Burton's on the Bay is a not miss location for delicious food in Door County. Located on the Bay...you have gorgeous views of Lake Michigan and the food is incredible. We had a delicious breakfast with a pecan roll appetizer and Bloody Mary's. We all LOVED our breakfast...four different things, my favorite being the breakfast burrito. I had higher hopes for this one. We went around 11:15, hoping for breakfast (hubby) and lunch (me) choices. Turns out that the kitchen switches over at 11:30, so our server brought us the lunch menus and we just waited for the time to pass. This is located on the premises of the Alpine Resort which seems to be undergoing some renovations. Staff was friendly and we had a nice view of the water while we waited. I ordered the fish tacos and thought they were ok. Lots of fish (3-4 pieces per taco), but a very different set of flavor combinations. It had regular creamy coleslaw, black beans and a sweet Thai dressing (think egg roll dipping sauce). It wasn't really what I had hoped for. Hubby had the chicken sandwich and chips. He thought everything was ok. The way I remember it, the lunch menu was kind of limited, with not much to choose from. They do have a full bar though. read more

Though this restaurant is fancy, it had a relaxed atmosphere, and the waitstaff were friendly. My daughter absolutely loved the Margarita Pizza, while my husband had the same reaction to the Mac Daddy Burger. My son tried the Chicken Fingers with fries and his tenders were flavorful and fried to perfection. I enjoyed the Harbor Chicken Sandwich and fries as well. I don't know what they do to the fries here but they were amazing! The unsweetened tea was delicious and yes, they have free refills on tea. Gabriella did a great job, was very friendly, and very helpful with the few questions that we had. Overall, this restaurant was a nice surprise and very affordable. My husband and I came here for lunch while in town. We dined inside with a water view. We decided to share a couple apps and a sandwich. We had the grilled cheese & tomato bisque, which was good but could use a little additional something in the bisque to boost the flavor. The steak bites were phenomenal and the chimichurri was so good we were evening dipping our chips in it. We shared the buttermilk chicken sandwich, which sounds so simply basic, but was so tasty. Honestly after seeing the pictures of this place I was excited and it looked good. Came for breakfast at about 10:20, the hostess didn't say hi, the waiter never said hi, and the vibe was super off. It's been a very awkward brunch experience. I got the avocado toast and it was completely butchered. I ordered eggs with it and they came incorrectly and freezing meanwhile my girlfriend's meal came out steaming hot. After we ordered our meal took around 30 minutes and it was the simplest meal to make. Also a mimosa took around 10 minutes, the place was 2/3rds empty so that's pretty atrocious. If I could get a refund I would, never doing that again. read more

The service was very good. We were here early and sat inside. The exterior seating looked very inviting, but it was quite warm. The breakfast menu is quite stellar. I recommend the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were perfect buttermilk pillowy. The gravy was creamy and delicious. The sausage in the gravy was a bit bland, but that's what Tabasco was created for. The corned beef hash had a great presentation in a mini iron skillet. It was a little heavy on the red peppers, but overall a nice breakfast. The pancakes looked good although the potato pancakes looked more like giant hash browns as opposed to pancakes. read more

After a trolley tour, we looked for a restaurant close by and found this wonderful, peaceful gem next to the water. As part of the Alpine Resort, it has a beautiful large dining room and also a large patio for outdoor seating. With friendly, professional employees (such as Wyatt, our attentive server), the fine dining experience with beautiful views was so relaxing. The food was tasty and presented artistically, but with affordable prices. Our party had the wonderful soup and salad, a delicious burger, and the sumptuous steak sandwich with portabella mushroom. This place was pretty empty when we came for a late breakfast, I counted 11 people spread out between 3 tables. We sat down and after about 15 mins the awkward server finally came by to ask us about drinks. We ordered coffee and a few mins later he brings out a carafe of coffee and started to pour it, the dang thing was empty and he poured out the left overs into my cup which only filled it halfway. He went back and grabbed a second one to top it off. Then we ordered food, nothing crazy or complicated. Both of us ordered two eggs, bacon, and toast. It took nearly 35 mins for our food to come out. The staff seem like they couldn't care less about doing their jobs, the place itself is ok looking, it's pretty dated, and definitely needs a facelift. The music is a horrible Muzak you'd hear playing in an elevator during the mid 90s. All and all, I wouldn't come here again. We couldn't even get a refill of coffee without needing to ask. The server never came to check on us once after pouring our coffee. read more

Restaurant has great ambiance and views. Food not so good. There were four of us and each had something different on the breakfast menu. None of them were that good. I had pancakes and they were the worst i have ever had. Stiff, dense, heavy and no flavor. I had to saw through them to cut up. If your chef cannot make a good fluffy pancake just use a good mix like krusteaz buttermilk pancake mix. read more

The views from this restaurant are really beautiful, I wish I would've gotten a better picture of the view. The food is solid, it's tasty and presented nicely, but it's basic. If I could suggest something to the owners is to just add like "door county cherry preserves" or something simple like that to add to the pancakes/waffles/French toast options. While so many restaurant are struggling to find servers, this place had so many people serving and cleaning off tables, at times you could see many of them standing around because they just didn't have anything to do. We went at 10 am on a Saturday during peak fall season and the dining room wasn't even half full. Which is very different from other restaurants in door county, many of which have 1-2 hour waits for breakfast. read more

The view was amazing. We called ahead of time making sure that they were open and served breakfast until 11:30. We got there and were given a dinner menu at 10:30am. We then sat there for over 20 minutes with no service, as other people walked in got seated and served within minutes. We would have loved to try the food, but it was frustrating to see other families get served before us. read more
