Wife and I have never been to Lazy Dog, but decided to give it a try last Saturday. We were welcomed with a smile and seated quickly. The hostess was great and our waitress Alyssa was very polite, always had a smile and was knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the delicious garlic bread, it was warm and had a lot of cheese! Wife had a Cuban sandwich and she said it was great. I had a flight of the house beers and they were all great, I tried the light ones/blondes. I also had the Loco Moco Fried Rice and it was great and it was large portion. This was a very disappointing experience tonight, which is interesting because last time I came here it was amazing and over the top quality. First, tonight my family and I came into the restaurant and were not greeted by any hostess or employee for about 7-10 minutes. We understood though because everyone seemed to be in a rush since it was busy. We patiently waited then we were finally seated. Our server took our drink orders first as usual, got us our drinks then walked away. We waited a good while for her to come back since we were wanting to order an appetizer, and that took forever. Once we finally were able to place our appetizer order, it took another 10 minutes for it to come out. Again, we tried our best to be nice since it was busy. Now to the meals.. we put in our order for our dishes and proceeded to wait about 30-35 minutes. There is only 3 of us! Once everyone got their meals we realized it just.. wasn't the best. - My mother ordered a customized pick 3 meal, her roasted chicken sandwich didn't have any roasted chicken, she said it was all lunch meat? And her bread was as hard as a rock. The "truffle fries" that she had to pay extra for didn't have any truffle, when asked about it.. we were informed it was just truffle "oil". What. Lastly, she didn't even receive her soup. They forgot about it. We had to remind them about the forgotten soup for my mother to finally receive it. She said it was not even good. - My mediterranean chicken bowl was..okay, but I did notice that last time I was here I had a good amount of chicken. This time.. I had barely any chicken. We received 0 REFILLS on our drinks, so by the time we ordered dessert we couldn't even finish it since we were so thirsty and the chocolate was so rich. In the end, the rush died down so much where once we sat up to go we were wondering why service was still awful when no one was in the restaurant. The manager did come to apologize, both our server and manager were very nice. They decided to take off the sandwich from our bill and remake the sandwich and soup to go. Once we got home, my mother realized the soup in our to go package was actually the correct soup, and that at the restaurant she has no idea what soup they brought her. They do not serve hotdogs I repeat - they do not serve hot dogs! They serve much more than that. I came here for an event and was surprised at how good and fresh the food was. The staff was so attentive and knowledgeable on all the foods. It's American food, but they do a lot of fusion, so there was something for everyone. My favorite of the night was the loco moco fried rice and the lemon cheesecake! The cheesecake was zesty and not overly sweet, which I appreciated because it let me taste all the distinct flavors going on. The curry chicken salad with chickpeas I know my husband would've loved, I ate it for him lol. I don't know what it was but the bottom of it had a dressing that made it very delectable. I was on the outside on the patio that had a large fireplace and it was so cozy, I can imagine it being very inviting during winter time. My youngest daughter and I meet up with my brother and his family for brunch. All of us been wanting to try Lazy Dog for long time and we finally did. The interior was spacious and clean. The food and adult drink menus were extensive with good amount of varieties. We were impressived with the taste of our foods and the quality of the ingredients. We all finished our plates. Two members of our party ordered alcohol drinks, a Bloody Mary and a Cold Brewed martini. I took a sip of both and both tasted very good. Table service was friendly, but the foods did come up slower than expected. Lazy Dog also sell some of the main dishes as frozen dinner for $11. If you buy 5 frozen TV dinners, you get in free. Well I 1st started inside at a high top at the bar but the air conditioning was so chilly we moved outside to the patio. It was nice low humidity evening & the patio seating is a nice space & size. Our server was very friendly and continuously checked on us. They weren't too busy on a Tuesday night and the food came out pretty quick. The lettuce wraps are my go-to dish here. Great choice for appetizer to share or light meal for 1. They're not PF Chang's but they are good & consistent. I also shared the Korean Ribeye Bibimbap bowl. This is my second trip to lazy dog restaurant and bar. The first time was in Addison, Texas, and that was absolutely delightful. However, this particular lazy dog is equivalent which speaks to me of very good management. Let's talk about the food which is a very broad menu. I had a hamburger and fries which were frankly quite good and an old-fashioned, which was equally good although a bit on the sweet side to be very honest with you. I believe the flavor profile of old-fashioned is changing so I'll simply make note of that and the next time I order make sure that I give a directive not to have as much sugar added. The ambience is absolutely wonderful. we sat out on the patio this time which was quite well attended by a magnificent server. We have a short window to appreciate outside dining, and I make it a point to take advantage of it in this particular restaurant services the genre quite well. To be fair I ordered food from them when I only wanted a few of their items. I would gladly return to sit down and consume what looks like a pot roast delight amongst a bed of mashed potatoes and veggies then smothered in gravy. That sounds absolutely delicious! Absolutely delicious. I saw other good entrée options but that pot roast looks absolutely delightful. Absolutely delightful! I ordered the crispy tempura onion rings with a nice sauce which melted in my mouth like cotton candy! Oh so good! Those were some golden onion rings with a good fry on them. I also indulged in the banana pudding, which has completely taken over as my favorite dessert. Those two items are very very satisfying to me. The deliciousness is excellent. Had a pretty decent first time experience at Lazy Dog. I've always seen them around, but nothing ever motivated me to give it a try until my wife got her hand on a coupon from them. Upon entering my first reaction is that it gives cabin restaurant in the great outdoors vibes. I would also say it's very casual and family friendly with the fair amount of kids I saw there. However, they also have a pretty big bar there too with plenty of tvs. Their menu is pretty big and they have a wide variety of food options, although it is generally American casual fare. It was a little difficult to decide what to pick, so I went with the waitress recommendation of the BBQ Bison Meatloaf and it did not disappoint! I topped that off with a rum barrel punch that was decent. I'd definitely would want to come back at some point to try some of their other menu options and get more of a feel for this place. This is one of the few places that has a menu for dogs to eat. So my husband and I took our two dogs over. They have a very nice shaded patio with a lot of ventilation. I like the fact that they have a set of rules for people who bring their dogs here. For example, dogs are not allowed to be on your lap. Do not feed the dogs directly from your dishes. And other rules. The tables and chairs were stable. We hooked the leash up to our chair fence. I couldn't find a hook under the table to put the leash on. We had two very small dogs so we ordered one meal and asked our waitress to split into two bowls, which is perfect for them . And she also brought out ice water for them. A food came out very quickly. They were as expected nothing really stood out. I did enjoy the candy bacon bit in my grilled cheese sandwich and the tomato soup was very chunky. But the sandwich was eh. Our waitress was really sweet and quick. I think this place would be good for a quick lunch in between work or if you want to treat your dogs out. My daughter and I visited on a Friday night with a puppy we were fostering. He has a very calm, sweet temperament, which is why we felt comfortable bringing him. There was about a 20-minute wait, which we didn't mind. We just walked around the building and let him sniff the landscaped areas. The positives: the food and the patio atmosphere. I ordered the ginger soy salmon, which was excellent, and appreciated being able to order a simple chicken, rice, and veggie bowl for the pup. The patio was cozy and comfortable, even on a slightly chilly evening, and the overall setting felt much nicer than most dog-friendly spots. Unfortunately, our service experience made the visit uncomfortable. We specifically chose this restaurant because it markets itself as dog friendly while also being a more elevated environment. When our waitress first greeted us and again when she dropped off drinks, our puppy briefly jumped up and put his paws on her legs. I apologized both times and immediately redirected him. Despite that, she seemed visibly bothered and was very short with us afterward. Shortly after, the manager came over to let us know we needed to ensure the dog stayed away from staff. She was kind and handled the situation professionally, explaining that while she loves dogs herself, but not everyone is comfortable with them, which is totally understandable. For context, our puppy did not bark, pull, run around, or disturb other guests at any point. I fully respect that some people are uneasy around dogs, but in a restaurant that promotes itself as dog friendly, I would hope staff are either comfortable in that environment or trained to handle those interactions in a way that doesn't make guests feel unwelcome. read more

Who knew they had a decent late night Happy Hour at LD. It's a nice menu for late night appetizers and drinks. I was surprised how good the food was at this hour; after 10pm and they still made each dish fresh. I ordered the Tomato Basil which was so good arrived hot and delicious with freshly grilled garlic bread. We also ordered the Marsala Indian chicken meatballs and vegetable cauliflower ceviche. Came here for the first time recently and returned some time later to enjoy lunch with friends. We really appreciated the restaurant being incredibly accommodating. The staff is also very friendly and if you have any questions they are happy to help! We really enjoyed our food and left with some favorites. I'm particularly fond of the 'small bites' section. There is a good mix of cuisines on the menu, which I found cool. There are a good variety of drinks on the drink menu, as well. The restaurant is a lot of fun with its dog theme and is clean throughout - including the bathrooms, which is, of course, always important. We finally decided to try out this newer place in Katy, and were pleasantly surprised! After looking over the menu, we decided to forego an appetizer, and saved room for dessert. My wife started with the Pineapple Mojito, and I tried the Prickly Pear Sloshie, and we enjoyed them both! The manager surprised us with an off-the-menu appetizer, stacked potato chips with Parmesan cheese melted all over them, which were interesting and tasty. They hit the spot, and were not too filling, since we were trying to save room for dessert! For our entrees, my wife had the grilled Rainbow Trout, and I had the Slow-cooked Poblano Pork. Both were delicious and we had to take half of it to go, because they were such generous portions. Finally, for dessert, we tried the triple chocolate mousse! It was very light, smooth, and delectable! I'm glad we saved room for it! We also shared an espresso martini to cap the night off in style! This review is based upon two visits I had and contains images of both experiences. First visit was in January 2025 during the afternoon and the second visit was during January 2026 in the evening. January 2025 - my wife and I decided to try out the place since it recently opened at the time, it was our first time going to a lazy dog. First impressions were good with the manager on site greeting us and checking up on us from time to time. Waitress took our order and the food came out nicely however...along with the side we asked for glass of water and noticed the glasses were not cleaned, it took three times/swaps to get clean clear glass which is not a good look and dropped few points for me. Food wise it was pretty good - I had the fried chicken dinner which was great with huckleberry lemonade and my wife had the BBQ Bison meatloaf, which was okay, it looked good but did not taste as good as we expected. It was an okay experience soured by the glass incident as we felt the waitress didn't like going back and forth to get new glasses , could have at least checked to see if they were cleaned. Also wait time was a bit too much. We decided not to come back for a return visit in the same year. -------- January 2026, we decided to give lazy dog a second chance but this time we went in the evening. Much better experience this time around , the waiter we had was very courteous. The place was well lit and the ambiance felt better at night than during the day. This time around we ordered the Mediterranean chicken meal and the tikka masala meatballs which we shared. Really great and delicious meal and eating it with the tikka masala meatballs were a great combination. Also bought the loco moco fried rice for take out for my mom at home, portion size was pretty good. For drinks my wife bought one of the mocktails , the pomegranate fauxtini and I had the strawberry lemonade which I noticed did not come with a sugar rim. All in all a much better experience than the first one. If you go , recommend the evening since the ambiance and lighting seem to enhance the experience. Also the menu has changed a bit compared to a year ago and the wait times were better. More crowded in the evening but still had spaces. If you looking for a place with multiple types of cuisine with a great atmosphere in the evening, this is the place to go especially if you live in the Aliana area like we do.
