The Campfire Shrimp platter

The waitress Redd was amazing! The food was great, and the customer service was amazing.

Service and food have been excellent on every visit. Atmosphere is always nice and the staff kept everything clean and tidy.

Looks appetizing, doesn't it?

Ate at this CB at least 3 times a week for 6 month when I was working in the area a few years ago. Not the same. Got breakfast for supper. Pancakes cooked on a dirty grill. Scrambled eggs not scrambled. Bacon looked like they took leftovers from the morning and put them in the deep frier to heat it up. Table was dirty. The only good thing was the waitress. She was great. To add the place was almost empty.

Empty cups. No refills.

Great breakfast this morning. We had the Grandma's morning sampler. Which was great. And our server, Armand made us feel right at home.

Also had the house gumbo which had seafood, chicken and sausage. It was so good, the flavors complex, the roux thick. Could tell a lot of locals were there because the staff knew everyone but they were really nice to me too.

It's the kind of eatery where the waitresses call you "baby" which is a respected Deep South Tradition. I ordered the 1/2 po boy & 1/2 gumbo lunch with a side dish (I chose baked potato salad) for $14. The food arrived about 10 minutes later. My sandwich was a grilled shrimp po boy on bread that tasted like it was from Gambino's. It was very good taste wise and I enjoyed it. Ditto on the cup of seafood gumbo with shrimp in it and with a good tasting roux too. Finally the baked potato salad was creamy, cool and flavorful. Altogether this was a very good meal. On the front door is a sign saying that they charge an extra 4% for credit card usage. Also, on my check were two prices, one for cash and the other for credit. While I detest restaurants that charge extra for credit card usage, I will give Gumbo Pot credit in that they clearly disclose that fee on the door and on the bill but I still hate it.

There are not a lot of Yelpers in Vicksburg but Rusty's had some great reviews so we decide to try it. Nice location near the river and plenty of street parking. We were seated quickly after our full party arrived. There is nothing fancy about this place but clean and simple. When you walk in you see the desserts in the cooler in the front and they all look delicious and homemade. We saw some dinner rolls being brought to the table but we were not offered any so we asked and they are free. So make sure to ask. They are yummy little yeast rolls with some sweet (maybe honey) butter. I tried a Bahama mama that was tasty and we liked the fried calamari (7/10). This place is a mostly seafood restaurant with a few good options if you don't or can't eat seafood. We had two in our party that does not eat seafood and they enjoyed the blacked chicken. The mozzarella sticks were also tasty. The start of the dinner was the Redfish with the craw fish cream sauce. DE-licious!! I enjoyed the seafood pasta. It's a lemon butter sauce not creamy but I liked it! It came with a side so I tried a cup of gumbo for $3 up-charge. It was worth it. Very good gumbo with sausage, shrimp, scallops, and an oyster! Looking forward to going back!

The fried green tomatoes with the crab sauce were fantastic as was the gumbo, fried catfish and blackened chicken. Save a little room for the bread pudding with the Makers Mark sauce, the best bp I've ever had and the largest. Better plan on sharing it. Despite it being busy our server was friendly and attentive. Parking is street so you may have to walk a bit Furnishings were good and you don't feel squeezed in.

The old antebellum house, a happy home, was quiet and the perfect ambiance. We dined on grilled grouper and shrimp and grits and both meals were just right. Joseph Emory Davis, patriarchal brother to Confederate Pres Jefferson Davis, the owner of Hurricane Plantation in Warren County, Jefferson Davis made his final speech from Anchuca's front balcony, near the Vicksburg Battlefield. We got here early and parked in the small parking lot. We wandered around all of the beautiful rooms from the period. We were seated in the library. Brunch entrées included a small salad or fruit cup, and a dessert. We enjoyed our salads with balsamic dressing. For an entrée, I chose seafood, gumbo, and my husband, the shrimp and grits. The cheesy, creamy grits with the best I ever tasted, and my husband doesn't like shrimp, but he devoured them. We're trying both desserts, the warm peach cobbler alamode and the white chocolate bread pudding were obscene. Our meal was delicious, service, impeccable, and the setting spectacular.
