Located in a bit of a remote location. It stands solitary, but inviting as is typical for Cracker Barrel. Greeted with a friendly smile. The layout is a Cracker Barrel layout. Seriously, you could navigate through one of these with your eyes closed. Once you've been in one Cracker Barrel, you've pretty much been in them all, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. They're almost always located right off of a highway exit, and what you find there is exactly what you expect. The closest thing to an old school diner experience that you could expect. The menu has gone through some changes over the years. I think they recently added Uncle Herschel's breakfast back which was actually a really big deal to me because that was always my thing. Just like getting the Rooty Tutti Fresh and Fruity from IHOP mainly because I like saying that. Appetizers are fantastic! Fried pickles are a little salty but oh so tasty! The beignets are really good. They now have a cinnamon bun skillet which is great. It looks a little terrifying in the menu because you think it's way bigger than it is, but it's a decent size to split between three or four people, so it makes a great high carb okay, it's a pure carbohydrate appetizer and it's worth it. Typically it's a friendly atmosphere, kitschy ambiance, kids love to play the peg game, comfy rocking chairs outside if you have to wait a while. It's full of controversy over their logo for some stupid reason that I think was actually generated by bots and not real human beings. I'm not upset with logo changes. I enjoy the restaurant. I enjoy the people who work there. I enjoy the people who sit near me at the tables, and I certainly enjoy going there with my family. read more

By that I mean she tried to run away from us every time she'd ask if we needed anything, which, I mean, made it pretty hard to ask for anything... Three of us ate lunch here. Two of us enjoyed catfish, one of us ordering the dinner meal with 2 huge fried fish fillets and the other having the one fish piece. Side choices are abundant. We highly recommend the cinnamon-sugar spiced fried apples and the perfectly crisp hashbrowns. The third diner in our party enjoyed a robust, homemade chicken pot pie. Naturally, we loved the cornbread and biscuits that are a highlight of Cracker Barrel. The decor throughout the dining room is homey. Social distancing is followed. While Cracker Barrel is a chain it is not sterile like so many others. In the winter the fireplace is lit and a log thrown on. The mild aroma of burnt wood only enhances your dining experience. Their menu I would say is Americana with southern overtones. I had the roast beef with two veggies. Biscuits were included with the meal. It was perfect, tender due to it's 17hr slow cook. The staff here is friendly and courteous. When we arrived the reception opened the door for us. There was sanitizer on entry but it's hard to see unless you turnaround and look for it. It's also on entry to the restroom. The server came promptly to take our orders. The food was fresh; the eggs tasted farm fresh and the eggs were perfectly scrambled and the bacon was also well prepared and good quality. The biscuits were light and fluffy. The coffee was good although a tad bit watery tasting. The staff again was friendly as we were leaving and at least 3 of them wished us a nice day. This was a clean Cracker Barrel. One of the best breakfast options in the Pottsville area. 20 minute drive, but well worth it! Never had to wait for a seat, plenty of parking, service is good, the price is right, and the breakfasts are quite tasty! The country store isn't really for me, but there are always people in there browsing. On a nice day you can take your coffee outside and sit in one of their rocking chairs on the covered deck. You can even buy one of these rocking chairs here! The only gripe I have is how overwhelming the menu is. Several pages just for breakfast! I've found it easier to just tell the server what I want and let them pick which breakfast I should order. Note: if your server has 4 stars, she is TOP notch and passed all the CB tests! We have been to this location several times. Once for breakfast and 3-4 times for lunch/dinner. They never disappoint. This visit was for dinner. There were 6 of us, and we are ALWAYS a handful. Our waitress was great!! She joined in on the fun and we had a great experience. Most of us had the fried chicken dinner, hands down the best breading anywhere!! I'm generally a fan of Cracker Barrel and have been to this one frequently. The service by Kelly the server during this outing was horrible. When asked for my drink order, I requested a diet Root Bear for my wife. They didn't have any in the restaurant as usual, and she told me to get it myself from the store. I told her that normally the servers just grab one and she got indignant and told me to go get it. It wouldn't have been an issue if she didn't have such an attitudes and I didn't have a history of other servers just getting one. She reluctantly got one, but then handed me and wife off to another server, Ileana. Ileana was great and did a super job. Kelly however, came back to bring us our food and basically threw my plate down on the table. Quite the attitude. I had also asked for extra syrup for my pancakes and when I told her this, she started to turn away with the extra syrup that she had in her hand. I basically had to grab it from her. I've never been so shocked at the poor behavior of a server. I spoke to the manager about it and he seemed like he would take action. Ileana took care of us for the remainder of our visit and was incredibly attentive and did a great job trying to make up for Kelly's rudeness. Illean received an exceptional tip due to her efforts. O M G I am sooooo glad I did the food was awesome especially the hash brown casserole I'm in love!! I also had the pecan fried chicken, it was so so good and I'm one of those that doesnt want nuts anywhere near my food. Was in the mood for an old fashioned home cooked meal and decided to hit this place. I have eaten at several different locations over the years and to be honest they are hit or miss. Today it was hit. The only negative thing was a lot of other people also decided to eat here also so I decided to get my food to go. Placed and paid for the order and browsed the shopping area. I told her I felt uncomfortable interrupting and she was uncomfortable by it. Another server came by and sat me. The food was not great as well. Cold. At the end I walked up to cashier, gave her feedback. He stood right next to us and heard everything, he of course , ignored it. He sarcastically asked if "he could help". I guess I'm just not a Cracker Barrel fan. This is my second time eating at a Cracker Barrel restaurant, but I've left feeling disappointed both times. I ordered the Cracker Barrel sampler dish, which came with Chicken n' Dumplins, Meatloaf, and country ham along with three sides (corn, cheese grits, and mashed potatoes with gravy). The meatloaf was ok, but definitely a lot better than the dumplings and the country ham, which were both extremely salty and undoubtedly stuffed with sodium. The mashed potatoes were decent (but I did not enjoy the gravy) and the cheese grits weren't good at all - it tasted like sand and I had to force myself to choke a bite down. The only part of the meal I truly enjoyed were the buttermilk biscuits and the corn muffins. I feel like Cracker Barrel is too cafeteria-style for me. We had an overnight stay in Frackville, not by choice but by circumstance. Needless to say, the continental breakfast at our hotel was underwhelming and disappointing. So we popped into Cracker Barrel for the hope of something better. We had about a 20 minute wait which we enjoyed in the rocking chairs out front, as we looked up and read about the goofy country song that was blaring over the speakers. Service was a bit slow and chaotic, but I wouldn't expect speed and finesse at the Cracker Barrel in Frackville PA. Other than that, the food was excellent. I had the breakfast sampler which was perfect for someone who can't make up their mind, and my partner had the delicious pot roast supper, and our waiter accommodated to his dairy-free needs. Also the fries are really good. The Hashbrown scramble was probably the best thing in the sampler. Overall this experience has revived the Cracker Barrel experience in my eyes, and we hope to make our Cracker Barrel visits more frequent. read more

The kicker here for travelers, sleepyheads and breakfast lovers is that breakfast is served all day - and worthwhile! You can simply satisfy your pancake craving with real maple syrup and fruit topping or order some nice and fluffy scrambled eggs with bread or order a full course breakfast for not much more in price. The prices are very reasonable and service is accommodating, warm and friendly - nearly as warm as the rustic charms in the adjacent gift shop that will remind one of days gone by. Not really the healthiest - although I did see fruit and granola on the breakfast menu. Unfortunately, when I'm at Cracker Barrel, I usually don't deprive myself of a taste of the classics and Cracker Barrel is the ideal place to go when you're far away from home or just miss the taste of your mother's/grandma's cooking! Also, one of my favorite desserts here is the Coca-Cola chocolate cake served with a side of vanilla bean ice cream. It only seems to be available for a limited time - but if it's on the menu - order it or get it to go! Conveniently located between Route 61 and Interstate 81. How can you not love Cracker Barrel? For those of you unfamiliar with this southern-based restaurant chain, let me fill you in on the fun of the Cracker Barrel. It's half restaurant, half "old country store". So not only can you fill up on deliciously greasy down home cookin', you can buy a candle, or some old- fashioned candy, or an exuberantly decorated sweatshirt. Or a rocking chair that they display out on the front "porch" of the restaurant! The food is consistently pretty darn good, especially for a chain. They serve breakfast thru dinner, with tons of options. I think it's the overall ambiance here that keeps us coming back... there's a checkerboard set up between 2 rocking chairs to play while you're waiting, or you can go shopping in the "country store", which is conveniently (though not for my wallet!) located in the next room. I have been to other Cracker Barrel restaurants in the South and found them quite good. There is a family atmosphere that makes you feel like you are visiting your friend's house for dinner. This particular Cracker Barrel was very friendly and all the waitresses and staff were happy and smiling. Each person greeted me with a smile and a sincere "How are you today?" The food is always hot and fresh. I had the meatloaf with gravy with mashed potatoes. We call this type of food back home "comfort food." Excellent food and service every time. If you are on Route 81 in PA stop in to this restaurant for a real home cooked meal. I enjoyed my time in the restaurant and I was never rushed.
