I had a flat tire so I was stuck near the Discount Tire on Elliot Rd when I saw Crackers Cafe across the street. I'm not mad anymore that my morning was a disaster because I had an excellent brunch! I am back at Crackers as I am several times a month and just need to comment on the service and a new item for breakfast. First Bonta was my server and she was excellent. I asked for a recommendation and she asked what I typically order and then recommended the Tamale Carnitas Benny. Grab a napkin to drool into and then plan to get in your car. And now is a great time because it was the special and does not appear on the menue. This thing is built on a cheese corn tamale, which basically would be enough, and then they cover that with a basted egg (the eggs benedict approach), some shredded Carnitas, Green onions, chilies and a truly great hollandaise sauce. I had mine with refried beans and cheese. Just imagine the aroma of that mixture when it arrives at your table with the wonderful coffee they serve. Ate here yesterday for brunch. We got there right before they closed. We got our food really quick and it was pretty tasty. I had an omelette. Their potatoes are really good. They have lots of gluten free options. The air conditioner wasn't working so it was a bit warm in there but other than that I'd say it's a pretty good place for brunch. read more

Yay! Finally satisfied my breakfast burrito craving! I've been here a bunch of times. Most of the times the host is on the phone/ busy when we go in and doesn't even acknowledge us which I don't think is best practice.. we get seated in decent timing nonetheless. Servers have always been very nice though. The one we got last time (I don't remember her name, whoops!) gave me a sample of the OJ to see if I wanted to order it. I thought that was thoughtful. I think the place has a surprise factor because you don't necessarily expect it to have delicious food considering the atmosphere isn't new or modern. It has an aged type of feel. Which doesn't attract me. I drove past this place for a long time uninterested because it doesn't draw you in. BUT thank goodness for Yelp! The food has been yummy yummy every time I come. The only issue I've had is freshness. People want piping hot pancakes and waffles so they should really make sure they bring them out right away. I've experienced cold French toast, waffles and pancakes here. They're good tasting though! & you expect fresh when the wait times to even get your food on the table are so long.. We came to eat on a Sunday, which is obviously going to be a busy time during brunch hours. We were able to snag a seat at the bar without a wait, so we were excited. The staff was SO frantic trying to handle everything that it took a while to put in our order and the guy who took our order was too busy to even stop to do it, so he did so while making some coffee drinks at the bar. Throughout our meal, he was yelling to different customers at and near the bar and talking out loud about all the things he had to do. Once the food finally came out, my eggs on my Eggs Benedict were room temperature at the most, so the whole dish was cold by the time I just began eating. My boyfriend had the crab cake Eggs Benedict and loved it, but I think it was the crab cakes that kept his dish warm. I couldn't even say anything to the staff because everyone was too busy to stop and talk to customers for longer than a second or two. All in all, not a good dining out experience and I don't think I would come back since there are plenty of other brunch options in the area. Three stars because they had a good menu selection (besides the fact they didn't have any non-dairy milk so I didn't order any coffee...), the food had good flavor, and I think there's potential here but they need to be better staffed and ensure food is making its way out quickly. Also, the man that seemed to be the manager was incredibly calm and kind and was supporting the staff as needed, which I think shows they had good support leadership wise. read more

Been coming here for about 7 years. Today was not a good day .. Too many staff turnovers ..might be why my breakfast order was all messed up. Over easy on the eggs . They served me over cooked eggs . I'm giving 4 stars for the service not for the food, the food was great but after being seated for 10 minutes nobody came by to give us a menu. After watching waiters and waitresses breeze right by us we decided we didn't want to eat here. As we got up to and were leaving the waitress helping other tables asked if we'd been helped yet and after telling her no she said she would find the waiter that was supposed to help us. She apologized and went and grabbed waiters and menus even though you could clearly she was swamped. She apologized and soon our waiter came and had no urgency at all nor did he apologize for taking so long. He took our order and then never saw him for awhile meanwhile the waitress the helped us brought us over a cinnamon roll and said it was on the house and apologized again even though it wasn't her fault. We ate our meal and still hadn't seen the waiter and had someone else bring the food out. We ate our meal and noticed another table our waiter was helping was raising there had to get someone to bring there check. The waiter finally showed up for them and then we waited on our check. After paying I left a basic 15% tip and then looked for the waitress that was so helpful to give her a tip as well but it was getting close to closing and her tables had all left so I didn't get a chance to. Needless to say if it wasn't for her hard work and great attitude we would of never ate here. This place was recommended by a friend so I'm glad we tried it as the food was good. read more

I went with my daughter to drop off her car to Tempe Honda for maintenance. We had some time to kill and decided to catch some breakfast. My daughter found Crackers on Yelp (she's learning from the best. Hahah). We walk in and nothing really stood out to me but a bunch of people outside waiting to be seated. Host was nice and told us that it would be 15 minutes. We got seated in about 15 so that was cool. When I try a new breakfast joint I try to find something that they are known for. Anyone can make an omelette so... I tried something off of their September Specials menu. Brown Sugar Banana Cakes with two eggs and bacon. The pancakes actually had slices of bananas cooked inside. I really couldn't taste the brown sugar. So they weren't too sweet which is good for me. Dumping the syrup on these cakes made it pretty good. Not great pancakes. Didn't really stand out but good. I had two scrambled eggs with a couple of strips of bacon. Bacon was thick and pretty good. I also got a side of Corned beef hash. It was okay. Nothing special. My daughter was going to order an omelette but I convinced her to figure out if this is a good places or not. Anyone can make an omelette. So she decided to try the Crab Cake Benedict. It came with two crab cakes and some sliced potatoes. I grabbed a bite and it was pretty good. My daughter really liked it. Ate one Crab Cake and gobbled up the potatoes. Took the other Cake for another day. She did say that the Crab Cakes were not even close to when she went to Maryland but this is AZ and she liked it. So it was good. The service was pretty good. Our server greeted us right away. Got us our drinks and coffee. Checked up on us and got our food out pretty quickly. So I was cool with that. So overall, good food and good service. The atmosphere didn't really stand out to me. Standard breakfast joint. Nothing special. We got out of there in about an hour or so. So perfect timing when our car was fixed. So not bad. Would I come back? Possibly. If I'm around the area but wouldn't go out of my way to get there. Enjoy. read more

Found this place because of Yelp and would come back in a heart beat. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend the cinnamon roll. I ordered the classic Benedict with potatoes. The potatoes were seasoned and cooked to perfection. So good that I asked the waitress how they are made. Also tried the bacon breakfast sandwich. Would recommend as well.
