    Empty tables during the event

DON'T DO YOUR PARTY HERE! We love this pump track. We come here constantly, on weekdays and weekends, and we've met amazing families and friends here. My son absolutely loves this place, which is why we chose it for his 6th birthday party. What happened today completely broke my heart. We arrived early in the morning and noticed another family setting up for a party too. There were no signs saying the area was reserved, no cones, no notices, nothing indicating we could not celebrate there. We had attended many parties here before and had always seen it as a first-come, first-served community space. Because of that, it honestly never crossed my mind that our small birthday setup would be a problem. I started decorating and setting up our tables. Once everything was ready, a woman named Joi Jackson approached us and the other family and immediately told us we could not have our parties there. She said we had until 12:30 to leave or the police would come. She even told us, "You can maybe do the cake at 12," basically deciding my son's birthday schedule for us. It was only around 10 a.m. at that point, and the kids' party wasn't even starting until 11. We politely asked if we could at least bring our tables closer while my husband rushed to get more from work as early as possible. Her answer was a cold and immediate: "NO." All of this happened right in front of my 6-year-old son. My child looked at me and said: "Mom, it's okay, I can put my cake on the grass... but can my friends still stay?" No child should ever have to say that on their birthday. We asked again if we could please setup tables nearby so we could safely watch the children riding. Again, she refused. She told us to move all the way to the picnic area, far from the track and far from our kids. She claimed there was a "community event" happening and that we needed to leave by 12:30. I spoke to two different park workers afterward, and both seemed genuinely confused by the situation. They explained that normally when there is an official reservation, people receive a yellow flyer , something we never received. One worker even told us they only needed a few tables and chairs for their event and that if they needed additional tables, the park could provide them. In other words, there was absolutely no reason for us to be pushed out the way we were. But Joi insisted. I politely asked her again, for the sake of the kids, if she could show a little flexibility and kindness. I told her that if this place was truly "for the community," then why treat families from that same community this way? Her response was to tell us she helped raise 1.5 million dollars to build the pump track and that she cared deeply about the community. But her actions showed the complete opposite. What made it even more painful was realizing I actually knew her grandchildren. Our kids had played together before. She has grandkids the exact same age as mine, yet she still showed absolutely no empathy toward a little boy who simply wanted to celebrate his birthday at the place he loves most. Twenty minutes before the party started, she began placing tables and even trash cans directly in front of us, despite the fact that the rest of the area was almost completely empty. At that point, we were forced to rip down all the decorations we had worked so hard on. Instead of the four tables we planned for the children and families, we squeezed everything onto one tiny table next to a tree. Food and drinks were sitting on the floor. Parents sat on the grass. The other family was also forced to take everything down and move under another tree. We were doing everything possible to avoid getting kicked out completely. And somehow, even that wasn't enough. She called the police on my child's birthday party. Thankfully, the police officer who arrived treated us with far more compassion than the person supposedly representing the "community." He was kind, understanding, and genuinely shocked by the situation. He even apologized to us and said he couldn't believe what was happening. He tried to help us find a compromise so the children could still enjoy their day. Because of him, we were at least allowed to move slightly closer to the pump track. Meanwhile, throughout the entire party, Joi continued pointing at us and talking about us to people attending her event, while even her own grandchildren were there riding and playing with my son and his friends. As if humiliating us and stressing out a group of little kids wasn't enough already. Google for full review

I did not expect the park to have so many different areas that felt playful and relaxing at the same time, but as I explored more of it, I kept noticing how easy it was to enjoy myself without feeling rushed. The big grassy fields, the long walking paths, and the sunny open spaces all created this warm atmosphere that made the park feel welcoming from the very beginning. What really stood out to me was how many teenagers I saw there. Some were playing basketball, some were hanging out in groups, and others were taking pictures together around the park. Seeing that made the whole place feel even more lively, and it showed me right away that this is the kind of spot teenagers would genuinely love spending time in. As I kept walking around, I realized there was much more to enjoy than I expected. The playground areas looked colorful and fun, the sports courts were full of energy, and the shaded spots under the trees made it easy to take a break and just enjoy the moment. Even though it was my first time visiting Edward Vincent Jr. Park, I never doubted that the experience was going to turn out the way I hoped it would. There was something refreshing about being in a space where people of all ages were having a good time, but especially seeing so many teenagers laughing, talking, and taking photos together. It reminded me how important it is for teenagers to have places where they can feel creative, comfortable, and free to express themselves. I have lived for 24 years, but I am not physically or mentally 24 years old. In the summertime of 2024, I learned that I am still physically and mentally 18 years old, and I also learned that my prefrontal cortex is far more developed than the average 25 year old. That youthful mindset makes me appreciate places like this even more, because I can feel the same kind of excitement and creativity that teenagers feel when they are in a space that welcomes them. Edward Vincent Jr. Park is one of the most enjoyable and refreshing outdoor places I have been to in a long time, and I would highly recommend that teenagers go there. It gives them a place to hang out, take pictures, play, talk, and enjoy being themselves in a lively and open environment that feels made for them.

Lots of space for dancing (even in the wrong direction sometimes!) and all were having a blast, hootin' and a hollerin' and seeing how low we could "drop it". LOL! In other areas of this large space, the indoor basketball court had some pickup games going and in the parking lot, an organized group was doing a different style of dancing that also looked like a LOT of fun. Restrooms were clean, staff was at the front desk to answer questions and there's plenty of free parking. I'm def looking forward to my next class, even if my knees aren't. Cheers! "CC"

I love neighborhood parks, and to see them well kept is definitely a plus. I noticed a baseball diamond, a walking trail, some outdoor exercising equipment, there's also an area where you can let your dog off the leash to run around. Really nice, very clean, chill park. It definitely seems like a hidden gem, but a great place for kids and families to hang out on a nice day. Amongst the former, there's also a small skate park, tennis courts, basketball court, a playground and a preschool on the grounds. Granted, this may be a park in the middle of the hood, but I live in the 'hood' in New Orleans so i understand that everything is not always what you hear of it to be. What makes up the 'hood' is not the location or the buildings, yet, the people. Everyone out that day seemed to have the same agenda: enjoy the day. I didn't get any weary vibes at all. Oh and there's also a swing set for all you swingers out there ;)

They have like a switchback OK so which means you're going higher and higher, but without stairs, right... and six years ago I had a knee surgery where I needed to still exercise, but I just couldn't lift my knee like that just walking was all I could do so I've been in a few predicaments where you know I appreciate having this switchback, I just don't appreciate the dog poop. If you are going to violate the rules and bring your dog which I love animals I love dogs you gotta clean up after your animal. It's not OK to just to leave dog poop on the trail. And also, why aren't my Park Rangers enforcing this rule anyhow, if you wanna take a nice walk, that's gonna give you a little workout without doing too much strain than this is the park for you! At the end of the day, this is a very pretty park where you can actually barbecue you do need to reserve the space. I don't know how much it cost, but I know you need to reserve the space and then you can have a party there there's a skate park attached. I mean it's a nice park just please people be respectful and I guess it's not the Park's fault per se... But if there are Park Rangers, why aren't they enforcing this rule? Also, they lease out some space to this company that does these really cool teambuilding, exercises and wall climbs and stuff. It's pretty cool. I wanted to do it but it was like $100 a person and I was like ouch! All in all, there is a beautiful view when you do reach the top and I don't mean the top on the bottom I mean all the way up to the top has the picture show you can see all the way to the beach on a clear day. It's gorgeous.

The pools are amazing and the facilities are extremely nice. They have a very cool pool and whole bunch of things that make it more like a water park. For me personally it's good and bad but that's my own experience with this neighborhood and LAPD.

The sun was out but we enjoyed the exercise and the view. There is street parking offered at the bottom and once you go up the short dirt road you'll immediately see the stairs. From the bottom it can look quite steep but once you start going up you get used to the feel. The worst part is that the stairs are all uneven and some are pretty high (especially for kids/short adults like me), but overall the hike is pretty quick. For those in excellent physical shape, it probably only takes ~10 mins to get to the top. For those who might need to take more pauses, ~20 mins. As you walk up, there are a couple of areas you can pull over on the side and catch your breath on. Once you're at the top, there are a ton of great views and photo op spots. Heading down was a little confusing because we tried to avoid the stairs at first and use the dirt roads, however the path we picked didn't lead all the way back to the bottom so we just ended up taking the stairs for half of it.

This park is the perfect escape from the city, whether you're looking for a scenic hike, a place to bird watch, a picnic spot, or just somewhere to unwind outdoors. We enjoyed it so much that we came back two weekends in a row. Both visits consisted of finding a shady spot, throwing down a blanket, reading, and simply relaxing. It was exactly what we needed. The grounds are beautiful, with plenty of open space, walking paths, mature trees, and peaceful water features. Everywhere you look there seems to be another picturesque view. On our second visit, we discovered the Hummingbird Garden, which ended up being one of the highlights of the park. The area is filled with feeders and absolutely buzzing with wildlife. We saw hummingbirds darting between flowers and feeders, along with bees, songbirds, lizards, and squirrels. Nature lovers will be in heaven. One word of advice: keep an eye on the ground while you're walking. There was so much wildlife activity that it was easy to spot lizards and even baby squirrels scurrying around underfoot. Parking was straightforward and cost $10 for the day, with discounted admission available for service members. Whether you're looking for a quiet afternoon in nature, a family outing, or a place to reconnect with the outdoors, Kenneth Hahn is well worth a visit.
