I used to go to the original Coyote Ugly down the street before the pandemic, so I was really happy when this one opened up not too far away in the East Village. It's easily one of my favorite spots in NYC. The girls there are a fun time -- they'll take shots with you, hype you up to take over the jukebox, and actually know how to make a good drink. And just like the movie, they're up on the bar doing performances. The vibe is very much "you get what you give." It's kinda like a concert or a Broadway show -- the more energy you bring, the better your experience is gonna be. If you go in a little shy or reserved, you can still have fun, but you're not really getting the full experience. There were a lot of tourists when I went, and you could tell some of them were a little hesitant, but still enjoying themselves. My advice: don't overthink it. Go ready to have a good time, step out of your comfort zone a little, and show love to the badass women running the show. read more

So my friends who were visiting from out of town wanted to check this place out because of the reference to the movie. I've never seen the movie, so I personally did not know what to expect. As you may have read from other reviews, it's a dive bar where the bartenders will stand on the of the bar and sing, dance, get rowdy. It's pretty ratchet as there are lines of bras hung on clothesline the bar has accumulated. They had an item called Tidal Wave. Don't do it. You're essentially paying $75 for the bartender to cut your underwear up and watch the bartender pour water over herself while you take a shot. We felt sorry for our buddy who was the sacrificial lamb for our curiosity (and hurt our wallets). read more

Coyote Ugly was my first time visiting and I had heard a lot of great things going into it. Unfortunately I went during Santa Con and it was a bit too much for me. The place was extremely loud and packed, and a lot of people were already very drunk. There was a lot going on, including people getting their underwear ripped, which made the environment feel chaotic. It was not really my scene in that moment, so I did not love it personally. That said, I can definitely see how this place could be a lot of fun on a calmer night when it is less crowded. The energy is clearly there, just not something I enjoyed during such a hectic event. read more

Some bars have craft cocktails some of them have ambience and some have a velvet rope clientele. Coyote Ugly has women(the bartenders) dancing on the bar in scantily clad clothing encouraging and riling up the crowd. We went on a Friday and a Sunday. This NYC institution isn't here for the craft cocktails but for the show. The crowd is filled with tourists and people that love being humiliated, all in all it was a great fun. Sunday was just like Saturday just slightly tamer with less people. The bartenders, when they weren't dancing, were wonderful and fun. the only thing was it was slightly too bright but i suspect that's for the performance. First off, this bar is NOTHING like the old movie from 25 years ago. Therefore if you expect girls taking their bras off or wet Tshirt contests, those days are long gone for this bar unfortunately. It is now more like the Disney version of its long ago past. I am generous giving this bar 4 stars considering the music they play is mostly Pop now, rather than country and rock the way it used to be. But, most of the bartenders are very friendly, energetic, and service was fast. This bar only gets lively and busy after 10pm on Fri and Sat nights, otherwise it can be very dull here. Also, they have Busch Beer for $4 per can, which is probably their best deal. The food here is a hit or miss. Sometimes I order cheese fries and I get a nice big plate of cheese fries....other times I only get a small cup with fries stuck in it with some cheese whiz poured on top. It is a fun bar on the weekends with bartenders dancing on the bar, but do not expect the craziness like it was from the good old days. read more

My friends and I had an amazing time celebrating my bachelorette here. Between the incredibly talented performers, shout outs and overall party vibe- it was the perfect spot to kick off our night. At one point, the Coyote Ugly girls started a collection throughout the bar to get me a t-shirt. But of course the best part was dancing on the bar. (Which is completely at your own risk.) I came here with my husband after we were in the area getting lunch on a recent rainy Saturday afternoon. When we arrived, the music was loud and there were about 15 patrons inside. A couple more trickled in while we were there. But, then we realized that most of them were part of the same group and left together so the place emptied out quickly. :( I liked that they have a digital jukebox so that you can choose whatever you want to listen to. Kristen totally rocked out on top of the bar to the track -- that set the tone for the night. There was flip cup, birthday shoutouts, and overall just great hospitality. Usually a fun bar with fun bartenders. They have a jukebox too though it often takes a while for songs to come on and this is common at bars in NYC. The old Coyote Ugly was located a few blocks away and this space is an improvement and they opened here either in '21 or '22. This is a very popular spot on big nights like Halloween, etc. On those nights it gets very packed and loud. My friends and I like this spot because the bartenders aren't shy and like to have fun. The biggest improvement that could come here are the drink selections, which are a little below what you'd expect. They have hard seltzers (not counting Bud Light Seltzer - which we hate) including the new Truly version, but they should get White Claw, High Noon and Happy Dad also. The cocktails here also aren't the greatest, which unfortunately is common nowadays around NYC. Overall still a regular spot for me and the boys! read more

This might be one my favorite bars. I came here in the last week to wasn't to crowded and was not filled with guys so it was great. I danced on the bar for like 20 minutes was so much fun. Was just like the movie. The bartenders are all amazing and friendly. Gabby was our main bartender and she was great. You can buy shots for them and you get a souvenir shot glass to take home. The girls dance on the bar and do shows at least once an hour. Make sure you don't order water and try to order liquor that starts with a 'J' (just like in the movie). They also do shot time and get everyone involved to do shots together. They do $20 body shots and trust me you won't regret it, it's a whole show. I've always wanted to visit here since I was a kid and watched draw movie. Clearly this isn't the original bar so it doesn't have the charm as the movie. The girls were fun and I got to dance on the bar which was really cool but the drink prices for a limited selection of liquor was not worth it. I went on a Friday night at like 2 am and it was so dead. The service was attentive was but could also play into the fact it was so empty. Came here with friends... during a bar dance, the bartender/dancer kicked 2 cups of bud light on my friend. It was actually pretty embarrassing & she did not bother to help clean..... the security guard ending up bringing paper towels. The least she could've been done was offer my friend a free drink. I get it, accidents happen but good service is important..... a different bartender told my other friend in quote "I don't get why your friend is so upset. If i were her I wouldn't be upset. So this place is not what it looks like in the movie. If you get past that part you'll find a slightly gritty but friendly dive-ish rock n roll bar - almost like your corner neighborhood bar, if your neighborhood pub had you move your drinks every 5 minutes or so and people (some misguided among them) climbed up and started dancing on the bar. You might almost miss this place if you're walking down first avenue. Look for the red and blue (I think?) lettering and you're there. There's a happy hour special that's supposed to be good but we kind of came at an odd time (Sunday funday). There's a wall of bras some ladies decided to part company with at some point during their time here. One of the bartenders were great, serving, dancing and everything (we don't remember her name) while the others were very dry. Like you are a Coyote Ugly! Act like it! Prices for drinks are average at a bar in the city. The security were great, they helped us get up & down from the bar, and helped us with a situation we felt uncomfortable with. Overall, there isn't much to say about it. Not many people were there and it was a Saturday night but still a small amount. However, my father and I just got off a 3 hour flight to come and enjoy the music and ambiance and the manager in the back persisted on changing the music to the bar to the most DEPRESSING country music I have heard in all my years of visiting Coyote Ugly bars across the US. The rest of the story: This was my second visit to a Coyote Ugly bar, after visiting the San Antonio location in November 2011*. Not sure why I went back, as I'm definitely not the target demographic and was again with two married ladies, but we had time to kill before a show and it was right across the street so what the heck! I've mentioned the smell. Additionally, very poor beer selection.. the Corona didn't even come with a lime! A couple of taps were out (thankfully it was just Coors Light and something else equally inane) so my top two choices were Sam Adams Lager and Yuengling. The music was okay. The bartender was nice. The other patrons ranged from interesting to ironic to legitimately scary. I do have to say that when the sexy bartender danced on the bar to Duran Duran's "Come Undone", I did appreciate her gyrations. She really conveyed the mood and texture of that song through her dancing. Plus, it's the official song of my midlife crisis! Last but not least, here's a million dollar idea....open some kind of portable shower/sanitizing station outside this place and charge $20 a head to use it. Believe me, when I left I wanted to douse myself in Purell, like that scene in "Flashdance" where the dancer pulls the chain and all this water dumps on her. I don't know why this place has only 2 and a half stars overall rating- cuz I had a blast when I went! I had attended a friends show at the theater next door and I've never been here and just had to stop into the famous "Coyote Ugly." See, I'm a big movie buff- and naturally I saw the movie and always wanted to see if the place was anything like it. They don't spray water on you if you ask for it lol- but they definitely know how to have a good time and liven things up! I like the fact that they have a jukebox and you can play whatever you like- as long as it's something you can dance to of course! The bartenders were great! We were served by "Misha", and she was just awesome! It wasn't too crowded when we got there because it was still kinda early for a Saturday night- but the bouncer did say it starts to get crowded about midnight. The drinks were nice and strong so you get what you pay for. We hung out there for about two hours- and before I left, I naturally had to get up on the bar and dance one song haha! Was so much fun! The crowd was great too! Everyone dancing and having a good time. Just what I like to see at a Manhattan spot! Once again a very welcome trip to one of my favorite places. It's fun to see that Coyote ugly always make sure that people are actually having a good time. All the staff is wonderful the girls behind the bar work hard at making everybody is having a good time. Special consideration to one of the new girls at Coyote Sydney who obviously fits right in and although a little bit shy at first she really showed that she has what it takes to stand out at Coyote. As do most of the people I've ever seen there. Great place to have a good time and do something a little bit different. Definitely recommend experiencing it for everybody. read more

Me and my friend came here for drinks in a cold Wednesday where it was kinda empty. I think we paid $3 for the beers and the shots I don't remember exactly the price. You see bras hanging off the ceiling and the bartenders also dance their butt off on the bar and give the best time for lots of girls too. One of the girls invited us to dance too and the security guard was really respectful and nice to us.
