Four of us arrived at 7:30 and were seated about 20-30 minutes later. The area was messy from a large group having just left and it wasn't completely cleaned before we left. We waited for at least 10 minutes before a server approached to take our drink order. We ordered meals, as well, hoping it would speed up the process. While waiting about 10 minutes for our drinks and over 30 minutes for our food, a family with a very fussy baby (poor thing) full on cried most of the time. At one point the server returned to say they were out of broccoli and salad so we needed to choose other sides. When she finally brought biscuits and muffins, the latter were very hard. Once our food arrived, some dishes were only warm instead of hot. The gravy of my potatoes was actually drying up. Overall, the food was just okay; not the best I've had during visits to other Cracker Barrels. When I checked out (nearly 2 hours after we arrived), I spoke with the manager who was apologetic but generally unsympathetic. He asked what he could do to make it better to which I replied there was nothing because it was over, so he did NOTHING! I was quite appalled that he didn't discount our bill, at the very least. After the disastrous visit at the Lakeland, TN location, I was leary about going to another Cracker Barrel location period. But with the excellent service from Deadrick, this visit at the Jackson, TN location has reaffirmed my belief that not all locations are created equal. I still will not revisit the Lakeland, TN location ever again. Deadrick went above and beyond as if it was no problem and had a sense of humor and a very positive attitude and personality. he was Johnny on the spot with everything I could ever want. we need more servers like him. read more

We were there at 10am and ordered breakfast. We waited for 50 minutes and our waitress came by 3 times saying our food was on the way. We left our table and asked for a manager. When she finally came, after 5 more minutes of waiting, her bad attitude was evident. As we talked her attitude only got worse. If the kitchen was running behind or short staffed, a good manager would have dug in and helped out. Her clothes were too clean and it was evident that that type of work was beneath her. The store is fun to shop in and have nice stuff. The problem is the restaurant. The last few times we went there the wait was unreal. I have been to this Cracker Barrel many times over the years. The service has gotten worse and worse. The service was so bad once, the manager actually comped our meal...a meal for 6 people. We didn't ask for the comp, but we did complain to the manager about the abysmal service and he just offered it with no resistance. He agreed that our waitress had provided horrible service. This particular waitress brought our drinks and NEVER refilled them. After waiting literally 30 minutes for refills (after asking politely) and almost choking on our food, my nephew took it upon himself to go into the kitchen and refill his own drink. Only then did the waitress come for refills and at that point I feared she was angry and might tamper with our drinks. No apology from the waitress at all. Only the manager seemed to care. The last time I was there, out of 10 people at our table, 3 orders were wrong. And forget having your drink refilled. Even when we asked (politely, I might add) for refills, it took 15 minutes. No aplogy from the waiter, either. He acted indignant that we would want refills. When I go into a restaurant, I expect good service. There is no excuse for the lack of service and attitude at this Cracker Barrel. read more

We have been loyal Cracker Barrel customers across the country when we travel, for years, this visit was such a disappointment. They were not busy, we were seated promptly. It took some time for a server to come get our drink order and when she finally did, our senses were assaulted by massive amounts of perfume. I understand wanting to smell pleasant, but for persons with respiratory issues, this can be a huge discomfort while trying to enjoy a meal. Each visit to the table came with this same assault to the nose and mouth, smell the perfume, taste the perfume. It seemed to take an unbelievable amount of time to get our food, at least twice our server came to say our food would be "right out" and yet, we continued to wait. I mentioned to my husband our food should be really hot given the amount of time we waited. When the food finally came out, the cornbread was hot enough to melt butter, the sides were hot(ish), but very small, in fact, it was as though they must have been running out of green beans based on the serving size, literally, a spoonful on the plate. The meatloaf and my chicken were not cold, and not hot, I'd say, somewhere in between, like warm(ish). We did not complain or call for our server, why? Yep, you guess it y'all, the perfume. So long Cracker Barrel, at least this one; should have paid attention to the reviews. read more

Service was slow, seemed disorganized. The food was not good it was very bland and watered down vegetables. The store at the entrance was overstocked and crowded. My mother couldn't see her way through to the restaurant because of all the racks of clothes and stuff. They young staff was seating people at tables without cleaning them off, they just removed the dirty dishes no sanitation at all. My mother and I seated ourselves and finally I had to ask for a menu. It took 30 minutes for our food to come and it was cold and the Chicken & dumplings were the worst I've ever had with no flavor or seasoning. Through the years, we've eaten at quite a number of Cracker Barrel locations in a number of states, mostly with satisfaction with both food and service. WHY, oh WHY, must the worst CB we've visited be the one here where we live??? For the entire extent of its existence, the food and service here has been questionable at best. The quality (???) of the food varies considerably, depending upon the kitchen staff, and the wait staff far often appears to be working their very first night in the food industry!!! In fact, we've just recently begun returning to this location (here in our city) after absenting ourselves there for a few years. Yep, poor food and service!! Last evening, we decided to go to CB for a breakfast meal - which look and sound so appealing on the online menu!! Perhaps at some locations.....!!!! I ordered Momma's pancake breakfast, with sausage patties, eggs scrambled, and pecan pancakes. The entire meal was cold when served. Not just slightly warm - but COLD! Now days, you don't dare say anything at many places - out of fear of what will be done to your food! For some strange reason, the sausage patties had a red color - all of the way through. Were they cooked thoroughly? The pancakes actually were hard - and the pecans slightly rancid. Plus, when the waitress (who must have been working her first night there) brought my food, she didn't bring any syrup for the pancakes! When I asked about this, she pointed to a little cup of goop intended for my wife's French toast - and said that it was the syrup! I had to explain to her that, at CB, the syrup comes out in small bottles - and warmed. After further discussion and explanation, she went to the kitchen and returned with some syrup! In fact, that was the only warm thing that I was served. What a terrible experience!!! Oh, one other thing ---- Although I had ordered pancakes and my wife French toast, before we got our meals, the waitress brought us a basket containing biscuits, cornbread, butter, and jelly - which, obviously, were intended for a table where non-breakfast was being ordered. How did she get that confused??Furthermore, while we were eating, a man appearing to be the kitchen manager brought some food to a table near us - obviously appearing to be apologizing for some difficulty. My wife and I agreed that we will not return to this Cracker Barrel for a very long time - if ever. For the entire existence of this location, it has been quite evident that the kitchen management is AWOL!!! Why does the corporation not place properly qualified and trained management personnel in EVERY location??? Why, in this location, has there never seemed to be competent kitchen management? It really hurts to have to lower myself to this level - but, for breakfast, you'd be much better off going to IHOP - and that is saying a mouthful!!!! read more

Still thinking that this was one of the worst places I've ever eaten, but to add insult to injury I did email the company as asked, I didn't even receive acknowledgment that they received my email. That makes me believe that they didn't really care to start with. They just pretend to care. Of course there was also a phone number provided, but who wants to be put on hold for who knows how long just because some people can't get their stuff together and provide a good dining experience? 2-OUT SINGLE TO RIGHT TO DRIVE IN A RUN! This place has been here for years, and will be here for many more my friend. CB provides a great product (home style food) in a friendly, nostalgic atmosphere served by great associates. I grabbed some "groceries" here today for lunch with a couple of fellow associates while in Jackson for a site visit and left with a SMILE on my face (y'all)! First of all, I love the decor. It's like a cross between Mayberry and an episode of American Pickers. There's cool stuff hanging from the ceiling, and there's ole time candy and gifts for sale on the shelves. Most of the patrons are older which is also fun. You also naturally want to "slow down" when you come in and actually enjoy yourself. I had the grilled BBQ chicken with a chutney sauce and it was incredible! The chicken was cooked perfect and had a great flavor. The BBQ sauce was good and the chutney set it off. I also had green beans and steamed broccoli. The beans and broccoli were cooked just right. I also ordered a couple of extra biscuits with apple butter. Now, when I tell you to "slap yo' mamma," you KNOW they were good. The biscuits were light and fluffy and the apple butter was exceptional! My friends had the chicken fried chicken and blackened catfish, and both said their meals were good as well. They each order the fried okra and were almost "racing" to see who could get to the bottom of the dishes! Our server, Dedrick, did a great job serving us, and was also engaging with some light humor. WORST CRACKER BARREL SO FAR...... Spent the night in the RV parking area on a Saturday night (last night), and it was noisy with cars racing up and down the street. Also, the RV parking lot area is not level and has a slight slope. Decided to have breakfast in appreciation of the free overnite parking. Was the first one in line when the doors opened at 7 am. When I got to the front desk and I told them I wanted to place an order to go, they told me they'd call someone up to take my order. Meanwhile, they seated the next 12 people or so then someone asked if I had been helped yet. I said I was waiting to place a to go order. They went to get a server. Finally, they took my order, 10 minutes later. I waited by the cash register where the to go orders are placed, and I waited and waited and waited. Another lady who said she placed her online order at 7:01, was also waiting near me. The people that came in after me were beginning to leave as they had already eaten. I continued to ask where my order was. She said they were short staffed and the dining room was full. When another server showed up to help at the register, she went to the back to check on our orders. Lo and behold, she walked out with my order. I took it out to the car as we had to get on the road. Everything was cold. I think the order had been done and sitting in the back for awhile and nobody brought it up front. They also forgot the side order of breakfast gravy. This was one of the worst Cracker Barrel restaurants we encountered on our cross country trip through 11 states so far! read more

Is anybody else sick of bad food and service? Cracker Barrel, our old reliable stand by, has gotten about as low as it can go. On our last visit, not one of our three orders was correct. Badly incorrect. We told our waiter we needed help, and he left the table and never came back. We sort of picked at what we got, and finally asked for the manager, who was as nice as they come and made it right, except that we left hungry. The floors are shockingly dirty, and the restrooms are not good. I know all about COVID, and people who don't want to work, but getting impatient with cooks who can't cook, and servers who won't serve. Shut the place down and teach them what they need to do. Checked in at the hostess desk and were told there was a 35 minute wait. 45 minutes later we were told that our name had been skipped and there would be a table ready soon. 20 minutes later and after several groups were seated ahead of us, we were seated. The waitress informed us that there would be a lengthy wait for our food because a large order had been prepared earlier today and the kitchen was behind. We asked for our bread which was brought quickly but with no silverware or plates. The waitress informed us that the silverware was being rolled and she would bring some soon. After speaking with the manager we received wet silverware in a basket and wet plates that still had food on them. We waited an additional hour after being seated and still had no food while others around us were being served. After being in this restaurant for 2.5 hours and no meals in sight we left. This restaurant seems to be very poorly managed! The only reason I'm giving one star is that the waitress was friendly and apologetic and the restrooms were clean. read more

I will never eat there again. I spent nearly 40$ on the meatloaf n chicken dumplins 2 sides n muffin and a chefs salad and soup. It was cold and looked like a jail meatloaf and it had a hair in it.
