I was back at Chace Park for another free concert. This time it was the band that defines Los Angeles, Los Lobos. We arrived just as they started playing and we were still able to get pretty close to the stage. The crowd ranged from kids in "The Clash" t-shirts to old people in wheelchairs. It is a great place to see a show. If someone you like is playing, make time to go see them. read more

I went to see Tyrese in concert. He was late. He was supposed to take the stage at 7:00pm. He appeared around 7:30pm. The concert was free so no complaints. He was supposed to sing until 8:30pm but he went a little bit over; however, the park employees stuck to the agreed upon time and shut the restrooms down around 7:45pm. I think porta potties were available. The issue with this park is the parking. Every year they host a big singer in the music industry for their summer concert series but they never have ample parking. I think the city needs to invest in shuttle service and rent out a big lot so people can park remotely and hop on a shuttle to the concert. They can charge a fee to park which would get more people to ride share. I did find parking at the Chase Bank for $13. I got there at 5:45pm. So hunting for parking shouldn't have been a thing. There aren't many trees there so make sure wear sunscreen and wear a sun hat. There were food trucks there for the event. I just stopped at Trader Joe's which is right next to the park. The backdrop is beautiful of the boats in the marina. I will still come but they need to address the parking issues. read more

It was my first time coming here, and my friends and I had a great time. They had a special event with a free concert at the park, so we knew it would be busy. Parking wasn't too bad, as they had several lots. We parked at Admiralty and surprisingly, there were plenty of spaces. There are only a few shaded areas with picnic tables, so majority of the people had picnic blankets and lawn chairs. Though there were a lot of people, there was still plenty of room to walk around, which I appreciated. The only thing I didn't like was that they closed the restrooms at the usual time, even though the concert didn't start until 7PM. So before the concert even started, we were left with either using the port-a potty or walking all the way to Trader Joe's. If you're wanting to attend one of their events, it's advisable to come early, but if coming here on a regular day, I think it's a perfect place to take in the views, and walk around. read more

Yachts. Best Trader Joe's you've ever seen. Right on the water with great staff. I have no idea if I was parked in a good, authorized spot. I wasn't there very long... but I loved it here. It's a very nice, well kept park and very family friendly. I took a star off because a friend reserved a space ahead of time for a memorial and we had to keep arguing with people to get them to stop trying to set up there. To top it off, one group decided to set up right in front, as if protesting. Like, WHO PROTESTS A RESERVED MEMORIAL?! Schmucks, that's who. I think there needs to be some kind of signage put up by the City in front of the areas saying who has the space and the times that way we don't have to sit there arguing with aggressive, unhappy, people because they don't believe you. read more

It's one of my favorite parks to visit since it's by the marina. It's always such a lovely view, and relaxing. I've been going since I was a teenager. You get to watch the ships pass by. Have a picnic with a view. It's really relaxing. You can also walk to some shops like REI. read more

We came here for their New Year's Eve event and it was great family fun. There are many parking lots close to the event and since we wanted to get there early and go eat at a nearby restaurant first we ended up with up close parking. As the night goes on the lots get full and the further back you will need to park. The event was really nice with a few local food trucks and vendors. There was plenty of activities for the kids such as arts and crafts and face paintings. They had tons of cute decorations and light displays for you to take pictures with. They even had a stage with a DJ and local performances. The best part is they have two huge firework displays. One at 9 PM for the East Coast countdown and one at Midnight for the West Coast countdown. We decided to leave after the 9 PM so we could get home and watch the West Coast one from the comfort of our home. Well it seemed like everyone else had the same idea because it was a madhouse to get out. I understand traffic and everyone wanting to leave but some people are just rude. Cutting people off or not following the flow of traffic, it just makes it more congested and a long wait time to get out. It probably took us almost an hour to get out and we were close to the exit. They really put a lot of thought into this event and the best part is that it's all free. Despite the long waits to get out we would probably come here again. read more

A beautiful mid-sized park overlooking the marina bay in the corner. Ambiance is relaxing and the noises of seals make this place an entertaining spot to have a nice stroll through. Parking lots nearby has meters that you need to purchase-- one lot is 90 minutes max for parking. Lots of dogs leashed and walking, fresh grass well-taken care of, and an overall perfect park to go to if you want to escape the heat!! It's also not too far off from the freeway exit-- making this a perfect park to enter in and out from. I recommend bringing blankets, sweaters and chairs in case it gets cold from the breeze. read more

Recently, I booked Soulistic Food/International Vegan Soul Food/Chef Dahm to cook at my home and to meet up at Burton Chase Park! A few close friends and I surprised my Dad, who was visiting from the Midwest with an amazing dinner picnic! Fun times & the atmosphere was beautiful, as well as everyone enjoying the scenery, including the stunning sunset! Watching the boats/yachts, the seals... Perfect location! To our surprise, there happened to be a boat parade, the same night, which made the evening even more amazing and special!! I love this place. Its so quiet, nice and serene. Just amazing little gem in MDR. They have free events all the time and fastest or best way to know about them is through facebook. I go here with my family just for a little walk around. The sunsets are just wow. Its a nice place to take pictures too. Parking is pay and park but its worth it. I also love the sea lions that come and dock near the area. Its always fun to see wild life. Its perfect for those who wana just walk around but not too up hill or downhill. This is one of my favorite spots in LA! During the summer, you can bring your food and picnic on the tables or on a grass. They have a lot of events throughout the year. This park is not new to me at all. As a kid growing up in SouthWest Los Angeles, my family and i would bring us down here when we were kids. Since than, i have not been here in awhile. Its new to my girl tho, We were here recently. Burton Chace Park reminds me of Newport Beach a little bit. We had fun with friends and coworkers here. We had our own little gathering of boat riding and people watching . Seals are real noisy and interesting here lol. You have to pay for parking, so keep up on your metet time. It goes fast here. Had a good time last weekend at Chace Park for the Musiq Soulchild for the Marina Del Rey free summer concert series in the park. The park is beautiful and much larger than I expected. You get great views of the Marina, lots of parking lots, and close to all of the shopping (Trader Joe's, clothing, etc) and restaurants. There's a nice walking/bike path with lots of room to sit and possibly have a nice picnic. read more

The beautiful 10-acre Burton W. Chace Park is a stunning destination in the Marina, jutting out into the main channel, which offers one of the best viewing areas of the harbor with water views on three sides. Hit the flat paved walking path along the perimeter a leisure walk, and relax on a bench to watch the sunset. All outside tables are first come, first served. Covered picnic pavilions and a smattering of uncovered tables, all with barbecue access, make for a great gathering place, though not in use since the pandemic. read more

I love Burton Chase Park. It may be small and hilly in some parts, but the park offers great views of the marina from pretty much every location in the park, making it a perfect destination for a picnic with family or friends or a walk. While visiting, there's always plenty of parking. Parking is free during the weekdays but there is a small fee to park on the weekends. COVID-updates: The BBQ grills are currently unavailable at this time as well as some of the picnic tables. Caution tape and physical barriers are used to prevent people from using them. Also, I noticed that the free wi-fi network is not available. My theory is that they suspended wi-fi to possibly stop people from being at the park long term but this is just a personal theory. read more

I have seen, tried to stop and reported to the office about the woman who does not put her 2 white dogs on leash and has on many occasions knocked the squirrels out of the small sapling trees so that her dogs can continue to terrorize the squirrels. Now this woman is harassing me and my husband for trying to make her put her dogs on leash. Other park patrons have been injured because of her dogs being off leash. Burton Chace Park is a lovely setting on the water in Marina del Rey for a picnic, family outing, relaxing ... and/or a summer concert.  The white pergolas on the knolls give the park a touch of class.  There is limited paid parking off Mindanao Way.  We enjoy getting here on summer weekends using the WaterBus. It was great view, we were in a community room, so parking there is 90 minutes only! Otherwise you have to park in lot 77 which is further if you're carrying stuff! No loading zone! Plus you have to set up tables yourself, and don't forget your tablecloths! Setting up could be difficult for elderly or disabled folks to do! Many people suffer from back and knee issues! Its extra if you need the kitchen! And you do need your own microphone, and bring extension cords if you need to set up electronics! Staff was excellent! read more

Some notable factoid: this park was named and dedicated to Mr Burton W Chace, who was a LA County supervisor, holding 5 consecutive terms from 1953-1972. He had the vision and was the consultant to convert these mosquito infested mudflats to what is now world renowned area Marina Del Rey, and with this park for the enjoyment of the public, hence a dedicated plaque he is known as the 'Father of the Marina.' Have been a frequent visitor with my fur baby Fendi here for over a week, mostly mornings and afternoons. The absolute best points about this park is it's location; next to the marina waterway with scenic views of the marina harbor, the grassy knolls, the bench seatings and ample parking with at least three parking lots. We were lucky to see a group of mammals: walrus, sea lions and seals sunbathe sloth like on the marina slips. And twice the same seal whose bellowing bark sounded similar to that of a dog at times, even caught Fendi's attention. The salty ocean breeze is so therapeutic to breathing cleaner air versus inner city air. But some times in the afternoons, the air smells of some fishy bait lure...quite unpleasant. The walkway along the harbor is scenic and we've made some other furry friends along the way. The park is well maintained and patrolled by local police to keep matters orderly and peaceful. Seems like a place appropriate for small family gathering or a short stroll. There are people here having BBQs (with own equipment) or lounging on the grass and benches. They put up some Christmas decorations to try to be festive. They do have restrooms here. There was another nearby restroom that was locked. read more

How is it that I've lived in Playa del Rey since 2005 & Culver City all my life and have never been to this park until 2019? This is such a beautiful park located in Marina del Rey. The views from this park are amazing. You can watch the boats passing by, walk along the water, listen to the seals , have a barbecue/picnic or even practice yoga. Maria actually offers a great Sunday yoga class overlooking the water. She is the absolute best at what she does. They've even added a Monday yoga class and will start evening yoga Sunset classes on June 3rd from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Maria mentioned that won't even have tea afterwards. One reason I may not have known about this park is because it's located at the western end of Mindanao Way. They offer free parking during the week days but on the weekends it's pay parking. read more

New Year's Eve party in Los Angeles... There was a post on Eventbrite about a New Year's Eve party. It was free, but we signed up for tickets anyway. Parking was $6 in Lot 4. Other people parked elsewhere and paid $15 while some lucked out and found a free lot! The food trucks had long lines. The restrooms were crowded because portable restrooms are challenging to use in the dark! There were face painters and vendors selling glow sticks, light sabers, blinking unicorn hair bands, etc. It was chilly at the Marina. We stood by the heaters and felt better. Overall, it was fun! The fireworks were off in the distance and still beautiful! Happy New Year! read more

12/31/2018-01/01/2019 This was a free but ticketed event. Wait, who was checking the barcode on my ticket? If you are ever so lucky to find parking in Lot 77 or Lot 4, that will be $6 please. Walk on over and you'll see all of the lights around the tree and statues. Food trucks to the far left in the parking lot. Photobooth in the back and a DJ playing lots of tunes. Plenty of vendors selling anything that glows. Festive hat for $3 and those lighted wands for $7. Extremely long lines for the food trucks. I wonder if they could have fit quite a few more trucks. We picked Heritage LA to eat when they ran out of sandwiches. I made the selection of the protein bowls instead. Once we finish, we headed towards any of the heaters and camped out. Felt like a toasted marshmallow until the countdown. I didn't even hear the DJ count it down. The fireworks were way off in the distance. Usually you here the explosions in your chest when it is so close to view. What a huge let down but glad I spent the evening with good friends. read more

Dog friendly! On leash. We ended up here at around 7a on a Wednesday to avoid traffic leaving LA for an 8:30 appointment in Santa Monica. Parked in the lot at end of Mindanao Way. Free on weekdays. We walked around from the lot to the right following the fence next to the water up to just past the Yacht club. Along the way by the statue we saw a group of sea lions, which it seems my Betty had not ever seen before (she was about 5 when she adopted me, not sure what she had experienced up to then). They were pretty vocal so kept her interest for awhile. The park is very clean and well maintained. No trash on the ground anywhere. You cannot access the water from any spot that I saw here as all gates are locked unless you have a boat there / have the code. The bathrooms nearest to the water had a sign that they were only for boat owners. I didn't look for other bathrooms. There are gazebos and other picturesque areas. I was looking for a quiet spot to launch our SUP, this is not it as no water access for us outsiders. There is a boat launch off of Fiji Way but I also heard about Mother's Beach I need to check out. There is a pretty fountain area but it was not on. The dog "run" is a super small fenced in area, best for the little ones, located next to the boat owner only bathroom building. Watch out for the overly aggressive squirrels! Burton Chase is a popular park for people who like to feed squirrels. As a result the squirrels are intimidating and run up to you demanding food. Also lots of off leash dogs. Otherwise a great park! read more

Free parking in the main lot Monday thru Friday. Thankfully a nice lady told me before I was about to pay the meter. There were plenty of children and seniors here enjoying the shade. The trail is spacious and wraps around the park with views of the harbor. Lots of trees and places to sit. But it gets crowded so go early. read more

This is a nice park area that we visited hosting a free public Christmas Event, and it is very nice in how it's laid out. The event itself, the Winter Wonderland as a festive holiday event for kids of all ages, families and friends or even for a couple to take a date out to. In So Cal, it's still looking and feeling a lot like Summer in the Autumn and Winter months of Nov/Dec, so to see and feel snow, albeit man-made ice, it's still very festive. The event was well organized and provided entertaining activities and sites for attendees. They had a paid parking lot 'tho, so parking wasn't free, but did run shuttle services. read more

Chase Park is large, located in Marina Del Rey, it has some views that you might enjoy and is a great space for parties (you need permission) and weddings. It is pretty quiet during the week, but can get crowded on the weekends. The trees are lovely and there are plenty of places to just sit and relax. It is very crowded on the 4th of July because you can see the Marina fireworks well from there. If you want to deal with the crowd, it is a great place to see the fireworks. There are a lot of great eateries near the park. It is just really nice and safe. Have fun. read more

Located by the Marina in Marina Del Rey. There was a special New Years event here fireworks and glow show. Parking was tough since the lots filled up fast. The park is pretty big lots of walking around the whole park was decorated with glow lighted lights. They had a DJ, food trucks, face painting, photo booth and hot cocoa tables. Chace Park is the largest public park in Marina del Rey. I was having a late lunch down the street at Mendocino Farms and afterwards decided to head to the park to walk off my meal. The location of the park is a bit weird as it is at the end of a dead end street. Go further down and you are by the waterfront. Though it is by the water, this isn't a beach park nor is there any sand found here. Instead you will find a lot of boat docks, so this seems like the departure point for private boat owners to go boating. The park is geared towards outdoor activities as there are many benches and a covered picnic area suitable for barbecues. There is also a notable public art piece here called The Helmsman. If you are in the area and can't make it to one of the nearby beaches, this park is a nice and suitable place to walk around by the water. Though if I had the choice, I would go to the beach instead than come here again. read more

Summertime = Burton Chace Park for me and Sandee. This local park is full of fun. There is a concert series on Saturday nites; there are fireworks on the 4th; they have bbq pits and you can't beat the view of the water. And did I mention the Water Taxi? Yes, for one buck you can cruise along the water for an entire hour. It's a bargain that can't be beat. I can spend the whole day just looking at the boats alone. (ok maybe not the whole day) This place is clean, has rest rooms and free parking (during the week only) . . even on the weekends there is parking (metered) and for $5 you can hit up the extension parking. What a great little park! There is free parking at the end of Mindanao (you have to pay on weekends), and there are lots of doggies to keep Joey company. Its surrounded on two sides by the Marina with boats, fishermen and sea lions sunning on the pontoons. They have doggie bags and waste disposals, a community room, and places to sit and ponder. There is also a covered area at the top of a small incline where you can sit and observe the scene, and there are several large family bbq areas. Agreed that on weekends it can get mobbed. A beautiful park with lots of waterfront views, and greenery. Private benches if you want to sit and relax, as well as picnic benches for quaint gatherings. The park is very tranquil and meditative. In the summer there are free music concerts, and a spectacular fireworks show on the 4th of July overlooking the water. A great nature park, safe, and perfect for all to enjoy. read more
