Do not get the meatloaf here. I continue to be disappointed in most of the CB's we go to whenever I get meatloaf. Covering up meatloaf with ketchup after it's burnt does not make it any better. We came in on a Monday night before Christmas. It was pretty Hoppin here, pretty busy. They got all six of us in in pretty quick order. I think we might've waited five minutes. The waitress was friendly and attentive. She got my little Girlies the kids menus, took the drinks order right away. We didn't have to wait long for the drinks. During the meal they were attentive and friendly. My sweetie says the meal was good. She got the Lemon pepper grilled rainbow trout. They were out of one of the sides but she was able to pick a different one she liked. My second oldest had Country fried shrimp. It was good. She got mac & cheese and cinnamon apples for her sides. The Mac and cheese was done right, it was soft. It was very cheesy. The cinnamon apples were like the inside of an apple pie. My second youngest (A.k.a. third oldest) ordered Fried shrimp. She says it was good. I think it's late enough at night that all the kids are just saying "good". Haven't been here for a while, think I was grouchy for some reason about it. I want to start off by saying the servers are NOT the problem here, as ours was once again excellent. Because we generally like CB's food, we keep giving them chances, and we keep getting let down by the Piqua location. This time, my husband and I stopped in while out running errands during the week. We ordered the buffalo mac & cheese, plus a sample plate of sides. Our food arrived very quickly after we ordered. The food was all either cold or lukewarm at best. Everything. Nothing was hot or even warm. The chicken tenders looked & tasted like they had been fried the day before & reheated. The meat was flat & translucent, rather than plump & white. We ate as much as we could stand, & left the rest. We did not complain, because this is not a server problem...clearly the kitchen staff and management does not care at all about quality, so what good would it do to complain to them. I completed an online complaint and got a pat reply and a coupon for one entree, which we will obviously never use, because why would we? Even if it's free, if the food is poor quality it's not worth ordering. And furthermore, the low temperatures leave me concerned about food safety. read more

The food was not very good. The Hamburger steak was over cooked, almost burnt. The sides weren't very tasty either. Dried out. The biscuits which are usually reliable were dry, and hard. The plates were so hot the waiter almost dropped it when he served me. There's the answer to the quality if the food. It sat under the hotlamps too long I suspect. Which brings me to the service. Very slow. The ambiance? What can i say, it's a cracker Barrel. In fairness to the chain I have been eating there for over 25 years and generally the food has been very good. Well, server shouldn't be a server. Took over 30 minutes to get my meal. I get my meal and the chicken is still raw in the center. Haven't seen my server since I got my food to notify them of it. Others around me are getting great service and have come and gone. I normally come here once a week and lately service has been going down hill. Worst experience we've ever had at a Cracker Barrel when it came to the food. I had the cheeseburger and asked for it to have lettuce and mayo. Brought it out and all it had on it was the cheese. The server apologized and went back and got me some lettuce and mayo. The lettuce was so small that was given to me that it didn't even fit across the bottom of the bun. And it was limp. I got the loaded steak fries for my side and they were overcooked. Plus there were probably only ten fries total. They also forgot the ranch dressing that was supposed to come with it. I had to have the server once again go and get something the kitchen forgot. Our server was very nice and helpful but the food was just awful. read more

Let me start by saying most of the time we go to this Cracker Barrel everything is good. We have a lot of trouble at the Lima Cracker Barrel but not this one. I think that's why I am so disappointed. We have the app so we put our name on the wait list and received a conformation. When we arrived we went to the hostess stand and found out our name was not on the list, ok a small mistake so we added our name to the list at the hostess stand and walked around the store. After 15 minutes or we went back to check how much longer. Our name was missing again! After some complaining they said they would set us next, but of coarse we had to stand and watch them clean the table (not a big deal but it just added to the frustration). The waitress was nice and prompt, no complaints about her service but the food took forever. We were at the restaurant for over 2 hours (for meatloaf and French toast). and to beat all my carrots were under cooked. My wife requires oxygen so I had to go to the car for a second tank adding to the frustration. I hope this location is going down hill like the Lima location! read more

Service is hot or miss, food is mediocre and take out orders are never right. Always check your order before leaving. Take out twice in a year, my only two visits to Cracker Barrel piqua and both times meals were wrong and the answer is always come back and we will make it right . Been Going to this Cracker Barrel for years it is just up the street from my house. Today I went with my roomate and she got chicken tenderloins with mac& cheese with coleslaw. There were three little tenderloins that looked like they could have came froma pigeon about half of the portion of mac & cheese that is mormaly served. My chicken and dumplings with babby carrots and coleslaw consised of four dumplings and two pieces of chicken with eight babby carrots. I have always enjoyed my visits to cracker barrel and cant recall a bad experience but if this is what their portions have become I'm done. read more

Piqua, OHIO - This Cracker Barrel used to be a favorite spot to visit. We went there regularly until we started seeing things like dirty tables and the service went downhill. Maybe they get so busy they forget to care about seating people at clean tables. Being seated at a table that is sticky with food particles still on it is one of the worst things to deal with. Do not order the sampler to go. The meatloaf is disgusting. It's literally mystery meat crumbles. The ham is UNDER this mystery meat, and the chicken and dumplings was all dumplings. The worst part is they put ketchup, without my request, on my meatloaf and since said meatloaf was sitting next to the dumplings they are covered in ketchup, too. So gross. All I wanted was a home cooked meal and that is not what I got! Yes, we were seated right away since they were not busy. Food arrives and my chicken & dumplings are barely warm. Since no bread came with my companions pancake breakfast of over easy eggs I decided to ask for my rolls or cornbread. No wait staff in sight. My 8'year old great niece drank all her chocolate milk & wanted some water. No employees in sight except a buss boy. My companions ran out of coke and again no wait staff in sight. Brittany looked at us from the kitchen area but never came to our table. Finally she appears and I ask for a box and the check and to go water and to go cup for my cola. Got the check and waited some more on the rest. I explained to Brittany I was not leaving a tip and why. She thought she brought us more cola and was sorry. She never even asked if everything tasted all right or did we need anything else. She never even came back to our table until we were completely done! If they had been busy then ok, I get the lack of service. They were not busy. There were empty tables all around us. I have eaten at Cracker Barrel's and forgotten to tip. Drove two exits up the interstate, turned around and returned with my tip because the service was so good. I had the same poor service at the Miller Lane, Dayton Ohio location earlier this year. If you are in the service business and want to retain your already loyal customer base then you need to provide at least good service. New customers are even harder to retain and with this quality service will not return. I do not intend to and I am sorry for that. Good food even when a little cold but very poor service. P.S. My 8 year old great niece wants to know why the kids placemat/menu was for the winter season when it was the middle of summer in Ohio. The host did not seem to know either. read more
