Not handicap friendly. I would avoid unless you are traveling with a companion. Handicap parking in the lot in the back but you have to go to the front for the handicap entrance. The room doors are extremely heavy and you have to stand up and have some strength so if you are in a wheelchair and can't do that, it tough luck. Room is what you expect. The tv service is limited and didn't have some of my favorite channels. There is a sound machine and clock radio which is great if you don't want to use your phone. Only a shower. You can get limited room service in the morning and afternoon/evening. I hope the group I am with decides to try some place else next year. read more

This was a very nice courtyard. We were in Lansing for one night and chose to stay here. They have a lot of parking in their lot. We got in at like 10 PM. Staff was super friendly with check in and efficient. They offered us a free water and a snack which was nice. The room itself was very clean and nice. The hotel itself seems very new, clean, and up to date with modern fixtures. Great showers. No weird tub situation. Would defintely stay here again and would recommend. read more

Work trip turned pleasantly surprising at the courtyard! Right in the middle of downtown, fresh build, everything clean and updated. The one lowlight was the pillows but I feel like every hotel has crappy pillows so no stars reduced for that one! Book here without questions! read more

I booked a room at this Marriott for one night recently and Nate and I had a great experience. The staff checking us in and out were polite. The parking lot behind the hotel is spacious and was $16 per day with in and out privileges. The hotel is located within walking distance from several bars and restaurants, including a busy bagel shop across the street and the tasty Sidecar Slider Bar that we enjoyed. The Capital City Market next door is a great place to grab some local snacks and beverages to enjoy in your room. Yes, there is a homeless shelter across the street, but we didn't encounter any issues while there. I felt very safe at this hotel and it was super clean and new. The room was large and the amenities were nice - it's rare to see both a mini fridge and a microwave in a hotel these days. The Keurig coffee maker was nice for our morning before heading home - there's also a Starbucks on site but I'm not sure if it was open. Our room was directly across from an elevator, but we had no issues with noise at night. I loved the big shower and the little towel nook was a nice touch that I haven't seen before - allowing you to grab your towel from inside the shower without it getting wet or having to open the shower door. The toiletry items felt luxurious and I enjoyed the subtle scent. Overall we had a five star, quick stay and would stay here again if needed. read more

Stayed here in October 2023. Not sure about all the talk regarding homelessness and sketchy area. There's a great market essentially attached to the hotel that's like a Whole Foods (except no salad bar). Lots of restaurants and only 10 minutes from Michigan state university. The room was immaculate. Brand new everything. Very comfortable bed. There's a mini fridge and microwave in the room. They let me check in at 10am. Overall I had a great stay and experienced no scary situations at anytime outside of the hotel. read more

Food. Check in. Parking. First I'm trying to check in. Park out back because I'm front there was only temp parking and tons of snow with no clear entrance to hotel. The back lot was far from the back door...but worse, the back door required a key which you don't get until checking in, of course. Got back u. The car and parked in the snow in front and checked in. Then parked in back again. Anyway, had a burger because they were out of chicken - the only protein they had on the menu... this, for a Mediterranean Grain Bowl. So I got the burger. I believe it's microwaved and it wasn't even that bad but this is a Marriott. The bartender was very apologetic re the chicken, and he was nice. Move onto morning. No free breakfast but who cares, work is paying for it. Well I got the farm stand breakfast bowl. Barely hot, just like the coffee. Mushy and tasteless too. Bartender who was very nice advised that they had sprinkle cheese instead of fresh parm. They were out of that too. And out of potatoes so they had potato tots instead. What ARENT you out of? The coffee was from a Kurig. Same as I have in the room. Barely hot and after about a minute, just warm. Anyway, I don't blame the staff, they tried. This is an urban hotel, very nice aesthetically, but has a small town feel. Something you'd expect at a Super 8. Check in staff was mediocre. Bartender also advised that there was a buzzer at the back door for those who didn't have a key. I checked again and saw nothing. The place is just weird. I don't get it. It's in a spot where a hotel like this just shouldn't be, IMHO. Edit: I forgot about the side salad that came with the burger. It was dry lettuce from a bag. I don't mi d the bag thing with the lettuce and carrots, etc were dry and whitish. Hopefully not mold but my gut was not happy about it. read more

Mixed feelings about how to properly represent my experience with this property. First off, I will say the rooms are first-rate, well cleaned, it was quiet, and everything you need like plenty of outlets to plug into, a TV and wireless that works, it's all here. If you're just staying in the hotel and not venturing out, it's more like 4-5 stars. It's true what others have observed. It's directly across from a couple of large homeless shelters and so venture out onto the street to the left and you're likely to engage someone, or have to walk around someone sleeping on the sidewalk as I did, even in cold weather. The bus stop had turned into an outdoor smoking break area. Look, homelessness is a huge problem everywhere, I get that, but locating a property here is a business decision I think Marriott should be reconsidering. I didn't experience any discomfort or feel unsafe due to all of this, but can see how others might feel that way. This all said, I passed on whatever they think represents some kind of breakfast here. Near as I can tell them don't even put out a pot of coffee for guests, kind of a mind blowing lack of service. I approached the breakfast/bar area a couple of times and both times experienced other disgruntled people staying there wondering what was going on with that. I opted for the grocery store down at the end of the block for everything else. With plenty of interesting bars and restaurants in the area, can't say I'd recommend this if you'd like to experience those. It is what it is. If you're just need a place to stay, it's great. If you want to venture out, do so knowing you'll experience what others have already observed. read more

Very clean, modern feel. The furniture is well thought out. Lots of charging areas for phones and electronics. Love that there is a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee machine included in the room. Large TV that is able to connect to Netflix or other accounts. Very lovely design throughout the building. Parking is located in the back, and you do have to pay for it.It is next-door to a Meijer capital market. Very nice market with all the conveniences of Meijer. Really interesting bagel place across the street that we didn't get to try, and close by to a big bees coffee. Also nearby is a homeless shelter, so you do need to be vigilant of your surroundings because there are definitely sketchy people in this area. read more

I am a titanium elite member and I had made a reservation for my wife, mother, sister, and niece so they could attend a baby shower in Lansing. After a drive up from Ohio, they tried to check in. The front desk person told them that he could not honor the reservations of the 2 rooms cuz his GM had told him that it was a new policy that if the member is not present then they cannot honor this reservation. I have called around to other Marriott properties and was told that that was not a policy at all. This was a very bad experience and the front desk person even threatened me to cancel the reservation if I did not stop raising my voice. I have spent a lot of time on the road and have never had someone so rude confronting me in this way. I will tell a lot of my colleagues NOT to stay at this place and hope discipline measures are taken. Disappointed read more

The inside of the facility is quite appealing, par with most major metropolitan areas, common and exterior areas, but the big problem is the facility's reaction to noise. When I called the front desk about somebody using unusually loud noise for approximately three hours while I was trying to write, the facility told me that their noise policy is to keep things down around 10 PM. But I think a more reasonable noise policy is to be able to call the front desk to ask people to pipe down around 8 PM. For that reason, I am recommending a significantly lower rating for the facility, despite its recently renovated, and quite attractive, interior renovations. read more

Updated review - there was a small billing discrepancy but this was fixed. Hotel was brand new and clean and fresh. Sorta rough part of town, but hopefully will get better. No platinum member lounge / breakfast (only check-in credit - which is customary at all Marriott hotels) Only took off one star given the fact there is a homeless shelter across the street. As a guy I didn't really feel threatened, but not sure I'd be comfortable as a woman traveling alone to go outside at night. read more

The hotel is nice, fresh and clean but the minute you step outside you are harassed by homeless beggars. Very disappointing! I was booked to stay three nights but changed it to only one night. The staff doesn't seem to really care about anything. I'm a platinum elite member with over 300,000 points. So I know how service should be. This staff clearly misses the mark. read more

Extremely dangerous if you are a woman. Stayed here for business a month after they opened. This is NOT the side of Lansing you want to stay in, there is a homeless shelter is across the street. Bar and restaurants are a walk ans nothing to do in between. Why would Marriott build a property here? No parking lot attached and have to walk a block near a railroad track to get into the building. We walked in one evening and a man is robbing the snack bar and pulling his pants down? No security on-site to make this more concerning. A man followed us in asking for our number. When alerted to the hotel they asked if this man was our guest?????? What. Cannot believe this is a marrriott. Do not stay! read more

We were a little taken aback that we had to pay to park behind the hotel but this place is fantastic. Just opened in February and everything is clean, sleek, and modern. The rooms are so comfortable with little extras like a sound machine. The shower is very large. Great soundproofing. And a stones throw from The nuthouse--which is a very good sports bar and Jackson stadium where you can watch the Lugnuts play. I would highly recommend this place. We had breakfast in the bistro in the lobby and the portions are generous and The food is very fresh. Can't wait to come back. read more

Staff is very rude and unprofessional. Before I booked I called to see if I could add a name to my reservation to check in before I arrived because I was booking two rooms using my AAA discount was informed that I couldn't because they needed to see the proof for the discount only to be able to add the name upon arrival and was never asked to show proof for my discount so I guess anybody can just use the discount. Second was put out for a noise complaint so I went down to talk to front desk and the guy behind the desk caused a scene because I only asked why was I getting put out instead of trying explain he causes a scene and calls the police for what reason I don't understand I never raised my voice or anything just simply asked what happened. I'm assuming he was trying to play big boss, stated that I was refusing to leave when I didn't care about leaving I was trying to find out why. The hotel is right across from the homeless shelter so not the ideal property so I was glad to leave. You couldn't pay me to stay here again very rude and unprofessional read more
