I went in for a regular pedicure and received much more than I thought I would get for $28. It included a soak, a scrub, hot stone massage, hand massage on calves and feet, and then the pedicure and polish. There's been other reviews about the lack of talking or friendliness, but honestly although the person who did my nails was quiet she was really friendly when we did speak. Had a shellac manicure on Monday, went back on Thursday with two nails missing shellac. They redid those nails, no problem. Went back Friday with another nail missing shellac. Asked that they redo the rest of the unrepaired nails so I wouldn't have to keep coming back. The assured me they would be fine by just roughing them up and adding topcoat. Woke up Saturday with another naked nail. That was my first and last experience with CP Nails. I don't have time for this. I won't be back. read more

Awesome experience!!! I had never gotten a wax before, so I went in to CK Nails to ask about it. The wax lady is also the owner named Camilla and she was so helpful and reassuring. I went in for a Brazilian wax and she did a perfect job, and was very easy to talk to and knowledgeable. I will agree with the last post from Jess: she was "quick, methodical, and VERY thorough." Not a very sanitary place, the man (I believe the owner) uses the same towel for all his customers, and only cleans off the desk with a used brush. Yuck. Manicure is just SO, SO. Never once does anything to your cuticles, and doesn't seem to want to be bothered, a total lack of interest in his work!!! Had a pedicure with a different guy, and could have done better myself. CK Nails did NOT do a good job (ESPECIALLY for the price). My boyfriend and I went there to relax and treat ourselves. We both got mani and pedi's. First, because my boyfriend is a guy and didnt know much about the stuff, they skipped A LOT of steps just because he wouldn't notice. They didn't use a top coat or even put him under the drier. I did NOT appreciate that...considering he paid just as much as I did. I got an acrylic french mani and they shaped my nails all wrong. The lady also made my white tip like HALF of my nail which was very unflattering. At the end, they charged us more than what their sign said. The guy gave me a total without telling me where the total came from. I asked how much he charged for each thing and noticed it was more than their signs in store. I pointed that out and they tried telling me their signs weren't updated. I had to argue how that is wrong and only then did I pay a whopping total of $100 after tips. In the end, save your money and go someplace else. If you do go, make sure they charge you right and get everything you pay for. read more

This is my favorite nail salon ! I travel all over the state and I always make sure I get to CK nails every two to three weeks for nail service. Kevin and Camilla are excellent owners. Great quality of work and a clean shop. I've had beautiful eyelash extensions here and Camilla also does great facials, my fills are flawless. i dont care for any of the fancy nail art... i just like simple plain nail polish. With six years of experience, Camilla was awesome (there are 2 waxers here and she's the only one doing Brazilians). You don't get a spa-like experience with music and candles and high end products, but you do get a fast, thorough, affordable wax. She also uses clean technique All The Time-- no double dipping even once! She is not super chatty, but once engaged she will talk with you. I will certainly be coming back! I had an amazing Brazilian wax experience here! I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and got an ill ointment right away, when every other wax place was completely booked. My Waxlady was Camilla and she was efficient and professional and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. The first thing she did was turn on a heater in the room because she felt it was cold, and put on relaxing classical music. She was extremely thorough, having me use my own hand to hold the skin taut and going through with a pair of tweezers at the end to grab all of the little missed hairs. I have only gotten one Brazilian wax before at the Wax Loft on South University in Ann Arbor, and I would definitely rate CK's Brazilian as better in many ways: the thoroughness that I mentioned earlier, the price (CK's Brazilian wax is $50 while the Wax Loft's is $65. I even got a 10% discount for being a student and a $5 off coupon for my next visit!), and the friendlier and more comfortable atmosphere. One difference I did notice: my skin seemed to be more sensitive for longer after the wax at CK as compared to my first at the Wax Loft. I'm not sure if this had to do with the technique or products necessarily, but I feel it is worth mentioning. I would definitely recommend this place for a wax! read more

I went here under the old ownership. I didn't have time to keep up on my nails, so I took a year off. I just finished my second visit back earlier this seek with the new ownership and they are amazing. They remembered me from my first visit and asked about my vacation. Both manicures (new set and fill) turned out great. They made sure both times the length and shape were what I wanted before going on. Nothing felt rushed like I've experienced at other salons. They care about your nails. I had a pedicure at the first appointment and was impressed at the factory sealed disposable pedicure kits they use on each person. They also put disposable covers inside the bowl. I like that it was clean and the same pumice stone or file was used on someone else. I am looking forward to my next visit. read more

Used to be great but they must've got new owners. My mom and I had to wait here for 20 minutes and were told not put our feet in the soaking tub (for a pedicure). We just sat in the chairs waiting with absolutely no explanation as to why we couldn't soak our feet. My mom put her feet in the water eventually and she was scolded right away, also the water was cold. The employees were also in the back room eating and paying no attention to us except to scold my mom. We will not be returning here. read more

This place is ALWAYS very clean. I have been going to "Kevin" for about 3 yrs now and he does a fantastic job putting on and upkeeping my nails. He pays attention to detail and he and his wife are very polite. They both work very hard to please everyone. Once in a while they may take on too many customers at once but usually I get in and out pretty quickly. I do highly recommend them to others and the people I have sent have also been very satisfied. I am new to Ann Arbor and have tried 2 nail salons so far, neither of which I will return to, but CK Nails & Spa was the worst . I have gel nails and the gentleman drilling my nails was extremely rough, drilling my cuticles raw and making me wince in pain. Not once did he ask if I was ok, and when his associate saw my facial expressions, she started talking to him in Vietnamese and he continued butchering my cuticles, which are now trying to grow back, but they are basically growing back as hang nails. My pedicure was done by a lady who spoke very little English so I couldn't communicate with her that she was hurting me. I've been getting manis and pedis for years and have had some bad experiences along the way, but both my mani and pedi at CK Nails was awful. I will not return. read more

Went here for a full set acrylics, a fill, and a removal over the course of a few weeks. Weird uncomfortable place, the nail techs, whoever you get, don't really talk to you. They seem to be rushing even when they aren't busy and if they are busy you can be sure you'll have to ask for exactly what you want every step of the way because they are trying to just get you out of there as quick as possible. Appointment schedules aren't really followed if they have walk ins. They dont seem to clean their brushes or buffers or anything at all in between clients which made me really nervous as acrylics are tough enough to maintain without worrying about trapped germs too. I just went to get my acrylics removed and was planning on getting a new full set because the prices are so cheap I was thinking I could deal with the weird service but the guy tech who was doing it was so rude to me and tried to convince me to literally let him just rip off my acrylics (no acetone, no soaking, no nothing!), and got ticked at me when I said I wanted the full removal process, I just said forget it and left after the acrylics were off. Definitely will not be returning. You get what you pay for I guess and this service was NOT worth the savings! read more

I've been here a few times and will sadly not be returning. If you're looking for a basic mani or pedi, I think you'd be fine. Or if you have 1 person you always see, stick with them. I've gone for a shellac pedicure a handful of times now, and each time it is a process. The communication can also be a bit difficult. The last time I went it took them about 1/2 hour to remove the shellac from my nails, it typically takes 5 minutes at my usual place. The person doing my nails also accidentally cut the skin above my nail, which was painful anytime water or chemicals would contact it. It seems that only a few people there know how to do shellac, because each time I've gone, one person will start and another person will take over. This last time I was there for 1 1/2 hours just for a shellac pedicure!!! The chairs are so worn that my back and butt were killing me by the time I left. I also noticed that there were some bubbles under the polish and some polish on my skin. This was anything from a relaxing experience. But I gave them 1 star because they tried. read more
