Excellent service and reasonable prices. Their staff are always helpful and if they can't resolve an issue remotely they'll dispatch a technician to make sure you have access to the World Wide Web. Daniel Percival was knowledgeable and friendly! I highly recommend them!

I live in a very out of the way area and I believed SDBB would be the best option after recommendations in the area, however, since the start of service I have had issue after issue. First was the actual speed of the service. When signing up for the service I had selected the highest available service (100+Mbps) yet after installation I held a consistent 25mbps. When bringing this up to the installation technician I was told it has to be configured to get that speed. I accepted this and awaited the upgrade which never came. About two weeks into the service I called again asking about the status of the upgraded speed, and was told my account hadn't been created yet and it would be processed once my account has been configured. Ok, wait some more. Month into service I call yet again on the issue, and was finally moved up to a service that provided 50mbps, not what I intended to pay for but certainly better than 25. About a week after that I'm then told that the 100mbps may not be available because I'm so far out in the boonies. Fair enough, I'll accept that. The following month I'm contacted about an equipment upgrade, which should have increased stability on the connection. It was a simple hardware swap that the technician was able to do in about 30 minutes, and upon completion we ran a speed test which showed a whopping 25mbps again. I was informed because the equipment is new they had to configure on their end to reflect my previous bandwidth. Okay, here we go again... Month later I finally receive my first bill, reflective of 3 months of service all at platinum tier service. I call billing to arrange for payment, however, I'm only willing to pay for the service I received (one month of elite and two months of basic), not a $500 bill for subpar service. After being told I'd get a call back on the issue I in fact never received a call back and had to respond to an email following a threat for disconnection if payment was not received the same day (today). I had an email conversation with Neal Morgan, who conclusively stated I had to call tech support if I was seeing a slower speed and then request to lower my tier for that billing to be reflected. And they don't do retroactive so it's only moving forward that the almost consistent 25mbps connection I've sent proof of having will be billed properly. While I will say the service has been fairly reliable (there are some service drops but it's to be expected on a P2P relay) the customer service leaves much to be desired. I did submit a payment to what I believe I owe, for the service speed I received. Talking to someone on the phone today and via email shows me that this company has some faults and I will be searching for alternative service options. Between long communication times, lack of customer empathy, and today's shenanigans it's enough to warrant a change. Spent over 10 years in the tech industry between government and MSPs so I'm fairly familiar with technology as well, it does feel bad to leave a small company for a larger corporate one but patience only goes so far. Screenshotted some stuff to solidify my long rant above. Hopefully this helps some of you considering this service make a decision.

Exterior they left this nice big hole in the exterior of my house without so much as sealing it!

BUYER BEWARE!!!! Less than 1 star for customer service. They sent their installer Alex out to my home on a very hot afternoon to install the dish. He told my wife that the only place he could put the dish was on the balcony of our newly painted home. He drilled holes into the structural beam on the balcony ran a black wire down the white walls not even tucking them into a discrete position and to top it off he drilled a hole all the way through my stucco on my home (the biggest investment in my entire life) and put plastic grommets on each side. He left them unfastened and unfilled except for the black cable wire. When I called them to have them come take a look at it, they said they would but they would have to charge me for it. My wife intervened and said the grommets were a call back the need to fill and fasten correctly and when they do that they could check signal where all of the other dishes are located like she had asked in the first place. So they did, a different technician came out to check the signal and confirmed the signal was just as good, if not better where my other dish is located. He said that the other tech (Alex) probably just didn't want to do an attic crawl on a hot afternoon and that's probably why he said he had to put it on the balcony. So I called them to have the dish moved to where we originally asked them to put it. They said no problem but we have to charge you for that. What?!?! They said they would give me a tier up for 2 months to help absorb the cost, win/win. I was at the top level tier so that was not a win/win for me and the damage to my home is going to cost a considerable amount of money to repair. I tried to negotiate with the Co-Owner (Neal Morgan) by splitting the cost of moving the dish, but he was defensive and would not budge. I finally said that I will leave the dish where it is, as to not cause anymore damage to my home until the "30 Day No Questions Asked Guarantee" period was over and then they could come and remove the equipment and repair my house. Neal came back and said that was not an option and he disconnected the service without notice but did not take down his equipment. Horrible customer service and a lazy installer who just didn't care. The disconnection of my internet service put my kids out of their online school and shut down my businesses while I scrambled to connect again. This cost me over $5000 in lost revenue and 25 hours of my time to get up an running. Oh and my kids lost hours for school and are still trying to catch up. I wish I could review the actual service itself but I wasn't given the opportunity to try it. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

Speed test on a Tuesday morning, no one on the internet, clear skies, unobstructed view.

As far as I know they are wireless only. That said, they are first rate, great service, support, etc. I've been using them for several years and the service is the most trouble-free internet services I've every had, and I've had many (Cox, AT&T,…

We use mostly 5ghz low powered stuff- we are a cat5 handoff to your router. Our gear runs in the same power range and frequencies as wifi on common household routers.

Just bought a home 2 miles from CSU-SM campus, so not really rural. My only need is fast fast fast internet (download and upload), with minimum hassle. The holy grail, right? So which service would you recommend? August 2019. Thanks!

If you can get cable internet from cox or DSL/Fiber over 20mbps from ATT those are good options. If those are not available at your home then San Diego Broadband is an excellent choice. Use this link to send in your location for review.…

I had internet service from Lightwave Wireless set up at my home in Ramona yesterday. I've been…read moreliving in Ramona since April 2024, and I have been stuck with Cox cable internet. Cox is SOOOO GROSSLY OVERPRICED. They were/are charging me $155 a month for 500mbps down, 50mbps upload service on an introductory promotional rate. That price includes whatever hideous fee Cox charges for unlimited monthly data. After the first 1-2 years, that rate would be even higher because the promotional period would be over and Cox would also start charging me to rent their cable modem monthly. The problem is, I would usually never see that 500mbps speed on speed tests. Many times it would be around 400mbps. I never saw that 50mbps upload speed, it was usually more like 29-30mbps. I also really hated dealing with Cox customer service. They are just the worst people on earth, almost malevolent. They know you're stuck with them, and they will screw you over at every single possible opportunity. Example, when I first bought this house back in April 2024, Cox sent me a home installation kit with my order. I tried every cable outlet in the house and none of them worked. I asked Cox to send a technician out since the previous owner's Cox internet service worked just fine but my new modem wasn't connecting. Cox tricked me into paying a monthly fee for "Cox Complete Care", to get a technician out to my house, then a few months later when I discovered the fee and cancelled it, they charged me over $150 cancellation fee even though I never knew I even signed up. On that day I decided that as soon as another viable ISP alternative popped up in my part of Ramona, I would ditch Cox immediately. Fast forward 6 months, and I get this flyer in the mail from Lightwave Wireless. At first I thought it was some type of cellular 5g home internet stuff, which is mostly garbage and not reliable. I did some research and it turned out it's not cellular at all, it's based on microwave technology and it requires a good line of sight to their tower on top of Mount Woodson to get this service. The service can work with perfect line of sight or near line of sight, but if there's a hill or mountain blocking your line of sight entirely, this service won't work for you. I know that cellular service is not a fit for me, but microwave service definitely has potential. This type of service has one weakness, which is line of sight, but it has some great strengths. Due to having no cable lines or power lines between your house and their tower, it means the service is effectively weatherproof. There is the potential for service up to 1000mbps with up to 200mbps upload, and the best part is even their highest tier of service cost a LOT less than what I was paying for mid tier Cox service, and all of their plans offer unlimited data built in. The flyer was very compelling, it promised unlimited data, no contracts, 30 day free trial, no overage fees, free static IP, and 10-20ms ping times.. all for 25-50% less than I was paying for Cox. I might have paid them extra money just to get Cox out of my life, but hey half price works for me! I decided to give them a call. This was on a Saturday and to my surprise an actual human being answered the phone. That human being is named Sue, and she is awesome. Maybe she was just bored that day because it was her day off, but she answered the phone anyway, and answered every single one of my questions, gave me realistic expectations of what to expect in my specific location, confirmed the 30 day free trial and etc. If I could give Sue a separate 5 star review I would! There is a $100 install fee for this service, but they do not charge you any monthly fees for their equipment. You also don't have to pay the install fee until your first bill comes in at the 30 day mark. They even offered $20 a month off for the first year. I decided to give them a shot. They came out on 12/17/24 to do a site survey and installation. There are some trees partially obscuring my direct line of sight so they couldn't mount their microwave antenna as high up as they wanted to ( the pics below are not the final mounting location, the installer ended up finding a lower position with slightly better line of sight than in the photos below). The installers were professional, friendly, on time, efficient, and they did a really nice, clean looking install for me. I love that their dish is also their modem, and it is powered via power over ethernet, the only equipment inside your house is a small PoE adapter, it's the size of a typical AC power adapter. I am getting a consistent 330-350mbps download, 40-50mbps upload with 15-20ms ping times. Everything I was doing before with the Cox 500/50 service works just as well with this 350/50 Lightwave service, I can't tell the difference in performance. If I trim some tree branches they can mount the dish higher and give me even faster speeds. This service is great. Literally half the price of Cox!
