The process was made extremely difficult for something that should have been simple. The website wasn't working to update my address, so I was forced to call in. That turned into speaking with 3-4 different agents and spending about 2.5 hours just to complete a basic change. When I finally reached someone helpful, they offered me two years of Cox TV "free of charge" as part of a promotion. I want to be very clear, I did not ask for this. In fact, I told the agent multiple times that I did not want TV, but he insisted I take it after the trouble I had been through. Three weeks later, my bill was over $400. Imagine the frustration of having to call back again, especially when there was no billing data available in the app. Once again, I had to speak to multiple agents, repeat my entire situation several times, and no one seemed able to help. It got to the point where I was in tears from the frustration. Eventually, I reached someone who was actually helpful. She informed me that when you switch locations, autopay is automatically canceled, something Cox never communicated. So part of that $400 bill was a missed payment I didn't even realize hadn't gone through. That should have been clearly communicated upfront. She also discovered that the biggest reason for the inflated bill was the $140/month TV charge, the same "free" TV I was told I'd be receiving. She was shocked and said Cox does not offer free TV promotions, which means the original agent either misled me or was completely misinformed. She removed the TV charges from my current and future bills and confirmed multiple times that I would only be charged $125/month for internet. Unfortunately, it didn't end there. On my next billing cycle, my bill was over $200, and the $140 TV charge was back again. I had to call in again, explain the entire situation again, and request it be removed again. I was also repeatedly asked about returning the cable box, which I had already returned to the Cox store. Overall, this has been an incredibly frustrating and exhausting experience with customer service. The only reason I'm still using Cox is because of the fiber optic internet, which is excellent. We've had Cox for 15 years and the service has never been awesome. We finally decided to jump ship and try another company and it was *so complicated* to leave Cox. You have to either "chat" with them via their website or call and talk to a salesperson. Both wouldn't let me cancel, I went round and round typing "I'm not interested. Please just process the cancellation." on repeat, and they kept avoiding or distracting or suggesting other "deals." Has to be the least skilled tech support of any company I've ever dealt with. Don't bother getting a solution from their support line. All they can do these days is follow a couple prompts before scheduling a tech several days later. My Internet keeps going down the same time at night and stays out for 14 hours until the same time the next morning. They can't do anything from their end and the tech found now problem. Tech says it has to be coming from corporate software especially since it's the same time each night. And corporate support is a bunch of bumbling idiots. My internet has been down 63 out of the last 96 hours and they couldn't even schedule a second tech the next day. I have to wait till later in the week when I haven't been able to work until noon every day so far. Don't ever trust them to help you. I'm getting a backup internet option and switching as soon as I can confirm it's steady and reliable. read more

Cox service is so disappointing now. Over the last year or so both their internet speeds and their customer service have degraded to the point where it's almost offensive. The only time they actively provide positive communication with their customers seems to be when they want to upsell you on their services. However, Cox technicians that have come out to address slow speeds have openly advised me that the current infrastructure Cox is using to provide internet service to my address is not capable of delivering the speeds for which I'm already paying (so their dedication to the upsell is just another karma against them). It's a total lack of concern for the customer experience. If you ever want to cancel they will not let you. I have been on with a rep named Kina for 21 minutes. Customer for 23 years. Not to mention I tried canceling the other day online and the guy said he was sending me a text code and I never got it - he tried 3 times- so he tried to email it and that did not work either. (Somehow magically I got the one today immediately) Then because it was not going thru I had to try to send a picture of my ID front and back and take a picture of my face. It kept saying no match. I've been a COX customer for over 20 years. My old Wi-Fi box worked great for a long time. I briefly tried another provider for 30 days, but when I came back to COX, I was set up with their new Wi-Fi equipment. Since then, nothing has worked the way it should. I live in a small 1,800 sq.ft. home, and the COX box is placed in the same central spot as it has for years, yet the Wi-Fi cuts in and out constantly. We've spent hours on the phone with Cox, visited in person, and jumped through every hoop they asked -- all just to transfer our existing internet service to a new location. Despite confirming the transfer multiple times, on the day it was supposed to happen, they had no record of the order. No one seems to know what's going on. For all the effort Cox puts in to getting business, they fail when it comes to ensuring customers will return to their services when we need to cancel. I was simply switching to a business service for exanded needs. I contacted Cox in April to cancle the residential service that was no longer needed. Everything was done via chat and they indicated everything was completed. Fast forward to July and I found out from business support that the residential service was still active even through there were notes inditating it was to be canceled. I have not been on the phone for over 60 minutes, waiting for someone to refund the amounts billed since cancelation. Again, Cox even has notes showing I contacted them to cancel the serivce in April! Business support is generaly good, but residential tends to be very poor. If Verizona, AT&T or Tmobile Cellular is available if your area, I would give it a try....chances are it will be 1/2 the cost and better customer service. read more

Worst customer service I have ever delt with. First they set everything up and then I get a text message saying there was issues with my order so I called and they said that they cannot ship my equipment that I have to go into the store pick up the equipment and then once I have the equipment I can schedule for somebody to come out and install it for me which makes no sense so I call back and another lady said I don't have to pick up any equipment. The technicians bring the equipment with them so she's scheduled my appointment. My appointment was supposed to be the next day from 8 to 10 AM. It's 1130 and nobody has text me or anything so I called and they said I was never on the schedule and that they haven't noted that I have to pick up equipment. They will not bring it to me. I had Cox internet for years. I took for granted the weak signal and the dropped internet, frozen screens multiple times per day. It's a very low quality signal. I never saw a "strong" signal, not on the 4G or the 5G lines. I switched to T-Mobile, and I have not seen anything lower than a "strong" signal for a week now. Consistently. When I cancelled Cox they informed me i was locked into a one year service agreement because my very ill husband had been sold a "business" account rather than a residential account. I'm unclear how that happened, and why we were paying a higher rate than we should have been. T-Mobile will cut my internet bill in half,and it is a much better signal. I had already switched from Verizon to Visible due to the cost and I was unable to afford Verizon. My Visible cost was $35 a month. Cox had had a monopoly in my neighborhood for 25 years. Now, Wyyred Fiber Internet is here and there's competition. My service never exceeded 80mps down and 14 up. Now I get 300+ up and down for $25 less per month.
