Her personality actually sparked a conversation between us, and as someone who is very big on customer service, that meant a lot to me. The person at the front counter is often the first person you interact with, and they can set the tone for the entire experience. **Jayden did exactly that.** Her smile brightened the room, she made me feel welcome, and she genuinely added to my experience. **Jayden deserves a raise.** Now, on to the food. I want to put everything in the proper context: **Face Plant is a vegan fast-food/drive-thru spot.** I wasn't walking in expecting a gourmet meal. With that in mind, I was impressed with the food overall. I ordered the **Famous Burger with cheese and no tomato.** It came with lettuce, pickles, onions, cheese, and sauce. The patty was thin, but it was tasty and well-seasoned. The closest comparison I can make is a single Wendy's-style patty in terms of size and texture, except I thought this one was seasoned better than the Wendy's burgers I remember eating. The cheese was nicely melted, the presentation was good, and it didn't look like somebody just threw everything together. **Burger: 7.39/10** I also had to try the **nuggets** because I saw them highlighted online. They were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, and I enjoyed them. I've eaten a LOT of vegan nuggets over the years, though, and vegan nuggets are one of those foods that companies have gotten pretty good at replicating. That's where my biggest criticism comes in: **the price.** If I remember correctly, five nuggets were around $9.99 or $10.99. While they tasted good, I didn't find them significantly different from some of the quality frozen vegan nuggets I've bought from the store and thrown into an air fryer. I'm already someone who expects to pay a little more at a vegan restaurant, so I'm not expecting bargain prices. But around $10 for five nuggets is just too much for me. **Nuggets: 7.02/10** Finally, I had the **cookies & cream milkshake.** It was good, but at **$7.50**, I thought it was slightly overpriced as well. Something around $6.50 would have felt reasonable to me, and even $6.99 wouldn't have bothered me much. $7.50 started pushing it. The shake was also **THICK** -- basically ice-cream thick. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but with cookies & cream, you also have cookie pieces competing with an already thick consistency. Even though the straw was wider than a normal straw, I think an even wider straw would work better because the cookie pieces can block the airflow. I eventually let mine melt a little, which helped. **Cookies & Cream Shake: 6.97/10** My other critique would be the interior. The overall **Face Plant branding is cool**, but the restaurant itself still feels pretty bare, especially around the windows. Even some promotional graphics showing the food or reinforcing the Face Plant branding would give the space more personality. That said, from what I understand, this location is still fairly new, and honestly, there was something cool about that too. It almost felt like I was experiencing a business while it's still being built from the ground up. Overall, **Face Plant gave me a very good experience.** The burger especially was refreshing after recently having a disappointing veggie burger elsewhere in the Northwest. The food was good, the prices on a couple of items could use some work, and the restaurant itself still has room to develop its atmosphere. But what I'll remember most is the customer service. **Jayden set the tone for the entire experience.** Great food can bring somebody through the door, but great customer service can make them actually want to come back. And once again... **Give Jayden a raise. **

Ordered Philly cheese steak, macaroni salad and motzerella sticks…read more The Philly cheese steak was burnt. Not a little burnt a lot burnt. The soy curls were so burnt I couldn't bite through them. The char from the burnt pieces came off on the bread so the whole sandwich taste like charcoal. Picture of the burnt soy curls added. The macaroni salad seemed old. What was supposed to be a creamy dressing was chunky and partially dried up. Other than the onions and carrots there was no flavor. The motzerella sticks were ok. They were VERY tiny compared to the picture on the menu. In reality they are about as long as a finger and much skinnier than a pinky finger. They taste ok. The marinara sauce they come with would have been much better if it was warm but it was cold enough to know it came right out of the fridge or cooler. Overall it seems this place is trying to scrape by with as little effort as possible and doesn't care about their customers. There is no way you can put a sandwich together and not see how horribly you burnt the food. Just a big middle finger to the customers that pay for this food. Don't waste your money. There are so many better options. I wish I wouldn't have spent any money on this place.

Serene is one of the newer carts over at the Hawthorne Asylum and one of the few left that I hadn't had a chance to try. I work in the area and so since the beginnings of the Asylum, I've hit up just about every cart there. So a buffalo chicken sandwich seemed intriguing to me. Cheddar and blue cheese, green onions, hot sauce and chicken snuggled between two large slices of toasty bread. It was great and it was filling and only $9. Worth the value and worth checking out.
