I recently had my birthday party in the back room at the Vig Bar and 100% recommend! Cancion, the event coordinator, was extremely responsive beforehand and answered all of my questions in detail which made the planning process super easy. Upon arriving, I was immediately greeted by the manager and other staff to make sure I was all settled for my party, which I really appreciated. This space has a partnership with a pizza place up the street to order food but also provides flexibility to bring in your own food which a lot of places do not allow. They also allowed me to bring balloons and cake which many places also don't allow. I had around 40 people and there was plenty of space to sit down or stand. It wasn't too loud so I was able to have a conversation with friends while also enjoying the music. The music was great and we even stayed afterwards to enjoy the DJ and the vibes were still strong. They don't serve food, but you can get food delivered right to the bar. The music is always good, and it's a great place for summer vibes with their outdoor seating. The disco ball made the room come to life and the tables looked new, seating was comfortable and spacious, kept clean, etc. We brought in decorations to set up right at 6pm, and Mark the room manager was super helpful throughout the night, especially when it was time to go at 9pm. We didn't have to worry about popping all the balloons and taking down the signs we put up. Thanks again Mark & team! Went here for free comedy while perusing through the neighborhood after dinner! Must buy a drink to get into comedy session, which is fine by me since one usually gets a drink for the comedy show anyways. It was a packed room at the end of the bar, where it seems like a typical bar, but the end room, everyone can see each other. Our session had like a 10 to 1 guy ratio. This is a small bar in LES. They were busy, but not full around 7:30 on a Friday night. I tried the El Rico cocktail with mezcal. It was supposed to be spicy, but I didn't find it overly so. Initially, the mezcal flavor was very subtle, but I tasted it more towards the end of the drink. I enjoyed the tart, citrusy taste. The Panic at the Pisco was also nice and fruity. We had been walking all day and just needed a place to sit down and have a good drink, but something beyond an average beer/mixed drink. We saw a few places but decided on this particular spot on a warm Saturday in September. They had a good amount of outdoor seating for a sidewalk bar. I think back on the many raucous nights I've spent at Vig Bar with the utmost fondness and nostalgia. Though the jaded New Yorker in me wouldn't consider this the most exciting or noteworthy bar in the city, it checks a lot of boxes which is more than I can say for a lot of the trendier spots that are often too crowded to enjoy. My friends and I have spent many nights cutting a rug into the wee hours of the morning, vibing to the live DJs they invite on a regular basis. The music is always high quality, the transitions are always smooth, and fellow dancers have always had the best energy. There's no dress code, so you can enjoy a club atmosphere without the cover fee or untoward attitudes of your typical club crowd. At first glance, the bar is just one big room, with booths and tables on one side and the bar on the other. The space in between acts as the dance floor. Peep the neon sign above the blink-and-you'll-miss-it entrance at the back that reads "Massage" and mosey on over to the back to find a secret room, spacious enough for a second dance floor and booth seating aplenty. You can reserve this for parties or just take it over with your friends for a semi-private space. It has relaxed, unpretentious speakeasy vibes. In fact, this bar is so relaxed you can bring food into its space. I recommend ordering a pie from the amazing Prince Street Pizza around the corner and bringing it back to enjoy.
