First, this happened to fall the weekend of Hurricane Michael when everyone lost power including Reaba. It was very last minute as my trip plans changed and I had to leave earlier than expected and could not reach the place originally scheduled for my dog. I quickly search engines somewhere and Reaba popped up and I called explained my situation and though slightly off her normal stipulations she agreed to help me. Of course none of us expected the storm at this point as it was Thursday. We left, and I am always super apprehensive leaving Smokey bc he was a rescue and I always worry he thinks I am abandoning him. Well storm hits and sure enough Reaba lost power the entire time I was gone as did everyone here in Saxapahaw. When we returned Sunday we weren't sure what we would return to at our house so Reaba was gracious enough to offer if we needed to pick him up the next day that was fine. Fortunately we did not. We picked up Smoky and I was expecting the usual, my dog to be anxiously waiting for me jumping up to see me , jumping in my car, jumping and running. What I got was similar to a mopey child being picked up by mom to early I seriously could not believe it. My dog did not want to leave!! My dog came home with more manners, quieter, more well trained than I sent him!!! I am still in disbelief!!! I cannot reccommend NO BARKING BACK enough!!!! Honestly!!! I feel like my dog has made friends with Rebea's kids and can't wait to visit again! In that time, we have certainly been "frequent flyers," due to several health events. I believe we have seen or interacted with every veterinarian at the practice and most of the vet techs and front desk staff at some point, and everyone has been amazing and has truly gone above and beyond to help our sweet boy. I won't go into Toothless' whole backstory because we would be here all day. Basically, throughout the time we have been with Town & Country, they have helped Toothless through a UTI, a major surgery to remove an abdominal mass, weight loss, seizures, pancreatitis, gallstones, in addition to all the other "normal" things that come with being a senior cat. It would've been so easy for a veterinarian to encourage us to put Toothless down at any point during his health journey; in fact, that happened at the emergency vet that we took him to late one night prior to us finding the abdominal mass and having surgery. The veterinarians at Town N' Country always present us with all available options and help us weigh the pros and cons of each. Their dedication to doing what is best for Toothless, and for us, has really gone above and beyond anything I expected. The only reason Toothless is alive today is because of the dedication of the vets, vet techs, and staff at Town N' Country. Especially since he had his abdominal surgery in April, I have been in contact with Town N' Country through text or phone more days than not. Even though I have been constantly messaging them and asking questions, all the staff at Town N' Country have been so helpful, understanding, and respectful, and they genuinely want Toothless to feel better. They've truly been a light in a really difficult time for us. Thank you to all the front desk staff for being so helpful and kind, especially the Forestdale front desk staff, who recognize us by sight when we walk in now. Thank you to all the vet techs who have worked with Toothless, but especially Alyssa, who took time to find the most affordable option for B12 injections when we were drowning in vet bills and took time on short notice to show us how to give Toothless B12 injections. Thank you to Dr. Bolynn for performing Toothless's abdominal surgery and answering my million questions afterward; even at his age, he healed amazingly thanks to the outstanding job you did. Thank you, Dr. King, for performing repeated abdominal ultrasounds on Toothless to get to the bottom of everything going on with him and explaining everything so clearly and being so empathetic. Thank you, Dr. Horn, for seeing Toothless for urgent care visits when we could not get him to eat. Thank you, Dr. Mills, for seeing us on short notice after Toothless had a seizure in May and for researching the underlying cause of his persistent diarrhea. And thank you, Dr. Hicks, for consistently being willing to try things to help Toothless have the best possible quality of life and researching further information to help him. Genuinely, Toothless, Alex, and I cannot thank you ALL enough. If I could give Town N' Country 100 stars, I would.

If you find a lost pet, do NOT take them to Southwoods!…read more I found a sweet dog late one night and immediately grew attached. Wanting to do the right thing, I had him scanned for a microchip at the nearest vet, Southwoods. He was chipped--and that's when things took a disappointing turn. The staff at Southwoods told me they were legally required to keep him, even though I offered to foster him until the owner was located. I gave them all my contact information and asked them to pass it along to the owner. I offered to keep the dog at my home in case the owner reached out. They refused and insisted he could not be returned to me. I later discovered that Guilford County Animal Services has a Stray to Foster Program, which encourages good Samaritans to foster found pets during the stray hold period--and they even offer support and supplies. I wish I had known that beforehand. Southwoods also claimed they would take the dog to the shelter the next day if the owner didn't come, and that I could possibly adopt him from the shelter after the hold period. In reality, they took him to the shelter the same day. Based on this experience and the misinformation I was given, I would not recommend taking found animals--or even your own pets--to Southwoods. Please consider going directly to the Guilford County Animal Shelter or following their Stray to Foster guidelines if you find a lost pet.

The care my babies have received is priceless. Not literally....they've cost me tons, but the quality of care has been worth every penny. The love and compassion they showed when I had to put my first two babies down two years apart was how it should be done. Knowing that they care makes an absolutely devastating experience manageable. They're special people (and fun)! I've always enjoyed going just so I get to see and talk with them, and over the years, I've had to go A LOT. I trust them and I appreciate them more than I think they'll ever know.
