This time, the company told me they had never been asked for a COI by a client before, and shortly after, they cancelled my appointment, saying they felt I was "setting them up." I was surprised by this reaction, as reputable service providers typically have liability insurance and can provide proof without issue. Because they refused to provide a COI and cancelled my booking, I cannot speak to the quality of their current work. However, I would caution other homeowners that if you want to ensure a vendor is insured, this may not be the right company for you.

Before booking, I spoke at length with the owner, Christopher, about my safety concerns given the amount of sheetrock dust throughout the home, and I specifically requested that "all surfaces" be cleaned. He was warm and reassuring on the phone, quoted me $800, and I felt confident enough to skip getting a second bid -- a mistake I now regret. On the day of service, his wife and the cleaning crew arrived in a Mercedes SUV without proper safety equipment for a site with probable asbestos contamination. She then had to leave pre-job to purchase N95 masks and HEPA filters for their vacuums, and it was clear she hadn't been briefed on the home's history. Christopher arrived later to walk me through the work. When I pointed out an area that had been missed, he had the crew clean it, and he personally re-cleaned a sink that still showed paint markings and countertops still coated in texture spray overspray. The next day, once I could inspect more thoroughly, I found the window sills filthy and the tops of the kitchen cabinets still covered in dust. Christopher agreed to send the crew back to re-clean and blamed the lapses on having too many crew members and unclear task assignments. Ten days later, when I finally moved in, I pulled the refrigerator out to plug it in and found dirt and dust underneath and on the back half of the unit's top -- the front half had been wiped clean, but not the back. Behind the lowest pull-out cabinet, I found a thick layer of fine sheetrock dust that had clearly never been touched. I cleaned all of this myself and sent Christopher photos, reminding him I'd paid a premium price for what was supposed to be a thorough, premium clean given the known contamination. His response was to list everything his crew had done, blame the carpet installers for the dust (which doesn't hold up -- the dust was only found in the untouched area below the pull-out, not on the pull-out itself, which the carpet crew would have equally affected), and suggest that if I'd been more polite when reporting the problem, he'd have come back again. He ultimately refused any refund. For $800, I expected a crew equipped and briefed to handle a known asbestos-adjacent job, and a genuinely thorough clean of every surface I was told would be covered. Instead I got missed hazardous dust in multiple spots, a defensive response when I raised it, and no accountability. I called and made an appt with Sisley to come and give me a quote. When she came, I told her, I wanted someone to clean our house because we didn't have time nor the bandwidth. We went through the house and she told me they would clean all appliances, furniture, bathrooms, including spiderwebs, vacuum, etc...I then advised, I was very picky and that my mother taught me to clean very thorough, being that this was my mother's first job in the US. Sisley assured that it would all be cleaned. The day of the cleaning came, two housecleaners were sent, they arrived at 1pm / left at 3pm (2hrs.) When I got home, I started inspecting, and here are my observations: ** the living room looked good, however the area rug had not been vacuumed ** the hardwood floors, were cleaned ** the kitchen (which is my pet peeve when not cleaned appropriately) - all counters were sticky and smeared; stove was not clean as there were oil spots not cleaned; the microwave and refrigerator are stainless steel and they were smeared; the spiderwebs that were discussed and promised removal, were still there; the area rug under the kitchen table had not been vacuumed ** guest bathroom - done great ** master bathroom - done great ** master bedroom furniture - not cleaned at all, TV stand was full of dust; perfume tray full of dust; all frames full of dust both in bedrooms, and hallway I was very upset and called Sisley to provide my feedback. She offered for the girls to come back, BUT I didn't want them to come back! I don't believe it's my responsibility to provide a check-list of what they missed the first time, when it should have been done since the beginning. A day later, I called Sisley, and told her that I thought I shouldn't pay the full amount since they had not cleaned the house as it was agreed when we first met. Sisley answered that she couldn't return the money because the girls had spent 2hrs cleaning the house (I don't know what they did, because the house was not cleaned as discussed), again she offered for them to come back. But I just left it, since I knew I was not going to win and that I was NOT going to allow them to come back to CLEAN what was NOT cleaned the first time. I'm very disappointed because what was agreed upon was not cleaned and paid full price for it. If I'm going to pay someone for a job, I expect it to be done appropriately and well.
