There's a walking path that leads the way and there is some cool art work leading up to the park. While there we saw many different people doing tricks. There are plenty of places to stand and watch. I don't skate but I enjoyed watching different people of different ages doing some really cool tricks. I recommend this place if you are a skater or you just like to watch people as they practice their skating skills.

This place is very popular, as evidenced by the many visitors, both native Californians and those from many countries. All-day parking is available for a flat rate of $18.00 in the huge outdoor parking lot at the start of the north end of the Venice Boardwalk. There is a lot of different people here and it's a very lively beach. There's a lot of events to look at and watch for entertainment also. I was pretty stoked watching the Hoop Bus event and got to sit on the grass and watch some local basketball play between different teams. There was a breeze here even though it was a hot summer day so that was nice, but if you ever need some hats or sunglasses or even some shirts/sweaters memorabilia there's plenty of local souvenir shops along the pathway. You can see muscle beach, have desserts, and shop. Some people here also can approach you, but be aware of people handing you their CDs because once you accept it, they may ask for $5!!! Due to that, I do feel bad because like I mentioned, there are tourists here that just want to have a good time and not be approached by a stranger for monetary payments!!! You will also smell different scents of smoke in the air, so be aware of that too. I think to always just be cautious in general in large public areas. If there's rowdy people, don't stop and watch someone yelling at another person. The public bathrooms here are about as busy as you'd expect. My favorite area is when you reach the quiet zones in neighborhoods... there you can just relax and take in the nature of the beach beside the housing complexes.

This park has no shade over the playground which really sucks because it's such a nice playground. It's fully covered in sand which is a pro or con to some. My boys love the sand and it keeps them occupied for hours so it's a pro for me. They have restrooms, although I wish they would clean them more often. Everytime I've been it's been pretty dirty. Love that there are a bunch of picnic tables, however, none of them have covers to them. Some are where there are trees but other than that, mainly sunny. Since it's a recreation center they have a pool. The website states heated and year round but I've never been so I'm not too sure. But typical 4$ for adults and 1$ for kids. They have basketball courts that often fill up during the weekends. And lots of grass area to run around. Overall we do enjoy this park, just wish it had more shade.

The park was fantastic, pristine and spacious with a top tier playground. Felix's parents claimed a prime seating area right outside the playground, where we could eat and socialize while keeping an eye on our various kids. The set-up felt very safe and easy. I admit to losing track of my five-year-old for long stretches at a time, and once finding him in a piece of playground equipment with a group of children he didn't know, giggling as two of their dads spun them around and around. My two-year-old spent a lot of time in the sand with several toddler friends, pouring sand into a play table and also all up in their clothes. We brought our elderly basset hound Duke in a mobility stroller, and he got lots of attention, too. It was a nice outing for our whole family. I also couldn't help but notice that the park was right next to the Santa Monica Airport and other airplane-themed entertainment.
