Went for breakfast while in town, haven't been in years and don't love the changes. Little things like the silverware being in little bags instead of on the table, or wrapped in a napkin seems silly, but used to make it seem like more care was put into it. The check coming right away and being encouraged to pay by scanning and entering credit card didn't help either. Food was fine, not as well seasoned as I remember. Also odd that every breakfast comes with pancakes or biscuits and gravy. Was looking for a lower carb option and there aren't options like that. Didn't even see an option to get eggs as a side a make my own combo without these. Comfort Food with a Side of Hit-or-Miss It's been a while since I sat down for a full meal at Cracker Barrel, but this visit reminded me that some of the old favorites don't always hit the way they used to. The standout? Our server Stephanie. After my peach mimosa arrived overly syrupy and flat, she offered to let us mix the next one at the table -- and it was so much better. (She confirmed it's optional -- definitely ask for the syrup on the side!) Another small disappointment: they no longer serve lemonade in the signature frosted mugs. Not a dealbreaker, but it took away a bit of the charm. On the plate: Bacon -- Perfectly cooked, no notes. Pancakes -- Looked great, but bland. Needed heavy syrup help. Berry pancakes (not mine) -- My dining partner admitted it was overkill. The mixed berries turned into mush, and they said strawberries alone would've been a better move. Pinto beans -- Usually my comfort go-to, but not this time. I didn't order greens, just beans -- and they were dry, flavorless, and not worth the cost or calories. I sent them back. (Check the pics -- you'll see what I mean.) And yes -- when Stephanie asked if I wanted a box to take the rest home, I almost said, "To do what? Reheat mid?" A wonderful throw back restaurant. A must try! The feel is a very rustic, old country atmosphere. Plenty of early American on the walls and wooden tables and chairs. There's even a huge fireplace in the dining room and rocking chairs for sale on the front porch. To enter, you're directed through an old country store with a wide variety of articles. Clothing, small toys, records and nostalgic candy and soda pop, to name a few. We scored a couple of outfits for the grand baby, both on sale, and an impressive old time ceramic coffee mug. A bit shocking to find Halloween merchandise right inside the door...on July 17th? That was until they pointed out that there will be two Christmas displays coming out before the end of this month. The food is more than adequate. Just as good as home cooked. A decent value for the price. I hustled a free Peach Cobbler off the waitress by solving the golf tee puzzle three times in a row. The manager told me that she was impressed and therefore paid for it. No freebies! I'll gladly accept a free dessert from the CBOC corporation, but not from this woman that is obviously working hard to put food on her table at home. Made a pitstop at Cracker Barrel and it's a great place to grab a bite. I must not have been there in a while, so was surprised that they have a build your own breakfast! It comes with eggs, sausage and gravy, and then a choice of meat and side. The ham was salty for my liking, but everything else was good! My kids loved the peg game and there is so much to look at around the store. It's a great place to stop by during a roadtrip and stretch your legs out for a bit. read more

This used to be one of my favorite places to eat. They have ruined the cole slaw. Cole slaw should be chopped fine and be served with an adequate amount of dressing, preferably on the sweet side It should not be large slices of tough cabbage, served dry which is what the Cracker Barrel is doing I assume this was a corporate decision made by someone with no taste buds or someone trying to cut costs I ordered a salad in place of slaw and they don't offer a French dressing . I ordered the white fish that came with three sides. It tasted very good and not fishy. It was a rather large piece of fish. My sides were the Brussels sprouts with kale and it was delicious! The broccoli was steamed and good and the hash brown casserole was yummy! Biscuits were tasty. Service was attentive and friendly. A great place for a delicious meal ! Today we went for late lunch/early dinner. I ordered the Southern fried chicken dinner. It was double dipped batter which had a slight spicy flavor. BEWARE - PARKING LOT THEFT - SMASH AND GRAB! While parked at Cracker Barrel on July 8, 2023, my SUV and another customer's SUV were broken into - in mid-afternoon, on a bright, sunny day, with numerous customers entering and exiting Cracker Barrel. Thieves broke the back passenger window (driver's side) and grabbed everything they could fit through the back window - pulling items from the back seat and hatch, including electronics equipment, travel bags, totes, etc. We were on our way home from a conference and stopped at Cracker Barrel for a bite to eat. Our vehicle was locked with the alarm set - the alarm WILL NOT sound if someone breaks a window (most alarms won't) - so the alarm didn't go off. The other customer who was robbed also had the same types of items stolen - electronics, travel bags, etc., with the same back window broken. I feel that Cracker Barrel has an obligation to post numerous signs in the parking lot and on the front door that their parking lot is a high theft location, with theft even occurring in broad daylight. One of their security cameras was dirty, the other didn't pick up the license plate no. of the vehicle. We filed a police report, but the process with our insurance is now an arduous one, and the police told us we will most likely never see our belongings again. My wife lost her favorite gold necklace with the initial "B" charm and a turquoise and pink two-tone Dooney bag (pics attached). If you see these items, please contact the Pickerington, OH police dept. IF YOU HAVE OUT-OF-STATE LICENSE PLATES ON YOUR VEHICLE, PARK AT THIS CRACKER BARREL AT YOUR OWN RISK. Better yet, eat elsewhere. Police told us that thieves target out-of-state vehicles primarily. If you have a trunk, put all your belongings in your trunk, or take them with you into the restaurant. We have tinted back windows, but they still broke in. We surmised that thieves were in the parking lot when we arrived, waited for us to enter the restaurant, and then robbed us. Cracker Barrel is always a unique experience, something about walking into a general store is always interesting. I've been to several locations, but this was my first time at this restaurant. The decor was on par with every other restaurant, old timey trinkets and photos. Our service was good, drinks were always full and our server was very attentive. As for the food, it was as tasty and the biscuits seemed like they just came out of the oven. I don't usually find myself in Pickerington but I was going to see a movie nearby so decided on Cracker Barrel for dinner. I've had CB many many times in my life but this was the first time at this location. The restaurant was pretty empty on a Monday night but we were sad at a tiny 2 top which seemed odd. Our server asked if we wanted to move to a larger table and we said no but later wish we had. Once the plates start piling up there is such little room. But beyond that we had great service and the food was really good. There was a mixup on one of my sides but it was resolved easily. I went a couple weeks with a group of 7 people at lunchtime. We had about a 25,'inure wait because they only have 1 table for large parties over 6. Seemed strange that they couldn't push a couple smaller tables to accommodate us but we didn't mind because their country store kept us busy shopping. Lots of really cute and unique merchandise. The surroundings are comfy and quaint, even for a national chain, complete with hardwood tables and antique store furnishings. It's both intimate and gregarious, allowing for both conversationalists and kibbitzers to feel at home. We ordered Grilled Rainbow Trout and the new Sothern Fried Chicken. Both meals came with two sides and cornbread. Both the trout and chicken were yummy, but let's start with the fish. The Rainbow Trout was char grilled, and came without bones but with a bottom layer of skin. It tasted ftresh, and the flakes of fish were grassy, like and fresh lake-caught game fish. It was easy to clean the plate, as every bite had a fine, blackened lake fish taste. Likewise, the Southern Fried Chicken was fantastic, with well-breaded pieces of chicken (four ok f them: breast, thigh, wing, and leg) that melt in the mouth. The breading, seasoned generously with salt and pepper, crackled in the mouth, gushing forth with chicken goodness. The serving sizes were generous and the total bill came to $26 +tip. This was the first time I tried dinner at the Cracker Barrel. And I'm glad I did! The chicken breast was topped with cranberries which sounded questionable to me but it worked. It was one of the best pieces of chicken I have ever had which says a lot as I never usually order chicken because most places overcook it. I ordered greens on the side, which I love, but they had a funny taste and when I told the waitress she offered me to pick a new side. So I chose the fried okra which was the bomb. Our waitress went above and beyond to make sure that we were satisfied. And as you know the Cracker Barrel is always busy. But our waitress, Stephanie, was very attentive! I'm usually here for breakfast and will easily give this place praise for one of the greater breakfast combos (in my book). I alternate between the Sunrise Sampler and the Double Meat breakfast. I love all of the meats, so I have to have each one (and extra portions). The winner here is their Hashbrown Casserole. That's an absolute must, considering I usually get grits when I have to choose between that and hash browns. Between the swinging chairs outside, the gift shop and the fireplace, it's a very relaxing environment. I particularly enjoy visiting during Christmas season because they have a beautiful arrangement of holiday items that you really can't find anywhere else. My friend and I often meet here on Friday mornings, from time to time and I look forward to every visit.
