Gabriel got back to us the same day with a quote after we sent him photos of the steps. He was very responsive and made three trips out to deal with the project. The first was to take detailed measurements of our stairs. The second was a fit up of the uncoated railing where he took final dimensions and cored the mounting holes and the third was to actually install the rails after powder coating. We are very happy both with the product and Gabriel's responsiveness and professionalism. We would use him again although the raisl will probably last for decades.

He kept me apprised along the way when he was almost done with iron working the bannister and asked if we wanted powder coating (slightly extra cost) which we did opt in for. The day of install was fast - Gabriel did the install and there was no dust or particles left on our floor after he was done drilling to the ground. One quoted an outrageous price, two quoted half the figure, and two promised to come out for a quote and never showed up. All had a number of poor reviews of their work on line. I held off getting the work done. This spring I contacted Pro Coat. Dave Marion quoted a fair price for the job, and warned me that he couldn't guarantee the old botched finish could be completely removed. He said his crew would test a small area and only if they could satisfactorily clean it, would they do my entire deck. His men arrived within the time frame Dave had estimated, the test cleaning worked perfectly, and within the day my deck was stripped, brightened and looking like new. A few days later Pro Coat was back and the deck was stained in an afternoon. Great care was taken to cover the side of the house next to the deck so no over-spray could get on the siding or brickwork. The yard was left immaculately clean. Alfredo did a great job of evenly and thoroughly applying the new stain to the inside and outside of the deck, despite the surrounding hedge making it difficult. My deck now looks like new, and the results were far better than I thought could possibly be achieved. Any future work I need will be done by Pro Coat, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend their services to anyone.

But I don't know how to use a drill, and even if I did I would have wanted these things done correctly since my baby's safety is of utmost importance. Arvey came by the house for a free consultation and went through all the rooms to evaluate and give his recommendations for how to make each room safer for her. I also showed him a particular concern I had about anchoring a shelving unit to a brick wall and he said it was no problem. Arvey doesn't pressure you into making any of the improvements he suggests. Two of his employees came out within a week and took care of almost all the items we'd decided on. We got door locking mechanisms for the top of the door frame to make sure she stays out of places she shouldn't be and also stays in her room overnight. There's a new retractable gate blocking the kitchen which locks and which she's not able to crawl beneath. I really love this new gate; it's the type I originally wanted but handyman said it wouldn't work so the prior gate was a bit of a trip hazard and also took up more space. The refrigerator lock is much better than the one I bought, which broke within a day. And the cabinet locks and anchors for dressers and shelves make me feel much better about her level of safety. There's a few things left for them to do, since the materials for the gate around the fireplace are still stuck on the ocean. I'm also going to have them add a few more cabinet locks because they're superior to having to use the magnet locks or door clips, which is what we currently have. They're reasonably priced, no price gouging here. They even discovered that our outlets didn't need outlet covers because the outlets have some sort of feature where the electricity will stop if something's stuck inside, and for the number of outlet covers that we'd have otherwise needed that saved at least $100. I love dealing with a company that leads with integrity. If you have any doubts about your ability to child proof your home, want to make sure things are expertly installed, and/or want to use the most effective products (which you can't always get on Amazon or whatever), it's worth a call to Arvey to come out and take a look.
