We had the BEST fucking time going paddle boarding thanks to Provincetown Aquasports. Literally almost every vacation with water remotely in the vicinity, I suggest GF and I go paddle boarding and some way or another, we always come up with an excuse. Today was the day we were ACTUALLY going to do it. I spent the moments tossing and turning in bed the preceding night panicking about the sharks and how I would have to kill myself if I witnessed a great white shark eating my GF whole (totally possible, she's 4'10" and it would just require 1 mouthful). I built up the courage by around 10:30am and we walked the short distance from our guesthouse to PA. After signing the paperwork that indemnifies them of any disastrous circumstance, the whole experience was seamless. You can rent lockers OR a waterproof bag to store your shit while Aquasporting. The man who showed us our life jackets and then brought the shit down to the water with us was very nice. His accent was difficult to understand but paddle boarding is simple enough. We were able to paddle board about for what I was certain was at least an hour and a half but turns out it was only 40 minutes. I think the thing cost like $80 for the two of us. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of the 5 is because the guy who checked us in was really impatient and seemed easily irritated. I got some 'tude when I thought he wanted BOTH of our IDs instead of just one as collateral while we were out. Chill. The attitude was worth the really fun experience we had tho. read more

spectacular day. I took my 6 yr old and hubby here and the staff were helpful, kind, and very efficient. Ill post some pics from our lil adventure w our two kayaks for half the day. Great little spot to rent kayaks or paddle board and explore Provincetown from the water. The location is down an alleyway= behind the "Squealing Pig", so walk past the last of the windows of that spot look for the aframe sign and logo and take a right down towards the water. The staff are super kind and helpful as they were well versed in articulating the parameters of where to paddle in the water. They have both single and tandem kayaks as well as paddle boards and even provided a dry bag for belongings. Staff also instilled safety as they were certain life vests fit and were equally helpful detailing how to paddle. Other items offered for the convenience of patrons was sunscreen, insect repellent and clothing. Myself and my companion are well versed in kayaking and thoroughly enjoyed the four hour rental. We paddle to the break-wall and onto the opposite side where it was choppy, managed to see many boats and some large yachts and ventured over to the "Red Inn" in the Westend of town. We had hoped to catch a glimpse of the First Lady Jill Biden from the ocean but failed however we did manage to get a wave out of her Secret Service detail. Upon our return from the water the staff was most welcoming and showed us where to rinse our feet off as well as seating that would enable us to put our socks and shoes on. If you have not tried Stand Up Paddling (SUP), this is the place. The setting is magical for a paddle. Of course I could go on and on about the health/wellness benefits of SUP. Provincetown Aqua Sports is perfectly located on the waterfront, next to MacMillian Wharf (parking). Kanen, the manager is really friendly and the consummate professional. We rented two sit-on-top kayaks this week, one single and one two-person kayak. The prices are reasonable, the location is super convenient, with a beach location in the center of town so you can paddle west to the breakwater, which we did, or explore the east end of town. Most importantly, the staff is super friendly and very helpful. We've been coming to ptown for years and only decided to try kayaking for the first time this year. These guys were awesome!! We rented the stand up paddle boards, using them for the very first time. I believe it was JC who gave us a tutorial before sending us off with some great instructions and tips! Very helpful and kind guy. Will rent here again for sure! We did get there earlier in the morning (9:30ish) and when we came back to return our boards around 1 pm we noticed it was much busier and less inventory so watch the time. That said, we walked in with no reservations for our boards and it was no problem! You can definitely make reservations too. read more

I really feel like I'm overrating them with a one star. But I guess the one star will be for the booking phone call we made when they seem very courteous but I guess that was they were just willing to take our order and credit card number. Because after that it was all downhill, despite the over $500 we spent to rent 7 kayaks. First of all the guy we talked to wouldn't drop the kayaks off on our beach because there were stairs running to the beach and they were shorthanded supposedly (although later that day when we dropped the car off there were three people there). So we had to walk a half a mile to the beach where they would drop them off. But that's OK we agreed to that. What we did not agree to was where he left them: at the edge of the parking lot, not on to the beach as promised, good distance from the shore at Corn Hill. Then drove off. Then when two of our party of 10 could not make the trip all the way to P-town, and the fellow happened to be driving by and saw us with the kayaks on a beach short of our destination, he said he would put the two kayaks in the truck and drive them back from there although with a snarky comment that, "You know, it's not part of our service agreement", rather than, "Not a problem, I'm heading back anyways." You know, customer friendly-like. It's obvious that had implications because when I went to bring all the other kayaks back he was dismissive of our entire group and simply said you owe me 20 bucks for picking up the other two kayaks. This only a microcosm of the experience with them. Very high prices, $70 for kayaks from for the day, with snarky customer treatment. And the only reason I'm writing this is that most all members of our party, unprompted, told me how put off they were by his attitude and dismissiveness. Almost forgot. When we completed our journey, and paddled the kayaks back to the store (which is on the water), it was low tide. So when we ran out of water and climbed out on the beach, he told us we had to pull the boats all the way up to the store. Priceless!! Really too bad because there's competition in the area and certainly we will be going to one of the other rental places next time we want to do kayaks. Recommendation would be to stay away if you want to have a good experience. However if you want to pay a lot and have a lot of sarcastic service this is your place to go. read more

We did a kayaking tour to the Lighthouse during our girls trip a few weeks ago. Our guide was really nice and helped us get situated and off on our ride. He said with the wind it would be more difficult on the way out but easier on the way in. With the wind and waves both ways seemed pretty strenuous we were pretty tired afterwards. It was definitely an intermediate ride. It was fun to go to the tip of the Cape with the lighthouse but I wished I brought shoes it is really rocky to walk on! We found the most perfect sand dollar and brought it back on the kayak with us. I set it down by the lockers while I got cash to tip our guide. I accidentally left it there and they closed 90 minutes after we left. I came back the next morning right when they opened to get it and one guy admitted right after I left he just chucked it out the door and saw someone else pick it up. It was super disappointing he couldn't have waited a little while to see if I came back for it I was really sad since I was giving it to my 2 year old daughter! read more

We did the Herring Cove tour, and it was lovely. It's a joy to see someone who is doing something that seems like a great fit for who they are, and that was the impression I got of Kanen. He took so much pleasure in telling us about the area and showing us around that it was like being guided by a very enthusiastic friend who just can't help himself from sharing his favorite things. There were a total of nine boats in our tour group (including a couple of families with kids), and he did a great job keeping everybody safe and organized while being friendly and easygoing, like a calm and responsible camp counselor. It was especially nice to get to pull the boats up on sandbars and take some dips into the water in the evening light, and to paddle out between two large dunes and see a landscape we'd never have been able to get close to otherwise. read more

We were visiting for one of the busiest weeks in August, got up early one day and since it's summery warm, decided to GO! If you have at least a couple of hours, I recommend getting out there on the ocean. Owner is super knowledgeable - the staff, a bit challenging and having not paddle-boarded before, we needed a bit more guidance, where we had to pull the info out instead of it being offered up. We got just enough direction not to fall off my board and drown! YAY me! Too bad we didn't encounter the owner when we arrived (but did when we left). . . My wife and I were looking for something athletic to do and on the water. We contacted Aquasports and they told us about their tours and also their rentals. We decided to do our own trip kayaking to Long Point. It was such a great day. We paddled out to the point. Took a little break and lots of pics then paddled back through the harbor looking at all of the nice boats and taking in the shoreline landscape. We don't have a lot of paddling experience, but it was really easy to do. You do have to have some upper body strength or I would think you would be quite sore the next day! When we arrived back at shore one of the workers literally ran out to greet us and to help with our kayaks. The next time we go, we will pack a lunch and bring our dogs with life vests! They also rent waterproof, large bags and cell phone cases for $2! Can't beat that! read more

My husband and brother in law signed up for a guided kayaking tour. Their guide professed not knowing how to kayak very well and not knowing how to perform basic rescue maneuvers while not carrying appropriate safety and first aid gear. There were novice kayakers in the group and the guide did not offer them instruction or guidance. They still had a good time, but for them it was more of a kayak rental than a guided tour. read more

We took the Herring cove tidal lake tour with Drew and Cal and had a great time exploring the rivers that wind through the Moors. We had ample time to get out and stretch our legs and swim and Drew made sure he got lots of pictures of us. They do offer dry bags if you want to bring your cell phone and camera. Lots of great photo opps!!! I'd recommend this to groups, especially new visitors to the cape because you also get a bit of a history of how the dunes formed and the creation of the breakwater. Did the paddle from the harbor to Long Point Lighthouse with a large group. As others have noted, the water here can be rough, it can be windy *and* you're paddling through a boating channel so there is quite a bit of wake. We had 3 foot swells and lots of wind. If you're looking for a relaxed paddle, this isn't it! We did the Herring Cove Tidal Lake last year and that was very chill. I don't know that I would do this particular tour again but our guide was very nice and encouraging. It might have been nice to hear a bit about the history of the area, sea life etc. but in reality we were all working so hard I'm not sure that anyone would be able to listen :) read more

The classes are great for beginners to advanced. I love SUP and it's really amazing on the bay. Just went on the Herring Cove Tidal kayak tour with Kanen. It was great! He is a very enthusiastic and patient tour guide. Several in the group had never been in a kayak before. With some quick instruction we were off. Along the way he checked in with everyone. I'd ridden my bike by that tidal area for years but never even wondered about kayaking there. It gave me a whole new perspective. Really fantastic and beautiful at high tide. read more

On 7 June 2015, my wife and I, along with another couple we met at Aquasports, went on the Herring Cove tidal lake tour. The tour was helpful--Kanen explained the terrain very well, as the lake can bottom out somewhat unpredictably. The Aquasports SOT kayaks and equipment were well-maintained, and the staff was pleasant. I recommend booking an afternoon while you're in Provincetown. read more
