Took us 30 minutes to get our drinks and we waited an hour for just our appetizers. The food was good but the service was horrible.

Well, not what I expect from Cracker Barrel. We always expect friendliness and we are friendly as well. The server was polite. Enough to not be able to say she was rude. To give her credit, she seemed to not hear us well. I asked for green beans and she brought me corn on the cob, my husband asked for grape jelly and he was given strawberry. The lemon aid was brought out warm, not in a frosted glass as other Cracker Barrels serve it. We had to ask for ice for it. My water glass was not refilled even once. Our food came out cold and dry. So nothing really to complain of, but I will think twice before returning to this one. The cashiers were cool and distant as well. Or maybe just tired. Who knows? read more

Horrible service!!! it was a 50 minute wait for the table then another 45 minute for our food it took 10-15 minutes for a refill after the waitress asked if we wanted a refill. The waitress got our order wrong, she did not bring us our corn bread or biscuits like we asked. She gave us plastic silverware when every table around us had real silverware. Love coming to this place, the young lady that seated us has zero communication skills. As we were called up to be seated, she got the menus and walked off. Never asking us to follow her to our table. As we stood there waiting to be told to follow her to our table even other people laughed and said that you can tell that she hates her job ( or hates having to work). Then she came back even madder and threw her hands up and said, I said "i told yall to come on....." But the young lady that was our waitress (Adrain) was great. She was very polite and helpful. We eat here fairly often, as my elderly parents adore this place. Today, I tried their app check-in at this location for the first time (I had previously used it when living in Georgia-completely different experience). It was mid-day New Years Day, so it was crowded. The app gave me an estimated wait time of 30 minutes. I placed my party of 6 on the app wait list as I left my driveway. (I live less than 10 minutes from the restaurant.) Upon my arrival, I ask the hostess if we were on the wait list, and saw that we were, but not on the active list (I could plainly see the tablet the hostess was using.) She asked me quite aggressively if my entire party had arrived before she placed us on the active list. Apparently they don't seat people unless the entire party is present. This is something I have never encountered outside of this particular location. Also, our wait was closer to an hour instead of 30 minutes. So why on earth does Cracker Barrel even have an app you can use to get on their seating list if your party isn't even put on the list of parties being actively seated? I see absolutely no advantage in using it. In Georgia, we could use the app to get on the waiting list, then walk in the door only to hear your name called! Also, I ate here several years ago while wheelchair-bound, and was entirely unable to get to the dining room due to the piles of merchandise on the floor. Nothing has changed. This place is NOT handicapped accessible. Years ago, when I contacted the store manager about this, he proved to be the rudest, nastiest person I've ever had the misfortune to meet. If you have a wheelchair in your party, consider going to Shaw's Old Country Store instead. It's only one exit west, and the staff is always accommodating. read more

We usually stop at Cracker Barrels on road trips and have no issue, however had a few here. The hosts were really nice and we got a table pretty quickly since they were not busy and it was dinner time. We waited for our food, and after we ordered a single person was seated next to us and so were another couple. We waited awhile and noticed that those seated afterward got their food (heck even our dining neighbor was surprised our food hadn't come out yet). We saw our order on the kitchen counter under the lamps but our server was no where to be found. I called a waitress and she said our food should be coming. Finally I see our waiter in the kitchen and he gets our food. He came out and said plates are hot (cause they were under a lamp) and served us. We asked for some condiments and when he returned I told him our children's platter was lukewarm and tables around us we're already served (one had left already) and he said he would let a manager know. You could tell the food was sitting there, since a food film was on the mashed potatoes, gravy and grits. The best part was is the waiter told a manager and he just glanced over and returned to his conversation with some colleagues, and that was it. The manager never came by our table. Also our waiter disappeared and a young waitress came by to check on us 5 minutes later. Food was good (but cold), but our waiter and managers actions are questionable. I'm on a road trip from Texas. I've been driving for 10 hours and had to stop and stay in a town I don't know. I saw Cracker Barrel and thought "awesome, something I know. I know just what to order." To say I'm underwhelmed would be an understatement. I picked up my food and got back to the hotel which was less than a block away. My food was lukewarm even though it wasn't ready when I got there, so it's not like it was waiting on me. And the fried okra I ordered had exactly 8 pieces of okra in it. Now, any of you who've been to Cracker Barrel know good and darn well that you get far more than eight pieces when you order a side of okra. Not to mention my green beans were in the mac & cheese. I Had great customer service from (Brianna?), the server. the gravy was good and the suggested chicken fried chicken was great. I would go back just for that and the server. I want to give this location more than two stars, but ultimately you go to a restaurant for the food, and even though the service was great, the food was lacking. My wie and I are traveling and stopped by for breakfast. I forget what she ordered, but her opinion was "meh". I ordered a Country Boy breakfast with the sirloin. They did cook the steak rare as I ordered, but had it not been for the meager amount of seasoning on it, the thing would have been flavorless. On top of that, the meat must have come from a retired rodeo bull, because the steak was tough as nails and I was afraid it was going to start fighting back. The fried apples were good and the eggs were ok, but the rest of the meal was just pitiful. Bland hashbrown casserole, flavorless grits and overcooked biscuits. I don't think I'll forget the drywall mud that they tried to pass off as gravy either. Needless to say, if I find myself in this neck of the woods again, I certainly won't be eating here. read more

Let me make this clear. I absolutely hated Cracker Barrel based on an experience I had YEARS ago. I meant to post this earlier but the rat race of Chicago keeps my nose to the grindstone and I've barely had time to breath. After a 8.5 hour drive from Chicago to Jackson I was feeling peckish. No I was starving. The battery in my phone had died and I had no idea where I was. I saw a shoe store I mistakenly believed to be a drug store (It was called Rite something.) and pulled up hoping to buy a charger and some chips to tide me over. Since chewing leather was not and option I headed back to my car and saw the Cracker Barrel. I begrudgingly pulled in. (Again I hated this place.) I was starving. I was ravenous. I ogled the plates around me! I just knew this was going to be an ordeal, though I was seated faster than I assumed I would. From nowhere, a dark haired angel with a sultry southern accent said: "Hun are you okay?" I nodded--albeit begrudgingly. "Well you look hungry, so let me take care of this." I was blown away. She noticed exactly what was wrong with me without any effort. I don't even think she was working my area. I told her I was a diabetic, and I have food aggression. She somehow managed to get my drink and appetizer within no time. I was so grateful. The floor was swamped, and they were clearly understaffed but she some how managed to make sure my drink was bottomless, not to mention the other patrons were well taken care of as well. I didnt even have the energy to pick what I wanted. I told her I have zero food allergies and I would eat anything. I asked her to pick for me. A short while later she returned with deep fried steak meal with potatoes and I believe carrots. I PRACTICALLY INHALED MY FOOD. She asked where I was from, she told me that she had a few friends who lived in my area. Oh, and get this. I drove almost 9 hours on 1 phone charge, and left my charger at home like and idiot, AND SHE GAVE ME ONE OF HER EXTRA ONES. Please understand that I get that when you are a server you HAVE to be nice.....but I can't express how kind this woman was to me. Even if it was an act--which it was clearly not--she was so genuine. She literally washed away every poor experience I had with Cracker Barrell. Her name was Ashley. I asked for her last name before I left so I could call the manager and thank him for how kind she was--but I forgot it as this was months ago. I believe it was Ashely Charlize. Or Ashley Shurleens. Either way, when you dine here, please ask for her. She made me realize my issue was actually with the cracker barrels in Illinois not TN. The more I consider it, maybe it's just a culture of kindness that Tennessee exudes. Either way we need people like Ashley in Chicago. When I am in town I'll be eating at this location. 5 well deserved stars. read more

My husband and I visited our local Jackon Tn. Cracker Barrel today for lunch/breakfast. I had so looked forward to the fried chicken! Don't order it!!!! The crust on the chicken is so dry and hard you cannot eat it. Also the chicken has been frozen....the bones are black...a sure sign of frozen chicken. I love CB...you can always depend on it being good!! But that chicken needs lots of work to make it edible!!! read more

Best service ever! Tericia was the best! There was a mix up of which server had our table. She came over after we had been sitting for several minutes and said "has no one served you?" She immediately took our drink and food order and said she would make sure our server knew. She came back moments later with our drinks and said there was a mix up/change of table lay out and that she was sorry for the wait. She said this is not my table but I am going to keep you! Food came quickly, it was delicious and Our glasses were never empty! To be honest this is one of the best Cracker Barrells I've ever been to. Granted Cracker Barrel is a chain restaurant for Southern food but never the less, this location was on point. The servers were incredibly friendly and helpful with my two toddlers. The gift shop always have tons of goodies with fun interesting old school candies. The food came out fresh and piping hot. Overall I was really pleased. The only reason I give it a four star instead of a five star is because it is a chain restaurant. read more

Cracked Barrel is one of my favorites. I was raised on it. Each time we go to this location, there is usually a small issue like wrong food, slow service, or busy waiter, but overall, the restaurant follows the timeless traditions of a family-friendly atmosphere, good home cooking, and a plethora of nostalgic knickknacks for decor. This has to be the worst Cracker Barrel I have been to. I place my to go order on line and pay for it to help the process once I arrive at the restaurant. I go in stand at the normal to go podium and wait for some direction. I was approached by a waitress asking me if I had a to go order. She then proceeded to take my order, however, when I told her I had already placed my order she immediately turned away looking for someone who wanted to place an order. So no big deal right? Wrong I continued to stand there waiting when the cashier checked out customers, and when a manager arrived, I asked " am I supposed to just take my order now?" She told me now you need to check in with the cashier first (this is what I had expected to do). However I had already paid for my order so I wouldn't have to wait in a line and the waiting in a long line to check out. So I explained I was not willing to wait any longer to pick up my order after already waiting for someone to say something from the beginning. Ok so myabe I am just complaining a bit, but the I get my food and I go meet my wife for dinner. Open my daughter me and wow was I suprised to find a country fried steak with maybe a tablespoon of gravy and the mashed potatoes that are so dry they could stand on their side. We come here for breakfast once in a while and usually the food and service is great. Today however, we got over-serviced! I think a regional manager was in the main body of the restaurant as a customer and all the waitstaff went overboard. I think we had about ten interruptions! (Which is about 7 too many.) That being said, I had to ask twice for sugar free preserves, and my over medium eggs were definitely over easy. But I would have had coffee warmups every 2 minutes! One time they are spot on the next time anything goes. Swapping waiters in the middle of the order. Can't get a refill on coffee. Walks away before asking if you need any condiments. Crazy. Three of us had breakfast in this property. I had given my mother a $50 gift card and the back of it was still glued to the gift certificate tent card. I tore it off at the register and the total bill was $30 and change. The card had never been used and my change should have been $19 and cents. However, the cashier handed the card and receipt back showing that there was only $2.47 or so left as a balance. I explained, as did my witness who saw me remove it from the glue on the tent card, that it was brand new for $50. She said it did not have $50 on it. Either the cashier, or someone in the corporate office, swiped the card and placed it on their personal card or did something nefarious. My mother had an issue with a gift card not being activated about four years ago that was mailed to her and that was another drama that should not have happened. That's it for us with giving/receiving gift cards for Cracker Barrel. I do not trust the process. That is also all for CB in the future. There is IHOP, Pekins, Waffle House, etc., and there are not similar issues. Someone can call me about this, but I (along with my friend and mother) are very angry about this rip-off. Our waitress, Destiny, was awesome. She was sweet, friendly and got everything right. She checked back with us frequently and brought our check promptly. If only every waitress would "love" or "pretend to love" their job as much as she did, the world would be a better place. First time eating here for breakfast. Waiting for seats seems to be a norm which is a great reason to try it out. I love all the cute merchandise they have while eating for your seat. Smart Devils!! Finally what we were waiting for during our travel! Some homemade southern good cooking!!! We arrived for breakfast on a Sunday and it was down right packed! The wait was only 10 minutes (just enough time to browse their store). Breona was our server! I don't know how long she has been a server but this girl had a rhythm some servers never seem to attain! She kept the coffee cups filled and there wasn't a period she wasn't checking in on us! Everutome you see here she was sming anf acknowledging people wiyh respect! While we were waiting for our food the family was attempting to win the pegboard game. Along came Dedrick, who was making his rounds serving water as needed. He noticed the hubby was attempting to figure out his next move on the pegboard. Dedrick stepped in to coach him, which he made look so easy! Believe me when I say if the family could cheer like our footbal team made the winning score we would have due to his coaching a round was finally won!!! He made us laugh and we all enjoyed the moment! What an awesome man who doesn't just server water but joy and laughter!!! I have so much respect for people who take the time to acknowledge others and he had my total respect for this act of acknowledgement and kindness!! Our food arrived piping hot and so delicious it was hard not to want to lick the plate! I had the sampler plate and it is a plate I highly recommend if you have never really had breakfast here. Eggs, honey smoked ham, sausage patty, bacon, biscuits, country gravy, Apple butter (upon request which we did) hasbrowns, baked apples ....yeah all of that! We had no complaints! I am a fan of the place. Although it is a chain and the food but not be anything super gourmet, the food quality is good, prices are competitive and the service is fine. The place is good for kids, and large and spacious. I like room to spread out and relax, especially after a long drive or a hard day. You are safe ordering basic food here and although it is mostly heavy food, you have more options and it is more comfortable than stopping at a typical fast food chain. The decor is kind of nice and the feel of a country diner with a fireplace and the country store attached. read more
