My rule, "if you can make at home better, then why bother." The staff was naive and not up to speed. The owner is kinda of a bear, pushy and not attractive. Menu is blah. Been here twice. My wife had the 'braised short-ribs' which was Luke warm and tasted like roast beef....blah. Wine list is ok but nothing to get excited. We started out with fantastic apps: la Baguette deserved a 5 star, carmelized apple & Blue Cheese crustini deserved a 5 star, the Eacargot also a 5 star, but the Goat Cheese Pizza would have gotten 6 stars if there was such a rating. However the French Onion Soup was a little too salty, the chicken salad too everyday. The Grilled Ahi Tuna kicked butt as a 5 star. Overall would rate the Cozy Grape wine Bistro 4.5 starts. Yesterday Feb 13, 2021 we had a terribly bad experience with this Restaurant Manager. On January 28, 2021, I called and made reservations for Valentines weekend, when we arrived for our 6 PM reservation we were told we did not have a reservation. It was bad enough and humiliating to stand there being told we did not have a reservation while other guest watched as they were looking on from their tables. We were told by the Manager they could not seat us because we did not have a reservation. My wife said we had eaten there before and enjoyed the food. She said we will not be back in the future. Then came the most rude statement from the Manager. THAT'S OK, I DON'T CARE. We have told many people how great the food was, "one of the best steaks I have ever eaten". Now I feel it is my responsibility to tell friends if you don't want to experience the same rude Manager, I suggest you not go to the Cozy Grape. read more

We walked in last night and we were surprised that NOBODY WAS WEARING MASKS. None of the staff or customers walking around/to the bathroom had masks on. We absolutely love Cozy Grape. The food is absolutely delicious and the wait staff always takes phenomenal care of you. They also have a cozy patio in the back where you can eat and drink with your group (and it's dog friendly)! I would have liked to give this place a better review as the staff was attentive and we enjoyed the atmosphere very much. The risotto was awesome and the shrimp scampi appetizer was great. The problem was this: My wife and I got the shrimp and scallops for our entree. The entree should be the star of the show. Both the shrimp and the scallops were extremely overcooked. On March 1, 2024 my tennis decided to have our end of match lunch at Cozy Grape. Our age average of our team is above 60 and this Thursday lunch is a regular occurrence. We have, as a team, been to Cozy Grape many times. There were 10 of us and the weather was chilly. We asked to be seated upstairs as it was a big party and were told they would seat us in the main dining room. There were about 12 other people in the room. Drink order was given and drinks arrived. The waiter then took our food order. As a group we cheered for our successes and losses as is the custom. At this time, a gentleman, I am assuming manager or owner, went to one person and told her to shut up. She replied No, thinking he was kidding. The rest of us talking amongst ourselves didn't understand what was happening. He then told her to leave; he was canceling her order. Then everyone was shocked; he replied I am canceling all the orders. Most of us were shocked; half of us were drinking ice tea, soda, and water. One of our party did pay for the drinks. He never talked to the whole table; we were there less than 15 minutes. Even after attempts to talk to this "gentleman", he continued to be rude and yell "Just get out". I have never witnessed anything like it. I will never go back. Just to respond : we are not Bentwater but Walden. Speaking to people with respect may have gotten your desired result and still maintained with clientele. You obviously had some perceived notions of our group before we even settled. The weather outside is beautiful so I couldn't pass up giving this place a try seeing how they have a great back patio! I was not in the mood for wine (seeing how I am on my way to an Oktoberfest) but their wine menu looked spectacular. The food was delicious! I would come here again and again. My boyfriend got the green sauce chicken enchiladas. My boyfriend is a die hard Berryhill enchilada fan and he use to insist they had the best enchiladas...until he ate the ones from Cozy Grape! I had the Turkey Panini. It was fantastic and had the best olive spread on it. I would recommend coming here to anyone who passes through Montgomery. Love this cozy restaurant! The food is always delicious and they accommodate from one to a crowd with friendly efficient service!

We had a reservation and were seated right away. The place was pretty full. Its a small small room and it had maybe 20 plus diners with as many tables as would fit. I've had lunch with friends there but only a few diners at the time. The only time I've had dinner there we were on the back patio outside. We've had 100 degree weather this summer so no one was sitting outside. 3 of the 4 of us ordered wine and glasses of water. We put our food order in and a few minutes later, a man told us that a table complained we were too loud. A minute later another woman, not our waitress, brought us the check for our wine and asked us to leave. We paid and left. We were there less than 15 minutes and the 4 of us were talking. My husband thought it was a joke at first and we all left confused but will never go there again. We didn't feel we were loud, maybe a laugh or two. We just felt we were unwanted. read more

Ventured to the Cozy Grape on a Sunday afternoon-drawn in by the dog friendly outside area, which was a very nice covered deck. Service was spot on and personable. They had a brunch menu as well as their regular menu available. I originally ordered the mushroom crepes, but they were a little too on the oily/creamy side for me (my cousin loved them though). My second order, chicken soup, was surprisingly tasty and complex in flavor. Hubby enjoyed his Tuscany panini and cousin #2 really liked his Enchiladas Tejanas. None of us were drinking, but they had a nice, extensive wine and beer menu. After our meal we just sat for a while and talked-the atmosphere was great and there was no pressure to move quickly. Ok let me start by saying the first 5 to six times here we only ate brunch on Sunday and ordered the crab cake Benedict. This includes two home made slider buns; one with crab cake and one with shaved ham and both with pesto, a perfectly poached egg, killer hollandaise sauce and some potatoes on the side. Service is always great and the wait was never bad. We FINALLY had dinner here and it was also stellar. One night the special was ribeye cooked over charcoal with blue cheese butter. This was the second best steak I've ever eaten (first being from Longhis in honolulu). They have great craft beers from around the United states and more wine to choose from than I care to mention. One other item to NEED is the French onion soup. It is a light colored base somehow and I dare you not to lick the bowl. Oh and if you are lucky enough to find tres leches as the special you should do it. I have to give it four stars for lack of options. The menu is a little small. WE eat here often and always have great service and really love the nice wine list they have here. There aren't a lot of places in this area so they get a lot of business and sometimes you might wait a bit, but not too much. They have a good selection of food to choose from, but the dinner specials are the best!!! Try the carbonara or the pollo Romano!!!! Brunch on the patio is nice in any weather because it's covered and protected and they have heaters for the cold and misting fans for hot days. HORRIBLE GM!! Took my 81 year old mother there. She had a fly in her drink. It happens, I get it. But the GM's response was, "I have a sign in the back, it says no flies but they don't listen." I thought he was joking but he wasn't. I feel bad for our awesome waitress Zoey that she has to work with a GM like that! It's good food but I'll never go back. Humorous French waitress, very attentive and quick service. My husband ordered a Shiraz, it was wonderful. I ordered a Pinot noir and it was served chilled; very strange, I've never been served a red wine cold. Appetizer was the black olive tapenade, decent portion, very salty. The server was fantastic (which is why I gave it 1 star) but, the GM was very unprofessional, sarcastic and rude. There was a huge fly in my mother-in-law's margarita. When we let the GM know, he said that he "has a sign"...when we asked what he meant by that, he said 'I have a sign that says "no flies" but, they don't listen.' This has always been my "go to" restaurant in Montgomery. However, after my latest experience, I will not be returning. I ordered a filet (my usual), when it came to the table it tasted spoiled. The manager ( I believe the manager's name is Marguerite) took a bite off my plate and stated it was "just fine". I could not eat it, the flavor was that bad! She stated blatantly that she "would not remove it from my bill, nor let me replace it with anything else from the menu". Absolutely, the WORST service and food I have ever experienced. Very unfortunate, because my family and I frequented this restaurant on a weekly basis. We have endured the rudeness at times, because we enjoyed the food. Not anymore, I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. She knew her service was poor, she had our waiter offer us free dessert to go, we declined. Denied service today. As a disabled American veteran, I was denied service because I brought a small bottle of Gatorade to the table. I explained to the server and another lady that I am 100% disabled veteran, and I was injured in combat, rupturing my pancreases, and I was experiencing low blood sugar (I even showed my sensor and low blood sugar on my monitor), hence why we came for lunch. I asked for the manager, who came out and without any compassion of even listening to me, he told me I could not have the Gatorade there, potentially putting me into hypoglycemia as we would have to wait be served. Awful overpriced food. My wife and I went here for dinner on the 17th of February. It was maybe half full at most, and every dish was awful. Escargot and shrimp scampi with no discernable flavor (and past-their-prime shrimp), steak with no seasoning that was not cooked to my requested doneness, half-raw green beans and potatoes with no flavor or seasoning, and miniscule skewers with dubiously fresh seafood for my wife. The only thing that had any taste was a soy sauce reduction in the kabobs. Desert was a raspberry tart that had no flavor, with raw pastry in the middle. To add insult to injury, the chef refused to take it off the check once we sent it back after two bites. The service was fine, but this place is incredibly pretentious and stuffy. Avoid at all costs. Also, hilariously overpriced. Even if the food wasn't outrageously terrible, it's also incredibly expensive and tiny portions. read more

I have made several trips to the cozy grape and it was always delightful. This visit will definitely be my last. My friend order the Filet Mignon and asked for it rare. The waiter was very nice. The steak came out and it was over cooked. She politely asked for it to be taken back. The owner of manager then came over with the same steak and told her this is medium rare and refused to remake the steak. She put the steak in front of her and said you will pay for this. My friend didn't eat the steak and was still forced to pay for the meal. I asked the waiter if that woman was the cook he told me no, so how the hell would she know the cook on that steak.
