinced us to spend more and get unlimited data so we didnt have to worry about monthly overages and additional charges. I knew I was leaving for the summer at the end of April and decided to purchase Cox Homelife. I bought my cameras and the guy came out on April 6 to install. One of the cameras took almost a half hour to update and I said to the Cox employee, that's going to be a problem camera, when that happens the equipment is usually bad and he told me to just call when it happened. Well one week later, that camera went out. I troubleshot it myself and then called Cox who made me go through the steps again with them on the phone, so I did it, wasted another 30 minutes of my time in doing the same things I already did. They scheduled a guy to come out here and replace the equipment on Tuesday, April 16. The guy was about 15 minutes from the window of 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and then his supervisor made him go through all the steps as well. He gets through all the steps and then finds out they never gave him a camera to replace it with and then he calls his supervisor who says that he is not a Homelife expert, so that's why they didn't give him a camera and I had to get another appointment. My appointment was for today 4/18/2024 between 10 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and Cox "expert" calls me at 11:30 a.m. and says he's on his way. I wanted to confirm with him that he had a camera so I asked and he said no, I don't have a camera, this is for a modem switch out and I said no it's not it's for a camera switch. So now he's not coming. I call Cox and they said he should have had a camera with him, so now I am going on the third day tomorrow to has a switchout of my camera this week. By the time this is all done, I will have lost about 9 hours of my life time waiting and dealing with Cox. Horrible customer service and am going to actively be looking for another service as this is ridiculous! read more

Cox literally has the worst customer service of any business I have ever dealt with. After dealing with my cable service going out several times per month I finally scheduled a technician to come out and fix the problem. Have not had any cable for three days. Technician was scheduled to be here between 0800-1000. They sent me at least 3 emails and texts confirming the time. When no one had arrived by 10:15 I called customer service, waited on hold forever only to be told they had no work order for my scheduled service?!?! But they can reschedule it for 1-3 pm today. Seriously?! I pay $300 per month for the lousiest service ever. How do they get away with this?! Definitely time to cancel Cox and find an alternative cable option!! Every time I call customer support to tell them that I have no internet connection they never have any clue what's going on on they decide to sent out a tech. The techs that they send out seem like they have little to no clue on how to do their job, they also have absolutely no social skills and often are foreign and don't speak English well. That's fine and all but when I ask the tech what his findings where I need them to be able to communicate effectively. The tech that came out yesterday showed up 2 hours early. He also couldn't seem to find my home and I had to spend 15mins on a phone call with him to explain over and over how he can get to my home. When it was all said and done I asked what his findings where are he just kind of shrugged and didn't know what was going on. Within 3-4 hours later my service was still just as bad as it's been for the past 2-3 weeks. My wife and I are so tired of the poor service from Cox we just want to find a ISP that is reliable that gives us what we pay for. read more

Cox is an unreliable company I've been trying to get my Internet looked at since Sunday which the tech didnt call or knock but cancelled the visit, then I scheduled another visit on Monday for them to show up on Tuesday 8-10, they called I confirmed the appointment and than they cancelled. I than called support to figure out what happened and they said a tech would call to reschedule for later today in 30 min. I did not receive a call so I called after an hour passed. I was told that I would have to schedule for a appointment on Wednesday since it was past the time to schedule an appointment for today. This makes it so I can't trust the company to be reliable about keeping to their appointments, I just wish there was another provider in my area so I could switch. I cancelled my Internet and cable and was down to just land line. Wife was listed as primary. Her social was my pin. Went to store after my wife died in 2020 and cancelled cable. Assured me that everything would be changed to my name For last 4 years has remained in her name last year they must have discovered my wife died and changed pin. Locking me out of account. Cancelled phone on 11th and billing ends on 10th. They billed me 2 dollars for one day. I tried to pay it over the phone but they refused to take it. They said my pin was invalid and wanted my childhood pets name. I tried to explain to three reps that my dead wife created security questions. COX service is SOOO BAD. Over the past 24 hours I have called, done their chat experience 4 times and EVERY time they were stumped and I was told to just wait. They sent me a new modem they said I must upgrade because my old one was out of date. I am an engineer and I install networks as part of my job. The chat is all robots with canned responses. If your question or need doesn't match their canned responses they do nothing. After hearing for 24hrs that I had an outage, I just reinstalled the old modem and it all worked again. Then I asked for a tech to come fix/replace the broken modem and they said there was an outage in my area - WHILE I WAS ONLINE CHATTING ON THEIR INTERNET. Horriific - then I tried to drop internet service and they said that option is not available online and I must chat with a live agent. THEN THE CHAT NEVER PULLED UP A LIVE AGENT!!! So far they are 50% on having sufficient speed to watch Thursday night football streaming in Prime. Their service SUCKS! The only thing worse than their service is their customer service department. Same thing every time. Power down your system and reboot it. How about actually fixing your crap service and actually meet your stated service speed. Offered me a transfer deal online, wouldn't allow me to complete it online, I called in to have the deal applied, was met with a rude customer service agent that said it wasn't possible, and now they won't honor the online "transfer pricing" that they offered because they claim they can't see it, and whoops...that other agent should have applied it for me but now it's too late. Well, I can see by their rating I'm just one of legions of "customers" who've been mistreated by Cox. In my case it took several calls to have my service transferred to my new address as I requested. I didn't need as high an mbps rate so I downgraded. They said my transfer would just go to new address, plug in modem and go. It did sort of but I had to call because they kept prompting with emails and texts to activate the service. Not what they said. I did and after some time, they said the old address service was stopped and the new address was in place. Fine. But then I noticed they failed to downgrade the mbps from 500 to 250 as we had previously set up. Another call. They transferred to a "specialist" who takes care of downgrade requests. He proceeded to grill me as I knew nothing about how many devices I had and how much service I needed. I asked him to stop jacking me around and do what we previously agreed to. He then started in with me about my "attitude" suggesting that I call back later!! Can you imagine the afrontery of these idiots! They inconvenience me by flubbing up the service transfer and they're taken aback when I'm putting my foot down over their up-sales pressure tactics!! They have a monopoly in the 85022 area they know this they know you cannot get Internet from anyone other than CenturyLink, which is even worse than Cox! They have constant outages they cap your data now. They never used to, until everybody started dropping cable and using Netflix and Hulu and they didn't like that so now they charge you overages. They raise your rates and there's nothing you can do about it, and they know it! We should be able to have more options it's ridiculous that we don't. read more

This review is not directed at any particular store, but is reviewing the part of Cox that cares about providing new service to customers. I have been trying to get a line to my home for over 2 months now and I still am not anywhere close to getting that completed. After making numerous phone calls, email exchanges, and finally speaking with a supervisor over one week ago, there is NO progress in getting Cox new Cox services to my home. I have communicated with Cox by numerous phone calls and numerous emails. I have voiced to Cox that I feel like I am begging them and trying to force them to allow me to pay them for their service. I have been working on this over 2 months and I am not any closer. The issue is my home sits back approximately 400-500 feet from the box on the street. The home has never had any Cox service, so they will need to dig a trench and lay the lines for the service. Several times I have called Cox sales and different employees have told me that will not be a problem and that is not too far. Cox has mistakenly sent out Cox techs to my residence apprx. 5 times, but these were the employees who connect the internet once the line is already in my house. 4 of those techs said it would not be a problem to lay a line that far, one employee said it would be a problem, but they all voiced the Cox construction department would have to go out to determine what needs to be done. Me and my son had to miss work inappropriately because Cox mistakenly scheduled appointments with the wrong people. 2 months and I still have not heard from anyone at Cox construction nor has anyone scheduled an appointment for them to go out to the property to see what needs to be done. I am in a rural community, but there are many other homes in the neighborhood whose home sits as far back as mine and they all have Cox service to their properties. I have offered to dig the trench myself. It is a dirt road from the box on the street to my house. Does anyone know how I can get this resolved? read more

I have had Cox for 14 years. we have had issues with our tv and internet going out constantly for the last 3 weeks. I finally got to chat with someone today about it so she tried to fix it on their end and it didn't work at all so she asked me if I wanted a tech to come out and charge me $75 for their crap product, which I already pay about $300 a month for. Do not use Cox especially for their Home life security system. I am in the process of relocating. Cox has told me the system is being discontinued as soon as one year. worst customer service ever! cox complete should not exist. i was involved in the transition from cox email to yahoo. no one in technical support knew how to sync it with outlook, so they signed me up for cox complete free of charge to take care of it. that department should never be allowed to touch any customer's computer. one idiot agent deleted my saved email files after i warned her this could not happen. she hung up when i asked to see the files she claimed were there. her supervisor could not find them either and did a microsoft repair that deleted more files. i spoke with a real computer company today who said they hear this about cox everyday. my 5-year old grandson would do better in tech support than these incompetent people. now i can pay the real computer people $500-$700 to restore my computer if they are able to do so. read more

Since nobody at Cox will put me through to a supervisor, tell me where I can send photos and keeps shuffling me around or disconnecting me when all I want to do is solve an issue, I will resort to showing you all their handiwork. They sent a kid to fix my cable and I will not go in to all the details of what little he knew. But this is the what he did and how he left me hanging * Cox sends kid who looks straight out of high school to fix my internet * Doesn't know the difference between a router and a modem * Needs to borrow a screwdriver to open cable box because he doesn't have one (but kindly left some pliers behind as seen in the photos) * Pulls hundreds of feet of cable from under the street, can't figure out how to replace it, fills my garbage can with that cable * Figures way to solve problem is to hook a cable to neighbors house, run it to mine, leaving cables exposed, cable box open, tool on ground * Leaves me to find this fiasco PLEASE LOOK AT ALL 8 PHOTOS I am disgusted with Cox customer service and next time I go to Google, it will be to search for "Internet service in my area that treat their customers WAY better than this" I tried so hard to reach out to Cox to discuss this and their customer service would not let me speak to anyone in charge, send someone out to look at what I was describing or tell me where I could send photos.
