Me and some friends stopped by Craft Land the other night after dinner, and it ended up being a really fun time. It was my first visit, and exploring Houston's Chinatown at night just adds to the vibe. Bright lights, great energy, and cool little places like this tucked into plazas. We came mainly for the claw machines, and they definitely delivered. These aren't your usual scammy machines where you walk away empty-handed and annoyed. The win rates here are actually decent. We saw a bunch of people pulling out prizes, and we managed to win a few cute plushies ourselves. There's a wide variety of machines too, with everything from small trinkets to giant stuffed animals. This place could be a fun date spot if you're both a little playful or competitive, but honestly it's perfect for kids. The atmosphere is light and casual, and there's plenty to keep them entertained. One thing I didn't totally get was the "tufting" part of the name. After looking online it looks like you can do rug making workshops but I'm not sure where they'd host this as the place was full of claw machines. That being said we didn't check that part out, but maybe next time. There's so many claw machine shops in Bellaire now, but this is one of the original and best ones! Each pull will cost you a little under $1 (two tokens, and $50 gets you 130 = 65 pulls). We split the $50 pack for 3 people and ended up with about 15 total plushies across different machines. They have a trade-in system where about 35 trade-ins gets you a large plushie. I still feel like the large plushie machine is a bit rigged on timing, but we had a blast with all of the normal machines. read more

The selection of plushies here remain one of the best for the claw games. The pricing structure is very good, too. For $20, we got plenty of coins for two kids to share. When one of my boys kept trying (and failing) for the same plush, a worker came and helped him by reorganizing the plush pile so that he would be more successful. We left with three keychains (one coin per play) and got seven plushies (2 coins per play), which is what we got last time for our $20 as well. I forgot exactly how many coins we got but they tried about 2-3 plays per plushies won. A few times it took 4 or 5 tries to win and almost always someone came to help by then. It was very crowded but they were good at keeping an eye out to make sure the kids left happy and not disappointed. This is still my go-to for claw machine games oyt of the 10+ Ive visited in Houston and the surrounding areas. I've visited Houston several times, and each time, I stop at a place like Teso to play claw machines. It's super addictive, and before I know it, I've spent hundreds of dollars! On my latest trip, I discovered Craft Land. I arrived Saturday 2/15 evening around 5 PM and spent $20 for about 46 tokens. I was pleasantly surprised by the claw machines here; you don't lose every time. I'd say the chances of winning are about 4 out of 10 plays. Each play costs 2 tokens, and if you win, you get cute small plush toys. Each small plush toy equals 1 point, and if you collect enough points, you can trade them in for larger prizes, like bigger Pokémon plush toys. I had my eye on a big Bulbasaur, which cost 45 points. I kept playing and eventually spent $300 to collect enough points for it. However, I noticed a staff member watching me closely as I won, almost as if he didn't like that I was succeeding. I brushed it off and continued playing. The next day, I came back because I wanted to get another big Pokémon, Espeon, but it was already claimed. I spoke to the manager, Jessica (I think that was her name), who said she only had Flareon available for 35 points. I focused on winning enough prizes to get Flareon, but then I saw it placed on a shelf labeled as 40 points, which made me lose interest. I found a claw machine that was much easier to win from, so I kept playing that one. It had a capybara coin pouch as a prize, which didn't attract many players since everyone else was after plush toys. However, the same staff member (short hair with glasses) kept staring at me, making me uncomfortable. Eventually, he asked another staff member to stand in front of the machine, blocking people from playing it. He later emptied that machine to prevent anyone from playing anymore. Is there a policy against winning too much? I had spent around $500 over the two days, so I figured redeeming a couple of big Pokémon plush toys shouldn't be an issue. When I finally gathered around 30 points, I showed interest in a Cyndaquil, but there wasn't a price sticker on it. I asked another staff member how many points it required, and after checking with the manager Jessica, he said it was 35 points. I bought another $20 in tokens, and once I had enough prizes for 35 points, I went back to redeem Cyndaquil. This time, the same manager told me it was 40 points. I was frustrated because she had just said it was 35! So, I bought $30 more in tokens. I asked the manager if I could get a stamp (if you spend $50, you get 1 point stamp; $100 gets you 2 stamps) since I had spent $50, but she said it had to be in the same transaction. I thought that was odd since it was still $50 spent overall. In the end, I played enough to redeem Cyndaquil for 40 points. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Craft Land if you're hoping to win a lot of prizes. The staff seemed to hover over me when I won, making the experience uncomfortable. While some employees were friendly and helpful, others took their roles too seriously and showed annoyance when customers won. The manager wasn't very welcoming either and frequently changed the point system, leading to confusion. I'd suggest checking out Claw Wonderland across the street instead. The staff there are much friendlier, and I had a better chance of winning without feeling scrutinized. read more

You can trade in plushies for any on their shelves or trade in for points to save for later trade-ins. Also, if you get a plushie from the machine, you can actually trade it in for another one in the same machine!!! I've only been to 1-2 other ones but this one has me hooked! I visited this spot 2nd during a recent visit to some new businesses in Chinatown. Once you walk up the steps onto the 2nd floor, it's 2 doors down from the business directly in front of the steps. I was able to get my first plush within a couple times, so pretty easy I would say. The difference is this space isn't as large as the other popular one and requires twice as many coins, but you receive 2 tokens for every dollar. Basically they're the same price per play in the long run. Maybe the best part about the playing is the trade in at the end of your play for some nicer plush. The best deal is to exchange more money for tokens since you receive bonus tokens and special coins. They do have a special right now for a free plush with a Google review. read more

YMMV but so far Craft Land has the best win rates in my experience. On average the claws have pretty strong grip making it possible to win multiple times from the same machine. Though it costs 2 coins per play for the plushies, you're guaranteed a win if you're paying attention so you get your money's worth - unlike other places where each play costs just one coin but the grabbers are flimsy so you rarely ever win. You can keep your wins, trade them for bigger plushies, or trade them in for a punch card that shows your points so you can come back, earn more points and trade it all in for a bigger plushy. On our recent trip back to bellaire Chinatown. The kids wanted to check out craft land since it remodeled. They have added a few more machines which made it feel really cramp. The kids and I were bumping into other guest. Trying to navigate the really tight quarter. Their machines takes two tokens to play compare to Clawmania kingdom which is located next door only uses one token per play. We had spend $100 dollars and walked away with only 3 plushies. We asked one of the worker politely if they could fluff up the machines for us to help my son who was struggle to win anything he spend over $20 on that single machine. The young gentleman reluctantly to help was very rude and unprofessional that was the only time we asked and it was not busy either. We will definitely be not coming back. The plushies that we did won ,seems very low quality, stitches came apart where they stuffed the plushies. The staff really needs to be trained on customer service. read more
