After washing and applying the supposed necessary solution, it did not take. She wanted me to again sit under the bowl (very uncomfortable) and repeat the process. I mentioned I was literally freezing in the bowl area and made her aware of the extreme coldness with with wet hair. She said "she should adjust the temperature" but that did not happen. Ultimately, I am now doing my best to stave off a cold and looks like I may lose the battle. ""No hint of any illness in any way prior to getting my hair done. The following day I experienced chills and a sore throat. Bottom line, it is always better to under promise and over deliver than to under deliver and overpromise. Not likely to go back primarily due to frigid climate.

There was a young lady in the salon that I had not noticed who apparently complained and felt unsafe. I explained to Erica that as per the condition of my release I had to get 2 negative tests in a matter of 1 week but I was still thrown out of the salon. It is note worthy to mention that neither the young lady herself nor Erica did offer proof that both were recently tested and were negative. I was the only person who knew their Covid status as I had gotten testers that very same day oddly enough. I never received an apology from Erica either so I definitely do not recommend as service left to be desired for especially toward a loyal customer.

Sharing the experience that my daughter recently had:…read more She was so excited to try this hairstylist for a Crochet hairstyle, only to be sorely disappointed after having spent much money and and time for a sloppy outcome. Having previously had her first Crochet hairstyle done this summer so lovely with precision care & attention on internship in Silver Spring MD, by a stylist at a pretty reasonable price, with a great finish that she was loved; my daughter could not believe how awful this experience and crochet turnout ended up! She sent me video of her finished hair style as she sat in her car in the parking lot. Then called to tell me how it sorely missed her expectations. I tried to to comfort her. But after she sent me pictures and more video the next morning; I had to agree spending $135 and leaving the stylist with damp hair she should contact the stylist Ashley and inform her that the style did not look anything as she hoped, that there were gaps and visible scalp and the invisible knots were showing all over! After a half-hearted attempt to fix it, my daughter took the crochet out on the 6th day.

Inaccurate hours listed…read more Noticed opening time was 10:30, which seemed a bit late. But if they generally get there by that time rather than 10, I appreciate the transparency. Prob is, they did not open at 10:30 nor was there any sign of them opening. Called the listed number and no answer. Arrived five to 10:30 and departed about 10:50. I had an afternoon appnt and without knowing what time they would actually open I couldn't wait around. There was a car parked there before I arrived and another pulled up as I was leaving out. Hopefully they were let in soon after. Found a comparable shop that answered and was open about 10 mins up the road. (Also I uber so it was a waste of a trip going in the first place.) Hopefully they can improve on maintaining up to date hours. I've been a few times throughout the years and service is what to be expected. They get the job done, and it can be a long visit (which is why I opted to try to go at opening). Personally I won't return bc the only benefit is the convenience of dropping in.

I'm gonna attach a picture of their stated policy which they didn't even honor. They strictly tell you to send a picture of your hair, send a picture of the style you want and the day/time you want. They also explicitly state that all new clients receive a consultation. I had to submit a $100.00 deposit to secure my appointment. The 3 hour service cost $375.00 including the deposit. I was about to leave a positive review about my hair and the fact there wasn't any wait times. Then I saw reviews about consultations and educating the client on their hair. I received no such service. I looked at their policy to make sure I hadn't misinterpreted anything and there it was plain as day. Reached out to Henny/Henni about this and she back peddled on their stated policy outlined in the text message and tried to gaslight me about it. She eventually got defensive and ended our discussion. Let me spare you a headache...... Once you have your appointment. Ask for the name of the stylist who will be doing your hair. If it's Henny/Henni, immediately request another stylist in the salon. If you can't get another stylist then cancel the appointment. Look at the reviews. Most all the positive reviews are about the other stylists at the salon and most all the negative reviews are about Henny/Henni. Had Henni honored her salon policy and not gaslit me, she would've had myself and about 20 plus new clients from me alone. I run a small business and I network on a constant basis. I'm big on supporting and advertising for black owned business but I can't recommend her services in good faith.

Very rarely would I wear my natural hair out in its 'kinky' state. In October 2023 did a big chop basically as a no hassle way of dealing with a surgery at that time. That was the last time my hair was serviced by a professional stylist. A had long ago given up using hair grease until a friend recommended I try Doo Grow. I was skeptical and began my search for a natural stylist who matched what I wanted for my hair. My criteria was a stylist who supported a simple routine that focused on low manipulation and back to basics healthy hair routine. I found an IG influencer who recommended the AfirkanHairGod as one who promoted a simple routine of water and hair grease as a moisturizing routine. The more I binge watched his videos, the more I knew that this was who I was looking for. His philosophy matched my ideal of what I was looking for. So I started following his recommendations of detangling, grease and other techniques he recommended and found they worked well for my hair. Case in point was that I had very crunchy ends that I thought would need to be cut off. Much to my surprise, at my consultation, I was informed that he only needed to trim very little. Apparently following his recommendations was already working and I was released to a one year follow-up unless I needed to come back earlier. So that solidified in my mind that he is genuinely interested in the health of your hair. He is not cut happy. He cuts when needed for damage, and then he gives you a choice of how you want to proceed to correct your damage. He is very kind, patient and answers all your questions. I've seen videos of his customers who come in with damaged hair and end up with flourishing healthy natural hair under his care and tutelage. So would I recommend The Griyn Thumb Salon with Narada and Henni? Absolutely!!! Hands down, my stylist of choice. Can't wait to see my home progress and get the results at my next visit

Growing up, I was no stranger to African braiding salons. But as I got older, the tightness and discomfort pushed me toward Black American braiders. Unfortunately, that came with its own trauma: sky-high prices, inconsistent booking, and losing an entire day in someone's chair. I was over it. I knew I needed to return to what I knew--the efficiency and reliability of African braiders. I arrived early on a Monday morning, the first client of the day. I was greeted by one of the braiders and instructed to call the owner, Flower, to confirm my style. I requested medium knotless braids, waist-length, with a custom color mix (1B/30/27). Flower quoted me $250, a fair and honest price considering the style, length, and color. Two braiders worked on me--Sophie and another braider whose name I didn't catch, but it starts with an M based on the sign-in sheet. The shop was clean and everything ran smoothly. My braiders were initially hesitant about the color mix, but once they saw it finished, they loved it and so did I. The braids ended up being a little longer than I anticipated, and the whole process took about 5.5 hours. For the length and quality, I have zero complaints. The braids are neat, the parts are clean, and most importantly, I left without feeling like my scalp was on fire. Tight? A little, but nothing unbearable. Painful? No. I'll definitely be back again. My only issue was with the handling of the braiding hair. At times, the hair would fall to the floor and if it was picked up quickly, I understood. But sometimes it lingered, was stepped on, and still used. I did refuse some hair that had been stepped on, but I don't believe it was thrown out. That's something I'd encourage others to be mindful of. Make sure the hair being installed in your head is being cared for properly. If you're looking for a clean, efficient, no-nonsense braiding experience that gives what it's supposed to give, Flower Atl Braids is your spot.

I called the shop and apparently I was speaking to Flower but didn't know until reading other reviews on Google. I called around 8:50pm asking about getting my hair braided. I sent pictures and was told prices for both pictures Flower stated that my hair could be braided tomorrow morning I explained to her that I had to work tomorrow and didn't want to be late for work she stated I could come tonight and I asked what time she said 9:30pm. I called her on the way cause it stated cash only on Instagram but I found this shop on Google. I stopped at the ATM machine on the way there . I got there and the lady asked what did I want and I said a braided ponytail and she said that would take to long and she couldn't do it tonight I showed her the other style and she said my edges were not thick enough although they were a few weeks ago when I had Goddess braids plus I leave my edges out. I was very upset and called Flower the owner and she took on accountability for her actions. She tried to pretend like she tried to call when we just talked ten minutes or less before arriving to the shop when I called on her BS instead of apologizing or trying to make things right I got more excuses. Flower stated that I don't understand the lady that was there was tired and she was trying to accommodate me by saying that I could get my hair done tonight. I just did 8 hours and I was tired to but since Flower stated my hair could be done tonight I came tired and all. Flower the owner is a liar and very unprofessional and took on accountability for her actions! If this is your shop you should have called to make sure someone could do my hair prior to saying yes. I am percent positive that this yes to doing my hair was only motivated by money and not really caring about your employee because again you could have called her. This is horrible customer service and you didn't even attempt to call me to let me know things changed or even mentioned it to me when I spoke to a few minutes before arriving! This never happened I understand when someone is tired cause I was tired but what I don't understand is the unprofessionalism and the lies and excuses therefore I hope you karma comes for you swiftly!
