Been here many times when in town on business. This time was my best experience by far, and one of my better ones in any Cracker Barrel. I was seated quickly and my food was the standard you'd expect. Hot fresh and home cooked flavor. The reason for the 5 star review? All of the above, but my server Morgan did an amazing job. Stopped in on a Thursday around 1:00 PM and was seated right away. Initial service was fine, but it took nearly 30 minutes for our food to arrive despite a fairly simple order: NY strip steak, chicken strips and fries, grilled chicken salad, and chicken and dumplings. Unfortunately, the food arrived cold. To make matters worse, there was a hair in both the salad and the steak. We would have sent the meals back, but our server never returned to check on us after the food was delivered. The men's restroom was also in rough shape--no paper towels available and trash overflowing onto the floor. As for the food itself, the steak was tough and disappointing. The chicken strips, fries, and grilled chicken salad were the bright spots and were actually quite good. Overall, between the cleanliness issues, food quality concerns, and lack of service follow-up, I'd recommend skipping this one. It simply doesn't represent itself well. read more

Neveah went above and beyond even on this busy Mother's Day! We had been left waiting for a bit at the beginning but once we let them know, she was on it, she brought us everything quickly and did it with kind service. She and the manager came out and also offered us free appetizers and desserts. Oh my goodness!!! Best EVER. My waitress Nelly was quick to greet me, and kept checking up on me! Had I had a coffee seated, I'm sure I would have NEVER seen the bottom of the cup! I got my food (very quickly). I started with the pancakes, so sorry for the bites... But THEN, I cut into an egg. I've always orders them over medium, but since I always get snot-runny yikes and half the rime whites, last restaurant I gave up and ordered over well. Today, I bravely ordered over medium, fully expecting my runny usual.....But NO!!! They were absolutely PERFECT! Thick slow running yoke, whites cooked perfectly without ANY brown even the edges. (For any who don't know, ANY brown means improperly cooked. For years, I thought it was normal. The CHEF'S name is George. Nelly had to go back and ask because I guess he is kind of new. I would love to know his experience. And no, I did not call him a cook here. I even have problems trying to cook them at home. The food was absolutely delicious! The portions were big enough to need boxes for leftovers and everything was cooked exactly how we expected. Our waitress came over a decent amount of times and checked to see if we were doing well and refilled our drinks, even made a little small talk which is always nice. The feel of the restaurant was cozy and clean with a country comfort to it that we all enjoy for the most part. The gift shop is clean and has a wide selection, however it did feel a little cluttered maybe it was just the smaller space but overall all everyone was nice and we really enjoyed our visit. I used to love Cracker Barrel, but our breakfast yesterday was beyond disgusting! I had to send my order back do to it being so hard that I could not even eat it! Cracker Barrel isn't that extraordinary. It's a highway exit kind of fast casual joint that one has to navigate a store of kitsch and knickknacks to get to the dining room. But if you happen to be rolling down 75 at highway speeds and you happen to check if they have their holiday special of Country Fried Turkey - and get lucky in that the special IS available- well, it's worth a detour. The turkey is delicious. With a batter that echoes the Colonel's orignal 11 herbs and spices. It comes with two sides - I almost always get their hashbrown casserole and fried apples. It also had some cranberry relish (a little underwhelming with only 2-3 spoonfuls, but tasty nonetheless). Finally, there's the choice of biscuits or corn muffins. I chose muffins and they didn't disappoint. I did notice their menu lacked Uncle Herschel's Favorite - which is a all day breakfast dish that features Country ham, which itself is hard to come by up north. That's my other goto when the turkey special isn't available. In and out quickly for about $15, it was what I needed. No pics of the food, I wolfed it down to quickly. Terrible service. Waited 15 minutes before someone took our drink order. Waited at least 45 minutes for our meal. The restaurant was not even that busy. This is on a Thursday at 7:30pm. I feel like this is an issue across the board with Cracker Barrel's either they are seriously understaffed or they need better management and training. Cracker Barrel used to be our go to when on the road and I was never disappointed. Seems like things are going downhill with them anymore. In the past year, I've been to 3 different locations from all over the place and all of them were terrible. This one had to be the worst. To be fair, we arrived about 15 minutes before closing. But I wasn't expecting a gourmet meal, just plain 'ol chicken and dumplings with mashed potatoes and pinto beans. Ordered delivery through GrubHub The biscuits were missing, and I ordered it for the biscuits, everything was cold even though it got delivered early, and when it got here the bag smelled like cigarette smoke. CB has lost a step somewhere and is going downhill fast. Never again. Avoid delivery, at least, but I do not recommend. read more

Only been 3 days since my second attempt, so too soon to know if that did any good. I've never been to a Cracker Barrel that opened at 7AM. I feel like all of CBS down south open before sunrise. This place opened at 7AM on the dot. I went with my boss for whatever that's worth. After we were sat, our drinks were brought pretty quickly. Our orders were taken promptly as well. The service was great. The food was par for a Cracker Barrel. I ordered the Old Timer's Breakfast over easy, with sausage and hash brown casserole. The eggs were a little over done but that's that a big deal. I've had hash brown casserole that were eat too salty or over cooked. These were pretty good. The grits were good, not too runny. The biscuits were a little bland. read more

Im a quadriplegic in a wheelchair, last Tuesday we stopped cracker barrel in Bay City to eat and my wheelchair would not fit under their tables. When I ask if they had a handicap accessible table the hostess told me NO. At that point we left the restaurant. I just had to stop in Cracker Barrel during my trip to visit my family. Actually, I made a special trip to Cracker Barrel en route to the airport. LOL! The storefront porch was alive with young and old enjoying the rocking chairs or engaging in larger-than-life games of checkers. The country store was crazy cowled, but everyone was polite and considerate when we inevitably bumped into each other. You know the food was typical Cracker Barrel and it was good but the service was the worst ever!! Our waitress only checked on us to give us the bill and I had to go up to get my own hot sauce. She saw me and handed me the hot sauce and still didn't come by the table to see if we were okay. Also, I am an omelette person and they don't serve omelettes so I wouldn't go there for breakfast again. I got the good morning breakfast which consisted of egg whites scrambled, turkey sausage and cheese grits while my friend got the old-timers special over easy. They gave us barely lukewarm coffee, dried out pinto beans that were so disgusting, i would have never served them to anyone, and the lemon grilled fish was so Full of bones, it was inedible. I had never ate here beings that its just not my type of food... The store was so very cute though! I ordered the cracker barrel sampler..a piece of ham, a piece of meatloaf and a little chicken and dumplings...it was ok.meatloaf was good and that's saying a lot because I don't like meatloaf. I enjoyed the coffee and the side salad. My husband got the 16 oz steak well done and I hate to say it had no flavor, worse steak ever. Maybe because it was well done I don't know...we really enjoyed playing a game of checkers outside at the end of our meal! We had the worst service, especially from the manager Jackie. My food took well over an hour to make it to my table and when Jackie came to my table, I was honestly looking for an apology and explanation of why it had taken that long. She barged over and was a bit hostile saying that she "will not serve food that has fallen on the floor". I'm not sure if this is what caused the delay in my order but I was a bit nervous to say anything more to Jackie because she was not acting as a manager or server I would ever want to deal with. Used to work here in the retail store, it's a really tough job (being happy all the time while trying to manage tons of people at a time)! Much of the staff excel in customer service and will always be attentive and helpful. It does get extremely busy at this location and jam packed especially on holidays. I LOVE CRACKER BARREL!! I travel across the US all the time and will actually drive out of my way to eat at a CB. Thankfully I didn't have to do that on this stop. As we walked through the doors we walked through the "General Store" and I always get that good feeling that I'm about to get a good meal. I always order the same thing. Always! biscuits & gravy. The waitress took our order and in a short time we had our food. Everything was as we expected and the flavors were classic CB. Always good! I will continue to search out CB because they serve good food that is reasonably priced, and it's that way no matter what state your in. read more

I never ate here before or even stopped in to the store. My mom picked this place to eat for Mother's Day, and of course it was jam packed. The service was pretty fast, so that was nice. We had a party of 9, and they took pretty good care of us. I had the country meal that had the 2 battered and deep fried chicken breast with mashed potatoes and dumplings. All of it was fantastic. Being a server, I try not to be too judgmental because I get things happen but on Saturday morning (7/7), I was sat down at a small table by a host, it took at least 5-10 minutes for my server to get to me. By then I was ready to order and all I wanted to drink was a water. She took my order and never brought my water. 10-15 minutes later she's making her rounds and I ask for my water again. I then got it right away. But It took at least another 10-15 minutes to get my breakfast. My food was okay, ordered my eggs Over Medium and they came out almost hard. Other than that no complaints with the food. I typically love Cracker Barrel but I was really disappointed with this past visit. The food quality is just as good if not better than any other average diner but it feels very touristy and fun. I enjoy going here Sunday morning with family after church. Ate here with family and everyone enjoyed their experience. The service was very fast. The parking lot was packed but we got right in and had our food in what seemed like just minutes. The service was average, everyone was friendly but nobody went above and beyond. The Open Faced Roast Beef was good, the meat was very tasty but a little on the dry side. This is understandable since the plate is covered in gravy but I would have preferred a little more texture on the plate. I could go either way on the retail store, but it is slightly awkward that you have to pay for your meal at the register instead of the table. We almost forgot to tip as a result.
