I usually just use Cracker Barrel as a restroom stop on long road trips, but we decided to stay and eat breakfast, too. I probably should have just used the restroom at this one and got breakfast somewhere else. Our breakfast was a bit of a letdown: the biscuits were small and crunchy, the bacon tasted like warm beef jerky, and the coffee was very bitter. Cracker Barrel usually has great coffee, so this one got to me the most. The other parts of Cracker Barrel are good, though: the gift shop is always full of fun things, there's a checker board in the store that you can play, the people are nice and friendly. read more

I didnt care for the smokehouse chicken but the mac n cheese was good. They served the food with no silverware, and we had to wait. Then, they brought katsup when we asked for honey. He orders 4 orders of hashbrowns and 4 orders of bacon. First of all they screwed up the orders, 4, which is nothing new. Wanted to love my time here for my mom's birthday, but sadly I could not. Service was slow and inattentive, an immediate turn off. And service remained awful throughout. You know with big box/national chain stores or restaurants they are either a "good location" or a "bad location" this one was a "bad location" Slow service. Not a lot of the characteristic stuff in the walls. Staff forgot or messed up some of the orders. We were seated right after they bussed the last group so the table & chairs were wet when we were seated meaning we all sat on wet (not damp) wet chairs. Wet enough to show marks on our clothes. The peg game was missing pieces. Didn't bring out crayons for the kids (had to be asked twice). My hot tea was likely warm and they brought sugar instead of ordered honey & I had to ask twice for the honey (which came out covered in sticky drips when it finally arrived) We were there with family after a long flight including a todo and a baby. At one point a drink got knocked over & the glass broke. Not only did no one rush to help (though there were servers around) which was dangerous, they never brought a new drink I will say most of the staff were friendly but overall it was just bad. read more

They have a whole new menu since we were last here and it was terrible. My breakfast was $16 and consisted of egg whites (with colby cheese for an upcharge) a very small fruit cup (for an upcharge) and ham (for an upcharge). The biscuits have changed and were not very good. My husband got a scrambled egg thing which was mostly eggs with a lump of spinach on top, the hashbrown casserole was almost all cheese and cream and the portions were tiny. We dine here on a regular basis. Had a bad experience today. Food was slow but the waitress was very attentive. While waiting on the food, I realized I had some complimentary cinnamon rolls because of my birthday. When she brought them out, we had to look twice. The picture on the menu showed the rolls filling the small black skillet. Ours maybe filled halfway. As there were free, we said nothing. Tried to check out in the long line. When it was my turn to pay the clerk was unable to take the cinnamon rolls off the check and tried to call the manager. No one came. Eventually she told me I'd have step aside so she could wait on another customer in the ever longer line. After awhile she finally offered if I was willing to pay for them I can check you out. We've often hit Cracker Barrel while on the road, but wow has it gone down hill. The new menu is simply awful. Almost no ability to order à la carte, all the options are pre-fabricated combinations, making any substitutions pushes the cost of a meal up another 50% or more, food ranged from bland to nasty, and the "scramble" was a bit of stiff "scrambled" eggs topped with a half-frozen & obviously microwaved brick of vegetables. Our server was lovely, and I suspect it was less about this Cracker Barrel and more about the chain in general, but safe to say we've paid our last visit. read more

An old standby like Howard Johnson's used to be. BUT, they have really changed over the years. Never did like the "Saw mill gravy"..always tasted like wallpaper paste. But, everything else was consistent and good. I was looking around the store until my order came...50 minutes later...the food was on the counter and the cashier nonchalantly stated that it must have snuck up behind her. Miller Lane location-Terrible!!! Ordered scrambled eggs, (old timer breakfast). We waited a ridiculously long time for our food, and it was only lukewarm. So, we sent it back. The Mgr. apologized and took the plates. Waited another ridiculously long time, this time the eggs were COLD. They were worse than before. 3rd time the server brought a plate with just the eggs, and they were warm? But the biscuits were so cold the butter wouldn't spread, and the gravy was congealed like jello. And the manager disappeared leaving us to pay full price for poor service and terrible food. My friends' sausage was like 2 hockey pucks, and her pancakes were cold. I have eaten here and at others many times. This was the worst experience ever. We went to eat on Miller Lane in Dayton, Ohio at 11:30 A.M. on July 4th. Thought it might be crazy but we had a GREAT experience! Wait time was under ten minutes. Food was delicious! This location really struggled with service. It was along wait for our server. People were seated after us and had drinks before our server even took our drink order. She seemed annoyed with request for butter and jam with biscuits. She gave us three butters and one jam for four biscuits and was visibly annoyed when asked for more. Staff needs to keep in mind that we can see parts of the kitchen, I witnessed her complaining to the hostess about us when we asked for our check and I asked for a tea to go. She then had the hostess bring out an empty cup and our check. I did not have tea to pour into cup, so I asked a supervisor/ manager for one and they gave me a sweet tea instead of unsweetened. Ate at this particular Cracker Barrel Saturday night and I must say I'll never go back. Upon entering the hostess seemed to either be tired or have an attitude but she wasn't welcoming. We waited 30 minutes for a table which was fine and the seating area was good. Our waitress needs some interpersonal skills training. My partner ordered a to go dinner at the beginning of our service. Once we completed our meal and she brought the checks and the to go order she says " make sure to pay both checks because sometimes people steal". This is the Cracker Barrel on Miller Lane. We got breakfast there and the waiter we had was not good. Soon as we sat down he was at our table wanting to know what we wanted to drink. We had not even had time to read the menu. He did the same when he came back for our order. Seemed like he was hopped up on something talking super fast and wanting to know what we wanted like it was urgent we tell him. Again we did not have time to choose. When he did get our order he was like he was on speed. He came back in a few minutes saying he wanted to know our order again he spilled coffee on the original and could not read it. Comfort food for anyone anywhere, especially in Dayton, Ohio. This restaurant is located on the west side of I-75 and on the west side of Miller lane. It is located along a line of hotels and food options along that same road. This particular one is a franchise boasting family food. There are 664 of these stores as of November 1, 2022, with Ohio having 31. This location has plenty of parking all around the stand-alone building that houses it. The front porch faces Miller lane and has rocking chairs with tables for checkers. Inside the front door, there is a shop with many items from books to toys. The hostess seated me quickly. The dining area is split into several sections of wooden tables and booths with lots of aged memorabilia on the wall. The waitress came to take my order quickly and was friendly and helpful. I ordered pancakes with iced tea and I was not disappointed. The food came out quickly and was delicious with their small bottles of maple syrup. The cost was reasonable for what I ordered. Overall, it was a very pleasant and delicious meal, friendly people, a convenient location, and a reasonable price and I would recommend this location to my fellow travelers. read more

I met a friend here for lunch .. we did a bit of browsing and bought some super cute baby outfits for a mutual friend. We ate and had great friendly server. Did more browsing. Food was good once we were able to get everything we ordered it was good. Several of the dishes came out missing parts so we ended up asking for items. Once the server was made aware they were missing she brought them, but if we hadn't asked we would never have had the items. The waitress was good, but she never came back and refilled cups. We also had to flag her down to get to go containers and the bill. This is mainly why I only gave 3 stars. The food again was too. I had the sunrise sampler breakfast, my hubby had the grandmas sampler, my kids got a kids pancakes with macaroni and cheese (yes this one is a little weird) and the other got the veggie plate - macaroni and cheese and steamed broccoli. Mismanagement at its best. Got there and was told 30 min wait. After a hour I went and asked where we were in line and was told 4 party's ahead of you. Ok. 20 mins later after about 6 parties were called I went up again and got "o your next". Three people working host stand none could manage it. Got sat at table. No server. Finally after we almost left (torrie) I think came. If it was not for her they would have got one star. She was awesome and should probably go somewhere else and work. She made the trip worth it. I always try to give someone the benefit of the doubt but when your meal comes missing items and you ask your waitress for the item (gravy) to eat your biscuits and gravy and she never brings it.... But for 26 mins while you wait you watch her bring food out for various other tables... and when your glass of tea stays empty for 23 mins (you know exactly how long because you took a picture of the joke of a "premium side" which was 1/2 of a strawberry 3 chucks of pineapple, and then brought us the wrong check.
