I had a very disappointing experience at Cracker Barrel while celebrating a birthday with a group of seven. Unfortunately, things went wrong from the start. Our waitress accidentally dropped one of the meals on the way to the table, which delayed everything. While we waited for the replacement, we tried the fried pickles, but they were so overly salty they were almost inedible. Things only got worse from there--one of the chicken meals that did make it to the table was clearly undercooked and nearly raw. We sent it back, and when the replacement meal for the dropped dish finally arrived, it was also undercooked and had to be sent back as well. The manager did come over and offered two vouchers for a free appetizer as an apology, which was appreciated, but it didn't make up for the overall experience. Between the long wait, multiple food issues, and concerns about food safety, it completely took away from what was supposed to be a special occasion. Understand it was Army Basic Training Family Day and it could be busy but.... Had to wait over 25mins for a table Waitress came by quickly, took our orders and then the wait started... It wasn't crazy busy but we waited well over 1hr for our food. The orders weren't complicated and when one order was served incorrectly (fried egg instead of scrambles and bacon instead of sausage) she took the plate back and within 30 seconds reappeared with a new plate. Extremely slow service at this location. We showed up early enough that there were tons of empty tables. Took the waitress 10min to get our drinks (waters) to the table. We placed our order (three of us) and 40m later it came out. We were on our way home to Illinois from Branson and stopped here thinking it would be the same reliable Cracker Barrel service you get anywhere and instead our arrival time to home changed from 140 to 3pm. Dinner: Had a waiter that served me cold gravy. He never came back to check on me. I finally got his attention and told him to bring me some gravy. He said they're working on it. I also asked for a refill on my lemonade. After a ten minute he pours water in my glass- no lemonade. I never got the gravy. I then asked the Host to please retrieve my bill. It's been years since I came here. Still the same ol Cracker Barrel and I love it. I ordered the Cheesy Bacon Homestyle Fried Chicken with cole slaw and fried okra. I ate everything on my plate. The biscuits were so warm and soft, I ate both. My only criticism is the waitress. She took forever for our waters, she only refilled once and that was the only time she came to our table. She had the table next to us and they waited way longer to get their water then they had to wait to order food. Other then that, it was a great experience. We will definitely be visiting again. The restaurant was clean and had old decorations that gave it a rustic look to it. I just enjoyed the old time feeling again. read more

Southern fried chicken was good. The shrimp dinner was good, she didn't want the fries because she had vegetables soup. It came out without a spoon and crackers. Didn't taste like the Cracker Barrel vegetable soup she was used to have. Service was pretty good considering she was new. Manager stopped by and we asked him why the handicap parking was at the end of the building where you have to drive around to find it. There was 6 parking spots right in front of the door for to go parking and regular parking. The manager said that putting the handicap parking the furthest from the front door was the corporate idea! The inside was typical Cracker Barrel style. The men's bathroom could have been cleaned as there was yellow on the floor where you have to stand. read more

Went here for lunch on the way home (STL Metro) from Branson MO. Ordered Southern fried chicken, Shrimp Skillet, child's Pancakes and Hot Chocolate, child's Mac & Cheese, Sweet Tea, Lemonade. First let me say the waitress was a sweetheart. But it took almost an hour for food to come out. So you would expect it to be pipping hot. Especially the Fried Chicken. The chicken was mildly hot. But ,the chicken was similar to Banquet Frozen Fried Chicken. Edible, but a disappointment. The Shrimp Skillet was bland, the Corn on the cob was frozen corn. Fresh sweet corn in MO is abundant and super cheap right now. The child's Mac & Cheese was a healthy portion, I was impressed. But, my grand daughter had Mac & cheese at least 4 times over past 5 days. This Mac & Cheese was by far the worst. My granddaughter started crying because she didn't like it and was too shy to say so. She is 7 years old. The macaroni was definitely overcooked to mush and the cheese did not taste like cheese. The Hot Chocolate was large, had whipped cream and chocolate syrup. My other granddaughter enjoyed it. But her pancakes again tasted more like frozen pancakes than fresh. So while we did eat and did not complain, I would not recommend this restaurant. The decor is very nice with lots of old item from the turn of the century and early 1900s. The store has lots of cool stuff. Loved the Halloween decor. It was unique. read more

17 August 2025 Saint Robert, MO. Made reservations for a birthday party of 23 people 4 days in advance. Three of those people with birthdays. When we arrived the manager changed our location from a reserved secluded back area to "General Dining". Not happy! The tables had to be arranged as we arrived to accommodate the other patrons in the general dining area. No privacy for our party! Our waitress worked hard to accommodate the 23 guest because the manager decided they were to busy to allow another person to help her with the 23 people. Once we got our food it was great! When it was time for the free birthday cake and ice cream the manager told the waitress that he would only honor those with a birthday that day, not the day before. So I had to pay for the other two so they would not be left out. When it was time to go and pay up front, none of the tickets would work! My son ended up paying for everybody because we had enough of waiting and disappointments. read more

So CB now has a couple of healthy menu items which are great if you're trying to eat lean! I got the grilled chicken tenders and some veggies and potatoes. They of course have great cornbread and biscuits as well. The food was good, not great. The service at least when we went was slow, but people were nice when they did come by. Every time I've been to this Cracker Barrel location I've had an overall good experience. When something was missing, it got fixed right away. I don't think I've had food from here that was undercooked or was not cooked right. However, take-out is a whole different story. I've ordered here so many times over the phone and they've got maybe 1/5 orders correct. I wish this could be somehow fixed because it's really annoying when I look in the bag after I pay and I am missing multiple things or the order is completely wrong because then I have to another 15-30 minutes for them to correct my original order. Would you live on the island all your life, born and raised and then you get to venture off to the Midwest and see this place as a restaurant that turn into an amusement for your mind because everything inside here looks like a museum and it reminds you of what you see in the movies or what you watch in American movies that is very old school with a lot of things hanging from the ceiling like a museum so you can spend all evening Just browsing around the restaurant in the store and reflect on history and American history. I did a takeout order, and the food was amazing because the portion was large than I expected and the flavor was right and perfect as that was recommended by the waitress because it was my first time there and I wanted to try their most popular country style American dish. So I ordered the chicken with gravy and potato traditional American style dish country style and it was amazing very savory a lot of flavor and the mashed potatoes with the gravy as well as the corn itself satisfies me and keeps on celebrating my glands. Stopped in for breakfast with my nephew, got seated right away, the waitress took some time as she was busy attending to a large crowd, but did stop by to let us know she'll be with us in few minutes. We both got Grandpa's Country Fried Breakfast, I got one with Country Fried Chicken and my nephew got the Country Fried Steak. I actually liked the Country Fried Chicken more then the steak, the chicken was juicy and fried perfectly. The gravy could have used more seasoning though.
