Came here for dinner. Their menu doesn't indicate any GF options but the server was very knowledgeable. I also researched prior to our visit and the reviews indicated they offered GF bread. I ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich on GF bread. They do not have a separate fryer so I opted for coleslaw and an extra side of garlic mashed potatoes. The food and service was really good!

We have been coming to door for years, and have always wanted to come here. We finally did and it was a very cool place. They have a nice outdoor area, and lots of really interesting plants growing around. We didn't know what to expect, the menu was smaller than I expected. Mainly burgers & sandwiches same salads and a few main dishes. I have heard about their famous onion straws. And they were very good and surprisingly not real greasy until you got to the bottom. We got the half order which was more than enough for 2 or 3 people. My wife got the Road Runner which is grilled chicken with bacon, smoked cheddar and BBQ sauce and cole slaw. Which she enjoyed. I got the fried grouper with some excellent German potato salad and cole slaw. Fish was well cooked and the sides were very good. Everything was good. The place is cool and we will like to go back sometime.

This is a very old, iconic establishment with a ton of history & great food. We were seated outside on the upper deck. We were promptly greeted by our waitress, and our drink order was taken.. we then ordered the Prairie chicken sandwich, the quesadilla and the strawberry spinach salad.

I'm so glad we added this spot to our itinerary! Hands down the best Wisconsin old-fashioned I've ever had. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. Service was great as well!

Outstanding!! As if the full parking lot on a random Tuesday in October (off season) wasn't already a clue!! First, a word of advice: plan for a bit of a wait if you want to sit inside. But it's worth it, though we got a table outside right away. And the heaters on the deck were great. Not the typical water view of Door County, but still lovely! The food was excellent. Definitely recommend the onion loaf as a starter. Highly recommend the chili! They had a German plate special tonight which was unique and very good-- knockwurst, weisswurst, german potato salad, red cabbage and rye bread. Hubs had the Reuben, and also really liked it. And when in Wisconsin, gotta do the Old Fashioned!

On a Tuesday night at 5:30 we had a 45 minute wait for a table for 2. And it was worth the wait! We had been told to try this place as we visited Door County, by not just one person but several both out of the area as well as locals. It's a true roadhouse spot so don't dress up. Everyone is friendly and the staff is great. I had the full rack of ribs with baked beans. I ate too much! It was worth it and I will do it again. She had the Reuben sandwich with fries and it was so large 1/2 of it was brought home. the only thing that was not cool was the lack of Coke or Pepsi products. They only offer 7up, etc. I was told it was because of supply chain issues in the area. Oddly enough, all other restaurants we dined at in Door County had them, so I was skeptical. We had water. They have a full bar tho.

We had a great experience on the Sunday night we dined here. They have indoor and outdoor seating. There is a bar inside. There is a swing, yard games, volleyball for kids to play with. I had the sirloin steak that came with soup, potato, veggie for $30. The steak is stopped with mushrooms and onions. My friend had the rib and fried jump shrimp special for $30. It was delicious. It came with homemade garlic smashed potatoes . We had good service. The place had a nice relaxed vibe and a good family atmosphere.

    The "Porta" sandwich

Stop for lunch on a quiet day in April before things get crazy in Door County. I had The Porta sandwich which was super flavorful. It's like a grilled cheese but with portabella mushrooms and spinach with Swiss cheese. Loved it. The server was super friendly and we hung out at the bar with the locals. Great selection of tap beers and also lots of cans to choose from. Plus they have a full bar with lots of options.

    Are dogs allowed?

We did not see any dogs at the restaurant and that includes the outside eating area too. We did not like the foods we ordered and some made with different ingredients, like a corn muffin with cinnamon, it was not good.

Our Irish server took great care of our group of 6 and worked with the bartender on our semi-customized cocktail request (whiskey sour). We loved the nightly salad special with arugula goat cheese and fresh raspberries as well as the chicken Marsala. The beef cheeks and spaetzel was hearty and good (but a bit much for summertime). Don't skip dessert-the talented pastry chef had several French delicacies on offer that were just too tempting to pass up. Reservations essential.

On this visit we shared the chicken and goat cheese wontons as a starter and they were delicious. We also enjoyed the complimentary bread with chive butter; it was so good, we took the rest of the loaf home as we didn't want it to go to waste. I had the special for my entree which was a crab encrusted cod. It was delicious and came with asparagus, roasted tomatoes and fingering potatoes. This was a hearty entree! The cocktail list is always creative and I enjoyed the Kentucky lavender lemonade which was a bourbon based drink. The lavender was present without being overpowering. Service was excellent and our server knew the menu well. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed with indoor and outdoor patio seating. If you have accessibility needs be sure to call as the main entrance involves stairs.

They don't accept reservations, so we showed up expecting to wait. The hostess told us we'd wait about 20 minutes. We were happy to grab a seat in the bar and ordered a round of old fashioneds. The drinks were great and strong! They had live music, which was initially fun. However, our 20-minute wait quickly turned into more than an hour, and our ears were getting very tired. It was so loud! The restaurant put out a table with snacks for bar patrons that was right in the walkway to the hostess stand. After watching people help themselves by grabbing directly from the bowls, we opted to avoid the germs. The crowd was an interesting mix of people who were dressed up and people who were dressed very... casually. The atmosphere was strange and surreal. When we finally got to our table, we barely saw our waiter. He was definitely flustered from the busy evening (which is totally understandable!), but it took about 20 minutes for him to greet us and get our drink order. He seemed shocked that we wanted to order. After waiting over an hour for a table and 20 minutes to order drinks, we were starting to worry we wouldn't get our food order in before the restaurant closed. We could still hear the loud music at our table and were almost ready to call the evening a loss. On a positive note, the other staff members were very friendly, especially the ones clearing tables. The food itself was good. The whole group liked what they ordered (steak, perch, and walleye), but we all agreed it wasn't worth the price.
