A lot of character in this little pub. I was a big fan of the upstairs loft area, accessible only by a narrow staircase that you have to duck as you walk up lest you hit your head. We were just having a good time on a Sunday afternoon after a couple of friends finished a half marathon and we were playing the shuffle board game and they asked us to keep it down. If I could leave a 0 star review i would. Went here with about 7 people. Bar was not crowded. Went to sit at the bar bc plenty of seats were open. Bartender (redhead woman) asked me what drink i wanted and my friend next to me said "no i already ordered his drink". Without warning, bartender proceeded to yell at me and my friends to not sit at the bar if we're not getting anything. (As i said i was getting something my friends was just covering it on his tab.) when my friends and i responded by kinda joking ab ridiculous she was being she started scolding and yelling at everyone and demanding to see our IDs (after already serving us earlier) (my friends and I are all in our mid twenties). Needless to say, I will never come back here bc of that woman and recommend no one else does either. Ruined our day. Awful. read more

This place is 100% just a classic dive bar in a good way! It was small place but had decent bar seating and a few tables. It also had a shuffle board which was fun to play. I've missed this place since I stopped by with a buddy in January, from the warmth of the bartender to how ice-cold my beer was. Some co-workers and I ventured out to this pub in a storm from the hotel to have a drink (or two) and debrief from a business-y day. It was like a scene from a movie where we ran in the door, slammed it shut behind us, and genuinely welcomed to their establishment and thanked for braving the weather to pay them a visit. How nice. A double of Tullamore Dew for me, Basil Hayden, and Woodford with a few ice cubes for round one and we were set. I switched it up to a Dark and Stormy to represent the weather for round 2 and they were Brought over to the table. It was a nice, quiet place to have a discussion without yelling over music or what some people call music. I'd totally go back if I was in the area. After dinner and cocktails at Spring Place I was excited to head back to Ben's "small place" on Franklin. He had the trifecta in Tribeca the ladies want. Over 6ft, family money and he didn't once mention crypto currency or interest rates on the first 2 dates. I had the perfect outfit combo of sexy librarian yet respectable mate for grandma to meet, only one coat of lip gloss to prove I cared about my looks but not too much. Respectable 2 inch Tom ford era Gucci sandals and some vintage Celine, with my blue light glasses. When he opened the door to Nancy's I knew this place was a good vibe. Billy Joel was playing, a mix of teamsters and finance bros filled the place. He grabbed my hand and took me to the second floor. From our perch we watched and ate more. Tequila sodas appear along with mozz sticks and pizza. Ben wasn't fighting fair. I wanted him now. I pictured sitting on his grandmas patio, she called a veranda, sipping a south side as Ben brought me chicken nuggets this summer, it, he was perfect. I said I had to use the rest room (the only thing I don't recommend about this place is their bathroom), instead I went to the bar and paid the bill. Best dive bar. It may be about the cheapest bar in the city. Nancy Whiskey Pub is a longtime favorite. Lots of names are scribbled on the walls everywhere. The bathrooms are scary but it's fun to read the walls. A lot of action takes place at the main bar. It gets crowded. This is hard to find a seat at even in the afternoon so you can imagine how crazy it is at happy hour. By the name of the place you can also imagine whiskey is the drink of choice. They have tons of the common brands plus more select versions. It's about $3 for wells at happy hour, and that's about the cheapest you can get in the city. The more select stuff like the Jameson Black Barrel is about $10 or so. Food is typical stuff that's greasy and fried. Things like burgers, fries, and wings. Another room is located upstairs and it's cramped. The ceiling is extra low so grab a seat and sit. It also has fun activities. Shuffleboard is a popular game. They have tournaments. read more

We were visiting NYC in early February from Phoenix and lets just say... it was cold! We wanted to do some shopping, but thought a little warming of the body (inside and out) would help loosen up our minds and pockets (It's NYC, shop til you drop y'all). We found Nancy's Whiskey Pub on the corner and it turned out that this place was JUST what we were looking for. This establishment is nothing fancy, not gonna find $18 cocktails here (if you do, you won't be leaving on your own two feet), but it was cozy, warm, and everyone there was super chill. Our bartender (forgot her name, I'm sorry!) was amazing, she poured us some hot apple cider with bourbon in it (should go without saying), and we chatted with her for a couple of hours. Having a great bartender can turn a good bar into a great and memorable bar, and this place had just that! We ended up staying a little longer than anticipated (it happens), but eventually made our way back into the cold feeling warm and refreshed and had a great day of shopping and wandering around NYC. I was visiting NYC on business and needed a place to watch the Pittsburgh Penguins vs. New York Rangers playoff game. This place came up as being open late and very close to my hotel. All I really needed as a place I could enjoy the game and have a beer without breaking the bank. This place turned out to fit that bill perfectly. Despite having a very crowded inside for a Monday night I was able to find a seat in a corner. There are a few TVs inside that made it easy to find an angle that worked to watch. 22 year old friend visiting from UK for the first time did not leave a tip on a couple of drinks and was told to 'get the f out' and verbally abused until she did. Friend was visibly embarassed and shaken and when I spoke to the manager, I reminded her that regardless of the situation tipping was still voluntary. She told that if you don't have the money to tip you should 'buy a bottle and stay in'. It has a small curb patio and that's great for hanging out on a summer night in New York City. I like the looks, huge American flag above the bar and on the opposite wall a sign reads "F... Communism". Except for last the last couple of times when the bartender was this blonde woman clearly inebriated. Typically, a brunette bartender (Nancy?) mans the bar. The drinks are affordable for New York - $9 for a whiskey in NY??? Unheard of. Strolled in here randomly after having dinner at Tamarind near by. It definitely feels like a local watering hole that caters to the neighborhood. I suggest going in with an open mind not expecting anything and acting like a local and you'll be fine .
