    A ridiculously small biscuit.

Wow! Been to a lot of Cracker Barrel's in my life and never a bad experience until today. Biscuits looked like something else other than biscuits. Had to cut the chicken on the grilled chicken salad. Had to get up and ask for ketchup that the waitress never brought after she abandon us after food arrived after 30 minutes. Soooo disappointed! I wish I could give a zero!

Old country cooking.. with old country shopping. That sums up Cracker Barrel. The restaurant has everything from breakfast to salads, sandwiches, fish, fried chicken, a turkey dinner, meatloaf, etc.. Breakfast is served all day. They have a long list of side dishes to accompany your meal. The store has lots of vintage candy, toys for kids, clothing, and cool Knickknacks. There's lots of interesting things here. It's a good place to get that gift for sometime. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with this particular location. To begin with, my server brought the wrong entree out. She then later brought my salad with my entree. I had hoped to eat the salad first. I ordered fish wish came out black with a large bone in it. The fish tasted nothing like I've gotten at other crackle barrels. My server never came back to refill my drink or ask how my meal was. It was not the best experience. I may not go back to this one, but I do recommend Crackle Barrel in general. They usually have pretty good food and decent service.

We had been here over the summer, and stopped by with our daughter to share the experience. Service is always good, and some of the food is great. It seemed like the 1 inch porkchop was not as good as the gigantic one I had last time, but I coykd be crazy. My husband woukd say I was crazy, so there is that. My daughter loved her fish. The mashed potatoes with white gravy were so good, I ate those first. Hubby asked for a garden salad with salmon. He got a spinach salad with salmon. Our server brought it out and offered to have it remade, but the salad looked wonderful and he really enjoyed it. Kudos to the chef for standing his ground haha. We were too full for dessert. Highly recommend, for the experience and the cute period clothing. Get reservations though! We have to wait over an hour on our first visit. We made reservations the 2nd time and we're seated within 10 minutes.

There's this whole lighted (think Christmas type lights) walkthrough area behind the restaurant with animals, a koi pond and stores (gift & liquor). This space is unlike most any restaurant that I've ever been to but it was neat. The food is what really got Patti her rating though. The flower pot bread was good, the spinach salad with the hot bacon dressing was better and that pork chop with the sauce completed an excellent meal. Then came desert, the peanut butter chess pie was phenomenal and of course I had to get it with ice cream and now I'm getting ready for bed from a food induced coma.

The locals greeted me like I'd just come back from a long trip instead of walking in for the first time. Either they're incredibly friendly or they thought I needed supervision. Either way, solid welcome. Service was minimal in the best possible way. No hovering, life story, or unnecessary check-ins. Just quick, friendly, and efficient, like they understood I came to eat, not start a long term relationship. Now here's where things take a turn: the food has no business being this good. I ordered the Southside Supreme Pizza, and I'm still trying to figure out how a place that looks like it could host a darts league championship is casually putting out world class pizza. I've had pizza from all over the world and this place can hold its own. Thin, perfectly crispy crust, fresh ingredients, and enough cheese to make you question your priorities but not your choices. It's like the pizza didn't get the memo about where it was being served. So yeah, I give it 5 stars. Come for the dive bar charm, stay because the food quietly outperforms half of the "fancy" places that make you wait 45 minutes for a table and then serve you a disappointment on a wooden board. I'll definitely be back. Next time I might even try to look like I belong.

I ordered the Chicken Parmesan sandwich with fries same hubby ordered fish and chips. The waitress brought out a basket of rolls with whipped butter. Those were excellent rolls. Yeasty and soft. The butter was perfect too. Loved the rolls. Our meal came and immediately I was impressed with their fish and chips. The menu says hand breaded. The fish looked amazing. Hubby said it very good, great breading, nice and crispy. Great tartar sauce too. I wish I had tried it. My fries were not crispy (no double fry) not crispy at all. They were hot and cooked though. My sandwich was pretty good, not excellent. It had a bit too much sauce in it for me. It had a good flavor and the toasted garlic roll was good. I will be back, but I think I will try something else next time.

To be fair, the servers were very kind and doing their absolute best, but the restaurant was clearly understaffed. Everyone looked frantic, which set the tone right away. The dining room was also freezing, with cold air constantly sweeping in from outside -- not exactly the cozy lunch my mom and I were hoping for. My mom ordered her favorite, the shrimp and grits, and she loved it. Clean plate, no complaints from her. I wish I could say the same for my meal. I ordered the prime rib after asking the server about it. She assured me it was juicy and looked great today. I asked for medium rare. What arrived was a dry, gray slab of meat that was nowhere near medium rare. I cut into it to show her how overdone and dry it was, and she took it back. Eight minutes later, a second prime rib arrived. This one had a tiny bit of pink, but still mostly gray, still dry, and still absolutely not fresh. It tasted like leftover prime rib from the day before that had been microwaved -- that unmistakable reheated texture and flavor. It was honestly disgusting. I choked down less than half before giving up. The baked potato was the only thing I could actually enjoy. The broccoli had a strange, unpleasant taste and went untouched. My mom would genuinely recommend O'Charley's for the shrimp and grits. But for anything else -- especially the prime rib -- I'd suggest steering clear. Or if you do go, just play it safe and get a baked potato. Very disappointing experience, especially for a $32 prime rib in a small Kentucky town.
