Friday fish fry - cod fillets, Coleslaw and fries - delicious!
    Cheryl P.

Cracker Barrell's goal is to be consistently good, so that folks traveling can confidently go to any location and get very similar results. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. We love the Friday night fish fry they have, and took some friends to a location closer to them for convenience. We were sad to find that not all locations give you the same results. We all ordered the fish fry, on our recommendation. This was at the SR 200 location near I-75 in Ocala, FL - this is supposedly the busiest location in Florida. The fish was not fillets, but chunks -more breading than fish. A runner brought our biscuits and corn muffins, which were badly burned. Also told they don't offer coleslaw because they make a 75lb vat that spoils before they sell it all. Overall was a very poor experience. Fast forward to last Friday 5/30 - we went to our local CB on 484 and 475 in Ocala. Guess what? They serve coleslaw and the fish fillets - cod - were delicious. Our biscuits were not burned either. Seems that consistency, sadly,is not key at all branches.

Lunch is always great at the Cracker Barrel. All the coffee you can drink -

The biscuits and corn muffins are hot and fresh ! And the wait staff, I don't know how they manage to be there to refill my coffee! Weekly specials - I got the dumplings!

Gotta shop while you wait for your table.

Cannot go wrong with Cracker Barrel when on the road traveling. Food is consistent and a very good value. The store up front is also fun to wander through while waiting for a table. Also, best bathrooms when you are traveling the interstate highways. Service was great as always.

When traffic on I75 has you delayed, popping off the interstate for a late lunch can make the delay bearable. My server started my visit informing me they were out of straws for the drinks, which doesn't bother me because I try not to use plastic straws. He told me how some customers have been very upset about it and joked how people can be appalled to put their lips on the glass that their drink is in. Laughing right off the bat made me very happy I stopped. I ordered the roast beef with potatoes, gravy and corn with both biscuit and cornbread. Food was out super fast! And just how it should be, fork cut roast, good gravy and potatoes. Overall visit was great!

Menu isn't too complicated and we were trying to keep this simple so here's what we ordered: Grilled chicken caprese. Just what it says. Layers of mozzarella and sliced tomatoes with grilled chicken on top drizzled with a balsamic reduction. If you want greens there's two pieces for decoration. I enjoyed this dish. Chicken was moist and had great flavor. I do wish there were a few more pieces on it for the price point. I felt I got about a third of the breast. Ivy Caesar Salad: my husband loves Caesar Salads and he said this was just ok. He didn't like that some of the pieces looked old. This salad was fine and not anything special. Raspberry Tea: very sweet with a weird tang. Didn't really seem like tea at all. Wouldn't get it again. Overall this place has great ambience even if it is rather pretentious and over the top. Staff is friendly and food came out at a reasonable amount of time. Not sure if I'd go there again. Lunch is pricey. Without tip this was a $40 meal and that included only one NA drink.

It was early evening and when I walked in I thought the decor was so adorable. Quaint and just really lovely. I was getting a good feeling and wondering why I never had stopped in here before since I love coming downtown and going to different places down here. The whole vibe to me is just very comfortable even though it can get busy there is something that makes you feel calm in this area. We were seated and I looked at the menu wanting steak and even though it was early they didn't have any ( rib eye ) Yes it was on the menu but that was ok, instead I chose a Wam burger and fries. To be honest I wasn't impressed. I asked for medium rare and my burger came out well done. It was a bit flavorless to me and the fries weren't even hot nor crispy. The service was just ok and when we had gone the restaurant hadn't even been very busy. I may give Ivy on the Square another try if I have a good reason. We will see. I wonder what you think. We witnessed a couple sitting at a table near us who had a dog in a baby carriage type thing. They were feeding the dog with a restaurant fork and also giving some food out of a restaurant bowl. I pointed this out to our server Debbie who told us they are not allowed to ask any questions as service dogs are allowed. When we pointed out to her that they were feeding the dog with their fork and bowl as well as letting the dogs head on/near the table and then ask her what type of service could the dog provide sitting in the carriage she went and talked to them. Debbie came back and told us the couple had a government issued license indicating the dog is a service dog. Again, she said there was nothing she could do. I suggested she talk with her Manager as service dog or not the dog can not provide service sitting in the carriage and should not be feed at the table with their fork and bowls. Debbie stated the couple told her the dog had recently had surgery. The couple left before we did and as they passed by us the dog was very active in the carriage and did not appear to be feeling bad. After they left another person cleared off the table and then wiped it down with a cloth. We watched her take the cloth put it a container which appeared to have water/or some cleaning material in it. Later another person used that cloth on another table. Not all of us ate lunch as we decided we did not want to eat food in a place that: 1. allowed dogs sitting in a carriage. 2. allow dogs to be feed with their fork and bowl. 3. allow dogs to have their head at/near the table top. 4. use a cloth to clean a table where a dog has been and then reuse the cloth on another table. Not only did they lose income today but the likelihood of me returning to Pig and Cattle is very slim. I have always enjoyed Pig and Cattle and personally I think you prices are reasonable and food is very good. Our after Church group -- generally 8-12 people--have about four place we rotate going to. The next time Pig and Cattle comes up in the rotation it is very unlikely my wife and I will go. Afterall, how can we be sure another dog was not at our table or a cloth used to clean the table had not been used to clean a dog table? How can we be sure that the silverware we are using has not been used to feed a dog? How can we be sure that the bowl/plate we we are served with has not been used to feed a dog? As lost customer, George

Tonight was "trivia night", which, while we didn't play, we did enjoy trying to guess the answers. Our grand daughter's face was a big "O" of amazement when realizing the upper tables were enjoying roasting their marshmallows at their table...when she was told they were making s'mores...she went nuts! She's so excited to get tableside s'mores! My wings were even better than they were last time since there was an addition of seasonings sprinkled on them along with the dill pickles, but unfortunately, our cheeseburger pizza suffered from not having enough mustard and ketchup base to it, the tomatoes were enormous chunks and so were red onions. It made it very difficult to eat without things falling all over your clothing since they were such huge chunks on top of the tiny pieces of pizza. My husband got the steak bomb sub, son got a pepperoni Stromboli, daughter in law got the Sharon's Brie burger, grand daughter the child's cheeseburger and fries. Our apps were the garlic knots, mild wings (10) and fried cheese curds with sriracha ranch dipping sauce. Everything was okay, except that it took forever for everything to come out, compared to our first visit. Even our s'mores seemed to take forever. The quickest part of the whole visit was the bill . The fella that waited on us the first time was on point. Not saying that the young lady waiting on us was rude or anything, but I think she was trying to do too many things at once and some things just fell by the wayside. Last visit we came in on a Saturday as well, but perhaps some people are just better at multitasking? I don't know. This time, our bill was over $200 with tip, but we still brought home food again. Not a lot compared to the last time, only 2 little pickle wings (I still can't get enough of those darn things!) and maybe 4 slices of pizza. My husband's loaded tots weren't to his liking, so there's something even for the dog tomorrow We may stay away for awhile and see if they manage to work out some kinks. If anything, the best rule is consistency. If the food preparation is not consistent every time you go to eat there, there's a problem. There should be NO deviation just because someone else is cooking it. All recipes should be the same. Twice we've ordered the same items and they've been different. I still recommend this place for great vibes, cocktails, food and the tableside s'mores. There's just nowhere else like it!
