We have been here on two different occasions now. Both times we have had a good experience and the hubby has had some great beers. Again, I am yelping while pregnant (under 3 months left now!) So I took small sips of his beers as he got them. The Tasty AF has been the best. It's like a peanut butter cup in a glass. It's a stout, but not bitter at all. During the Texans Division Champs Game, our waiter- Brad, was great. He was really personable and cheerful, and was great at picking beers for us based on what we like. For food, we had the loaded tots, the artichoke dip, and the chocolate chip cookie a la mode. The cookie is amazing with that Tasty AF beer. The artichoke dip was great. I have never had one that was so chunky and full of large artichoke pieces. The tots were ok. The jalepenos on them were a bit over-powering and it wasn't long before the tots got soggy. On our second trip, we brought our kiddos for Tuesday family Bingo Night. It was fun but we ended up at the bar because it filled up fast! If you plan on going, make sure to get there at least a half hour early to snag a good spot. On this trip we tried the pretzel sticks with beer cheese sauce. The first plate had a couple of undercooked ones that were still dough inside. I mentioned it as a side note to the waiter- not too put off by it given by how fast they were churning out food...but our waiter had a new plate whipped up quickly for free. The second plate was perfect. They were yummy and great for snacking with the kiddos. We will definitely be back. I can't wait to come back after this little boy is out of me in April so that I can try some of all those delicious beers! read more

The Growler Bar USA is located a couple of miles south of Interstate 10 in Katy. Not only will you find really good food, but also really good craft beer... 100+ taps to be exact! If you have been following me for any length of time, you know I am all about good eats, craft beer and cool local activities. Well, at the Growler USA in Katy I was in hog heaven! This Aggie-owned establishment (cherry on top) has all three of my passions. Owners Lance and Jessica Mayo are focused on supporting local: local breweries, local charities and, of course, the local community. Some people, when it's their first time to a micro brew pub, get a little nervous. There is no need, just ask the brewtender all the questions you want. They are always happy to talk craft beer and will even give you a taster to make sure you like it before you order. Ha! I like that! I noticed the words "True to the Brew" on the shirts the staff was wearing. When I asked what that meant, they let me know that from their top-of-the-line tap system and cooler to the glass rinsers that chill the inside of your glass to 34 degrees - the beverages they serve meet the highest level of expectations from the brewers themselves, including individual pressure settings on each tap. If that's not "True to the Brew", I'm not sure what is. We quickly ordered a couple of Top Texas Craft Beers - No Label Brewing Company "Brew of H"... when in Rome, ya know? This local Katy brewery has some great beers and Brew of H is one of them. This is a good, hoppy beer with a very creamy smooth finish. I do recommend. I was in Texas on a gorgeous Fall Saturday and, by golly, we were watching college football. There isn't much better than spending the day eating great food, drinking great beer and watching great games. I had a smile from ear to ear as our great server asked us what we would like to eat. Let the REAL games begin! We ordered a little bit of everything, but my VERY favorites were the Buffalo Chicken Dip, Oven-Roasted Chicken Wings, Chicken Avocado Club, Beer Brat Gyro with Side Salad and, of course, the Chocolate Chip Cookie with Blue Bell ice cream. The Buffalo Chicken Dip might just be the best thing on the menu at Growler USA - I love it that much! It goes so perfectly with a number of beers. Served with pita bread for scooping, this dip is made with roasted chicken, cream cheese, a 3-cheese mix, Spicy Buffalo Sauce and sprinkled with green onion. My mouth is literally salivating right now just thinking about it. The Buffalo Chicken Sauce has a nice tang, but the 3-cheese mix is what puts it over the top. If you enjoy Buffalo Chicken, you must order this as a starter. Next up were the Oven-Roasted Chicken Wings. Now, don't get me wrong - I like Fried Chicken Wings, but it was nice surprise to see oven-roasted on the menu. At Growler USA in Katy, they have a grease-free kitchen. That means no fryers or open flames, everything is oven-baked. I like it! And I loved the wings! We ordered a number of different sauces including Buffalo, Honey Sriracha, Sticky BBQ and Asian. My favorite sauce was the Buffalo dipped in blue cheese... but I am kind of a classic wing guy. All the flavors were amazing! If you are looking for a nice sandwich to go with your Pale Ale, I say go for the Chicken Avocado Club. The oven-roasted chicken was so juicy and the fresh avocado reminded me of the ones I enjoy in San Diego. It was filled with Roma tomatoes, crispy bacon, Provolone cheese, and mayonnaise served on toasted sourdough bread. Is THAT something you would be interested in? Delicious! It's funny because I had planned on drinking a local porter or stout as a dessert. Then I noticed a table next to us was being served a sizzling pan filled with a Chocolate Chip Cookie and Blue Bell ice cream. At that moment, I could just taste the hot, sweet, Chocolate Chip Cookie balanced and cooled off by the Blue Bell ice cream. I had to have this delightful dessert... and so I did! A craft beer bar with right around 100 taps, in a pretty nondescript chain looking strip center in Katy (what would you expect). A long wood bar that runs the length of the tap wall. A few high top tables scattered around and lots of TV's, some with the beer selection, some with sports playing. A clean, comfortable, and a bit sterile spot. The service is spot on, and from what I had the tap lines are clean. Not always a given with bars that have this many tap handles, as 100 is a lot to keep turning over. Impressed that they are on top of everything, and it is a pretty good selection (anything from the newish Fullbrook in Richmond, to Founders). Of coarse they do growler and crowler fills to go. I was a little turned off on some of the prices for growler fills. A 64 oz growler fill for Brash was pushing $40, yikes. Though prices per pint, and the smaller growler fills where much more reasonable. Food is pub grub and is by the books. With burgers, wings, quesadillas, wraps etc. Nothing wrong with anything, as it is filling and good if not exceptional. Which is all a place like this needs to have. A good spot out here in the burbs. I will be looking for more opportunities to visit when I can. read more

Great beer selection and the one thing that is a must is good food when you're out for a little family relaxing time. They were friendly with my kids and didn't act like we didn't belong because we had our 3 year old and our 14 year old. I only say that because I've had terrible service from some "sports bars" or "pub and eatery " type places when I had my kids with me and it means A LOT when the staff pays attention and speaks to the kids when they're out. It's important for young kids to socialize and learn how to introduce themselves and respond when spoken to so thank you Crafted staff for being top notch! read more

We each bought a generous "flight" of 6 beers (equal to 2 full beers) trying ales, pils, ipas, stouts and mead. The fresh-baked pretzels and cheese dip were a great snack. Then the cesar and buffalo wraps were very tasty. If you visit as the afternoon sun begins to set, bring your sunglasses inside because you'll need them (or sit at the bar and avoid the sun)! Decent food, definitely fresh. We really wanted to try a variety of foods which we did, certain foods just don't travel well as far takeout goes. We ate inside the restaurant, unfortunately servers nor bartenders wear masks. It was our choice to go and it is their choice to not wear masks. I have been to this establishment more than once and I will not be going back. There is a male bartender who has served me more than once who is extremely rude and un-personable. He sits for long periods of time and talks to what I assume is "regular" patrons which makes the service extremely slow, not to mention that the servers in the establishment served and were more friendly with me than my actual bartender. This place has an AWESOME beer selection, and a pretty good looking food menu. I do have a few complaints. -The beers are overpriced compared to other local bars: sure the selection is great but some of these beers can be found at other bars in town for cheaper. -I willingly paid 6.50 for a beer that should be a dollar less, because it's hard to find.. but after ordering my second, my waiter informed me, as he delivered it... that the second beer would be $1 more ($7.50) because it was from a different keg where that same beer had a higher alcohol content. I went along with it but, confirmed later with that brewery that all of their beers are the same alcohol content.. not sure why I was charged more but...... 3 stars mainly for this. read more

We stumbled upon this place by accident one day when looking for a place to grab a beer in Katy and ended up having such a great experience that we drove all the way back out to Katy a second time just to visit this place. This place is worth a trip for any craft beer lover. They serve only craft beers, nothing from breweries that have been bought out by any of the big beer conglomerates. They easily have one of the best draft beer selections out of any bar that I have ever been to. They have a lot of the basics that you would expect from local breweries but also a lot of really unique beers that I have never heard of. The bar tenders are all very friendly and you can tell they just really love beer. Each time we have been here, they have taken the time to help us find beers that we love, sometimes pouring us multiple samples before finding one that sticks. They do beer by the pint or you can get a flight, with prices per flight sample varying depending on the beer you pick. You can also get growlers to-go with discounts on certain days, I think mostly Sundays and Mondays. They have lots of events during the week, too. If I was a local, I'd be at this bar all the time! They have a pretty extensive food menu, although we have never eaten here. We just come for the beer! I'm pretty jealous that Katy has a spot like this! read more

This place. I cant even with this place. We go a LOT of places for Beer. Never before have we experienced the service, knowledge and helpfulness of the staff at Growler. I wish they werent so far away, we would regularly stop here, like 3 times a week if we could. The beer selection is top notch with over 90 taps on the wall. All craft beer. Dont come here looking for your Ab InBev crap (Karbach cough). Its not happening, at least during our visit. If you want real beer, this my friends is the gold mine. The food was amazing.
