Came here earlier today with my mom and home girl. We ordered two pounds of shrimp and a pound of crawfish. The server was nice but to get her attention was quiet tough it seemed like she was the only server attaining other tables and being cashier as we'll. We needed a few things and it took a long time to grab her towards our table. The sauce tasted bland like stated by some other fellow yelpers here. The shrimp itself didn't have that fresh taste to it. Tasted like it's been in the freezer for hecka long and dropped in the pot with the sauce and wasn't marinated very well. Sauce was too sweet for me. Maybe I'm too much of a boiling crab fan? That my taste buds wants less of that sweetness and more of the Cajun flavor. Crawfish was mediocre sauce wasn't that bad. Unlike the sauce we had on the shrimp it was more like water mixed with sugar if anything. Overall experience was so and so.. Quality of the food something I don't think id come back for, and I've done tried most of the crawfish broil in the Bay from boiling crab San Jose and Sac, rockin crawfish in Oakland, claws and craws Hercules, red crawfish in SF, and craw daddy in San Jo. I'm sorry to say this location is at the bottom of my list. read more

New restaurant and great ambiance. Similar to the Oakland location but bigger. We got a table right away on opening day. They have a few kinks to work out, mostly growing pains. The kitchen got backed up pretty quickly and before long people were asking the waiters about how much longer they would have to wait for their food. It was mostly the fried goods that took the longest. One of our orders of a chicken Po'Boy sandwich took almost 45 minutes to come out. Our pound of crawfish ($13.99/lbs Market Value) and shrimp ($13.99/lbs Market Value) was pretty good. The staff is super nice. If you love Boiling Crab or Cajun Food you should definitely give this place a try. The atmosphere is great, the staff is great, and more importantly the food is great. Currently they take reservations I'm not sure if they still will in the future so if you're headed there make a reservation and skip the hour to two hour wait. Whichever food you order, make make sure you get your food with the Rockin Combo sauce. I recommend getting the shrimp and corn in the bag and also order garlic noodles. In terms of the shrimp you can get the shrimp with or without heads. For seafood items in the bag you must order at least 1 pound they don't do any half pound orders. For Cajun food in the East Bay it's hard to beat this place! read more

5 of us came here tonight for a friends 32nd birthday dinner. First of all, they had no crawfish. Rocking crawfish with no crawfish....okay? Came here last Tuesday Night with my brother in law. For being tucked away in the farthest corner (and around one) in the shopping center off Willow Pass Rd, and it being a week night, the place had quite a few people. A good sign! Crawfish was excellent. They were actually bigger in size and had more meat than the ones I'd eaten at Boiling Crab the week before. Also enjoyed the fried calamari, and a Stella Artoise beer to top it off. Our server, Sierra, was also excellent. Very friendly and courteous. We would definitely come here again. From the first visit to the second saw an upgrade from two to three stars. Service is adequate, because of the nature of the food and environment all the servers really need to do is keep the drinks full and keep a bunch of napkins handy. You start with crawfish, shrimp, or the crustacean of your choice, made spicy or not spicy. Adding potatoes, corn and sausage rounds out the meal, but the corn didn't taste completely cooked, like it was tossed in the bag right before serving, and the sausages were overcooked. Cutting up the potatoes would help them taste a bit better. But it's still early and I'm sure they will get it together, perhaps asking for an item on the side is a good idea, especially if it's something you don't want spicy. The garlic noodles with shrimp were tasty, and for a quick lunch option so is the fried catfish po'boy. When the check comes, they give you a little wrapped handi-wipe. One. That's it. You're going to need more than that to clean off that sauce that is good, but sticks to you like glue. read more

Hey man, I thought this place was good. If I closed my eyes, I would think I was eating at boiling crab. But then again, I haven't had boiling crab in awhile either. The sauce was good, i got the one mixed with everything- kinda like the whole sha bang from boiling crab. Cajun fries, calamari, and garlic fries were on fleek. Corona taste like corona. Sounds like everyone is hating on the service though. I had a pleasant time. I did come in around 2 pm during the weekend. And, there wasn't a lot of other people there. Plain and simple: The ORIGINAL Rockin Crawfish in East Oakland is worth the long drive, the time to find parking, and the wait for a table. Reviewers on here say that their meal wasn't spicy enough, well unfortunately the chefs decided to make my order as well as my girlfriend's order TOO spicy. I'm not one to handle much spice so I'd always order the mild while my girlfriend orders the spicy. First: our server, Alicia, was awesome. She recommended awesome choices. Food was good too. It's easy to make fried food too greasy but ours was perfect. We had 1lb of King Crab legs and fried shrimp, garlic noodles and Cajun fries. The place is prepared: lots of napkins, bibs and paper table cloths. Good music the entire time too! My little kiddos were able to be a bit louder without attracting lots of stares. Best part: deep fried Oreos! Must order! Minus 1 star because the hallway to the bathroom is a little messy. Born in Louisiana craw dads are a constant in my diet. I love them. I came here skeptical how could this be a craw dad place this close? I ordered a feast 3 lbs of craw dads 1 lbs of shrimp 12 corn on the cobs and 36 pieces of sausage 6 potatoes and garlic noodles. The craw dads were tiny not much meet the flavor of the sides were great but unfortunately the craw dads were a bust. On the other hand the service was great and to a person like my wife who has never had the real deal these aren't bad so I do recommend this place just wish they would order bigger craw dads and from Louisiana rather than Texas big difference. read more

I've been a fan of these Cajun seafood joints for years and try all of them whenever I can. Been to Boiling Crab, 938, Firehouse, Ray's, Bucket o'Crawfish a number of times and I have my favorites. We used to come to the Chinese restaurant that this replaced sometimes, and was very excited when I saw they were coming to Concord. When you first walk in, you notice the place was done very well. Lots of details in the decoration and seating. The area is rather large and the picnic benches are a nice touch. It feels like they could have maximized the space just a bit better by adding a few more tables. They have two huge TV's in the front bar/waiting area and both the Giants and A's games were on. There were a few smaller ones in the back as well. Go Giants! Food: One pound of headless shrimp rockin combo flavor and spicy. Some say the sauce was watery, but it was not tonight. The flavor was on point with the right amount of spices, butter and other goodness. When they say spicy they mean it. Garlic noodles were perfectly cooked - not oily and not dry with a great flavor. Nice complement to the shrimp! Calamari - a HUGE serving of a mix of rings and legs which had a nice seasoning. It was enough to feed five or six people and they could have been fried just a tad bit longer. Rice. Check. Deep fried Oreos with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and thinly sliced strawberries. Amazing and a must try! Trumer Pils on tap. Yes. You can eat on the butcher paper as these places are known for, but they offered plates and trays or bowls to keep things not too messy. The owner, Jenny, came over and spent some time with us making sure everything was going well - a nice touch. Her son's name is Dylan and he was also extremely helpful and polite. Went to RC 08.12.15 for the first time. Place was super clean and plenty of friendly staff to greet, seat, and promptly take our orders. Yes. Orders. Since this place is new we had try a few things to have a fair opinion. First, we tried the calimari AND the garlic noodles. Noodles were aldente and I would have appreciated more garlic, but mangia! Calimari was excellent. Spiced just right and very tasty. Next came the sweet potato fries. Hot and crispy, yet tender. Dipped in pink sauce and Ranch...Just delish. Next came the wings. We are very picky about wings and we thought these were pretty darn good. Nice size - I'll go as far as to say "beefy". Spice was good and they were fried just right. Last, but not least, was the Oyster Po' Boy with pink sauce and spicy waffle fries. Fries were spiced well and were a perfect bite size. I meant to order the "volcano" level spice but these had great flavor anyway. Next time. The oysters in the sandwich were very tasty and I really liked the bread, too. A simply delicious and hot sandwich served with tomato, pickle, and large, succulent, fried oysters which was actually a meal big enough to share. Overall, we had a great experience. Food was stellar, service was efficient, staff was accommodating, and the prices were reasonable. Will definitely return. I do think the menu should have a sample platter with the wings, oysters, fish and/or shrimp, and waffle fries. That would be ideal! All the food needs to be tasted! And, since the place is in an odd location of the mall with not a lot of foot traffic, I think there should be more signage for direction - perhaps a folding stand-alone sign on the sidewalk? And maybe advertising mailers, like Valupak? Just a thought. read more

The chicken wings are same way, frozen as well, the wings on gas station or 7eleven are way better than here ... Only 1 thing fresh is dungeness crab !! The price is pricey, no cheap. It's 1:58 AM and I spent about an hour in the bathroom throwing up and having diarrhea due to the oysters I ate. I know it's from this place because I only had a peach to eat today and was saving my hunger for this place but now I'm not too sure I'll be back. Perhaps it was too much fried food I had the fried catfish and french fries with fried oysters. everything tasted wonderful my boyfriend had the chicken wings and the calamari. The restaurant reminds you of the backyard bayou in Union City. I think the manager or The owner came out and greeted us and give us some suggestions to order he was really nice and I think this will be the only reason why I come back to give this place another try. I'm a big believer in customer service so I appreciate him coming out and seeing if we were OK. The restaurant seems to be very popular. A couple of groups came in with takeout orders while others came in to have a nice time and eat and watch the game. I say try it out I don't think you will be disappointed perhaps my stomach just didn't agree with the oysters. read more

Let me tell you that if you haven't tried this place yet, then you aren't living. Right when you walk in the door, you are greeted by friendly faces and BOMB music. We never had to wait on anything. There were other servers that even came around to make sure we were OK. The food is probably the best I've had in a long time. I mean everything I ordered was finger licking good. The food is so good!! Okay...my chili cheese fries were a little bland. But i'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt because it was extremely busy. The popcorn chicken & shrimp was so delicious! If you like spicy food, get the spiciest one. You can thank me later. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, and quick. Yeah just came from this place and let me tell you, there was literally no type of flavoring to their sauce. They sat us next to a water leak coming from the wall in which bugs were flying out of. The garlic noodles were good I will say, but were overshadowed by the lack of seasoning on the shrimp. We even sent the food back to get seasoning and it was still bland. I want to give this place a better rating because I love shellfish, but I was really disappointed! First pick what you want in your boil (shrimp crab ect). Then pick your seasonings (lemon pepper, garlic butter, or rockin combo). Lastly, pick your spice level (original, mild, medium, spicy, or volcano). Got 2 lbs of shrimp; both with the rockin combo but ordered one SPICY and one ORIGINAL. The original one really didn't have much flavor to me for a "rockin combo," and the spicy one was SO spicy that I couldn't taste anything. And I love spicy food. For being so detailed about the heat level, they really should learn what each one means. Furthermore, the shrimp were mushy and the potatoes I added were underdone in both boils. We decided to try this place because I saw a Facebook post from another friends page. $1 oysters on Tuesday and Wednesday. 3 different types. One Canadian oyster, one from Baja Mexico. We chose the oysters from Humbolt County. They were fresh and tasted great! Very small in size but that's ok for a buck. Sauces served on the side were a cocktail sauce, a vinaigrette, and another sauce which only came with one plate. (Why didn't it come with all plates? Cuz it was the best) We also had an order of fried oysters! Done perfectly! Yum!! We did two different boils. One with crawfish and shrimp. Added corn and sausage! Yum!! The other was clams and crawfish. Done just right too! We chose the medium spice. I could have gone up a spice, but I like spicy, so that's on me. Sadly they need to provide some sort of bread to sop up the juice! It was that good! But went to waste since there was nothing to mop it up with! Service was slow. Staff was friendly and she knew the answers to questions we had. just couldn't figure out how it takes 45 mins to shuck a few oysters. If your offering 1$ oysters, you could make a ton of $ if they were coming out faster. Maybe you need a person just to shuck em!! Almost seemed like they were holding off so we couldn't order anymore til we got the ones we ordered. Strange. Also if you post on FB you have $1 oysters all day, you should give them all day. I got home, the container of sauce was dumped all over the calamari... I called to complain...the lady that answered the phone... said it must of been a new employee, but I saw it was someone on supervisor level, as she packed my food and was telling everyone what to do.we dont put the sauce inside the calamari box, deeply sorry that happen.... that was the best she can say??? I really like this place compared to the one in Oakland and San Pablo. This is probably the best Rocking Crawfish location. I usually order the garlic butter shrimp with medium heat, and garlic noodles with extra lime on the side. The chef does an extremely well job in the kitchen, shout out to the squad. They also have a really good taste in music if you're into hip hop/rap. Great service, great place. read more

You really have to know what you like to order, or else you'll get a lot of uneaten food. Tonight was pretty busy, and like what everyone has said, this location is new. There was a wait, but it wasn't terrible. If you want fast food, McDonald's is next door. No particular server is committed to a section of tables, so feel free to tell any staff member what you want/need, they are pretty helpful. Is it fresh or frozen? I have no idea. My boyfriend and I decided to give this place a try since we normally go to the one in oakland. This place is a shame to be affiliated with the one in oakland. We got seated right away, the wait staff was pretty friendly. We ordered 1 lb. Of crawfish and 1lb. Of clams with rockin' combo sauce and rice. We waited about 20 minutes for the food to come and when we got it everything seemed fine. However, when we started eating our clams we realized that the clams were no where near hot, they were lukewarm at best and some clams were refrigerator cold. The only thing that was hot was the sauce. We continued with the crawfish, and it was the same story. Cold, and overcooked, we alerted our waitress who offered to reheat the food. Come on? Are you kidding me?! That would overcook it even more. We refused and spoke to the manager who remade our clams. We solemnly ate our food, and left unsatisfied. This place could have potential if they would just serve hot food as far as sauces go the flavor is great. read more
