Came in at 7:45pm, the hostess was not terribly friendly but not rude either. We did get seated immediately. The waiter on the other hand was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the menu items. I ordered the big easy steak and shrimp with mashed potatoes and fried okra. My wife ordered the maple bacon chicken with a side salad and loaded hash browns. It was a pretty quiet night for a Cracker Barrel. The atmosphere has surprisingly picked up even though it's past 8 now. The maple bacon chicken was over cooked, and not moist at all. Her sides were fine and the flavor was good just dry. The steak and shrimp were spot on though, asked for mid rare and they got it perfect. We had a great experience at this London, Kentucky, Cracker Barrel this afternoon. Lucas, our server, did an awesome job. Friendly and efficient and made sure everything we needed was taken care of. Chris, we believe he's the manager, came by and talked with us and made sure everything was fine and it was! Our food was delicious, a dish called creole shrimp was very delicious; and the fried chicken my husband had, equally delicious and freshly prepared. If I had a small suggestion, my turnip greens were a little less than heated and I did not want to disrupt the flow of our great meal by having it reheated. The flavor was still good. I love eating at this restaurant because the food is fresh and the cost to portion size ratio is appropriate I also enjoy looking through the general store on my way to and from the table However due to gardening I cleverly opted to get a family portion of Chicken & Dumplings to.go with our fresh vegetables and received the container above. It was only half full and was advertised to feed a family of five and cost 17.00 dollars. I was so shocked in fact that I even called the store to confirm a mistake hadn't been made but alas apparently I had received just what I ordered. The hamburger steak was cooked per my request but extremely dry, the sides were ok at the best. It was delivered via door dash within 5 minutes of pick up. We've ordered several times from the London, KY Cracker Barrel. The order is screwed up EVERY TIME!!! We order from the menu. It's not like we are asking for something to be customized or something. At least they're consistent with something I guess because they screw it up every single time. If you want to eat here, don't bother placing an order. First of all, they wouldn't let us order on the phone even though we had done that with every other restaurant in the area. Their website was confusing and not everything on their in person menu is on the website. When we got there, we went inside and waited for our order for about 40 minutes. We asked multiple employees where our food was and they said it was still being made. We asked the manager to see what was going on and he said he would, but he never got back to us. He walked by us multiple times after that. It turns out our food was outside. They never called our names to pick up our food. We had to ask the cashier twice if she knew where our food was and she asked two other employees and they said they didn't know. Don't go here if you expect quality service. My wife had the grilled chicken with sweet potato and house salad. All the food was good, appeared a little smaller portions than usual. We went to the Cracker Barrel in London, KY. They were out of most chicken dishes as well as the trout, which I had ordered. I then asked for the meatloaf. My husband ordered slow cooked roast beef. The meatloaf looked terrible and tasted even worse. Plus it was barely warm. My husband's beef was mostly fat. Also the corn muffins were hard and dry. The waitress just apologized and gave us the bill. Also, many tables around us were never cleaned off . A terrible meal and a terrible experience. Traveling to NC for a wedding, we stopped for breakfast/lunch. Apparently Cracker Barrel is the McDonalds of the South. They're everywhere. I just wish they didn't cook like McDonalds. The food was a great value, but the quality fell short, and it was totally avoidable. I would like to volunteer my time to teach them how to cook scrambled eggs, as well as how to serve hot food. Very disappointing meal this (Sunday) morning; After ordering the advertised pumpkin pancakes & muffin our server Debbie told us "they ended yesterday ". Really. Yet they are still in the trifold AND the menu. We ordered the oatmeal & buttermilk pancakes. After receiving our food we had to ask for silverware. Our servers response, "oh it's been locked in the office". Once we received the silverware we were able to eat. Oatmeal was awful; barely lukewarm and salty. It was not eaten. Growing up we traveled a lot back and forth from Michigan and Florida and no matter what highway we took there was always a good ole Cracker Barrel to welcome us. This particular location is a little hard to get to. You can see it off I75 but once you exit into London you kind of have to guess where to go. There are two ways we found but not being familiar with the area it was difficult for me. The service was ok. She wasn't bad... we got refills and she brought me corn bread in addition to biscuits because they weren't ready yet. But she hardly smiled or made any small talk effort. Again, not a terrible experience just not grand. When paying the lady checking me out was far busier talking to the other cashier about her mother than to pay me any attention. Resulting in her trying to short change me. Had I been absent minded I would have been out of $15.00. *she counted the change first then 3 $1 and closed the drawer without the 5&10 bills. Anywhoo. We stopped here to break up a drive with the kids. Good decision. The Cracker Barrell chain is pretty standardized when it comes to food, but service tends to vary from location to location. This one was great all around. There was a friendly greeter when we came in the door. Everyone loves to hear how cute their family is, right ;) ? Well, it put the experience off to a good start. We were seated quickly, served by a sweet waitress with Southern charm and the food arrived promptly. There was a lot of food! We only ordered one side salad, two eggs and the breakfast sampler and our table was FULL of plates. My husband and I and our two kids ate, were full and there were a few bites left over. The sampler was about $9 and included two eggs, grits, 3 biscuits, bacon, sausage, ham, hashbrown casserole and fried apples. I am now convinced Cracker Barrell is one of the best places for a traditional breakfast. It's hearty and tastes homemade. Coming from a Kentucky family, I have a special place in my heart for country food. I love grits as a breakfast option and they did not disappoint. Actually, everything on the table was delicious and the perfect temperature. The hashbrown casserole was cheesy and had a nice crunch on top, the country ham was perfectly salty (I'm not much of a ham eater but I wanted more), the buttermilk biscuits were dense and scrumptious with the signature apple butter and the eggs were cooked nicely. The only part of the meal I didn't like were the apples, but I think that's just a preference. To me, there was too much sauce and they tasted like pie filling, but my husband and kids loved them. The clean restrooms were a bonus and the country store provided some car snacks and the chance to peruse and stretch our legs. There's nothing exotic about a Cracker Barrell breakfast, but it hits the spot when you want home cooked fixins'. This company has a recipe for success: southern hospitality and friendly service, tasty and consistent food options at a reasonable price, boutique shopping, games and porch sitting and locations right off the interstate. By far one of the best restaurants I've ever been to! First of all, the country store when you first walk in has an abundance of practical, high quality, well priced merchandise that seems to be all handmade in house.The restaurant portion of the facility was of similar decor to a restaurant you might find in French countryside. The food was remarkable and was comparable to something you would find in a high end restaurant in NYC. It's nice to know that there is at least one 5 star restaurant left in this country. read more
