I had been looking to upgrade from ATT for a long time, 70mbps, for 6 years was starting to wear on me. Gaming was alright wired ethernet, but if I ever needed to download a game, or literally anything over 10gb, it felt like an eternity. Not only that, but as you are downloading, your youtube in the background buffers, your roommate, or whoever else is connected will likely buffer, slow down.. it's literally crippling. Do you remember the dial up days? Well I found an amazing freaking deal, even Travis Hoover, who helped me, was amazed. I was prepared to enjoy this for a year, and have to suffer the consequences of eventually having to pay full price- a road I will cross another day, now that I wouldn't be wasting time downloading, buffering, and passing this suffering onto my roommate. Travis is the man, btw, this man was able to get me 60 months of worry free time with internet speeds I had only dreamed of waiting for ATT to roll out their fiber (6 years of 'Fiber is coming to your area soon!' ) He got me a lower rate, faster speeds, monthly, no contract, no penalty, and five years of savings. Hat's off to you Cox, you have an amazing Employee in Travis who went above and beyond just giving me my equipment and moving onto the next customer. read more

Went in around 11:15am when they opened at 11 and was met with the least enthusiastic individuals. Two walked to the back and one person stayed up front, Angie. She didn't help us she made us wait a little and then a lady asked about her bill and asked if she still owed money because where it dates owed it showed .88. Angie said, "Do you see the lines there? That means credit." I was called and I asked to change my bill because it went up $40. She said "Yes, that's what happens when contracts are up." Clearly it was a tough morning for this lady because why would you apply for a customer service job if you don't like talking to people right? Wrong, she continued to be disrespectful for no reason and condescending when I asked about other plans. She eventually said I could get rid of unlimited and asked how much I use every month. I let her know I'm not sure and she said, "That's why you need to download the app." Where did this app come from? After looking it up and some more remarks from Angie I did as she recommended and ended the unlimited. I let her know I will just cancel and get the cheaper plan and she said, "You can do whatever you want." A BIG THANK YOU TO ANGIE. With your encouragement we cancelled our plan with cox. The whole interaction was no more than 5-6 minutes because who is going to sit there and get spoken to like that. After three calls to Cox with three different staff members in the loyalty department over the course of a week and a half, we were told by a manager that we could just drop off the devices they sent us that we don't want. They didn't say anything else about it. There was about ten minutes until closing time. We brought in the each box with their device inside. The Tech Specialist in store said that they had to know who to take the devices off from. Fair enough. I give them the information they needed. Gave the phone number on the account. Answered the questions. They took the devices. It lowered the price $20 without losing the promotions we had on the household account. We were told changing anything would cancel the promotions we had for 2025. The Tech Specialist was SO patient, calm, and respectful. It was surprising to me after dealing with Cox staff members on the phone. If we were told there was more of a process than scanning the barcode on the boxes, we would not have gone in so close to closing time. Thanks to the one employee who didn't show disappointment when dealing with a problem three other Cox employees caused. There was no staff name on the receipt, but if the Cox store manager would like the staff number, so they can get praise for giving a positive experience to their customer I can provide that in a private message. read more

I just visited this Cox store after spending a very frustrating hour and a half on the phone with Cox customer service and getting nowhere. I walked in the store (very frustrated) and Kevin helped me right away. He resolved my issue in less than 10 minutes. He was super nice, friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. weird..I have T-Mobile internet and had seen a recent Cox promotion for internet and was planning to switch to Cox when I arrived at this store today. It's a nice, big, clean, advanced-looking store. When I was greeted by Travis, he asked what he could help me with and I explained about the add I had seen. He replied by asking how many people would be using the internet and I told him two. He then recommended that I upgrade to the higher-priced service. But instead of pushing the upsell because of the usage level, the reason he gave was because of the 'poorly re-built equipment' that they use for the lower-priced service. So I asked if their equipment was really that unreliable and he shared that he's had new customers get their equipment and return it the same day to exchange it because he didn't work when they set it up. I thanked Travis and let me know that I would just keep T-Mobile because I've never had an issue with their equipment (My TVs, Nintendo, tablet, and phones all work fine with T-Mobile internet. But my laptop does not. That's a little inconvenient but I just use my phone's Personal Hot Spot to use my laptop.) read more

Cox has the absolute worst service of any provider I deal with. The "chat" process is the only real way to get started in getting support and that wastes at least 30 min in the process. This current situation is where we had 4+ old equipment and were in need up upgrades (supposedly allowed every 3 years). Equipment was sent and was not correct. That required the 1st trip to the Cox Store where I waited, and then was placated with answers just to get me out of the store. I then had to go back to the store to return the old equipment and they recorded receipt incorrectly. I returned again to verify the correct equipment returned and again was placated that all was correct. I once again returned to the store (a 3rd time) to close out the return of the last receiver and again verify all was correct on my account. I was assured all was right. Then, I get charged $275 for non-returning of equipment. I try calling, get referred to chat, get directed to the store. I return to store (a 4th time). I explain the situation and am told...they will research (timing unknown) and if they find my equipment, I'll be credited the $275, otherwise, I'll be charged. Never was there any apologies for any inconveniences...in fact, I was informed to be patient (like 8+ hours and 4 trips to the store without resolution is NOT showing patience) and they will get back to me...as if I am the problem. Horrible, horrible customer service. I will thoroughly be researching how to get away from ever dealing with Cox Communications. read more

Is Cox worth it? Internet yes, cable TV no.. This time I downgraded my service to internet only. I finally cut the cord which will save me over $1400 A YEAR. That's crazy.. The process to downgrade was pretty simple. They will try to entice you to stay, but they were only offering discounts on adding additional services and NOT offering anything to reduce their high cable TV prices. I was actually shocked they didn't give me an offer I couldn't refuse to stay on cable tv, but they didn't seem to care. - Returning equipment to the Escondido COX store was easy... - If you're staying on Internet and you're currently renting a cable modem from Cox, just buy a modem from Costco. It will save you hundreds of dollars in the long run. Self installation was easy and a quick call to the Cox support line so you can activate your new device on their network. read more

The gentleman who assisted me was way rude last week when I went to the store to return my doorbell cam which I never took out of the box. I spoke to five different agents from the time and about 3 week period and I got different stories from all of them I feel like I was gaslighted by a Cox communications in general and just not treated well with this company at all the gaslighted me the whole time and I'm not happy with them at all and to speak to somebody that cares was just like impossible. read more

I cancelled my internet service with Cox in Early December 2025. I went to the Cox store in Escondido and dropped off my equipment. I was told I owed $10 and change to cover the remaining balance, which I paid in cash since it was a small amount. the lady asked me if I wanted a receipt and I said no thanks to save paper. A few days later I received and email confirming receipt of the gateway back, but no mention of an outstanding balance. today I received an email from cox threatening to send my account to collections if I didn't pay them the $10.16 I still owed them. really? so am I to believe that the cox representaive I paid the $10 cash to actually stole my money and failed to credit my account? Or is cox really that incompetent that they needed to charge me again and threaten me With collections? either way, I am absolutely disgusted with this company. I will never give them my business again. if you ever pay an employee at a cox store in cash, make sure you get a receipt. because if you don't they might pocket your dough like they did to me. That is my lesson learned. my opinion of cox went from high to low over $10. It's been problems after problems for years and their customer service is the worst! Even though the problems are due to their crappy equipment, they still have the nerve to charge you for coming out to fix it. My latest issue was that my remote control wasn't communicating with the box. I called to get assistance and was told to go to the Cox store to get a new remote. So I went in to get one. The person at the store asked me how happy I am with Cox as he gave me the new remote. I told him that Cox sucks and if there were other options in the area, I would cancel them in a heartbeat. He said "sorry you feel that way " and walked away. So customer service sucks as bad as the service. When I came home, the new remote wouldn't pair with the box or tv. Called customer service for help and after 30 minutes of pressing buttons and reboots, nothing was helping. Then this lady on the phone tells me that she'll have to send someone over to figure out if it's the box or the remote that's the problem. She then tells me that unless I agree to pay additional $10/month for insurance, I will be charged $75.00 for the visit. The problem is their equipment and they charge you additional fees on top of the crazy amount they already charge. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH COX. This is the absolute worst company EVER! read more

I was really stressed out when I came into the Cox store in Escondido. I had recently moved to the Rancho Bernardo area where Cox does not service. I received a notification that my email address would need to be changed, and that my old emails would disappear if not archived. I tried switching things over following the instructions given be Cox, but was only more confused. I came into the Cox Solutions store in Escondido, and was promptly greeted by a very friendly Luis. I explained my issues with him, and he took the matter into his hands and accessed my old emails.....switched them over to be archived, and then proceeded to start up my new email into a Google (gmail) account. This action on his part was so very helpful and a lifesaver to me! He didn't have to extend himself like this, as it was no benefit to Cox. I think he's just a wonderful, helpful employee who enjoys his job, and is good at it! Please let Luis know how grateful I am for his help, and that I so appreciate his patience with my email issues! The employees working here are rude absolutely rude. I was having a problem with my Cox service,they tried to charge me $100 to send out a service technician when I have a complete care package that's supposed to cover any service calls. Cox communication in general has a monopoly where they are creating an unfair business advantage for themselves by keeping competitors out. I could save up to $30 a month if I could get my Internet service with AT&T but somehow Cox has been allowed to make deals they keep the competitors out which is basically a monopoly which is supposed to be illegal in the United States. read more

I spent one hour waiting for customer service on my phone, two separate days. That was after attemting to communicate through their not very functional online chat to discontinue service for my 91 yr old mother's in Assisted Care. I pity the elderly- less than- technical person attemptin to seek to resolve a problem with Cox online customer service (as though it is customer friendly, for the tech's who designed it I am sure it is. Typical tech thinking, I have family tech professionals that do know how to program for The Customer in their language or simplicity. But rarely with Cox. They will frequently seek to keep your business, even knowing that you told them Cox doesn't service that area in Texas where your mother has moved to. A deeply troubling issue. So finally, the last service rep, after another wait on the phone, understood I was determined to end the service for my mother. I received confirmation service was discontinued. And then, I dropped off the TV and phone wifi consolel/modems, everything that came with them, and UPS gave me a receipt. The reminded me to keep it 10 days with the tracking number. The service agent mentioned Cox I tossed it 11 days later. Well... I get a bill in the mail that I owe them $195.00 for the components as they never arrived at Cox. I emailed them (here we go again). Then, I receive a call from collections that I need to pay it. I presented what I did, where, what my experience is like with Cox (not aggressively). He wants a tracking number, however, he happens to mention only three components were in the return. That I know isn't true. To clarify $195 for the one component? He says yes. "how much are the 3 others had they not showed up? He didn't know. I am headed back to UPS, bank statement shows the day I was at UPS. Reminds me of a friend years ago, who went through a rough divorce process, countless hours, notifications, signing, thinking it is close to wrapping up, and then the process reverses, do over, and get more calls and mail. And that friend followed procedures, did their part, and believed things were clear... go on with your life. Nope. I doubt any BBBureau or advocacy group can do much about it... they probably are funded by Cox and other similar businesses. read more

I am already annoyed at the ridiculous prices of cox and its monopoly in the area. The poor customer service at this location added to the aggravation. Calling out Norbert specifically. He could not explain the reasons why they cannot reduce the price if the customer is using their own device. You're pretty much SOL and ‍. That was his explanation. Not only that but he lied and did not change my plan. I was charged the following month for the more expensive plan meanwhile I requested for a downgrade. My Mom's contract finished last month and the new updated charges for her home bundle went up by quite a bit. So off we went, down to the local Escondido Cox store to renegotiate her bill. Her social security doesn't go far these days, so any help at lowering it is super helpful. She's actually at the point that she's been thinking about stopping the cable tv altogether. But.... after going in and speaking with Valerie, my Mom was given a price that she feels she can live with (at least for now). I have to say that the customer service down there is pretty great. And Vivian was great! (Give that lady a raise!) She was able to get my mom a more affordable option. I highly recommend using the local office for any customer service you may need. read more

I went into the Escondido branch on Wed. 2/23 and he helped my elderly family receive the services they needed pretty quick and thoroughly. No problem. Escondido is lucky to have Cox Cable, because where I live, my cable company is ruthless and rude. But Mario was just the opposite of that. It was great having us as our customer service specialist. By the way, there was no wait and EVERYONE wore their masks. I also felt like all the employees were pleasant and got along, which made for a very good visit! Well done Mario! This is one of those companies that are solely meant to serve their CEO and shareholders and NOT their customers. Cox treats their paying customers as if they are a huge inconvenience. They provide services far below what they promise and what you pay for. If you try to obtain a solution they make it virtually impossible. Case in point-- my latest incident with them. I've had really slow, spotty internet service. Knowing how poorly they train and empower lower-level, frontline employees, I asked to speak to a manager early in the process. Of course, that was denied. I went through three rounds of THE SAME troubleshooting and A LOT of calls, chats, and messaging. Finally, I was promised that a "Customer Loyalty Specialist" would call me in a few days. Today, someone finally called. She called 1 minute before I was to start a call with my boss. When I told her so, did she apologize for calling me at a bad time? No. She said, curtly: "We will make three attempts to reach out to you again. Possibly by end of the day today." I again told her I had to release the call. She did not say goodbye or tell me what to do if I miss the three attempts. She just hung up. They do not even provide the lowest form of business etiquette. That was early this morning. No one has attempted to call me today. So I assume, they expect me to wait by my phone to answer it when they decide it's time for me to have the privilege of speaking with them. This company thinks they are doing a huge favor to relieve you of your hard-earned cash. And you would think that you can reach out to a government agency or your local representatives for help. Nope. They have bought and paid for them. You'll get nowhere. Still, I have filed a complaint with the FTC and I encourage anyone else that has issues with them to do the same. I also encourage you to contact your local representatives to investigate this company and fine and penalize them for their seemingly criminal business practices. read more

Just be warned Cox representatives on the phone, via chat, and in the store all have different rules and guidelines apparently. On the phone I was told I was put in an unlimited internet data plan for $69.99 a month and my necessary equipment would arrive tomorrow. Equipment never shows up I chat with a rep online who tells me oh I'm sorry you actually have to go into a store to pick it up. Fine, however I'm very sick so I made sure to ask if I could have someone else pick it up for me to which he replied yes anyone can pick it up (I took a screen shot of this for proof) my husband drives to the store for me and immediately they tell him I have to be the one to pick it up even if I add him to the account. He puts me on the phone with the woman he is talking to who was also very rude when "explaining" this policy to me even though we have proof we were told he could pick it up. I then asked to speak to a manager. Apparently that's another policy that you're not allowed to speak to store managers over the phone. My husband was able to keep his cool and the store manager wound up helping him after I had him added as an authorized user (thank goodness for that). Come to find out I was not even put in an unlimited plan like I was told over the phone and now my monthly price is going to be $119.99 for an unlimited plan! At this point I'm so upset and the worst part is they are the only company who provides service to my neighborhood. Trust me I've called about 10 other companies and even tried the t-mobile internet service. I'll be looking into placing a formal complaint against Cox with the better business bureau. This company as a whole needs to do better for their customers if we are being forced to use them. read more

To make a long story short I had returned a box today to the store. When I got home one of my TVs wasn't working. I called back and spoke to Valerie. Valerie was able to assess what was going on and fix my TV in less than five minutes. Valerie is a total asset to your company and maybe needs to work for technical support.
